• Simple Xml list parsing problem

  I have this xml: <root> <fruitlist> <apple>4</apple> <apple>5</apple> <orange>2</orange> <orange>6</orange> </fruitlist> </root> I'm writing a parser class, although I can't figure out how to deal with multiple node types. I can easily parse a list that contains only one node type (eg. just apples, not oranges) @ElementList(name = "fruitlist") private List<Apple> exercises; with more than one node type it also wants so parse non Apple nodes which doesn't work. I also tried to make another list for oranges, but it doen't work, I can't use fruitlist name more than once. @ElementList(name = "fruitlist", entry = "orange") private List<Orange> exercises; The ideal would be two seperate list for both node types. • How to get an element using inner text (Watir, Nokogir, Hpricot)

  I have been expeirmenting with Watir, Nokogir and Hpricot. All of these use top-down approach which is my problem. i.e. they use element type to search element. I want to find out the element using the text without knowing element type. e.g. <element1> <element2> Text2 </element2> <element3> Text3 </element3> text4 </element1> I want is to get element2 and element1 etc by searching for Text2 and Text3. Please note that I do not know if elements are divs or tr/tds or links etc. I just know the text. Algorithem should be something like : iterated through all the elements, match inner text, if match get me the element and the parent element. Let me kow if this is possible in any way?

• NHibernate HiLo generation and SQL 2005/8 Schemas

  I have an issue on my hands that I've spent several days searching for an answer to no avail... We're using HiLo Id generation, and everything seems to be working fine, as long as the entity table is in the same schema as the hibernate_unique_key table. The table structure is pretty simple. I have my hi value table in the db as dbo.hibernate_unique_key. Several entity table are also in the dbo schema, and they work without issue. Then we have tables under the "Contact" schema (such as Contact.Person and Contact.Address). In the Person Mapping file: <class name="Person" table="Person" schema="Contact"> <id name="Id" unsaved-value="0"> <generator class="hilo"> <param name="max_lo">100</param> </generator> </id> ... When I try to insert a Person entity, I get an error of "Invalid object name 'Contact.hibernate_unique_key'. That error is certainly clear enough. So I add: <param name="schema">dbo</param> to my mapping file/generator element. Now, when the SessionFactory is built, I get a "An item with the same key has already been added." error. So now I'm a bit stuck. I can't leave the HiLo generator without a schema, because it picks up the schema from the Class, and I can't specify the schema because it's already been added (presumably because it's my "default_schema" as identified in my XML cfg file). Am I completely hosed here? Must I either A) Keep all my tables in the dbo schema or B) Create a separate HiLo Key table for each unique schema in the DB? Neither of those scenarios is particularly palatable for my application, so I'm hoping that I can "fix" my mapping files to address this issue.

• FileSystem.GetFiles() + UnauthorizedAccessException error?

  Hello, It seems like FileSystem.GetFiles() is unable to recover from the UnauthorizedAccessException exception that .Net triggers when trying to access an off-limit directory. In this case, does it mean this class/method isn't useful when scanning a whole drive and I should use some other solution (in which case: Which one?)? • How to determine the (natural) language of a document?

  I have a set of documents in two languages: English and German. There is no usable meta information about these documents, a program can look at the content only. Based on that, the program has to decide which of the two languages the document is written in. Is there any "standard" algorithm for this problem that can be implemented in a few hours' time? Or alternatively, a free .NET library or toolkit that can do this? I know about LingPipe, but it is Java Not free for "semi-commercial" usage This problem seems to be surprisingly hard. I checked out the Google AJAX Language API (which I found by searching this site first), but it was ridiculously bad. For six web pages in German to which I pointed it only one guess was correct. The other guesses were Swedish, English, Danish and French... A simple approach I came up with is to use a list of stop words. My app already uses such a list for German documents in order to analyze them with Lucene.Net. If my app scans the documents for occurrences of stop words from either language the one with more occurrences would win. A very naive approach, to be sure, but it might be good enough. Unfortunately I don't have the time to become an expert at natural-language processing, although it is an intriguing topic.

