  • How To Call Javascript In Ajax Response? IE: Close a form div upon success...

    - by B.Gordon
    I have a form that when you submit it, it sends the data for validation to another php script via ajax. Validation errors are echo'd back in a div in my form. A success message also is returned if validation passes. The problem is that the form is still displayed after submit and successful validation. I want to hid the div after success. So, I wrote this simple CSS method which works fine when called from the page the form is displayed on. The problem is that I cannot seem to call the hide script via returned code. I can return html like echo "<p>Thanks, your form passed validation and is being sent</p>"; So I assumed I could simply echo another line after that echo "window.onload=displayDiv()"; inside script tags (which I cannot get to display here)... and that it would hide the form div. It does not work. I am assuming that the problem is that the javascript is being returned incorrectly and not being interpreted by the browser... How can I invoke my 'hide' script on the page via returned data from my validation script? I can echo back text but the script call is ineffective. Thanks! This is the script on the page with the form... I can call it to show/hide with something like onclick="displayDiv()" while on the form but I don't want the user to invoke this... it has be called as the result of a successful validation when I write the results back to the div... function displayDiv() { var divstyle = new String(); divstyle = document.getElementById("myForm").style.display; if(divstyle.toLowerCase()=="block" || divstyle == "") { document.getElementById("myForm").style.display = "none"; } else { document.getElementById("myForm").style.display = "block"; } } PS: I am using the mootools.js library for the form validation if this matters for the syntax..

  • Lucene.Net: How can I add a date filter to my search results?

    - by rockinthesixstring
    I've got my searcher working really well, however it does tend to return results that are obsolete. My site is much like NerdDinner whereby events in the past become irrelevant. I'm currently indexing like this Public Function AddIndex(ByVal searchableEvent As [Event]) As Boolean Implements ILuceneService.AddIndex Dim writer As New IndexWriter(luceneDirectory, New StandardAnalyzer(), False) Dim doc As Document = New Document doc.Add(New Field("id", searchableEvent.ID, Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.UN_TOKENIZED)) doc.Add(New Field("fullText", FullTextBuilder(searchableEvent), Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.TOKENIZED)) doc.Add(New Field("user", If(searchableEvent.User.UserName = Nothing, "User" & searchableEvent.User.ID, searchableEvent.User.UserName), Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.TOKENIZED)) doc.Add(New Field("title", searchableEvent.Title, Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.TOKENIZED)) doc.Add(New Field("location", searchableEvent.Location.Name, Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.TOKENIZED)) doc.Add(New Field("date", searchableEvent.EventDate, Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.UN_TOKENIZED)) writer.AddDocument(doc) writer.Optimize() writer.Close() Return True End Function Notice how I have a "date" index that stores the event date. My search then looks like this ''# code omitted Dim reader As IndexReader = IndexReader.Open(luceneDirectory) Dim searcher As IndexSearcher = New IndexSearcher(reader) Dim parser As QueryParser = New QueryParser("fullText", New StandardAnalyzer()) Dim query As Query = parser.Parse(q.ToLower) ''# We're using 10,000 as the maximum number of results to return ''# because I have a feeling that we'll never reach that full amount ''# anyways. And if we do, who in their right mind is going to page ''# through all of the results? Dim topDocs As TopDocs = searcher.Search(query, Nothing, 10000) Dim doc As Document = Nothing ''# loop through the topDocs and grab the appropriate 10 results based ''# on the submitted page number While i <= last AndAlso i < topDocs.totalHits doc = searcher.Doc(topDocs.scoreDocs(i).doc) IDList.Add(doc.[Get]("id")) i += 1 End While ''# code omitted I did try the following, but it was to no avail (threw a NullReferenceException). While i <= last AndAlso i < topDocs.totalHits If Date.Parse(doc.[Get]("date")) >= Date.Today Then doc = searcher.Doc(topDocs.scoreDocs(i).doc) IDList.Add(doc.[Get]("id")) i += 1 End If End While I also found the following documentation, but I can't make heads or tails of it http://lucene.apache.org/java/1_4_3/api/org/apache/lucene/search/DateFilter.html

  • Problem with function calls [javascript]

