• Call an AsyncTask inside a Thread

  I am working in an android application and I want to call an AsyncTask from my UI main thread. For that I want to call my AsyncTask from a thread. This is the method that I call from my main UI thread. This is working correctly CommonAysnk mobjCommonAysnk = new CommonAysnk(this, 1); mobjCommonAysnk.execute(); CommonAysnk is my AsyncTask class.I want to pass my activity and an integer parameter to the AsyncTask constructor. How can I call this from a thread as shown below method. Thread t = new Thread() { public void run() { try { CommonAysnk mobjCommonAysnk = new CommonAysnk(this, 1); mobjCommonAysnk.execute(); } catch (Exception ex) { }}}; t.start(); When I tried to call it from a Thread and I am not able to pass the activity parameter correctly. • jquery: nested tags and hover() not working in IE

  hello folks! i have a construction like this: <div id="container"> <span> <span></span> </span> <span> <span></span> </span> </div> i need to catch the mouseout event of the container, so i made jquery do this: $("#container").hover('',function(){ alert("Out"); }); In Firefox / Opera, it only fires the mouseout-function when leaving the div (how I want it). In IE it fires the mouseout-function at every -Tag inside of the div the mouse hits. (maybe important is, that the span tags have also mouseover and out events) Anyone has an idea how to solve this? (The nested structure cant be changed because a complex layout) thx4 any ideas!

• Is PThread a good choice for multi-platorm C/C++ multi-threading program?

  Been doing mostly Java and smattering of .NET for last five years and haven't written any significant C or C++ during that time. So have been away from that scene for a while. If I want to write a C or C++ program today that does some multi-threading and is source code portable across Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux/Unix - is PThread a good choice? The C or C++ code won't be doing any GUI, so won't need to worry with any of that. For the Windows platform, I don't want to bring a lot of Unix baggage, though, in terms of unix emulation runtime libraries. Would prefer a PThread API for Windows that is a thin-as-possible wrapper over existing Windows threading APIs. ADDENDUM EDIT: Am leaning toward going with boost:thread - I also want to be able to use C++ try/catch exception handling too. And even though my program will be rather minimal and not particularly OOPish, I like to encapsulate using class and namespace - as opposed to C disembodied functions.

  I had made a windows service in visual studio 2008 in C#.inside the service i had written only single line code try { System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(@"E:\Users\Sk\Desktop\category.txt"); } catch { } then i add the project insatller & change the serviceProcessInstaller1 Account proerty as local system Also change the serviceInstaller1 start type proerty as Automatic. then i build the project.it was succesfull. after that i add another project that was setup project.i had added pprimary project output & i had added the custom action as "Primary output from DemoWindowsService (Active)".then buil the setup.setup was build sucessfully.then i install the setup & then went to services start the service.service stated properly butit was not performing the task. i had checked the path is correct & also i tried to do System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(@"E:\Windows\system32\notepad.exe") but still result is same.i tried alot but not getting the ans soleasse help me to solve this problem.

  Can you tell me how can I handle this kind of exceptions: Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Doctrine_Connection_Exception' with message 'PDO Connection Error: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2013] Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 110' in ... It happens when connection with MySQL is lost during query. I need to handle this exception so I can show 500 error page so the crawlers do not cache page, and to redirect user to appropriate "Try again" page. P.S. I have a lot's of code, so I can not go trough all code to put try/catch block. I need something simple and yet effective.

• Does @import in CSS result in additional http requests?

  I have an ecommerce site that has about 8 CSS files linked from the header - resulting in 8 separate http requests to the server. I consolidated all the CSS files into 1 big one, resulting in a 67kb (!) file - to cut down the http requests to 1 for our css files. I'm finding this size a CSS file a little unmanageable in light of the fact I'm performing updates on the site constantly. My concern is my users may catch me in the middle of updating and see a NON-styled page when moving from page to page - b/c 67kb still takes a good 2-3 seconds before it is successfully placed on the remote server via FTP. My question is: does the use of @import within this large CSS file to break up the files into smaller more manageable sizes (within that CSS file) take us back to the original 8 http-requests when the pages is loaded? Or are @imports in CSS handle differently somehow?

  i need a dropdownlist to show current month and year (January 2010) till January 2011, and an additional record of January 2011 +.   This is almost good find *.txt -print0 | xargs -0 rm -f And i want to have something like that echo *.txt ./zad3.sh | xargs -l rm -f First version is good because I can delete file with white spaces but I can't use my script to select file to delete. Second version I can select files but I can't delete file with white spaces. I want to find files with end on .txt and delete some of them. zad3.sh is a script wich is returning file name if i agree to delete it rm catch the name and delete it. It works only for file without white space and special characters. Second version is better but i cant put my script inside it. find *.txt -print0| xargs -0 ./zad3.sh |xargs rm -f it works almost but i cant pass arg to rm and part of my code Thx

• Callback exception/error handling for ASP TreeView OnTreeNodePopulate?

