  • Manager property is not available for Full Text Search (SharePoint 2010)

    Hi, I had created a web part on MOSS 2007 which displays a organizational chart by searching (Full Text) the user profiles. To identify the subordinates of a user, I used to search for users with the particular user in Manager property. The query looked like this: SELECT AccountName, PreferredName, Manager, WorkEmail FROM scope() WHERE ("SCOPE" = 'People') AND Manager = 'domain\parent_user' But, the same query does not run in SharePoint 2010 as Manager crawled property does not exists. So, I created a new crawled property and mapped it to People:Manager(Text) now, the Manager property is always empty. Even a full crawl after clearing the indexes also not helping. Can anyone please help me in getting manager information in Full Text Search? Thanks in advance!

  • Variable pre-fixes, Visual Studio 2010 onwards?

    I'm a bit bewildered on this subject, as I relate variable prefixes to being a thing of the past now, but with Visual Studio 2010 onwards (I'm currently using 2012), do people still do this and why? I only ask because, these days, you can hover over any variable and it'll tell you the variable type and scope. There's literally no requirement for pre-fixing being there for readability. By this I mean: string strHello int intHello etc. And I'm being language/tool biased here - as Visual Studio takes a lot of the legwork out for you in terms of seeing exactly what type the variable is, including after conversions in the code. This is not a "general programming" question.

    Hi, Is there any way to make legacy design-time code execute with NetFx40_LegacySecurityPolicy switched on? More spicificaly, is there any way to make DevExpress 8.2 winforms designer work in VisualStudio 2010? I got errors due to this issue and found no help about design-time mode, just about run-time: <runtime> <NetFx40_LegacySecurityPolicy enabled="true"/> </runtime> How should I fix problems with winforms designer?

  • VS2010 "An item with the same key has already been added"

    I recently installed Visual Studio 2010 and copied and converted an old VS2005 solution to VS2010 When I edit this solution, if I try to change a control's .image property, VS2010 creates a message box telling me that "An item with the same key has already been added" (screenshot below), and won't let me browse for an image. I can add images for any other solution, even others ported from VS2005, but not this one. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

  • Font Setting in VS2010 - missing FixedSys

    After installing VS2010 yesterday - (both VS2005 and VS2010 installed), I can't find the "FixedSys" style font from the Fonts and Colors - Font (pull down list). I can still use the font in VS2005. [update] I just searched "C:\WINDOWS\Fonts", there is no Fixedsys style in the folder. Any suggestions on how to make FixedSys available as a choice in Visual Studio 2010?

    Has anybody had any luck with the following combination F# 2.0 Silverlight v3 .NET Framework 4.0 VS 2010 I have been trying all night and I just can't seem to adopt any of the existing smaples out there to run... My goal is to have a silverlight application 100% backed by F#; the examples that are referenced as working are mostly C# silverlight apps calling F# Libraries. Which in practice should be fine - but I am really trying to impress my girlfriend :)

    I've currently got a ASP.NET MVC 2 application on .NET 3.5 and I want to migrate it over to the new .NET 4.0 with Visual Studio 2010. Reason being that it's always good to stay on top of these things - plus I really like the new automatic encoding with <%: %> and clean web.config :-) So, does anyone have any experience they could share? Looking for gotchas and the likes. I guess this could also apply to any ASP.NET Forms projects aswell. TIA, Charles

If by hand, how would you know the values needed to specify the positioning? If a tool is best, can VS2008/2010 do the job, or are there better alternatives.   • Team Foundation Server Setup/Access