    - by Samuel
    <script language="javascript"> function toggle(id) { alert('call'); if (document.getElementById(id).style.display == "none") { alert('now visible'); document.getElementById(id).style.display = ""; } else { alert('now invisible'); document.getElementById(id).style.display = "none"; } } </script> </head> <body onload="toggle('image1');alert('test_body');toggle('image2')"> <script language="javascript"> alert('test_pre_function'); toggle('image1'); alert('test_after_function'); toggle('image2'); </script> Looks like a lot of code but it's pretty simple so i think most of you won't have troubles with it. toggle() should toggle the display status of divs containing images. When the user enters the site the divs should hide, when everything is loaded the divs should show up. (onload) Strangely enough, the funtion in the body (not in the body tag) only work half, i get and alert 'test_pre_function' and i get an alert 'call' (out of the function), but that's it. The code in the body tag runs just fine. I find this weird because it's supposed to do exactly the same twice and one time it runs, another time not, so i guess i must have made some stupid mistake. Thanks for any help!

  • Using Lucene to index private data, should I have a separate index for each user or a single index

    - by Nathan Bayles
    I am developing an Azure based website and I want to provide search capabilities using Lucene. (structured json objects would be indexed and stored in Lucene and other content such as Word documents, etc. would be indexed in lucene but stored in blob storage) I want the search to be secure, such that one user would never see a document belonging to another user. I want to allow ad-hoc searches as typed by the user. Lastly, I want to query programmatically to return predefined sets of data, such as "all notes for user X". I think I understand how to add properties to each document to achieve these 3 objectives. (I am listing them here so if anyone is kind enough to answer, they will have better idea of what I am trying to do) My questions revolve around performance and security. Can I improve document security by having a separate index for each user, or is including the user's ID as a parameter in each search sufficient? Can I improve indexing speed and total throughput of the system by having a separate index for each user? My thinking is that having separate indexes would allow me to scale the system by having multiple index writers (perhaps even on different server instances) working at the same time, each on their own index. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Nate

  • jQuery Suspected Naming Convention Problem

    - by donfigga
    Hi all, I'm having a problem with this jQuery function, the portion of the function that renames the id, class and name of the dropdown only works for the first dropdown, subsequent ones do not work, any ideas? I suspect it may have something to do with naming convention as in cat.parent_id but it is required for asp.net mvc model binding. $(document).ready(function () { $("table select").live("change", function () { var id = $(this).attr('id'); if ($(this).attr('classname') != "selected") { var rowIndex = $(this).closest('tr').prevAll().length; $.getJSON("/Category/GetSubCategories/" + $(this).val(), function (data) { if (data.length > 0) { //problematic portion $("#" + id).attr('classname', 'selected'); $("#" + id).attr('name', 'sel' + rowIndex); $("#" + id).attr('id', 'sel' + rowIndex); var position = ($('table').get(0)); var tr = position.insertRow(rowIndex + 1); var td1 = tr.insertCell(-1); var td2 = tr.insertCell(-1); td1.appendChild(document.createTextNode('SubCategory')); var sel = document.createElement("select"); sel.name = 'parent_id'; sel.id = 'parent_id'; sel.setAttribute('class', 'unselected'); td2.appendChild(sel); $('#parent_id').append($("<option></option>").attr("value", "-1").text("-please select item-")); $.each(data, function (GetSubCatergories, Category) { $('#parent_id').append($("<option></option>"). attr("value", Category.category_id). text(Category.name)); }); sel.name = 'cat.parent_id'; sel.id = 'cat.parent_id'; } }); } }); });

  • How can I prevent double file uploading with Amazon S3?

    - by Tony
    I decided to use Amazon S3 for document storage for an app I am creating. One issue I run into is while I need to upload the files to S3, I need to create a document object in my app so my users can perform CRUD actions. One solution is to allow for a double upload. A user uploads a document to the server my Rails app lives on. I validate and create the object, then pass it on to S3. One issue with this is progress indicators become more complicated. Using most out-of-the-box plugins would show the client that file has finished uploading because it is on my server, but then there would be a decent delay when the file was going from my server to S3. This also introduces unnecessary bandwidth (at least it does not seem necessary) The other solution I am thinking about is to upload the file directly to S3 with one AJAX request, and when that is successful, make a second AJAX request to store the object in my database. One issue here is that I would have to validate the file after it is uploaded which means I have to run some clean up code in S3 if the validation fails. Both seem equally messy. Does anyone have something more elegant working that they would not mind sharing? I would imagine this is a common situation with "cloud storage" being quite popular today. Maybe I am looking at this wrong.