• Textbox autofill not in correct position in safari

  Hello All, Has anyone experience this weird issue on safari? Textbox autofill is not at its correct position, please see screenshot below. I have been searching for answers in google for almost a day, still no luck. This is the built-in autofill feature of safari. • Web service request ignores basic WSDL XML element restrictions

  Hi all, I have encountered some difficulties while trying to validate an incoming soap message to a service I have running on JBoss AS (v. 5.1.0). In my code, I have explicitly set some fields to be required, eg: public class MyClass { @XmlElement(required=true, nillable=false) private List<myOtherObjects> myList; } This requirement is also reflected in the WSDL (note the lack of minOccurs="0"): <xs:element maxOccurs="unbounded" name="myList" type="tns:myOtherObjects" /> However, when I do a test soap message that has myList set to empty or null, these restrictions are completely ignored, forcing me to validate manually within the application logic on the service. I did some searching on the Internet and found out that, on WebLogic, the validation does not seem to be enabled by default, though it can be turned on by modifying the weblogic-webservices.xml file. (http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=783972&tstart=115) I’m wondering if there is something similar that I have to do with JBoss AS to enable automatic validation before the soap message reaches the service. • Changing App.config at Runtime

  I'm writing a test winforms / C# / .NET 3.5 application for the system we're developing and we fell in the need to switch between .config files at runtime, but this is turning out to be a nightmare. Here's the scene: the Winforms application is aimed at testing a WebApp, divided into 5 subsystems. The test proccess works with messages being sent between the subsystems, and for this proccess to be sucessful each subsystem got to have its own .config file. For my Test Application I wrote 5 separate configuration files. I wish I was able to switch between these 5 files during runtime, but the problem is: I can programatically edit the application .config file inumerous times, but these changes will only take effect once. I've been searching a long time for a form to address this problem but I still wasn't sucessful. I know the problem definition may be a bit confusing but I would really appreciate it if someone helped me. Thanks in advance! --- UPDATE 01-06-10 --- There's something I didn't mention before. Originally, our system is a Web Application with WCF calls between each subsystem. For performance testing reasons (we're using ANTS 4), we had to create a local copy of the assemblies and reference them from the test project. • C# BackgroundWorker skips DoWork and goes straight to RunWorkerCompleted

  I'm new with C# so go easy on me! So far - I have a console app that listens for client connections and replies to the client accordingly. I also have a WPF form with a button and a text box. The button launches some code to connect to the server as a BackgroundWorker, which then waits for a response before appending it to the end of the text box. This works great, once. Sometimes twice. But then it kept crashing - turns out that the DoWork block wasn't being called at all and it was going straight to RunWorkerCompleted. Of course, the .result is blank so trying to convert it to a string fails. Is this a rookie mistake? I have tried searching the internet for various ways of saying the above but haven't come across anything useful... • Question about SQL Server HierarchyID depth-first performance

  I am trying to implement hierarchyID in a table (dbo.[Message]) containing roughly 50,000 rows (will grow substantially in the future). However it takes 30-40 seconds to retrieve about 25 results. The root node is a filler in order to provide uniqueness, therefor every subsequent row is a child of that dummy row. I need to be able to traverse the table depth-first and have made the hierarchyID column (dbo.[Message].MessageID) the clustering primary key, have also added a computed smallint (dbo.[Message].Hierarchy) which stores the level of the node. Usage: A .Net application passes through a hierarchyID value into the database and I want to be able to retrieve all (if any) children AND parents of that node (besides the root, as it is filler). A simplified version of the query I am using: @MessageID hierarchyID /* passed in from application */ SELECT m.MessageID, m.MessageComment FROM dbo.[Message] as m WHERE m.Messageid.IsDescendantOf(@MessageID.GetAncestor((@MessageID.GetLevel()-1))) = 1 ORDER BY m.MessageID From what I understand, the index should be detected automatically without a hint. From searching forums I have seen people utilizing index hints, at least in the case of breadth-first indexes, as apparently CLR calls may be opaque to the query optimizer. I have spent the past few days trying to find a solution for this issue, but to no avail. I would greatly appreciate any assistance, and as this is my first post, I apologize in advance if this would be considered a 'noobish' question, I have read the MS documentation and searched countless forums, but have not came across a succinct description of the specific issue.

• Delete record in Linq to Sql

  I have Linq2Sql classes User, Page, and UserPage (from a junction table), i.e. a many-to-many relationship. I'm using a gridview to show all Users, with a dropdownlist in each row to show the Pages visited by each user. Now I want to be able to delete records through the gridview, so I have added a delete button in the gridview by setting "Enable deleting" on it. Then I tried to use the RowDeleting event to specify how to delete the records since it doesn't work by default. So, say I have 3 records in the gridview: 1 Jack stackoverflow.com 2 Betty stackoverflow.com/questions 3 Joe stackoverflow.com/whatever Now, if I try to delete user 1 (Jack), record number 1 will indeed disappear in the gridview, but the same record will appear at the end with a new id: 2 Jack stackoverflow.com 3 Betty stackoverflow.com/questions 4 Joe stackoverflow.com/whatever I have tried searching on how to delete records using Linq, and I believe I'm doing exacly as the examples I have read (e.g. the second example here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Bb386925%28v=VS.100%29.aspx). I have read that you can also set cascade delete on the relationship in the database, but I wanted to do it this way in code, as your supposed to be able to. So what am I doing wrong?

