• Vim: auto-comment in new line

    - by padde
    Vim automatically inserts a comment when I start a new line from a commented out line, because I have set formatoptions=tcroql. For example (cursor is *): // this is a comment* and after hitting <Enter> (insert mode) or o (normal mode) i am left with: // this is a comment // * This feature is very handy when writing long multi-line comments, but often I just want a single line comment. Now if I want to end the comment series I have several options: hit <Esc>S hit <BS> three times Both of these afford three keystrokes, taken together with the <Enter> this means four keystrokes for a new line, which I think is too much. Ideally, I would like to just hit <Enter> a second time to be left with: // this is a comment * It is important that the solution will also work with different indentation levels, i.e. int main(void) { // this is a comment* } hit <Enter> int main(void) { // this is a comment // * } hit <Enter> int main(void) { // this is a comment * } I think I have seen this feature in some text editor a few years ago but I do not recall which one it was. Is anyone aware of a solution that will do this for me in Vim? Pointers in the right direction on how to roll my own solution are also very welcome.

  • Is there a potential for resource leak/double free here?

    - by nhed
    The following sample (not compiled so I won't vouch for syntax) pulls two resources from resource pools (not allocated with new), then "binds" them together with MyClass for the duration of a certain transaction. The transaction, implemented here by myFunc, attempts to protect against leakage of these resources by tracking their "ownership". The local resource pointers are cleared when its obvious that instantiation of MyClass was successful. The local catch, as well as the destructor ~MyClass return the resources to their pool (double-frees are protected by teh above mentioned clearing of the local pointers). Instantiation of MyClass can fail and result in an exception at two steps (1) actual memory allocation, or (2) at the constructor body itself. I do not have a problem with #1, but in the case of #2, if the exception is thrown AFTER m_resA & m_resB were set. Causing both the ~MyClass and the cleanup code of myFunc to assume responsibility for returning these resources to their pools. Is this a reasonable concern? Options I have considered, but didn't like: Smart pointers (like boost's shared_ptr). I didn't see how to apply to a resource pool (aside for wrapping in yet another instance). Allowing double-free to occur at this level but protecting at the resource pools. Trying to use the exception type - trying to deduce that if bad_alloc was caught that MyClass did not take ownership. This will require a try-catch in the constructor to make sure that any allocation failures in ABC() ...more code here... wont be confused with failures to allocate MyClass. Is there a clean, simple solution that I have overlooked? class SomeExtResourceA; class SomeExtResourceB; class MyClass { private: // These resources come out of a resource pool not allocated with "new" for each use by MyClass SomeResourceA* m_resA; SomeResourceB* m_resB; public: MyClass(SomeResourceA* resA, SomeResourceB* resB): m_resA(resA), m_resB(resB) { ABC(); // ... more code here, could throw exceptions } ~MyClass(){ if(m_resA){ m_resA->Release(); } if(m_resB){ m_resB->Release(); } } }; void myFunc(void) { SomeResourceA* resA = NULL; SomeResourceB* resB = NULL; MyClass* pMyInst = NULL; try { resA = g_pPoolA->Allocate(); resB = g_pPoolB->Allocate(); pMyInst = new MyClass(resA,resB); resA=NULL; // ''ownership succesfully transfered to pMyInst resB=NULL; // ''ownership succesfully transfered to pMyInst // Do some work with pMyInst; ...; delete pMyInst; } catch (...) { // cleanup // need to check if resA, or resB were allocated prior // to construction of pMyInst. if(resA) resA->Release(); if(resB) resB->Release(); delete pMyInst; throw; // rethrow caught exception } }

  • Android - How do I load a contact Photo?

    - by PaulH
    I'm having trouble loading a photo for a contact in Android. I've googled for an answer, but so far have come up empty. Does anyone have an example of querying for a Contact, then loading the Photo? So, given a contactUri which comes from an Activity result called using startActivityForResult(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK,ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.CONTENT_URI),PICK_CONTACT_REQUEST) is: content://com.android.contacts/data/1557 The loadContact(..) works fine. However when I call the getPhoto(...) method, I get a null value for the photo InputStream. It is also confusing because the URI values are different. The contactPhotoUri evaluates to: content://com.android.contacts/contacts/1557 See the comments inline in the code below. class ContactAccessor { /** * Retrieves the contact information. */ public ContactInfo loadContact(ContentResolver contentResolver, Uri contactUri) { //contactUri --> content://com.android.contacts/data/1557 ContactInfo contactInfo = new ContactInfo(); // Load the display name for the specified person Cursor cursor = contentResolver.query(contactUri, new String[]{Contacts._ID, Contacts.DISPLAY_NAME, Phone.NUMBER, Contacts.PHOTO_ID}, null, null, null); try { if (cursor.moveToFirst()) { contactInfo.setId(cursor.getLong(0)); contactInfo.setDisplayName(cursor.getString(1)); contactInfo.setPhoneNumber(cursor.getString(2)); } } finally { cursor.close(); } return contactInfo; // <-- returns info for contact } public Bitmap getPhoto(ContentResolver contentResolver, Long contactId) { Uri contactPhotoUri = ContentUris.withAppendedId(Contacts.CONTENT_URI, contactId); // contactPhotoUri --> content://com.android.contacts/contacts/1557 InputStream photoDataStream = Contacts.openContactPhotoInputStream(contentResolver,contactPhotoUri); // <-- always null Bitmap photo = BitmapFactory.decodeStream(photoDataStream); return photo; } public class ContactInfo { private long id; private String displayName; private String phoneNumber; private Uri photoUri; public void setDisplayName(String displayName) { this.displayName = displayName; } public String getDisplayName() { return displayName; } public void setPhoneNumber(String phoneNumber) { this.phoneNumber = phoneNumber; } public String getPhoneNumber() { return phoneNumber; } public Uri getPhotoUri() { return this.photoUri; } public void setPhotoUri(Uri photoUri) { this.photoUri = photoUri; } public long getId() { return this.id; } public void setId(long id) { this.id = id; } } } Clearly, I'm doing something wrong here, but I can't seem to figure out what the problem is. Thanks.