I have checked that obj==BaseLog is not working in the above code. I have tried many options like event.srcelement window.event.srcelement but all in vain. when I debug the code ,I found that obj is having complete value for IE but the same obj is having all the names .ie. the name of tag,id and class for "Base Log" seperated by #. i.e a#BaseLog#TextHeader# Please suggest what shoud I do?

  • Updating UI objects in windows forms

    - by P a u l
    Pre .net I was using MFC, ON_UPDATE_COMMAND_UI, and the CCmdUI class to update the state of my windows UI. From the older MFC/Win32 reference: Typically, menu items and toolbar buttons have more than one state. For example, a menu item is grayed (dimmed) if it is unavailable in the present context. Menu items can also be checked or unchecked. A toolbar button can also be disabled if unavailable, or it can be checked. Who updates the state of these items as program conditions change? Logically, if a menu item generates a command that is handled by, say, a document, it makes sense to have the document update the menu item. The document probably contains the information on which the update is based. If a command has multiple user-interface objects (perhaps a menu item and a toolbar button), both are routed to the same handler function. This encapsulates your user-interface update code for all of the equivalent user-interface objects in a single place. The framework provides a convenient interface for automatically updating user-interface objects. You can choose to do the updating in some other way, but the interface provided is efficient and easy to use. What is the guidance for .net Windows Forms? I am using an Application.Idle handler in the main form but am not sure this is the best way to do this. About the time I put all my UI updates in the Idle event handler my app started to show some performance problems, and I don't have the metrics to track this down yet. Not sure if it's related.

  • How to use javascript to get information from the content of another page (same domain)?

    - by hlovdal
    Let's say I have a web page (/index.html) that contains the following <li> <div>item1</div> <a href="/details/item1.html">details</a> </li> and I would like to have some javascript on /index.html to load that /details/item1.html page and extract some information from that page. The page /details/item1.html might contain things like <div id="some_id"> <a href="/images/item1_picture.png">picture</a> <a href="/images/item1_map.png">map</a> </div> My task is to write a greasemonkey script, so changing anything serverside is not an option. To summarize, javascript is running on /index.html and I would like to have the javascript code to add some information on /index.html extracted from both /index.html and /details/item1.html. My question is how to fetch information from /details/item1.html. I currently have written code to extract the link (e.g. /details/item1.html) and pass this on to a method that should extract the wanted information (at first just .innerHTML from the some_id div is ok, I can process futher later). The following is my current attempt, but it does not work. Any suggestions? function get_information(link) { var obj = document.createElement('object'); obj.data = link; document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].appendChild(obj) var some_id = document.getElementById('some_id'); if (! some_id) { alert("some_id == NULL"); return ""; } return some_id.innerHTML; }

  • Form iteration function not working properly

    - by Moses
    My function is supposed to iterate all forms in the document, and bind an onclick function to each 'calculate' element int he form. The problem is, the function that executes on any of the click events executes in the context of the the last i in the loop. Here is the JavaScript that I'm using: window.onload = function(){ calculateSavings(); } function calculateSavings(){ for (i = 0; i < document.forms.length; i++) { var e = document.forms[i]; e.calculate.onclick = function() { var hours = e.hours.value; var rate = e.rate.value; alert(hours * rate); } } } And here is the HTML it is attached to: <!doctype html> <html> <body> <form> <label for="hours">Hours: </label><input type="text" id="hours" name="hours"> <label for="rate">Rate: </label><input type="text" id="rate" name="rate"> <input type="button" name="calculate" value="Calculate"> <div id="savings"></div> </form> <form> <label for="hours">Hours: </label><input type="text" id="hours" name="hours"> <label for="rate">Rate: </label><input type="text" id="rate" name="rate"> <input type="button" name="calculate" value="Calculate"> <div id="savings"></div> </form> </body> </html> I'm sure this is a really basic question but the solution is completely eluding me at this point.

  • How lucene indexing ?

