  • What is the motivation behind c++0x lambda expressions?

    I am trying to find out if there is an actual computational benefit to using lambda expressions in c++, namely "this code compiles/runs faster/slower because we use lambda expressions" OR is it just a neat development perk open for abuse by poor coders trying to look cool?   • mysql_connect randomly hangs up

    I install php 5 (more precisely 5.3.1) as apache module. After this one of my application becomes randomly hang up on mysql_connect - sometimes works, sometimes no, sometimes reload of page helps. How can this be fixed? I use Windows Vista, Apache/2.2.14 (Win32) PHP/5.3.1 with php module, MySql 5.0.67-community-nt.

  • java alternative for phpMyAdmin

    I find myself working in an environment where all I have access to is Tomcat + MySQL. No Apache, no PHP. I'm looking for a web interface to MySQL that will run under Tomcat (can't be a desktop interface, as the mysql port is not accessible). I'm tried jMyAdmin and javaMyAdmin. I can't get either to work, and both lack documentation and community support. Can anyone make a recommendation please?

However the hair pulling was so much that you'd never add it to your resume (even though it might sound impressive) for fear that a future employer might think your the ideal candidate to "migrate", "integrate" or otherwise work with "Application X". Feel free to elaborate on why... (e.g. their APIs change monthly, there is/was no API, etc.) (made into a community wiki)

  • What application you recommend to start peeking to learn Python style?

    Do you know any application, the more interesting/useful the better, to introduce a new person to Python language and the Python code style, but not necessarily to OO programing, so as to learn the subtleties and idioms of the language and surrounding community?