  • Make @JsonTypeInfo property optional

    - by Mark Peters
    I'm using @JsonTypeInfo to instruct Jackson to look in the @class property for concrete type information. However, sometimes I don't want to have to specify @class, particularly when the subtype can be inferred given the context. What's the best way to do that? Here's an example of the JSON: { "owner": {"name":"Dave"}, "residents":[ {"@class":"jacksonquestion.Dog","breed":"Greyhound"}, {"@class":"jacksonquestion.Human","name":"Cheryl"}, {"@class":"jacksonquestion.Human","name":"Timothy"} ] } and I'm trying to deserialize them into these classes (all in jacksonquestion.*): public class Household { private Human owner; private List<Animal> residents; public Human getOwner() { return owner; } public void setOwner(Human owner) { this.owner = owner; } public List<Animal> getResidents() { return residents; } public void setResidents(List<Animal> residents) { this.residents = residents; } } public class Animal {} public class Dog extends Animal { private String breed; public String getBreed() { return breed; } public void setBreed(String breed) { this.breed = breed; } } public class Human extends Animal { private String name; public String getName() { return name; } public void setName(String name) { this.name = name; } } using this config: @JsonTypeInfo(use = JsonTypeInfo.Id.CLASS, include = JsonTypeInfo.As.PROPERTY, property = "@class") private static class AnimalMixin { } //... ObjectMapper objectMapper = new ObjectMapper(); objectMapper.getDeserializationConfig().addMixInAnnotations(Animal.class, AnimalMixin.class); Household household = objectMapper.readValue(json, Household.class); System.out.println(household); As you can see, the owner is declared as a Human, not an Animal, so I want to be able to omit @class and have Jackson infer the type as it normally would. When I run this though, I get org.codehaus.jackson.map.JsonMappingException: Unexpected token (END_OBJECT), expected FIELD_NAME: missing property '@class' that is to contain type id (for class jacksonquestion.Human) Since "owner" doesn't specify @class. Any ideas? One initial thought I had was to use @JsonTypeInfo on the property rather than the type. However, this cannot be leveraged to annotate the element type of a list.

