  • acts_as_revisable 'loses' previous models created before migration

    - by cbrulak
I have the following the standard, regular post sample app. I created some posts then decided to introduce acts_as_revisable After following the instructions at http://github.com/rich/acts_as_revisable I see that the previous posts are not appearing in the Post.all call. However, if I use the console and do Post.find_by_sql("SELECT * FROM Post WHERE ID=1") the post shows up. Any ideas? Thanks

  • iPhone Human Interface Guidelines question

    - by Kyle
iPhone Human Interface Guidelines -- Do they apply for OpenGL games? GL games typically have custom buttons, custom lists, etc. Take the Quake player list for example, if ported, it wouldnt be a typical UI list object. Does this mean the reviewer in question would reject anything that wasn't using standard UI? Or, is there an exception for games.

  • Any tools out there that will EXECUTE BPMN 2.0 xml code yet?

    - by processimprover
Business Process Modeling Notation with version 2.0, an international standard formally approved by OMG, creates XML code that is generated when a person creates a process model in a process modeling tool...like Visio with ITP-Commerce BPM 2.0 add-in. I would like to know if any of you gurus out there have or can create a tool that will take the XML code and EXECUTE it. Anyone? Thanks very much, Randy

  • Nintendo DSi SDK : Getting Started

    - by Hugoware
Does anyone have a good starting point for learning about development for the new Nintendo DSi? What kind of hardware do you need to develop and test something like this? Can you develop for the DSi using the standard DS? What language do you need to use? [Bonus Question] : I also heard the new DSi is going to get an App Store similar to Apple - Are developers going to be able to sell games using this?

  • What do you call using print statements to debug code?

    - by vgm64
I'm just curious, but is there a name for the process using print statements to debug your code? An example in pseudocode x=3.2e39 print x y = function1(x) print y z = function2(y) print z w = function3(z) print w Executation: 3.2e39 3.2e36 NaN NaN reveals some bad math in function2. If there's no standard name, what do you call it?

  • When are response headers created in ASP.NET web forms?

    - by Jones
I read somewhere the you can't remove response headers once they've been added. Given that, I'm wondering where in a standard ASP.NET web forms application do response headers get added initially. For example, these: Date Fri, 23 Apr 2010 16:25:56 GMT Server Microsoft-IIS/6.0 X-Powered-By ASP.NET Cache-Control private And can I stop it from happening? Do subsequent headers override old headers? Does my question even make sense? Thanks.

  • C# function normal return value VS out or ref argument

    - by misha-r
Hi People, I've got a method in c# that needs to return a very large array (or any other large data structure for that matter). Is there a performance gain in using a ref or out parameter instead of the standard return value? I.e. is there any performance or other gain in using void function(sometype input, ref largearray) over largearray function(sometype input) ? Thanks in advance!

  • What would be the good name for this operation?

    - by Rogach
I see that Scala standard library misses the method to get ranges of objects in the collection, that satisfy the predicate: def <???>(p: A => Boolean): List[List[A]] = { val buf = collection.mutable.ListBuffer[List[A]]() var elems = this.dropWhile(e => !p(e)) while (elems.nonEmpty) { buf += elems.takeWhile(p) elems = elems.dropWhile(e => !p(e)) } buf.toList } What would be the good name for such method? And is my implementation good enough?

  • How does the elliptic-curve version of Diffie-Hellman cryptography work?

    - by cmaduro
    Does the Elliptic curve diffie hellman calculation look any different from the standard one defined here: /* * The basic Diffie-Hellman Key Agreement Equation * * The client initiates * A = g^a mod p * * Sends (g p A) to the server * * The server calculates B * B = g^b mod p * * Sends B back to client * * The client calculates K * K = B^a mod p * * The server calucaltes K * K = A^b mod p * */ Or is it just a specific way of selecting g, a, p and b? How are g,a,p and b selected anyway?

  • WCF v.s. legacy ASP.Net Web Services

    - by George2
Duplicate: although this is a good discussion, this is a duplicate of Web Services — WCF vs. Standard. Please consider adding any new information to the earlier question and closing this one. Could anyone recommend me some documents to describe why WCF is better than legacy ASP.Net web services? I am especially interested in performance and security. Thanks!

  • Are Maybes a good pattern for scala?

    - by Fred Haslam
For a while I have been struggling to integrate scala with java methods that might return null. I came up with the following utility which helps a lot: // produce an Option, nulls become None object Maybe { def apply[T](t:T) = if (t==null) None else Some(t) } Maybe(javaClass.getResultCouldBeNull()).map( result => doSomeWork(result) ) I have a few questions about this solution: Is there a better or more standard pattern to use? Am I duplicating something that already exists? Does this functionality have hidden gotchas?

  • What are the reasons to select Object Oriented Programming over Procedural Programming?

    - by Starx
Nowadays, Standard Coding has become Synonymous to Object Oriented Programming. But what are the reasons that forced classical procedural programming out of the way and rose the new concept of Object Oriented Programming. What were the limitations that Procedural Programming could not accomplish? and Does procedural language still hold some value in the field of programming? If yes, What are they, and What are there advantages over OOP?

  • #ifdef with gfortran 77

    - by ccook
I am using gfortran to compile FORTRAN 77 and would like to have DEBUG build options by using the preprocessor directive #ifdef. However, when I use them I get compile time warnings "Illegal preprocessor directive". Is it possible to have this functionality without deviating from the standard toolchain?

  • how to put a drop down list in a flex advanced data grid

    - by Setori
How can one put components into an advanced data grid? I wish to have a standard row with string items, in this row there is a date selector I want to put in, and in another cell of the row I want to put a drop down list box containing text "40" and "20" or you can manually edit the cell so that it displays what ever input you decide (other than 40 and 20) thanks so much
