• What's happened to my directory on GitHub?

  I added a new subdir within my git respository: git add feeds Then commited this and pushed it up to GitHub but it seems as though I've commited a symlink / shortcut but not the actual directory and files within. See here: http://github.com/G4EGK/RSS-Reader Any idea what 'feeds' is? I'd like to remove that and correctly add my files. I tried the following but git status said nothing had changed: git rm feeds git add feeds/\*.php To remove feeds do I run the following? git filter-branch --tree-filter 'rm -f feeds' HEAD

  Pretty much everyone that writes about the UISplitView on the iPad uses the following code structure to dismiss a popover: if (popoverController != nil) { [popoverController dismissPopoverAnimated:YES]; } I though Objective-C was happy to ignore messages that are passed to nil? • Passing arguments to java vm from NSIS script

  I'm developing my first java application using Eclipse. I've recently needed to adjust the amount of memory allocated by passing -Xmx256M to the JVM. The application is currently package up as a runnable jar and installed using the NSIS. I'm having a problem passing arguments to the jar file once its installed. What is the common practice for doing this? Here is what I'm currently doing in my nsi file: CreateShortcut "$SMPROGRAMS\$StartMenuGroup\$(^Name).lnk" "$SYSDIR\javaw.exe" "-jar -Xmx256M $INSTDIR\Foo.jar" This results in the following being created as the shortcut Target on windows: C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -jar -Xmx256M C:\Program Files\Foo\Foo.jar Unfortunately this does not work due to the space in C:\Program Files, If I change the link created manually to include quotes all is well: C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -jar -Xmx256M "C:\Program Files\Foo\Foo.jar"

• Delphi - How can I prevent the main form capturing keystrokes in a TMemo on another non-modal form?

  I have an app that opens a non-modal form from the main form. The non-modal form has a TMemo on it. The main form menu uses "space" as one of its accelerator characters. When the non-modal form is open and the memo has focus, every time I try to enter a space into the memo on the non-modal form, the main form event for the "space" shortcut fires! I have tried turning MainForm.KeyPreview := false while the other form is open but no dice. Any ideas? TIA

  Hello. I have followed this example http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Aa446504 and it works fine. The cab is created and i can copy it on the device and install the app. What im missing is that on device the application is not present in Programs folder. All i can do is browse to its location in /program files and run it manualy. Can some1 tell me how to: install CAB so it makes a shortcut in programs on device run the application automaticly after it has been installed thanx !

• Good workflow with emacs+swank+slime+clojure?

  I just wanted opinion on good workflow using the emacs environment with clojure+swank+slime. I often find myself doing very repetitive keycommands and wonder if there is an obvious better way. I include swank with lein and start my project using lein swank from shell. Then I connect with emacs and do the correct use commands so that I can start to use (run-tests ). Then I do some coding and then want to test. To run the test I need to change buffer in emacs to the swank-repl C-x o, then I need to go to the prompt M-, then repeat the command M-p, then enter, maybe with an exception, then back to the code buffer and continue all over again with all the emacs commands. I find it a bit repetitive. I guess the solution would be to start hack on emacs and maybe add a shortcut for doing this repetitive task, but I would love to hear some suggestions because I can't be the only one who find this tedious?

• While Loop Taking Alot of CPU Usage

  I am creating a keystroke logger for my personal interest, as well wanting to know how to capture and use them as functions (like key shortcuts). I got the code to learn how keylogger and GetAsyncKeyState() work: http://www.rohitab.com/discuss/index.php?showtopic=9931 I got it to run under Code::Blocks, but the weirdest things is that when I check my task manager, my CPU Usage rises to 100%. When I close the program, it goes back down, and goes back up to 100 when I turn it back on. I presume it's because of the infinite while loop, constantly checking for inputs, but I wanna know if there's anyway to decrease the CPU usage, without losing function. P.S How would I make a key shortcut? Like press (Ctrl + E) to make the program exit?

  I'm giving ErgoEmacs mode a try to see if I can use Emacs more comfortably. Some of its keybindings are fairly intuitive, but in many cases I don't want to outright replace the defaults. For example, in the context of ErgoEmacs' navigation shortcut structure, M-h makes sense as a replacement for C-a--but I want to be able to use both, not just M-h. • Maven project is in a subfolder, can't get Eclipse integration to work

  Inside the folder 'ProjectName' exists several subfolders, and of them contains java program: ProjectName Specifications JavaCode Gfx ... JavaCode folder contains pom.xml. I have installed m2eclipse (0.10.x) to Eclipse and imported whole ProjectName folder to Eclipse. Subfolders are displayed correctly but maven integration is not working correctly - for example I don't see src/main/java "shortcut" folder in Eclipse, but I have to click to open all folders. If I create a new maven project with Eclipse from scratch, the integration works well. What could be the issue?