  • Combining MVVM Light Toolkit and Unity 2.0

    - by Alan Cordner
    This is more of a commentary than a question, though feedback would be nice. I have been tasked to create the user interface for a new project we are doing. We want to use WPF and I wanted to learn all of the modern UI design techniques available. Since I am fairly new to WPF I have been researching what is available. I think I have pretty much settled on using MVVM Light Toolkit (mainly because of its "Blendability" and the EventToCommand behavior!), but I wanted to incorporate IoC also. So, here is what I have come up with. I have modified the default ViewModelLocator class in a MVVM Light project to use a UnityContainer to handle dependency injections. Considering I didn't know what 90% of these terms meant 3 months ago, I think I'm on the right track. // Example of MVVM Light Toolkit ViewModelLocator class that implements Microsoft // Unity 2.0 Inversion of Control container to resolve ViewModel dependencies. using Microsoft.Practices.Unity; namespace MVVMLightUnityExample { public class ViewModelLocator { public static UnityContainer Container { get; set; } #region Constructors static ViewModelLocator() { if (Container == null) { Container = new UnityContainer(); // register all dependencies required by view models Container .RegisterType<IDialogService, ModalDialogService>(new ContainerControlledLifetimeManager()) .RegisterType<ILoggerService, LogFileService>(new ContainerControlledLifetimeManager()) ; } } ///
/// Initializes a new instance of the ViewModelLocator class. ///
public ViewModelLocator() { ////if (ViewModelBase.IsInDesignModeStatic) ////{ //// // Create design time view models ////} ////else ////{ //// // Create run time view models ////} CreateMain(); } #endregion #region MainViewModel private static MainViewModel _main; ///
/// Gets the Main property. ///
public static MainViewModel MainStatic { get { if (_main == null) { CreateMain(); } return _main; } } ///
/// Gets the Main property. ///
[System.Diagnostics.CodeAnalysis.SuppressMessage("Microsoft.Performance", "CA1822:MarkMembersAsStatic", Justification = "This non-static member is needed for data binding purposes.")] public MainViewModel Main { get { return MainStatic; } } ///
/// Provides a deterministic way to delete the Main property. ///
public static void ClearMain() { _main.Cleanup(); _main = null; } ///
/// Provides a deterministic way to create the Main property. ///
public static void CreateMain() { if (_main == null) { // allow Unity to resolve the view model and hold onto reference _main = Container.Resolve<MainViewModel>(); } } #endregion #region OrderViewModel // property to hold the order number (injected into OrderViewModel() constructor when resolved) public static string OrderToView { get; set; } ///
/// Gets the OrderViewModel property. ///
public static OrderViewModel OrderViewModelStatic { get { // allow Unity to resolve the view model // do not keep local reference to the instance resolved because we need a new instance // each time - the corresponding View is a UserControl that can be used multiple times // within a single window/view // pass current value of OrderToView parameter to constructor! return Container.Resolve<OrderViewModel>(new ParameterOverride("orderNumber", OrderToView)); } } ///
/// Gets the OrderViewModel property. ///
[System.Diagnostics.CodeAnalysis.SuppressMessage("Microsoft.Performance", "CA1822:MarkMembersAsStatic", Justification = "This non-static member is needed for data binding purposes.")] public OrderViewModel Order { get { return OrderViewModelStatic; } } #endregion ///
/// Cleans up all the resources. ///
public static void Cleanup() { ClearMain(); Container = null; } } } And the MainViewModel class showing dependency injection usage: using GalaSoft.MvvmLight; using Microsoft.Practices.Unity; namespace MVVMLightUnityExample { public class MainViewModel : ViewModelBase { private IDialogService _dialogs; private ILoggerService _logger; ///
/// Initializes a new instance of the MainViewModel class. This default constructor calls the /// non-default constructor resolving the interfaces used by this view model. ///
public MainViewModel() : this(ViewModelLocator.Container.Resolve<IDialogService>(), ViewModelLocator.Container.Resolve<ILoggerService>()) { if (IsInDesignMode) { // Code runs in Blend --> create design time data. } else { // Code runs "for real" } } ///
/// Initializes a new instance of the MainViewModel class. /// Interfaces are automatically resolved by the IoC container. ///
/// Interface to dialog service /// Interface to logger service public MainViewModel(IDialogService dialogs, ILoggerService logger) { _dialogs = dialogs; _logger = logger; if (IsInDesignMode) { // Code runs in Blend --> create design time data. _dialogs.ShowMessage("Running in design-time mode!", "Injection Constructor", DialogButton.OK, DialogImage.Information); _logger.WriteLine("Running in design-time mode!"); } else { // Code runs "for real" _dialogs.ShowMessage("Running in run-time mode!", "Injection Constructor", DialogButton.OK, DialogImage.Information); _logger.WriteLine("Running in run-time mode!"); } } public override void Cleanup() { // Clean up if needed _dialogs = null; _logger = null; base.Cleanup(); } } } And the OrderViewModel class: using GalaSoft.MvvmLight; using Microsoft.Practices.Unity; namespace MVVMLightUnityExample { ///
/// This class contains properties that a View can data bind to. /// <para> /// Use the mvvminpc snippet to add bindable properties to this ViewModel. /// </para> /// <para> /// You can also use Blend to data bind with the tool's support. /// </para> /// <para> /// See http://www.galasoft.ch/mvvm/getstarted /// </para> ///
public class OrderViewModel : ViewModelBase { private const string testOrderNumber = "123456"; private Order _order; ///
/// Initializes a new instance of the OrderViewModel class. ///
public OrderViewModel() : this(testOrderNumber) { } ///
/// Initializes a new instance of the OrderViewModel class. ///
public OrderViewModel(string orderNumber) { if (IsInDesignMode) { // Code runs in Blend --> create design time data. _order = new Order(orderNumber, "My Company", "Our Address"); } else { _order = GetOrder(orderNumber); } } public override void Cleanup() { // Clean own resources if needed _order = null; base.Cleanup(); } } } And the code that could be used to display an order view for a specific order: public void ShowOrder(string orderNumber) { // pass the order number to show to ViewModelLocator to be injected //into the constructor of the OrderViewModel instance ViewModelLocator.OrderToShow = orderNumber; View.OrderView orderView = new View.OrderView(); } These examples have been stripped down to show only the IoC ideas. It took a lot of trial and error, searching the internet for examples, and finding out that the Unity 2.0 documentation is lacking (at best) to come up with this solution. Let me know if you think it could be improved.