  I have a content and i want to search a keyword in that content. Content When charting multiple data series, or just to improve the appearance of your charts, you can control the fill for each series in the chart or each item in a series. The fill lets you specify a pattern that defines how Flex draws the chart element. You also use fills to specify the background colors of the chart or bands of background colors defined by the grid lines. Fills can be solid or can use linear and radial gradients. A gradient specifies a gradual color transition in the fill color therefore. NOw, if the keyword we are searching is "When", it is the starting word so should display as "When charting multiple data ..........." If the keyword is "draws" , it lies in middle so should be displayed as ".... how Flex draws....." If the kewyword is "therefore", it is in the last position so should be displayed as ".........transition in the fill color therefore." Can anyone help me out how to do this in php server script?

• Archive log transfer from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10g

  Hi all, I have a situation where I need to transfer Oracle 9i archive logs to an Oracle 10g database, from where they are to be mined by a log-miner and then used by an Oracle streams capture/apply processes. (Oracle 9 archive logs can be read by the Oracle 10 logminer - I can manually copy the archive logs across, manually register them and have them mined, captured then applied). The difficulty is that the way Oracle does archive log transfer changed quite a bit between 9i and 10g and setting up the 9i database to transfer to the remote machine like so: log_archive_dest_state_2 = enable log_archive_dest_2 = "service=OTHERMACHINE arch optional" no longer works. I get this in the 9i logs: *** 2009-05-22 04:03:44.149 RFS network connection lost at host 'OTHERMACHINE' Error 3113 attaching RFS server to standby instance at host 'OTHERMACHINE' Error 3113 attaching to destination LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 standby host 'OTHERMACHINE' Heartbeat failed to connect to standby 'OTHERMACHINE'. Error is 3113. *** 2009-05-22 04:03:44.150 kcrrfail: dest:2 err:3113 force:0 ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel And in the 10g log I get: Fri May 22 04:07:42 2009 WARNING: inbound connection timed out (ORA-3136) My question is: Does anyone know how I could configure my 9i or 10g server such that the 10g server will accept the 9i connection in such a way that I can transfer the 9i archive logs to the 10g server. It would be a bonus if the archive logs would be automatically registered in the 10g server. Note I have not set up a full DataGuard configuration here and the 10g database is not a secondary server. Thanks for any suggestions. Edit Note that I can log on to the 10g server from the 9i server via sqlplus, so connectivity is not the problem Edit 2 After a large amount of time searching for a solution, I've finally decided that such a mechanism doesn't work, and that a non-Oracle method of transferring archive logs from 9i to 10g will need to be used (e.g. rsync).

• Managing Cisco programatically; Telnet vs SNMP?

  I was recently approached by a network-engineer, co-worker who would like to offload his minor network admin duties to a junior-level helpdesk tech. The specific location in need of management acts as an ISP for tenants on its single-site property, so there's a lot of small adjustments being made on a daily basis. I am thinking it would be helpful to write him a winform app to manage the 32 Cisco devices, on-site. I'd like to initially provide functionality which could modify access control lists, port VLAN assignments, and bandwidth limitations per VLAN... adding more to the list as its deemed valuable. My initial thought was to emulate a telnet session with the network device; utilizing my network-engineer's familiarity with the command-line / IOS interaction. Minimal time would be required to learn Cisco IOS conventions, myself. Though while searching for solutions, it appears that most people favor SNMP. That, or, their specific circumstances pushed them in the direction of SNMP. I wanted to know if I've overlooked an obvious benefit of SNMP. Should I be using SNMP? Why or why not?

• Why doesn't my cursor change to an Hourglass in my FindDialog in Delphi?

  I am simply opening my FindDialog with: FindDialog.Execute; In my FindDialog.OnFind event, I want to change the cursor to an hourglass for searches through large files, which may take a few seconds. So in the OnFind event I do this: Screen.Cursor := crHourglass; (code that searches for the text and displays it) ... Screen.Cursor := crDefault; What happens is while searching for the text, the cursor properly changes to the hourglass (or rotating circle in Vista) and then back to the pointer when the search is completed. However, this only happens on the main form. It does not happen on the FindDialog itself. The default cursor remains on the FindDialog during the search. While the search is happening if I move the cursor over the FindDialog it changes to the default, and if I move it off and over the main form it becomes the hourglass. This does not seem like what is supposed to happen. Am I doing something wrong or does something special need to be done to get the cursor to be the hourglass on all forms? For reference, I'm using Delphi 2009.

