• Android Dropdown (Select) CSS

  I'm currently writing some stylesheets for mobile browsers and have come across a strange issue in the Android browser. When changing the font-size CSS attribute of a text box the box gets bigger to accomodate the larger text. Doing this on a select box however does not change the size of the select box, but the text still gets larger (actually overlapping the top and bottom of the rendered form element). Can anyone tell me if it's possible to increase the height of select boxes in the Android browser. Or if not point me in the direction of a list of CSS attributes that can be applied to them. • Getter/Setter from separate class file in Java

  I'm new to Java and for a HW assignment, we had to create a Person class that has a constructor, getter/setter for the attributes of firstName, lastName, phone. That is in a separate file from an old HW assignment (Person.java). Now we have to use that Person class in our new HW assignment (LoanApplication.java). So if one of the attributes is private Person client do I need to create getter/setters or a constructor again? Otherwise, how does each LoanApplicaiton instance know which Person attribute it is to go with? How does the JVM know that it can use the Person.class even though my LoanApplicaiton.class does not extend Person.class? Thanks.

• contenteditable element prevents hyperlink default behavior

  I've got the following problem. In IE if a contenteditable element is nested inside a hyperlink, clicking on the element prevents the hyperlink default behavior, i.e. navigation to another document. In FF it works fine. How can I solve the problem? Just removing the contentEditable attribute is not a solution since I want this behavior (navigation to another document) only when user clicks the content-editable element with pressed Ctrl key. Thanks.

  Hi there, I am working on an iPhone version of a website, and I am using jQuery .animate() with the scrollTop attribute to scroll to different sections of the page. Something like so: $('html,body').animate({ scrollTop: distance }, 300); On regular web browsers, the scrolling starts from the current window position to the desired position. On the iPhone, the window jumps back to the top of the document before scrolling to the desired position. This is apparently the intended action, but the pages just don't look good with all that movement. Alternatively, on Google.com for the iPhone, when the autosuggest is activated, there is a nice simple scroll to show the autosuggest options below the search box. That's what I'd like to do...

  I have a function that is responsible for killing a child process when the program ends: class MySingleton: def __init__(self): import atexit atexit.register(self.stop) def stop(self): os.kill(self.sel_server_pid, signal.SIGTERM) However I get an error message when this function is called: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python2.5/atexit.py", line 24, in _run_exitfuncs func(*targs, **kargs) File "/home/commando/Development/Diploma/streaminatr/stream/selenium_tests.py", line 66, in stop os.kill(self.sel_server_pid, signal.SIGTERM) AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'kill' Looks like the os and signal modules get unloaded before atexit is called. Re-importing them solves the problem, but this behaviour seems weird to me - these modules are imported before I register my handler, so why are they unloaded before my own exit handler runs?

• How do I get my text to be direction from right to left without using a p tag?

  I have a dynamically appearing div on a page. I would like to be able to hide the div with a button at the top right corner of the div. One way I have found to do this is to use a p tag, like so: <p dir="RTL">button</p> If this is the first line of HTML within the div, it will put the button in the upper right hand corner of the div. However, it gives me a new line above and a new line below, so, the button isn't really where I want it to be. The "dir" attribute doesn't seem to work with a span tag, and if I display the p tag inline using css p { display:inline; } the button is no longer right aligned. Instead it stays in the left hand corner. Is there a way to get this button in the upper right hand corner without two unnecessary new lines and without a bunch of  ?

Also, I want to set attribute one by one. I can't think of if my array change to 10*10. How long it could be.   I have a custom made class that use a long as ID. However, when I call my action using ajax, my ID is truncated and it loses the last 2 numbers because javascript loses precision when dealing with large numbers. My solution would be to give a string to my javascript, but the ID have to stay as a long on the server side. Is there a way to serialize the property as a string? I'm looking for some kind of attribute.   I am developing SL3 + RIA services with custom authentication. I followed the example in http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/RiaServices/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=2661 to implement custom authentication. Based on the implementation, you first do login request from client to service. This request is async process. Since login is async, the control will go back to GUI which then starts to do data bind in SL controls using RIA services, the services happens to requires the authentication to be successful (by adding [RequireAuthentication] attribute). The trouble is, since you requested login might not have completed before the data binding starts t this stage the authentication is false because of that data binding will fail. I would like to know if you require your web services to have 'RequireAuthentication' how would you wait for authentication to complete at the server side or client side. Appriciate the help. • Magento: Configurable product options not showing on a view page?

  I have multi-store Magento system and strange things happen when i try to see a configurable product on my main store - the options select lists don't show up at all! And that is the case for the 95% of the products on the main store. But on the other stores it works fine?! I can't see what am I doing wrong. All my products are configurable, all have set simple products with options attached to them, all are set to be visible on all stores (WebsiteIds attribute), all are enabled on all stores, all simple products are in stock and have some stock quantity set. I think if I've done something wrong it would be like that on all stores, not just the main one. I'm totally clueless, please help. • Is there a way to make XmlDocument parsing less strict

  I am making a program that will store its data in an XML file. When people write XML they can make subtle mistakes, like ending a comment with - so it looks like <!-- comment ---> or adding a </>inside an attribute. Naturally, the XML still can be read all right, but trying to input this text into XmlDocument will give a syntax error (and it wont be parsed). Is there a way to make XmlDocument less strict and make it ignore violations of the standard that do not make the document unparseable? For example, its clear that <!-- comment ---> is still a comment even though it contains - at the end which is against the standard specification).

• Using Enums that are in an external dll C#

  I have a project I am working that will involve creating one DLL that will be used across multiple other sites. Inside this DLL we need to reference about 10 Enums. The values of these Enums however will be different for each site the DLL is used on. For example: MyBase.dll may have a class MyClass with an attribute of type MyEnum. MyBase.dll is then referenced in MySite. MyStie will also reference MyEnums.dll which will contain the values for the MyEnum type. Is there any way to accomplish this? While building MyBase.dll, I know what enums will exist in side of MyEnums.dll. The problem is I cannot build MyBase.dll without specifically referenceing the MyEnums.dll, which is not created until the MyBase.dll is used in a specific project. I hope that makes sense and hope I can find an answer here. Thanks.

• Can an XML prolog contain custom information?

  Is it legal to add additional custom information somewhere in an XML prolog? For example, in my case, I would like to add an indicator of which serialiser version was used to create the XML, so that clients receiving the XML could automatically select the correct corresponding de-serialiser. I could add the information as an attribute of the root tag, but I thought it would be cleaner to add the information in the prolog, like the standard XML version: <?xml version="1.0"?> something like: <?serialiser version="1.0"?> or is the prolog reserved purely for those things specified by W3C?