  • Silverlight child windows in MVVM pattern

    - by rrejc
    Hello, I am trying to find the right way to get the data from a ChildWindow/popup using a MVVM pattern in Silverlight (3). For example: I have a main page with a data entry form and I want to open a popup with a list of customers. When user selects a customer I want to transfer selected customer into the main page. This is what the (example) code which I am using at the moment: Main page public partial class MainPage : UserControl { public MainPageViewModel ViewModel { get; private set; } public MainPage() { InitializeComponent(); ViewModel = new MainPageViewModel(); DataContext = ViewModel; } private void SearchCustomer_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { ViewModel.SearchCustomer(); } } public class MainPageViewModel: ViewModel { private string customer; public string Customer { get { return customer; } set { customer = value; RaisePropertyChanged("Customer"); } } public void SearchCustomer() { // Called from a view SearchWindow searchWindow = new SearchWindow(); searchWindow.Closed += (sender, e) => { if ((bool)searchWindow.DialogResult) { Customer = searchWindow.ViewModel.SelectedCustomer.ToString(); } }; searchWindow.Show(); } } Child window public partial class SearchWindow : ChildWindow { public SearchWindowViewModel ViewModel { get; private set; } public SearchWindow() { InitializeComponent(); ViewModel = new SearchWindowViewModel(); DataContext = ViewModel; } private void OKButton_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { DialogResult = ViewModel.OkButtonClick(); } private void CancelButton_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { DialogResult = ViewModel.CancelButtonClick(); } } public class SearchWindowViewModel: ViewModel { private Customer selectedCustomer; private ObservableCollection<Customer> customers; public ObservableCollection<Customer> Customers { get { return customers; } set {customers = value; RaisePropertyChanged("Customers"); } } public Customer SelectedCustomer { get { return selectedCustomer; } set { selectedCustomer = value; RaisePropertyChanged("SelectedCustomer"); } } public SearchWindowViewModel() { Customers = new ObservableCollection<Customer>(); ISearchService searchService = new FakeSearchService(); foreach (Customer customer in searchService.FindCustomers("dummy")) Customers.Add(customer); } public bool? OkButtonClick() { if (SelectedCustomer != null) return true; else return null; // show some error message before that } public bool? CancelButtonClick() { return false; } } Is this the right way or is there anything more "simple"? Cheers, Rok

  • half or quarter black screen in android

    - by Mike McKeown
    I have an android activity that when I launch sometimes (about 1 in 4 times) it only draws quarter or half the screen before showing it. When I change the orientation or press a button the screen draws properly. I'm just using TextViews, Buttons, Fonts - no drawing or anything like that. All of my code for initialising is in the onCreate(). In this method I'm loading a text file, of about 40 lines long, and also getting a shared preference. Could this cause a delay so that it can't draw the intent? Thanks in advance if anyone has seen anything similar. EDIT - I tried commenting out the loading of the word list, but it didn't fix the problem. Here is the activity <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/mainRelativeLayout" • Quartz scheduler is failing to start the cron job

    Hi I am using Quartz scheduler to trigger a cron which needs to perform a host of activities. My Code for the same is as follow: In the init() method of my InitServlet class, I am defining my TimerServer public class InitServlet extends HttpServlet { public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException { try { System.out.println("Starting the CRON"); //Set the DSO Handler CRON TimerServer task = TimerServer.getInstance(); task.setTask(); } catch (Exception ex) { System.out.println("Failed to start the cron"); ex.printStackTrace(); } } In my TimerServer class I have the following methods public void setTask() { try{ this.setSubscriptionDailyJob(); } catch(SchedulerException ex) { log.error("SchedulerException: "+ex.getMessage(), ex); } private void setSubscriptionDailyJob() throws SchedulerException { log.info("Step 1 "); Scheduler scheduler = schedulerFactory.getScheduler(); log.info("Step 2 "); JobDetail subscriptionJob = new JobDetail("subscription", "subscriptiongroup", SubscriptionDaily.class); log.info("Step 3 "); // Initiate CronTrigger with its name and group name CronTrigger subscriptionCronTrigger = new CronTrigger("subscriptionCronTrigger", "subscriptionTriggerGroup"); try { log.info("Subscription cron: "+Constants.SUBSCRIPTION_CRON); // setup CronExpression CronExpression cexp = new CronExpression(Constants.SUBSCRIPTION_CRON); // Assign the CronExpression to CronTrigger subscriptionCronTrigger.setCronExpression(cexp); } catch (Exception ex) { log.warn("Exception: "+ex.getMessage(), ex); } scheduler.scheduleJob(subscriptionJob, subscriptionCronTrigger); scheduler.start(); } In my SubscriptionDaily class : public class SubscriptionDaily implements Job { public void execute(JobExecutionContext arg0) throws JobExecutionException { //Actions to be performed } } Now checking my logs, I am getting Step 1, Step 2 but not further. • DataForm commit button is not enabled when data changed.