    What I need: A TFS 2010 Setup that allows 2 application developers to access the TFS from remote locations. How it is setup: Server 2008 Standard 2g Ram 300g HD space SharePoint Server 2007, using SQL Server 2005 SQL Server 2008 Standard Team Foundation Server 2010 IIS 7 Sharepoint Bindings: TFS.DynAccount.Me:80; TFS:80 TFS Bindings: TFS.DynAccount.Me:8080; TFS:8080 Using DynDNS service to account for the dynamic ip address being used, this is a requirement for the moment until I can get a better isp package. Access using Local Accounts Server is not setup on a domain, or as a domain. Consequently I did not setup AD services. Problem: When logged into TFS using my credentials TFS\AdminUser through the DynDNS account TFS.DynAccount.Me I recieve the 'Red X of Death' on the Documents and Reports folder. When logged into the TFS through the local peer to peer network using the same credentials TFS\AdminUser I do not receive the 'Red X of Death' problem. Further Troubleshooting: When users 'Right Click' the 'TeamProject1' Click 'Show Project Portal' it tries to take them to http://TFS:8080 instead of http://TFS.DynAccount.Me:8080, which doing further research I am assuming that it is because team foundation server was setup with a local name of TFS instead of 'TFS.DynAccount.Me' as specified here in Visual Studio Magazines: The Red X of Death. Users can Access the Team Portal for SharePoint via http://TFS.DynAccount.Me/TeamCollection/TeamProject so it is not like we are dead in the water or anything. However, as most employees/staff are prone to do, they have expressed a great distaste for having to do it this way and just be patient until the current project is finished since we are under a very strict deadline. Is there a way to set this up differently, or change some settings someplace, reinstall it, point a CName record for our domain website to the DynAccount (e.g. TFS.OurDomain.com points to TFS.DynAccount.Me, which consequently does allow access to the http site without issues), or something. I really don't feel like after all the time and effort I have spent into, first the cost, second the bloody install, third learning SharePoint well enough, fourth the hours into days spent on this, fifth more troubleshooting, sixth employee headaches to just let it lay where it is at. I figure in my spare/off time I would keep trying to get this to work. So I really appreciate any help any one can give me. I know this is probably something really stupid simple that I will 'Face Palm' over, but at the moment the stress and frustration just has me beat.   • msbuild TransformWebConfig task - doesn't work for App.configs?

    I have a windows service that will need to have the same kind of transformations that the web.configs would use, but VS 2010 doesn't seem to support that. I've tried manually adding the App.Release.Config files, and then using msbuil [PROJ] /T:TransformWebConfig /p:Configuration=Release but no transformation is performed. I got a TransformWebConfig folder createed in my obj subdirectory, but that's it. Is this thing hardcoded to only work with web.configs?

  • Including MSVRC100.dll in C++ exe

    I created a simple C executable in Visual C++ 2010, but when others tried it they got a missing MSVCR100.dll error. Apparently, the user needs to install the Visual C++ Redistributable Package in order to run the exe. Is there any way I can instead include MSVCR100.dll inside the exe (so it's just one file, not sitting in the same folder) so people can just run the executable and have it work?     I know Visual Studio 2010 has a new Code Analysis tool built in, but that is only for the premium and ultimate editions. From what I can see the latest FxCop supports .NET 3.5 SP1. Searching I wasn't able to find any references to an FxCop for .NET 4.0. Is there plans to continue to offer FxCop and for it to support .NET 4.0? Where would I find more information about it and download it?

I have tried those actions: downloaded OpenCV 2.4.2 used CMake on opencv folder using Visual Studio 10 and Visual Studio 10 Win64 compiler built Debug and Release version with Visual Studio first without any other option and then with D_SCL_SECURE=1 specified for every project changed Matlab's mexopts.bat and adding new lines refering to library and include (see bottom for mexopts.bat content) with Visual Studio 10 compiler tried to compile a simple file with a OpenCV library inclusion and all goes well. try to compile something that actually uses OpenCV commands and get errors.   • Visual Studio: What happened to the "Break when an exception is unhandled" option?

    Hi, As far as I remember, Visual Studio (both 2008 and 2010) used to have an option to break either on thrown exceptions or on unhandled exceptions. Now when I bring up the Exceptions dialog (Ctr+Alt+E), it just offers to break when an exception is thrown: http://screencast.com/t/NDk3NDYxZD I've tried resizing to the columns in that dialog, but that did not help. Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

  • Is it possible to store credentials for auotmatic Team Foundation Server login?

    Is it possible to store the credentials that I use to connect to my Team Foundation Server directly in Visual Studio 2010? I would like to avoid to insert them at every VS launch. The problem is that the machine that host TFS is not in the domain and I am conneting using the credentials of a user created on that machine. Suppose that the machine name is TOOLS and the user is Marco, I need to insert every time User name: TOOLS\Marco Password: * Can you suggest a possible fix, if exists?
