  My OpenGL setup is somehow configured to work like so: (-1, 1) (0, 1) (1, 1) (-1, 0) (0, 0) (1, 0) (-1, -1) (0, -1) (1, -1) How do I configure it so that it works like so: (0, 0) (SW/2, 0) (SW, 0) (0, SH/2) (SW/2, SH/2) (SW, SH/2) (0, SH) (SW/2, SH) (SW/2, SH) SW as Screen Width. SH as Screen Height. This solution would have to fix the problem of I can't translate significantly(1) on the Z axis. Depth doesn't seem to be working either. • Strange Happenings

  There are weeks we go about our life thinking nothing is going to change nothing will happen.  Then there are other weeks a billion things happen at once.  Friday started off very weird for me.  I flew into Atlanta and I met some cool people for another SharePoint event.  I had some good conversations.  Saturday then hit me and my virtual machine bombed in my presentation after the auto updater ran.  I was writing code on the board and describing everything in notepad.  I would say as presentations go it was the best and the worst presentation all wrapped into one.  The next day I was in Baltimore and I hung out with my aunt which was relatively uneventful and great.  Then Monday hit and half my presentations failed or succeeded and my screen freezes so I start describing the code.  I was on top of my game until Monday night.  On top of the world.  I'm exhausted I get into Raleigh and one of the craziest stories of my life happens.  So my boss has been renting cars through Priceline this week I got a different company than the other weeks. The company gives me a Ford Focus and I plug in the coordinates on my IPhone where I want go.  I head out and then I get to the destination hotel (or I thought I did). I go inside it's the wrong hotel the other one is a few miles away.  I walk outside hop into the car and it sounds like a gunshot.  Nothing is starting...Am I doing something wrong?  No I'm not the car is completely dead in the water.  I call the rental car facility and they tell me to call roadside they are closing for the night.  Roadside says they can't give me a new car but they can get me a jump then I have to take it up with the facility.  They send me a tow truck to give me a jump the guy can't jump the car.  He tells me this vehicle was towed about an hour ago.  He shows me a copy of a slip from when he towed it.  We also notice the rental car company left one of there price scanning guns in the vehicle.  I call up roadside and now they are interested in getting me a car because I need to be onsite tomorrow.  They get the manager of the facility on the phone he apologizes profusely and he says he'll be there in 10 minutes.  About 30 minutes pass and him plus another dude show up with a Ford Escape leather interior.  At this point I hand him the gun tell him someone left it in the vehicle and that I'm not so happy with them.  I ask them to comp my rental they can't due to Priceline, however if I call him again this week he can get me a voucher.  It's about 2 am and I'm ready to get to the hotel I don't make it in the next morning until 10 am.  I would say this was a crazy week all forms of technology are trying to tell me something.  What I have no idea, but we'll see the outcome soon.  I feel so weird tons of change is about to happen.  I don't know if it's good or bad.  I think this week is some form of omen.

(I'm not entirely sure if you could support both Isis and Google Wallet on the same phone.  Anybody know?) Then you can download the Isis app from Google Play and load your cards.  Most credit cards are supported, and there's a process to verify the credit cards are valid.  Then you can select from the list of participating retailers to "follow."  Selecting a retailer allows that retailer to give you offers via the app. The app is well done and easy to use.  You can select a default payment type and also switch between them easily.  When the phone is tapped on the reader, there are two exchanges of information.  The payment information is transferred, and then the Isis "SmartTap" information which includes optional loyalty number and digital coupons.  Of course the value of mobile wallets comes from the ease of handling all three data types (i.e. payment, loyalty, offers). In any relationship, sooner or later, the excitement fades away.  The honeymoon period gives way to the old routines you had, before you committed to each other and you eventually begin doing things apart from one another.  I’m not talking about a marriage…  Well, I guess I am.Commitment to a CRM tool and building a deep and lasting relationship is not much different than the basics of a traditional love story.  After your controlled CRM pilot program, and maybe the National Sales Meeting where you couldn’t escape those three wonderful letters, CRM, you will soon find that if you haven’t designed an environment where it’s going to enable your reps to make more money, the relationship is doomed.   . If you’re currently in a dysfunctional CRM relationship, here are 4 simple tips to re-engaging users and getting that spark back. Shadow a Sales Rep:   Chances are you can find out exactly what is preventing your sales reps from using the application by simply watching how they go about their day.  Sales reps are driven by money, not by additional administrative duties.  Your system needs to be setup so that they can get the information they need quickly, facilitate making key updates and run their business out of one easy-to-use application.  Increase your sales team’s productivity by 5% automatically:    Cancel the weekly forecast calls with your reps and require them update their opportunities in CRM.  Something else that I’ve seen work extremely well, is when you do Monthly or Quarterly reviews, do not let your sales reps bring anything into the room with them; no spreadsheets, notebooks, or computers.  Everything they need to tell you should be able to be put into CRM and fully accessible by the Sales Manager at any time.  Tool time:      Make sure the tools that you have selected meet both your short-term goals and your long term goals.   You need tools that can adapt like your business does.  You probably can’t wait two months for an update to a picklist value or for the addition of a simple workflow rule.  Do you feel the tools that are in place can create the experience you want for your users? and finally, if all else fails... • GameStateManagement and inputs not being recognized