    - by Grayson Mitchell
    This is a weird problem. I am using a dataform, and when I edit the data the save button is enabled, but the cancel button is not. After looking around a bit I have found that I have to implement the IEditableObject in order to cancel an edit. Great I did that (and it all works), but now the commit button (Save) is grayed out, lol. Anyone have any idea's why the commit button will not activate any more? It works fine when debugging (and even when debugging in the release configuration), but throws an error archived as a release: Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGSYS) Exception Codes: 0x00000000, 0x00000000 Crashed Thread: 0 Thread 0 name: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread Thread 0 Crashed: 0 TestApp 0x000d04fc 0x91000 + 259324 1 UIKit 0x336d777e +[UIView(UIViewAnimationWithBlocks) animateWithDuration:animations:] + 42 2 TestApp 0x000d04de 0x91000 + 259294 3 TestApp 0x000d0678 0x91000 + 259704 4 Foundation 0x355f04f8 __57-[NSNotificationCenter addObserver:selector:name:object:]_block_invoke_0 + 12 5 CoreFoundation 0x35aae540 ___CFXNotificationPost_block_invoke_0 + 64 6 CoreFoundation 0x35a3a090 _CFXNotificationPost + 1400 7 Foundation 0x355643e4 -[NSNotificationCenter postNotificationName:object:userInfo:] + 60 8 UIKit 0x33599112 -[UIInputViewTransition postNotificationsForTransitionStart] + 846 9 UIKit 0x335988cc -[UIPeripheralHost(UIKitInternal) executeTransition:] + 880 10 UIKit 0x3351bb8c -[UIPeripheralHost(UIKitInternal) setInputViews:animationStyle:] + 304 11 UIKit 0x3351b260 -[UIPeripheralHost(UIKitInternal) _reloadInputViewsForResponder:] + 952 12 UIKit 0x3351ae54 -[UIResponder(UIResponderInputViewAdditions) reloadInputViews] + 160 13 UIKit 0x3351a990 -[UIResponder becomeFirstResponder] + 452 14 UIKit 0x336194a0 -[UITextInteractionAssistant setFirstResponderIfNecessary] + 168 15 UIKit 0x33618d6a -[UITextInteractionAssistant oneFingerTap:] + 1602 16 UIKit 0x33618630 _UIGestureRecognizerSendActions + 100 17 UIKit 0x335a8d5e -[UIGestureRecognizer _updateGestureWithEvent:] + 298 18 UIKit 0x337d9472 ___UIGestureRecognizerUpdate_block_invoke_0541 + 42 19 UIKit 0x33524f4e _UIGestureRecognizerApplyBlocksToArray + 170 20 UIKit 0x33523a9c _UIGestureRecognizerUpdate + 892 21 UIKit 0x335307e2 _UIGestureRecognizerUpdateGesturesFromSendEvent + 22 22 UIKit 0x33530620 -[UIWindow _sendGesturesForEvent:] + 768 23 UIKit 0x335301ee -[UIWindow sendEvent:] + 82 24 UIKit 0x3351668e -[UIApplication sendEvent:] + 350 25 UIKit 0x33515f34 _UIApplicationHandleEvent + 5820 26 GraphicsServices 0x376d5224 PurpleEventCallback + 876 27 CoreFoundation 0x35ab651c __CFRUNLOOP_IS_CALLING_OUT_TO_A_SOURCE1_PERFORM_FUNCTION__ + 32 28 CoreFoundation 0x35ab64be __CFRunLoopDoSource1 + 134 29 CoreFoundation 0x35ab530c __CFRunLoopRun + 1364 30 CoreFoundation 0x35a3849e CFRunLoopRunSpecific + 294 31 CoreFoundation 0x35a38366 CFRunLoopRunInMode + 98 32 GraphicsServices 0x376d4432 GSEventRunModal + 130 33 UIKit 0x33544cce UIApplicationMain + 1074 Thread 0 crashed with ARM Thread State: r0: 0x0000004e r1: 0x000d04f8 r2: 0x338fed47 r3: 0x3f523340 r4: 0x00000000 r5: 0x2fe8da00 r6: 0x00000001 r7: 0x2fe8d9d0 r8: 0x3f54cad0 r9: 0x00000000 r10: 0x3fd00000 r11: 0x3f523310 ip: 0x3f497048 sp: 0x2fe8d988 lr: 0x33539a41 pc: 0x000d04fc cpsr: 0x60000010 To give some background info: The static library is part of an 'iOS fake-framework', built using the templates from here: https://github.com/kstenerud/iOS-Universal-Framework The framework presents a registration UI as a modal view on top of whatever the client application is doing at the time. It pushes these views using a handle to a UIViewController provided by the client application. It doesn't do anything special, but here's the animation code: -(void)keyboardWillShowNotification:(NSNotification *)notification { double animationDuration = [[[notification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardAnimationDurationUserInfoKey] doubleValue]; dispatch_async(dispatch_get_main_queue(), ^(void) { [self animateViewsToState:kUMAnimationStateKeyboardVisible forIdiom:[UIDevice currentDevice].userInterfaceIdiom forDuration:animationDuration]; }); } -(void)animateViewsToState:(kUMAnimationState)state forIdiom:(UIUserInterfaceIdiom)idiom forDuration:(double)duration { float fieldOffset; if (idiom == UIUserInterfaceIdiomPhone) { if (state == kUMAnimationStateKeyboardVisible) { fieldOffset = -KEYBOARD_HEIGHT_IPHONE_PORTRAIT; } else { fieldOffset = KEYBOARD_HEIGHT_IPHONE_PORTRAIT; } } else { if (state == kUMAnimationStateKeyboardVisible) { fieldOffset = -IPAD_FIELD_OFFSET; } else { fieldOffset = IPAD_FIELD_OFFSET; } } [UIView animateWithDuration:duration animations:^(void) { mUserNameField.frame = CGRectOffset(mUserNameField.frame, 0, fieldOffset); mUserPasswordField.frame = CGRectOffset(mUserPasswordField.frame, 0, fieldOffset); }]; } Further printf-style debugging shows that it crashes whenever I do anything much with UIKit - specifically, it crashes when I replace -animateViewsToState with: if (0 == UIUserInterfaceIdiomPhone) { NSLog(@""); } and [[[[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"test" message:@"123" delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil] autorelease] show]; To me, this sounds like a linker problem, but I don't understand how such problems would only manifest here, and not beforehand. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Managing database connections in an Android Activity