  I create this object when I want to create a QAction. QtCore.QObject.connect() returns True. Nothing is printed on the console to indicate that anything is wrong, and no exception is thrown. How can I debug this? (or, what am I doing wrong?)

• Is there a quick way to build & install to iPhone (from XCode) without starting the app?

  In XCode, I can use CMD-R to run (or CMD-Y to debug), and my app will compile, install on the phone & start-up. (I've already prepped my phone & XCode so this part works as expected.) What I'd LIKE to do is type CMD-<something else> and have my program compile & install on the phone, but NOT start-up. I realize that I can just CMD-B to build, then go through some rigamarole to deploy, but I'm hoping one of you smart-folk can tell me the lazy-man's shortcut for all of this. Thanks!

In addition to this, I use a little utility called Witch which enables cycling (graphically) over windows too(I've defined it on ??). Unfortunately, it does not currently support tabs cycling... Where certain Javascript operations could be accomplished easier, without bringing jQuery into the mix. Or is this a rare case? (of a jQuery "shortcut" actually requiring more code) EDIT : While I appreciate the answers regarding jQuery vs. plain javascript performance, I am actually looking for much more quantitative answers. While using jQuery, instances where one would actually be better off (readability/compactness) to use plain javascript instead of using $().   Just started using Visual Studio 2010, moved over from Netbeans. I kinda liked the Netbeans upload on save functionality, which was useful in development environments when one is constantly making small changes and testing them. As soon as you saved a file, it would be synced to the FTP server. Is it possible to do this in VS? I'm pretty sure there is a way, using a macro of some sort, and having it run on every save? However I have no idea how to implement it... Maybe even a keyboard shortcut to deploy the current working file would be nice.

  Suppose a program is running with elevated privileges already, and it needs to see the contents of the System Volume Information folder, and by default, only NT Authority\System can do that. A workaround would be to change ACL's on the folder, but I don't want to mess with that. I already found two ways to do it: the task scheduler and psexec. They are too indirect, I don't even need to describe the first one, and the second one works by installing a windows service, running it, telling it to run whatever I wanted to run, then uninstalling the service. Now the question is: is there a direct, simple WinAPI function to run something as system? I don't think that such an API would circumvent the security restrictions, as an administrator I have the right to schedule a task or install a service, so there must be a shortcut.

Opera's password management has two unique characteristics which I rely on heavily: It saves passwords on all pages, (apparently) despite the page's meta data asking not to save passwords. It offers keyboard shortcut and button to automatically fill in username/passwords and all other fields in a login form, then automatically submit the form.   Hi I followed the commonly-linked tip for reducing an application to the system tray : http://www.developer.com/net/csharp/article.php/3336751 Now it works, but there is still a problem : my application is shown when it starts ; I want it to start directly in the systray. I tried to minimize and hide it in the Load event, but it does nothing. Edit : I could, as a poster suggested, modify the shortcut properties, but I'd rather use code : I don't have complete control over every computer the soft is installed on. I don't want to remove it completely from everywhere except the systray, I just want it to start minimized. Any ideas ? Thanks

  Visual Studio has a concept of commands, i.e. actions executable by pressing a shortcut, entering them on the Command Window etc. Visual Studio itself documents its commands (at least some of them) but I was wondering if there is a unified way to get information about any command, e.g. coming from ReSharper, TestDriven.NET etc. What I'd like to see for every command: Textual description of the command List of parameters and their types/allowed values I've never developed a VS addon / extension so am not sure if this question even makes sense but from the user perspective, some documentation would be greatly appreciated. BTW, is the Command Window the best place to get at least an overview of all the commands available? ToolsOptionsKeyboard is another place where I can see shortcuts also but the UI is not very convenient...

  I have an existing Scala application and it uses case classes which are then persisted in MongoDB. I need to introduce a new field to a case class but the value of it is derived from existing field. For example, there is phone number and I want to add normalised phone number while keeping the original phone number. I'll update the existing records in MongoDB but I would need to add this normalisation feature to existing save and update code. So, is there any nice shortcut in Scala to add a "hook" to a certain field of a case class? For example, in Java one could modify setter of the phone number.

  How can I switch to the document to the left or right of the current document in Notepad++? For example, if I have documents A, B, and C open, and I'm currently editing B, I would like a shortcut to be able to switch to A (Alt-LeftArrow or Ctrl-Pageup) or C (Alt-RightArrow or Ctrl-PageDown). Is this possible? All I've found is a way to switch to next or previous documents based on the "history" of when the document was last opened (Ctrl-Tab and Ctrl-Shift-Tab), which are useful, but not what I want.

But after that the menuitem keeps selected and other windows never get input focus again. I have to click on the menuitem twice to get everything back normal.
