• Resolve a many-SSL-to-one IP for clients browsers that doesn't support SNI

  Whoa, acronyms :) So according to this question you can have multiple SSL subdomains on one IP address as long as your server supports TLS (which Apache 2.2x does). Another answer to that question points out that the client browser must have SNI support to work, which IE doesn't have on Windows XP. So, what happens to people with that browser is a warning message saying that the SSL cert doesn't match the domain. Can one resolve this issue for those client browsers without SNI support? Does a wildcard (for subdomains) do the trick? Are there other (cheaper) options?

  I'm having trouble with running a bare example. I'm using this to declare a function in Cython coming from cinterf.h header: cdef extern from 'cinterf.h': int xsb_init_string(char* p_xsb_path) The declaration in the C header file is: DllExport extern int call_conv xsb_init_string(char *); both DllExport and call_conv are macros defined elsewhere, and resolve to GCC compiler directives. do I have to use those as well inside cdef to fully match the declaration? When I call xsb_init_string() as: xsb_init_string('some string') The python interpreter gives me: 'ImportError: ./py_ext.so: undefined symbol: xsb_init_string' Am I declaring the xsb_init_string() signature properly, inside cdef?

• Debian Unstable + Postfix 2.6.5 + dkim-filter 2.8.2 issue

  I have Postfix installed on Debian Unstable, as the title states, the system is completely up-to-date, I have tried to get DKIM signatures working on outgoing mail using dkim-filter 2.8.2. I couldn't use the default Debian way of doing things with sockets, instead I used the Ubuntu way: SOCKET="inet:12345@localhost"` I have the following in my postfix/main.cf milter_default_action = accept milter_protocol = 6 smtpd_milters = inet:localhost:12345 non_smtpd_milters = inet:localhost:12345 All is fine except I get the following message I start DKIM in mail.log: dkim-filter[22029]: can't configure DKIM library; continuing And when it tries to sign mails I get the following error: postfix/cleanup[22042]: warning: milter inet:localhost:12345: can't read SMFIC_EOH reply packet header: Success And then dkim-filter daemon stops. I've looked through Google but found no actual way to fix this that works for me. I have this working fine on an Ubuntu server but would love to get it working on Debian too.

• Issues with partitions WIN 7

  I was trying to make some space to install linux in my HP notebook. The computer had 4 partitions, I made space shrinking one and created a new one (facepalm) using the windows partitioning tool. It show me some warning message saying something about dynamic partitions, I ingored it, and went to the linux live CD. I installed linux in the new partition, after the installation completed it told me that GRUB cannot be installed I dont remember why. So now, it doesnt boot, neither windows nor linux. • pure-ftpd debian, can't get www-data user working

  I'm trying to add FTP access to the apache web files, in the past I have done this with an ftpuser and group arrangement. This time I would like to make it possible to login directly as www-data (the default apache user on debian) to make things a bit cleaner. I have checked and re-checked all the common issues; MinUID is set to 1 (www-data has uid 33) www-data has shell set to /bin/bash in /etc/passwd PAMAuthentication is off UnixAuthentication is on I have restarted pure-ftpd using /etc/init.d/pure-ftpd restart My resulting pure-ftpd run is; /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd -l unix -A -Y 1 -u 1 -E -O clf:/var/log/pure-ftpd/transfer.log -8 UTF-8 -B My syslog contains; Oct 7 19:46:40 Debian-60-squeeze-64 pure-ftpd: ([email protected]) [WARNING] Can't login as [www-data]: account disabled And my ftp client is giving me; 530 Sorry, but I can't trust you Am I missing something obvious?

• PECL install fails

  Hey! I have browsed every Google result, read all the forum posts about this error, but I cannot solve it. When using PECL install for anything, I always end up getting this error: checking whether the C compiler works... configure: error: cannot run C compiled programs. Everything else succeeds up to that point them bam! I'm using CentOS 4.3, PEAR is the latest stable version, GCC is a stable and recent version. Everything is working as it should, but the C compiler always seems to error. I've tried to make tmp have the right privilages for the operation by temporarily enabling it using: mount -o remount,exec,suid /tmp But that doesn't work. I've literally tried everything that has been suggested by to no avail. Any ideas?

• Black GUI with minimal desktop icons appeared after powering on my desktop PC

  My computer powered on fine but after POST, a dialog box appeared with a red "X" and it gave some sort of warning. It had a long file name, I cannot recollect the entirety of it but it was something like C:/system32/desktop....After clicking ok, the GUI was totally black with only the Recycle Bin icon in the Desktop, and the Taskbar was there as well. I restarted it, and the GUI was back to normal with the icons and wallpaper in their proper place. I'm sure if I knew more of that file name in the dialog box, that would be helpful to those reading this but should I be concerned that this happened?

• Software for monitoring internal software?

  Is there any good software for monitoring the health of a collection of related software? Requirements are as follows: Web-based, deployable on standard Linux/BSD software. Configurable to support a variety of processes, scheduled at various intervals. Some sort of dashboard interface, for monitoring status, viewing errors, etc. As an example, suppose we have a daily export that's scheduled to run at 6AM each morning. After the export completes, it would POST a status message, saying it had completed, passing in some sort of application key to identify the export. If that status message hadn't come in, by, say, 6:30AM, an e-mail might be sent, that application should go red on the dashboard, etc. Applications should also be able to post error/warning messages. Basically the goal is to be able to monitor all of our internal projects from one system, rather than a multitude of e-mails, log files, etc. I suspect that I'll probably have to end up writing this from scratch, but I just thought I'd ask.