    - by Daniel Lew
    I have an application with a ListActivity that uses a CursorAdapter as its adapter. The ListActivity opens the database and does the querying for the CursorAdapter, which is all well and good, but I am having issues with figuring out when to close both the Cursor and the SQLiteDatabase. The way things are handled right now, if the user finishes the activity, I close the database and the cursor. However, this still ends up with the DalvikVM warning me that I've left a database open - for example, if the user hits the "home" button (leaving the activity in the task's stack), rather than the "back" button. If I close them during pause and then re-query during resume, then I don't get any errors, but then a user cannot return to the list without it requerying (and thus losing the user's place in the list). By this I mean, the user can click on any item in the list and open a new activity based on it, but will often want to hit "back" afterwards and return to the same place on the list. If I requery, then I cannot return the user back to the correct spot. What is the proper way to handle this issue? I want the list to remain scrolled properly, but I don't want the VM to keep complaining about unclosed databases. Edit: Here's a general outline of how I handle the code at the moment: public class MyListActivity extends ListActivity { private Cursor mCursor; private CursorAdapter mAdapter; protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); mAdapter = new MyCursorAdapter(this); setListAdapter(mAdapter); } protected void onPause() { super.onPause(); if (isFinishing()) { mCursor.close(); } } protected void onDestroy() { super.onDestroy(); mCursor.close(); } private void updateQuery() { // If we had a cursor open before, close it. if (mCursor != null) { mCursor.close(); } MyDbHelper dbHelper = new MyDbHelper(this); SQLiteDatabase db = dbHelper.getReadableDatabase(); mCursor = db.query(...); mAdapter.changeCursor(mCursor); db.close(); } } updateQuery() can be called multiple times because the user can filter the results via menu items (I left this part out of the code, as the problem still occurs even if the user does no filtering). Again, the issue is that when I hit home I get leak errors. Yet, after going home, I can go back to the app and find my list again - cursor fully intact.

  • JLabel animation in JPanel

    - by Trizicus
    After scratching around I found that it's best to implement a custom image component by extending a JLabel. So far that has worked great as I can add multiple "images" (jlabels without the layout breaking. I just have a question that I hope someone can answer for me. I noticed that in order to animate JLabels across the screen I need to setlayout(null); and setbounds of the component and then to animate eventually setlocation(x,y);. Is this a best practice or a terrible way to animate a component? I plan on eventually making an animation class but I don't want to do so and end up having to chuck it. I have included relevant code for a quick review check. import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.Graphics; import java.awt.Graphics2D; import java.awt.event.ActionEvent; import java.awt.event.ActionListener; import javax.swing.JPanel; import javax.swing.Timer; public class GraphicsPanel extends JPanel { private Timer timer; private long startTime = 0; private int numFrames = 0; private float fps = 0.0f; private int x = 0; GraphicsPanel() { final Entity ent1 = new Entity(); ent1.setBounds(x, 0, ent1.getWidth(), ent1.getHeight()); add(ent1); //ESSENTIAL setLayout(null); //GAMELOOP timer = new Timer(30, new ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { getFPS(); incX(); ent1.setLocation(x, 0); repaint(); } }); timer.start(); } public void incX() { x++; } @Override public void paintComponent(Graphics g) { super.paintComponent(g); Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D) g.create(); g2.setClip(0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight()); g2.setColor(Color.BLACK); g2.drawString("FPS: " + fps, 1, 15); } public void getFPS() { ++numFrames; if (startTime == 0) { startTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); } else { long currentTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); long delta = (currentTime - startTime); if (delta > 1000) { fps = (numFrames * 1000) / delta; numFrames = 0; startTime = currentTime; } } } } Thank you!

  • Unwanted SDL_QUIT Event on mouseclick.

    - by Anthony Clever
    I'm having a slight problem with my SDL/Opengl code, specifically, when i try to do something on a mousebuttondown event, the program sends an sdl_quit event to the stack, closing my application. I know this because I can make the program work (sans the ability to quit out of it :| ) by checking for SDL_QUIT during my event loop, and making it do nothing, rather than quitting the application. If anyone could help make my program work, while retaining the ability to, well, close it, it'd be much appreciated. Code attached below: #include "SDL/SDL.h" #include "SDL/SDL_opengl.h" void draw_polygon(); void init(); int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { SDL_Event Event; int quit = 0; GLfloat color[] = { 0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f }; init(); glColor3fv (color); glOrtho(0.0, 1.0, 0.0, 1.0, -1.0, 1.0); draw_polygon(); while(!quit) { while(SDL_PollEvent( &Event )) { switch(Event.type) { case SDL_MOUSEBUTTONDOWN: for (int i = 0; i <= sizeof(color); i++) { color[i] += 0.1f; } glColor3fv ( color ); draw_polygon(); case SDL_KEYDOWN: switch(Event.key.keysym.sym) { case SDLK_ESCAPE: quit = 1; default: break; } default: break; } } } SDL_Quit(); return 0; } void draw_polygon() { glBegin(GL_POLYGON); glVertex3f (0.25, 0.25, 0.0); glVertex3f (0.75, 0.25, 0.0); glVertex3f (0.75, 0.75, 0.0); glVertex3f (0.25, 0.75, 0.0); glEnd(); SDL_GL_SwapBuffers(); } void init() { SDL_Init(SDL_INIT_EVERYTHING); SDL_SetVideoMode( 640, 480, 32, SDL_OPENGL ); glClearColor (0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0); glMatrixMode( GL_PROJECTION | GL_MODELVIEW ); glLoadIdentity(); glClear (GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT); SDL_WM_SetCaption( "OpenGL Test", NULL ); } If it matters in this case, I'm compiling via the included compiler with Visual C++ 2008 express.