• Java & Maven generating -and using- my own archetype

  Hello again! I have been busy in my project creating a webapp (in struts) that manages maven, using maven-2.2.1-uber.jar link text. The problem comes when the boss says it has to use some archetypes the company has created (so no predefined archetypes for you naughty boy!). So ok, I use the -DarchetypeRepository option (with ServletWrapper I get my complete web direction, becouse the repository will be inside the app), and the log seems to find it, but then the build fails -miserably- with this little text 'Build Failure - The defined artifact is not an archetype' as simple as that. Of course I have a lot of INFO lines that say abslutily nothig related. I have read the maven definitive guide searching for some kind of help, but it has been disapointing at best. My thoughts are thatmaybe I am missing in somewhere of all the folders tree some xml that actually sais maven that my pom.xml is an archetype not a project. But I really, really, can't find anything on the net or in the manuals that explains easy-handed how the archetype:generate (with special parameters) works and where I have to put every folder and/or file. So just to say my thoughts aloud (and hopefully you understand what I am trying to ask): I have a template where I do some xml changes (variables, etc...), then I have to call maen and do an archetype:generate with a variable project. The problem seems to be that my actual confuguration doesn't like what I am doing. After the generation of the archetype, witch luckly will create some directory trees and leave me a POM.xml somewhere I still have to do some variable changes and more xml manage stuff, so it whould be very kind from maven to don't destroy anything in this process. Any ideas why this maven-thing is not happly-ever-after asuming that my archetype is defintly an archetype? Allthought I think the code is ok, it could be wrong, as I am using maven-ubber and I call the actual CSMavenCli.main(String[, ClassWorld), I don't think it is the case this time. • SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services and the Report Viewer

  I am having an issue embedding my report into an aspx page. Here's my setup: 1 Server running SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services 1 Workstation running XP and VS 2005 The server is not on a domain. Reporting Services is a default installation. I have one report called TestMe in a folder called TestReports using a shared datasource. If I view the report in Report Manager, it renders fine. If I view the report using the http ://myserver/reportserver url it renders fine. If I view the report using the http ://myserver/reportserver?/TestReports/TestMe it renders fine. If I try to view the report using http ://myserver/reportserver/TestReports/TestMe, it just goes to the folder navigation page of the home directory. My web application is impersonating somebody specific to get around the server not being on a domain. When I call the report from the report viewer using http ://myserver/reportserver as the server and /TestReports/TestMe as the path I get this error: For security reasons DTD is prohibited in this XML document. To enable DTD processing set the ProhibitDtd property on XmlReaderSettings to false and pass the settings into XmlReader.Create method. When I change the server to http ://myserver/reportserver? I get this error when I run the report: Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with an empty response. I have been searching for a while and haven't found anything that fixes my issue. Please let me know if there is more information needed. Thanks in advance, Kendra

• How can I call from my PC through my cisco ip phone?

  Hi gurus, I am trying to call a telephone number fro my PC through my ip phone once my application completes its work. So I am searching for a way to access my ip phone from my PC. Please correct me if I am wrong or missing the obvious. On my PC in office selecting a phone in Microsoft office communicator and making calls from PC through my Cisco IP Phone is disabled. Is there any way i can programmatically call a external phone or mobile number from my PC as my ip phone is connected to my PC. I tried out etQuickDial and Make/Drop calls. But I am not able to find the appropriate way or setup to make calls. I also googled for any libraries and i saw some TAPI but was not able to get correct way. Please help me out with this. My cisco ip phone is 7940. My environment is Windows XP. Please let me know if you need more details. No problems with me even if you propose a solution involving coding or a non coding way of downloading and installing any applications. Thanks in advance. If you dont want me to post it here and If I need to put it in super user or server fault or some where else please direct me appropriately. • Are there any applications written in the Io programming language? (Or, distributing Io applications

  I've recently become interested in prototype-based OOP, and I've been playing with Io and Ioke. Distributing an application with Ioke is simple. It's on the JVM. Need I say more? However, I'm absolutely stumped as to how one would distribute an Io application, especially on Windows. It's not like you can have end-users compile Io to run your application. I was actually shocked the Io has gone for 8 years without forming some sort of standards for things like distribution. Ruby has gems, Java has jars, and so on. The worse thing about it is, I can't find a single application written in Io to maybe steal ideas on distribution from. Maybe I suck at google searching (Io is a horrible search name, by the way ;P). Is there any sort of canonical way to distribute Io applications? Are there even any Io applications in existence, or am I just missing the point? I'm not sure if this should be community wiki or not. If you think it should, comment and let me know.