  EDIT: I've removed a bit of code from the input class to make this more readable, and updated my StartScreen class, which is now at the bottom. I have the same issues though, but they are explained in my comments on the bottom of this page. It won't let me paste my additional code here (the format comes out crazy), so I've linked to pastebin with the code pastebin I've been trying to implement the MS provided GameStateManagement sample with my game, but it has proven a bit difficult. Really, I'm using Oneksoft's Starter Kit, which uses the MS provided sample, so they are identical, except for my splash screen. I'm able to get the splash screen to launch, where it informs the player to press A to advance the screen, but this doesn't seem to accept any of my inputs. I’ve also added Console.Writeline(“Pressing A”) under the IsMenuPressed method in Input.cs to verify that it is getting called, but for some reason it is constantly spamming my log, rather than just appearing each time I press it. Not sure why this is happening.   Well I am trying to learn openGL and want to make a triangle move one unit (0.1) everytime I press one of the keyboard arrows. However i want the triangle to turn first pointing the direction where i will move one unit. So if my triangle is pointing up and I press right the it should point right first and then move one unit in the x axis. I have implemented the code to move the object one unit in any direction, however I can not get it to turn pointing to the direction it is going. • WebLogic stuck thread protection

  By default WebLogic kills stuck threads after 15 min (600 s), this is controlled by StuckThreadMaxTime parameter. However, I cannot find more details on how exactly "stuckness" is defined. Specifically: What is the point at which 15 min countdown begins. Request processing start? Last wait()-like method? Something else? Does this apply only to request-processing threads or to all threads? I.e. can a request-processing thread "escape" this protection by spawning a worker thread for a long task? Especially, can it delegate response writing to such a worker without 15 min countdown? My usecase is download of huge files through a permission system. Since a user needs to be authenticated and have permissions to view a file, I cannot (or at least don't know how) leave this to a simple HTTP server, e.g. Apache. And because files can be huge, download could (at least in theory) take more than 15 minutes.

• Non Blocking Keyboard on WinCE accessing the virtual keyboard

  Hello Guys, I am desperately looking for a solution that enables me to read keyboard events in a non blocking way. These Keyboard events are generated by a VIRTUAL KEYBOARD that comes with the WinCE device. I have a console application running in C++, where the user is asked to navigate via 'ESC', 'U' and other characters through the menu. I first tried to use fread and stdin and realised that it is blocking call and waits for a carriage return. Then I tried to hook up to the windows message WM_KEYUP, but I never recieve this windows message. Furthermore I tried to use QtGUI together with the event QKeyEvent, but I never recieve any event. I wonder if it is in general possible to recieve non-blocking keyboard events on a WinCE device. I would be glad if you have any suggestions! Cheers, Jan

• How can I truncate an NSString to a set length?

  I searched, but surprisingly couldn't find an answer. I have a long NSString that I want to shorten. I want the maximum length to be around 20 characters. I read somewhere that the best solution is to use substringWithRange. Is this the best way to truncate a string? NSRange stringRange = {0,20}; NSString *myString = @"This is a string, it's a very long string, it's a very long string indeed"; NSString *shortString = [myString substringWithRange:stringRange]; It seems a little delicate (crashes if the string is shorter than the maximum length). I'm also not sure if it's Unicode-safe. Is there a better way to do it? Does anyone have a nice category for this?

• Print raw data to a thermal-printer using c#

  Hi, I'm trying to print out raw ascii data to a thermal printer. I do this by using this code example: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322091 but my printer prints always only one character and this not until I press the form feed button. If I print something with notepad the printer will do a form feed automatically but without printing any text. The printer is connected via usb over a lpt2usb adapter and Windows 7 uses the "Generic - Generic / Text Only" driver. Anyone knows what is going wrong? How is it possible to print some words and do some form feeds? Are there some control characters I have to send? And if yes: How do I send them? Thanks!

• WPF, PreviewKeyDown event and underscore char

  Hi, I'm catching key hits with PreviewKeyDown event in my WPF component. I need to distinguish characters being typed: letters vs. numbers vs. underscore vs. anything else. Letters and numbers work fine (just convert the Key property of the KeyEventArgs object to string and work with character 0 of that string), but this won't work for underscore. It's ToString value depends on localized keyboard settings (it shows up as "OemMinus" on EN/US keyboard and "OemQuestion" on CZ/QWERTY keyboard). So how can I RELIABLY find out, if the typed char is underscore in the PreviewKeyDown event? Thanks for any help

• Fail to launch application (CreateProcess error=87), can't use shorten classpath workaround

  When I launch our application in Eclipse on Windows I receive the following error: Exception occured executing command line. Cannot run program .. : CreateProcess error=87, The parameter is incorrect I've solved this in the past by shortening the CLASSPATH. I've now come to a point where I can no longer shorten the CLASSPATH, and would like to know if there are any other workarounds. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830473 seems to indicate that the max command prompt line length in windows xp is 8191 characters, and the only solution is to shorten folder names, reduce depth of folder trees, using parameter files, etc.