  We're using an asp:TreeView configured with lazy loading. The callback method assigned for OnTreeNodePopulate throws an exception if the user has been logged out since the page was loaded. What we want to do is to direct the user to the login page. First attempt was to catch the exception on the server and try Response.Redirect(...), but that doesn't work because you can't redirect within a callback. I've tried various other approaches, including using ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(...) but that doesn't seem to work for OnTreeNodePopulate. If there was some way we could hook into the callback event handling on the client side then it would be easy, but the TreeView doesn't seem to offer anything here. Suggestions?

• How can I determine new & previous cell value on SheetChange event in Excel?

  I have some special cells in my Excel workbooks which are managed by my Excel Add-in. I want to prevent users from changing content of those cells, but I also want to know, what value users wanted to enter to those cells. On the SheetChange event I can check what users entered to my special cells, but how do I determine the PREVIOUS value in those cells and REVERT user changes? It is not a solution for me. If I lock cell in Excel, it becomes read-only - user can not even try to enter anything to this cell - Excel popups warning dialog in this case. My problem is that I want to catch what user entered to my cell, do something with this value, and then revert cell content to original value.

• Throwing special type of exception to terminate unit test

  Assume I want to write a unit test to test a particular piece of functionality that is implemented within a method. If I wanted to execute the method completely, I would have to do some extra set up work (mock objects expectations etc.). Instead of doing that I use the following approach: - I set up the expectations I'm interested in verifying and then make the tested method throw a special type of exception (e.g. TerminateTestException). - Further down in the unit test I catch the exception and verify the mock object expectations. It works fine but I'm not sure it is good practice. I do not do this regularly, only in cases where it saves me time and effort. One thing that comes to mind as an argument against using this is that throwing exceptions takes long time so the tests execute slower than if I used a different approach.

  I am building a firefox extension. In this extension, I want to see the URLs of any new webpage that the user visits. The webpage can be in a different tab or window than the current tab that the user is viewing (this should also catch the URL of pop-ups). Is there a way to find when firefox makes a GET or POST request and grab the URL? An alternative that I am trying to avoid is going through all the tabs and manually check to see if they have loaded a new page. Thanks

• Environment.GetFolderPath(...CommonApplicationData) is still returning c:\Docs&Set on Vista

  As i understand it, you're supposed to use Environment.GetFolderPath method so you have OS independent code... WinXP uses C:\Docs and Settings\ Vista uses C:\ProgramData and c:\Users I'm using the code below on a vista computer and it's returning a c:\documents and settings directory instead of c:\ProgramData like it should...   Is it possible to use Generics when passing a class to a java function? I was hoping to do something like this: public static class DoStuff { public <T extends Class<List>> void doStuffToList(T className) { System.out.println(className); } public void test() { doStuffToList(List.class); // compiles doStuffToList(ArrayList.class); // compiler error (undesired behaviour) doStuffToList(Integer.class); // compiler error (desired behaviour) } } Ideally the List.class and ArrayList.class lines would work fine, but the Integer.class line would cause a compile error. I could use Class as my type instead of T extends Class<List> but then I won't catch the Integer.class case above.

  Hello, First of all sorry that I could not think of a more descriptive title. What I want to do is the following using only SQL: I have some lists of strings, list1, list2 and list3. I have a dataset that contains two interesting columns, A and B. Column A contains a TransactionID and column B contains an ItemID. Naturally, there can be multiple rows that share the same TransactionIDs. I need to catch those transactions that have at least one item ID that exists whithin each list (list1, list2 AND list3). I also need to count how many times does that happen for each transaction. I hope that makes enough sense, perhaps I will be able to explain it better with a clear head. Thanks in advance

• Visual studio 2010 doesn't make the changes when i do a build/compile

  Ok so i change some code, re-build it and then, say for arguments sake i had a print statement outputting 'test2', well if i change it to 'test3' its still re-producing the old code 'test2'. Ive deleted the debug folder and rebuilt but no good. Then randomly about 10 builds later it will catch up. Ive also closed VS2010 and then re-opened the project but that doesnt help. What can i do as i need to see the changes asap? ps it's definitely the correct file