  • EXC_BAD_ACCESS error on a UITableView with ARC?

    - by Arnaud Drizard
    I am building a simple app with a custom bar tab which loads the content of the ViewController from a UITableView located in another ViewController. However, every time I try to scroll on the tableview, I get an exc_bad_access error. I enabled NSzombies and guard malloc to get more info on the issue. In the console I get: "message sent to deallocated instance 0x19182f20" and after profiling I get: # Address Category Event Type RefCt Timestamp Size Responsible Library Responsible Caller 56 0x19182f20 FirstTabBarViewController Zombie -1 00:16.613.309 0 UIKit -[UIScrollView(UIScrollViewInternal) _scrollViewWillBeginDragging] Here is a bit of the code of the ViewController in which the error occurs: .h file: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "DataController.h" @interface FirstTabBarViewController : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate, UITableViewDataSource> { IBOutlet UITableView* tabBarTable; } @property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIView *mainView; @property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UITableView *tabBarTable; @property (nonatomic, strong) DataController *messageDataController; @end .m file: #import "FirstTabBarViewController.h" #import "DataController.h" @interface FirstTabBarViewController () @end @implementation FirstTabBarViewController @synthesize tabBarTable=_tabBarTable; - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil]; if (self) { // Custom initialization } return self; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Dispose of any resources that can be recreated. } - (void)awakeFromNib { [super awakeFromNib]; self.messageDataController=[[DataController alloc] init]; } - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 1; } - (NSInteger) tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section{ return [self.messageDataController countOfList]; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"mainCell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil){ cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; }; NSString *expenseAtIndex = [self.messageDataController objectInListAtIndex:indexPath.row]; [[cell textLabel] setText:expenseAtIndex]; return cell; } - (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView canEditRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Return NO if you do not want the specified item to be editable. return NO; } @end This FirstTabBarViewController is loaded in the MainViewController with the following custom segue: #import "customTabBarSegue.h" #import "MainViewController.h" @implementation customTabBarSegue -(void) perform { MainViewController *src= (MainViewController *) [self sourceViewController]; UIViewController *dst=(UIViewController *)[self destinationViewController]; for (UIView *view in src.placeholderView.subviews){ [view removeFromSuperview]; } src.currentViewController =dst; [src.placeholderView addSubview:dst.view]; } @end The Datacontroller class is just a simple NSMutableArray containing strings. I am using ARC so I don't understand where the memory management error comes from. Does anybody have a clue? Any help much appreciated ;) Thanks!!

  • Running a Java program with a .dll from Adobe AIR's native process

    - by Donny
    I would like to be able to operate a scanner from my AIR application. Since there's no support for this natively, I'm trying to use the NativeProcess class to start a jar file that can run the scanner. The Java code is using the JTwain library to operate the scanner. The Java application runs fine by itself, and the AIR application can start and communicate with the Java application. The problem seems to be that any time I attempt to use a function from JTwain (which relies on the JTwain.dll), the application dies IF AIR STARTED IT. I'm not sure if there's some limit about referencing dll files from the native process or what. I've included my code below Java code- while(true) { try { System.out.println("Start"); text = in.readLine(); Source source = SourceManager.instance().getCurrentSource(); System.out.println("Java says: "+ text); } catch (IOException e) { System.err.println("Exception while reading the input. " + e); } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println("Other exception occured: " + e.toString()); } finally { } } } Air application- import mx.events.FlexEvent; private var nativeProcess:NativeProcess; private var npInfo:NativeProcessStartupInfo; private var processBuffer:ByteArray; private var bLength:int = 0; protected function windowedapplication1_applicationCompleteHandler(event:FlexEvent):void { var arg:Vector.<String> = new Vector.<String>; arg.push("-jar"); arg.push(File.applicationDirectory.resolvePath("Hello2.jar").nativePath); processBuffer = new ByteArray; npInfo = new NativeProcessStartupInfo; npInfo.executable = new File("C:/Program Files/Java/jre6/bin/javaw.exe"); npInfo.arguments = arg; nativeProcess = new NativeProcess; nativeProcess.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.STANDARD_OUTPUT_DATA, onStandardOutputData); nativeProcess.start(npInfo); } private function onStandardOutputData(e:ProgressEvent):void { tArea.text += nativeProcess.standardOutput.readUTFBytes(nativeProcess.standardOutput.bytesAvailable); } protected function button1_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { tArea.text += 'AIR app: '+tInput.text + '\n'; nativeProcess.standardInput.writeMultiByte(tInput.text + "\n", 'utf-8'); tInput.text = ''; } protected function windowedapplication1_closeHandler(event:Event):void { nativeProcess.closeInput(); } </fx:Script> <s:Button label="Send" x="221" y="11" click="button1_clickHandler(event)"/> <s:TextInput id="tInput" x="10" y="10" width="203"/> <s:TextArea id="tArea" x="10" width="282" height="88" top="40"/> I would love some explanation about why this is dying. I've done enough testing that I know absolutely that the line that kills it is the SourceManager.instance().getCurrentSource(). I would love any suggestions. Thanks.