  In Ruby, what regex will strip out all but a desired string if present in the containing string? I know about /[^abc]/ for characters, but what about strings? Say I have the string "group=4&type_ids[]=2&type_ids[]=7&saved=1" and want to retain the pattern group=\d, if it is present in the string using only a regex? Currently, I am splitting on & and then doing a select with matching condition =~ /group=\d/ on the resulting enumerable collection. It works fine, but I'd like to know the regex to do this more directly.

• MySQL and GROUP_CONCAT() maximum length

  Hello everyone, I'm using GROUP_CONCAT() in a MySQL query to convert multiple rows into a single string. However, the maximum length of the result of this function is 1024 characters. I'm very well aware that I can change the param group_concat_max_len to increase this limit: SET SESSION group_concat_max_len = 1000000; However, on the server I'm using, I can't change any param. Not by using the preceding query and not by editing any configuration file. So my question is: Is there any other way to get the output of a multiple row query into a single string? • Common vulnerabilities for WinForms applications

  I'm not sure if this is on-topic or not here, but it's so specific to .NET WinForms that I believe it makes more sense here than at the Security stackexchange site. (Also, it's related strictly to secure coding, and I think it's as on-topic as any question asking about common website vulnerabiitles that I see all over the site.) For years, our team has been doing threat modeling on Website projects. Part of our template includes the OWASP Top 10 plus other well-known vulnerabilities, so that when we're doing threat modeling, we always make sure that we have a documented process to addressing each of those common vulnerabilities. Example: SQL Injection (Owasp A-1) Standard Practice Use Stored Parameterized Procedures where feasible for access to data where possible Use Parameterized Queries if Stored Procedures are not feasible. (Using a 3rd party DB that we can't modify) Escape single quotes only when the above options are not feasible Database permissions must be designed with least-privilege principle By default, users/groups have no access While developing, document the access needed to each object (Table/View/Stored Procedure) and the business need for access. [snip] At any rate, we used the OWASP Top 10 as the starting point for commonly known vulnerabilities specific to websites. (Finally to the question) On rare occasions, we develop WinForms or Windows Service applications when a web app doesn't meet the needs. I'm wondering if there is an equivalent list of commonly known security vulnerabilities for WinForms apps. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few.... SQL Injection is still a concern Buffer Overflow is normally prevented by the CLR, but is more possible if using non-managed code mixed in with managed code .NET code can be decompiled, so storing sensitive info in code, as opposed to encrypted in the app.config... Is there such a list, or even several versions of such a list, from which we can borrow to create our own? If so, where can I find it? I haven't been able to find it, but if there is one, it would be a great help to us, and also other WinForms developers.

• device.uuid undefined in PhoneGap on Android?

  I'm writing a PhoneGap application that sends requests to a central database. It needs to be able to identify the unique devices that connect to it. PhoneGap's device.uuid property would seem to do the trick. On webOS and iPhone, I get back a unique string of alphanumeric characters, which will satisfy my need. However, the Android devices I've tested (Motorola Droid and the Android SDK emulator, both running Android 2.1) return "undefined" as the device.uuid. device.platform and device.name return correct values on all three platforms, so the problem doesn't have to do with the device object itself (it's defined in the code blocks where I use it). Is this an Android limitation? A problem with PhoneGap? Is there any other way to get such a globally unique identifier if not through device.uuid? EDIT: It appears that the deviceready event is never getting fired, which needs to happen before the device.uuid property becomes available.

• Geting SelectList to MVC view using AJAX/jQuery

  Hi all. I have a C# MVC application which is populating a dropdown based on a date selected. Once the date is selected I am sending it to an action via AJAX/jQuery. The action gets a list of items to return for that date. Here is where my problem is. I have done it previously where I render a partial view from the action and pass it the SelectList as the model. However, I really just want to do it inline in the original view, so I'm hoping there is some way I can return the SelectList and from there do some magic Javascript/JQuery to put it into a dropdown. Has anybody ever done this before? If so, what do I on the client end after calling the load() to return the SelectList? I've done something like this previously, when I was just returning a string or other value to be rendered as straight text: $("#returnTripRow").load("/Trip.aspx/GetTripsForGivenDate?date=" + escape(selection)); But I'm not sure how to intercept the data and morph it into am Html.DropDown() call, or equivalent. • Encryption Product Keys : Public and Private key encryption

  I need to generate and validate product keys and have been thinking about using a public/private key system. I generate our product keys based on a client name (which could be a variable length string) a 6 digit serial number. It would be good if the product key would be of a manageable length (16 characters or so) I need to encrypt them at the base and then distrubute the decryption/validation system. As our system is written in managed code (.NET) we dont want to distribute the encryption system, only the decryption. I need a public private key seems a good way to do this, encrypt with the one key that i keep and distribute the other key needed for decrpytion/verification. What is an appropriate mechanism to do this with the above requirements?