• How to do Basic Authentication using FireWatir on Ubuntu Linux?

  Hi, I'm trying to use FireWatir (1.6.5) to access a site using Basic Authentication and I've been unable to find a solution that works on Firefox in Linux. Does FireWatir 1.6.5 support Basic Authentication on Linux? I've been searching the web for 2 days and can't get a straight answer anywhere as to how to do this. The only thread I found that seemed helpful was this one ( http://groups.google.com/group/watir-general/browse_thread/thread/d8ab9a177d282ce4/fc1bf2319fb387d8?lnk=gst&q=basic+authentication#fc1bf2319fb387d8). Aedorn Varanis says " Angrez's fork had the solution so I'm using that now. Thanks Angrez, works perfectly!", but he doesn't mention what he did to get things working. Initially I tried to bypass the authentication dialog box by using: browser.goto('http://admin:[email protected]') However, this generates a "Confirm" dialog which says: "You are about to log in to the site "172.20.1.1" with the username "admin"." [Cancel, OK] This dialog blocks, and the goto call won't return until I click "OK". Then I tried adding: browser.startClicker("ok") browser.goto('http://admin:[email protected]') But this ALSO generates the same "Confirm" dialog. I tested out the startClicker functionality using the unit test /var/ lib/gems/1.8/gems/firewatir-1.6.5/unittests/html/JavascriptClick.html and it worked fine, which makes me think that using the startClicker method is NOT the correct way to take care of the Confirm dialog. Anybody else found a way to get Basic Auth to work, or how to click the OK on the confirm dialog? I'm at my wits end...

• edmx - The operation could not be completed - After adding Inheritance

  Hey guys I have an edmx model which I have draged 2 tables onto - One called 'File' and the other 'ApplicaitonFile'. These two tables have a 1 to 1 relationship in the database. If I stop here everything works fine. But in my model, I want 'ApplicaitonFile' to inherit from 'File'. So I delete the 1 to 1 relationship then configure 'ApplicaitonFile' from 'File' and then remove the FileId from 'ApplicaitonFile' which was the primary key. (Note I am following the instructions from here). If I leave the model open at this point everything is fine, but as soon as I close it, if I try and reopen it again I get the following error "The operation could not be completed". I have been searching for a solution and found this - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/944050/entity-model-does-not-load but as far as I can tell I don't have a duplicate InheritanceConnectors (although I don't know exactly what I'm looking for but I can't see anything out of the ordinary - like 2 connectors with the same name) and the relationship I originally have is a 1 to 1 not a 1 to 0..1 Any ideas???

• How do you efficiently implement a document similarity search system?

  How do you implement a "similar items" system for items described by a set of tags? In my database, I have three tables, Article, ArticleTag and Tag. Each Article is related to a number of Tags via a many-to-many relationship. For each Article i want to find the five most similar articles to implement a "if you like this article you will like these too" system. I am familiar with Cosine similarity and using that algorithm works very well. But it is way to slow. For each article, I need to iterate over all articles, calculate the cosine similarity for the article pair and then select the five articles with the highest similarity rating. With 200k articles and 30k tags, it takes me half a minute to calculate the similar articles for a single article. So I need another algorithm that produces roughly as good results as cosine similarity but that can be run in realtime and which does not require me to iterate over the whole document corpus each time. Maybe someone can suggest an off-the-shelf solution for this? Most of the search engines I looked at does not enable document similarity searching.

• Zend Framework how to echo value of SUM query

  Hello, I created a query for the zend framework, in which I try to retrieve the sum of a column, in this case the column named 'time'. This is the query I use: $this->timequery = $this->db_tasks->fetchAll($this->db_tasks->select()->from('tasks', 'SUM(time)')->where('projectnumber =' . $this->value_project)); $this->view->sumtime = $this->timequery; Echoing the query tells me this is right. But I can't echo the result properly. Currently I'm using: echo $this->sumtime['SUM(time)']; Returning the following error: Catchable fatal error: Object of class Zend_Db_Table_Row could not be converted to string in C:\xampp\htdocs\BManagement\application\views\scripts\tasks\index.phtml on line 46 Line 46 being the line with the echo in my view. I've been searching now for two days on how to figure this out, or achieve the same result in a different way. Tried to serialize the value, but that didn't work either. Is there somebody who knows how to achieve the total sum of a database column? Any help is greatly appriciated! note: Pretty new to zend framework...