  • Sharing a UIView between UIViewControllers in a UITabBarController

    - by Wireless Designs
    Hi all - I have a UIScrollView that houses a gallery of images the user can scroll through. This view needs to be visible on each of three separate UIViewControllers that are housed within a UITabBarController. Right now, I have three separate UIScrollView instances in the UITabBarController subclass, and the controller manages keeping the three synchronized (when a user scrolls the one they can see, programmatically scrolling the other two to match, etc.), which is not ideal. I would like to know if there is a way to work with only ONE instance of the UIScrollView, but have it show up only in the UIViewController that the user is currently interacting with. This would completely eliminate all the synchronization code. Here is basically what I have now in the UITabBarController (which is where all this is currently managed): @interface ScrollerTabBarController : UITabBarController { FirstViewController *firstView; SecondViewController *secondView; ThirdViewController *thirdView; UIScrollView *scrollerOne; UIScrollView *scrollerTwo; UIScrollView *scrollerThree; } @property (nonatomic,retain) IBOutlet FirstViewController *firstView; @property (nonatomic,retain) IBOutlet SecondViewController *secondView; @property (nonatomic,retain) IBOutlet ThirdViewController *thirdView; @property (nonatomic,retain) IBOutlet UIScrollView *scrollerOne; @property (nonatomic,retain) IBOutlet UIScrollView *scrollerTwo; @property (nonatomic,retain) IBOutlet UIScrollView *scrollerThree; @end @implementation ScrollerTabBarController - (void)layoutScroller:(UIScrollView *)scroller {} - (void)scrollToMatch:(UIScrollView *)scroller {} - (void)viewDidLoad { [self layoutScroller:scrollerOne]; [self layoutScroller:scrollerTwo]; [self layoutScroller:scrollerThree]; [scrollerOne setDelegate:self]; [scrollerTwo setDelegate:self]; [scrollerThree setDelegate:self]; [firstView setGallery:scrollerOne]; [secondView setGallery:scrollerTwo]; [thirdView setGallery:scrollerThree]; } - (void)scrollViewDidEndDecelerating:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { [self scrollToMatch:scrollView]; } @end The UITabBarController gets notified (as the scroll view's delegate) when the user scrolls one of the instances, and then calls methods like scrollToMatch: to sync up the other two with the user's choice. Is there something that can be done, using a many-to-one relationship on IBOutlet or something like that, to narrow this down to one instance so I'm not having to manage three scroll views? I tried keeping a single instance and moving the pointer from one view to the next using the UITabBarControllerDelegate methods (calling setGallery:nil on the current and setGallery:scrollerOne on the next each time it changed), but the scroller never moved to the other tabs. Thanks in advance!

  • Recursion in Java enums?

    - by davidrobles
    I've been trying for 3 hours and I just can't understand what is happening here. I have an enum 'Maze'. For some reason, when the method 'search' is called on this enum it's EXTREMELY slow (3 minutes to run). However, if I copy the same method to another class as a static method, and I call it from the enum 'Maze' it runs in one second! I don't understand why? is there any problem with recursive methods in Java enums?? What am I doing wrong? public enum Maze { A("A.txt"), B("B.txt"); // variables here... Maze(String fileName) { loadMap(fileName); nodeDistances = new int[nodes.size()][nodes.size()]; setNeighbors(); setDistances(); } ... more methods here ... private void setDistances() { nodeDistances = new int[nodes.size()][nodes.size()]; for (int i = 0; i < nodes.size(); i++) { setMax(nodeDistances[i]); // This works!!! TestMaze.search(nodes, nodeDistances[i], i, 0); // This DOESN'T WORK //search(nodes, nodeDistances[i], i, 0); } } public void setMax(int[] a) { for (int i=0; i<a.length; i++) { a[i] = Integer.MAX_VALUE; } } public void search(List<Node> allNodes, int[] distances, int curNodeIndex, int curDist) { if (curDist < distances[curNodeIndex]) { distances[curNodeIndex] = curDist; for (Node n : allNodes.get(curNodeIndex).getNeighbors()) { search(allNodes, distances, n.getNodeIndex(), curDist + 1); } } } } public class TestMaze { public static void search(List<Node> allNodes, int[] distances, int curNodeIndex, int curDist) { if (curDist < distances[curNodeIndex]) { distances[curNodeIndex] = curDist; for (Node n : allNodes.get(curNodeIndex).getNeighbors()) { search(allNodes, distances, n.getNodeIndex(), curDist + 1); } } } }

  • Sharepoint 2007 - cant find my modifications to web.config in SpWebApplication.WebConfigModification

    - by user303672
    Hi, I cant seem to find the modifications I made to web.config in my FeatureRecievers Activated event. I try to get the modifications from the SpWebApplication.WebConfigModifications collection in the deactivate event, but this is always empty.... And the strangest thing is that my changes are still reverted after deactivating the feature...
