• Want to turn old Powerbook Mac into small form factor desktop

  I've got an old powerbook g4. Battery is totally dead, as is the superdrive. I've looked into selling but it's worth less than it would cost to ship it safely. So I'm considering cracking it open and and taking it's parts and creating some kind of small form factor desktop, probably for the living room. I don't need an optical drive, I really just would like Mac OSX, without purchasing a Mac Mini. Anyone got any tips?

  I'm hoping to harness the collective tips of superuser to gather recommended apps/configurations to keep a new desktop clean, virus free, and hopefully lower software rot. I ask because I've recently come across tools like dropbox, deepfreeze, returnil, etc, and I'm curious what other ones are out there to protect a new box.   We're using DPM 2010 for exchange backups, The backup Disk(s) are iSCSI attached drives from multiple NAS boxes. We'd like to mirror iqn.2009-07.com.example.example:RAID.iscsi4.vg0.iscsi05 onto iqn.2012-3.com.example.example:RAID.iscsi4.vg0.iscsi05 DPM 2010 requires the disk for itself and handles volume creation, Therefore we can't just create a mirrored volume in Disk Management. DPM itself doesn't seem to have any ability to mirror the Disks in its storage pool. Any tips on how to mirror the volumes from one drive to the other?

• How can I switch off the insertion of wiki references automatically in OO Writer

• Windows Server 2003: smtp and ftp services keep shutting down after a while

  If I go into the IIS manager and start ftp and smtp, after about an hour or so they will have been shutdown. There is nothing in the event viewer to explain why they would shut down. IIS webserver continues to run with no problem. I don't see any options in their configuration that would cause this. Any tips on how to troubleshoot this?

• Host timeout during file upload/download over SFTP/SSH

  I tried different clients because i thought its client related, but all of them sooner or later disconnect or stop uploading/downloading files, and getting a timeout disconnect. After a reconnect it works again for a bit of time. Really strange cannot figure out the reason. I'm on a mac and the server is a debian VPS! If u need further informations ask please! I recently discovered MAMP and its just easier to work with it than with the personal web server Apple has and via command like utils.   Dear ladies and sirs. I have a need to create a self signed certificate non interactively. Unfortunately, the only tool that I know of (makecert) is interactive - it uses GUI to ask for a password. My OS is Windows (from XP to 2008).   I just heard about policyd-weight so I did an apt-cache search policyd which returns three options: policyd-weight postfix-policyd postfwd Which one is the best, and do you have any tips on setting them up? Our current setup is whitelister plus postgrey to greylist RBLd hosts, then fail2ban them for 10 minutes if they have 10 failures, followed by content filtering (Kaspersky Anti-Spam). The content filtering is pretty good, but there's still a lot of spam that gets through the RBL greylisting.

  Two question regarding sudo-login into an ubuntu-system (debian tips welcome as well): Is it possible to require sudoers on my box to only login with publickey-authentication? Is it possible to log which ip sudoers log in from and check that for "unusual activity" or take actions? I'm thinking about temporarily removing sudo-rights if sudoers don't log in from whitelisted IPs. Or is that too risky to be exploited?

• Intranet Ip - Access from Custom Domain

  I have setup a local intranet in my office using IIS7 (Windows 7 Machine), currently it can be accessed through the PC's static IP, however I would like it so that internally it can just be accessed through an easier method, e.g typing in http://intranet (or something similar). There are over 60 PC's int he office, so individually updating Host files on the PC's is not really ideal. We don't need it to be accessible from the outside world (I.e, we don't care/want it to be an Extranet). Any tips?