  Hi there, I am trying to configure the LAN settings of a Windows 2008 server remotely via netsh. I've been trying this command (issued at the client) assuming the IP address of the server is 192.168.0.1: netsh -r 192.168.0.1 -u 192.168.0.1\Administrator -p password lan show config but I keep getting the following message: WARNING: Could not obtain host information from machine [192.168.0.1]. Some commands may not be available. The RPC server is unavailable. Am I understanding the command above properly? Is there a step or two that I missed in setting this up? Thanks in advance. P.S. The Routing and Remove Access service on the server is enabled.

• Mac OS X: network disabled because security breach

  Dear all, I just recieved a message on my Mac OS X system telling me (loosely translated from Dutch): "The network has been temporarily disabled because the network's security was breached." (It's a wireless WPA2-PSK secured network BTW) I looked in the logs of my router (a Zyxel P-2602HW-D1A) only to see a few (outbound) "syn flood TCP ATTACK" logs, but those were from like a week ago, other than that nothing. What tools on Mac OS X do I have to analyse this security breach occurence? Are there some security logs on Mac OS X that I can inspect? What other measurements should I take? And how serious should I take this warning from Mac OS X? System: Macbook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 Ghz OS: Mac OS X 10.5.8 Network: wireless WPA2-PSK Relevant software: Parallels Desktop with Windows XP (was open, but stopped at the time) Other systems on my network: Windows XP SP3 desktop (was running at the time) If you need any more info, don't hestitate to ask.   Today I've tried C compiler (Clang) for C code I use in my haskell library and found that I can gain speed increase in comparsing with my system compiler (GCC 4.4.3) from 426.404 Gbit/s to 0.823 Tbit/s So I decided to add some flags to control the way that C source file is compiled (i.e. something like use-clang, use-intel etc.). • Cisco VPN disconnects after 5 seconds with error 422

  I'm trying to connect to my university's server with VPN using Cisco VPN Client version 5.0.04, but after 5 seconds it disconnects with the error message 422: Lost contact with the secure gateway. Check your connection. From my research on the net it seems this could be because it tries to find my IP, and finds out that this is 127.0.0.1. Then 5 seconds later it discovers that I have a new IP (my actual IP), and it disconnects because I'm not allowed to change IP. Does anyone know how I could fix this, or if there is another reason i get this error? • Exchange 2010, multiple accepted domains, UCC and outside webhosts

  We have an Exchange 2010 server configured to send and receive mail on several accepted domains for Outlook Anywhere, with a UCC cert addressing each mail.domain.com and autodiscover.domain.com, mail.otherplace.com etc. This worked fine until an SSL domain validation cert for one of the additional domains - where the www.otherplace.com is hosted outside our org - expired. Now Exchange users in mail.otherplace.com get an expired cert warning for otherplace.com when connecting to our mail.domain.com portal. They still get mail, but with a repeated popup in Outlook 2007 and 2010. If I understand it correctly - Outlook autodiscover connects by first polling otherplace.com/autodiscover - which is the outside www server with the expired cert before continuing on to autodiscover.otherplace.com - which is where the MX record points to our in-house Exchange UCC. I'm trying to find out if we should: 1) turn down all mail functions on the outside webserver 2) delete the expired (useless for an informational site) cert on the outside webserver 3) renew the cert for otherplace.com on the outside webserver - or something completely different? • Remove Applications page on MDT 2012 Deployment Summary

  I am using SCCM 2012 and MDT 2012 for OSD and app deployment. Because of the nature of how some of the apps need to be detected (and which changes as apps get updated) they show up with a warning sign on the Applications tab of the Deployment Summary. There is pretty much no way to get them all green check marked (not realistically in our setup anyway) so I would like to get rid of that page so that I don't have to hear about it from my teams as they deploy. Any help would be appreciated. MDT Summary screen: Applications Installed (the tab I want to remove)

• esxi VM will not connect to virual switch

  I have a exsi box with a VM (Windows 2003) that will not connect to any of the switches. The switch shows the VM connected but I can not ping anything on the network. I have double checked the VM's IP. No dice. There are a ton of messages in the log: [DATE 'VmMisc' NNNNN warning] Failed to validate VM IP address: unknown Update: There are 3 other VMs. Each vSwitch has 56 ports. I can ping from one nic to the other. Each vSwitch shows that the new VM is connect. VMware ESX Server 3i V 3.5.9 Build 123629 Update 2: Out of the blue it just started working. I didn't change anything. I think it has something to do with RRAS.

• Manually start scheduled launchd job

  On our Mac OS X (10.6) Server we have setup several backup scripts that are controlled by launchd and launched at specific times. For this we have defined StartCalendarInterval and this all works very well. Now it happens that I would like to start one of these jobs out of schedule, but this does not start the job (but also does not give an error/warning): sudo launchctl start org.job-label The manpage of launchtl states that start is intended to test on-demand jobs, no word of scheduled jobs. Is there a way to kickstart scheduled jobs?