    - by user312140
    Hello I read some document about lucene ; also i read the document in this link ( http://lucene.sourceforge.net/talks/pisa ) . I don't really understand how lucene index documents and don't understand lucene work with which algorithm for indexing ? On above link , said lucene use this algorithm for indexing : * incremental algorithm: o maintain a stack of segment indices o create index for each incoming document o push new indexes onto the stack o let b=10 be the merge factor; M=8 for (size = 1; size < M; size *= b) { if (there are b indexes with size docs on top of the stack) { pop them off the stack; merge them into a single index; push the merged index onto the stack; } else { break; } } How this algorithm help us to have an optimize indexing ? Does lucene use B-tree algorithm or any other algorithm like that for indexing or have a paticular algorithm ? Thank you for reading my post .

  • Is there unresizable space in latex? Pictures in good looking grid.

    - by drasto
    I've created latex macro to typeset guitar chords diagrams(using picture environment). Now I want to make diagrams of different appear in good looking grid when typeset one next to each other as the picture shows: The picture. (on the picture: Labeled "First" bad layout of diagrams, labeled "Second" correct layout when equal number of diagrams in line) I'm using \hspace to make some skips between diagrams, otherwise they would be too near to each other. As you can see in second case when latex arrange pictures in so that there is same number of them in each line it works. However if there is less pictures in the last line they become "shifted" to the right. I don't want this. I guess is because latex makes the space between diagrams in first line a little longer for the line to exactly fit the page width. How do I tell latex not to resize spaces created by \hspace ? Or is there any other way ? I guess I cannot use tables because I don't know how many diagrams will fit in one line... This is current state of code: \newcommand{\spaceForChord}{1.7cm} \newcommnad{\chordChart}[1]{% %calculate dimensions xdim and ydim according to setings \begin{picture}(xdim, ydim){% %draw the diagram inside defined area }% \hspace*{\spaceForChord}% \hspace*{-\xdim}% }% %end preambule and begin document \begin{document} First:\\* \\* \chordChart{...some arguments for to change diagram look...} \chordChart{...some arguments for to change diagram look...} \chordChart{...some arguments for to change diagram look...} \chordChart{...some arguments for to change diagram look...} \chordChart{...some arguments for to change diagram look...} %...above line is repeated 12 more times to produce result shown at the picture \end{document} Thanks for any help.

  • Why does jQuery's $().each() function seem to be losing track of the DOM?

    - by Nate Wagar
    I've recently started encountering a very strange problem. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure how to describe it other than to just show it. Here's the relevant HTML: <div class="component container w100 noEdit" id="contentWrapper"> <div class="component container w50" id="container1"> <div class="component text w50" id="text1"> Text1 </div> </div> <div class="component container w25" id="container2"> Container2 </div> <div class="component container w25" id="container3"> Container3 </div> <div class="component container w25" id="container4"> Container4 </div> </div> And the relevant JavaScript: $(document).ready(function () { //Add the Grab Bar to container components on the page. $('.component').each(wrapComponentForEdit); $('#contentWrapper').sortable(); $('#contentWrapper').disableSelection(); }); var wrapComponentForEdit = function() { if (!$(this).hasClass('noEdit')) { $(this).html('<div class="componentBorder">' + $(this).html() + '</div>'); $(this).prepend('<div class="grabBar_l"><div class="grabBar_r"><div class="grabBar"></div></div></div>'); alert($(this).attr('id')); } } The end result of this is that I see an alert pop up for container1, text1, container2, container3, container 4. And yet only the containers (not the text) end up with the visual changes that the $().each() is supposed to make. Anyone have any idea what the heck is going on? Thanks! EDIT - A different way to do it, that still fails I tried this, with the same result: $(document).ready(function () { //Add the Grab Bar to container components on the page. var matched = $('.component'); var componentCount = $(matched).size(); for (i = 0; i < componentCount; i++) { wrapComponentForEdit($(matched).eq(i)); } $('#contentWrapper').sortable({ handle: '.grabBarBit', tolerance: 'pointer'}); $('#contentWrapper').disableSelection(); }); var wrapComponentForEdit = function(component) { if (!$(component).hasClass('noEdit')) { $(component).html('<div class="grabBar_l grabBarBit"><div class="grabBar_r grabBarBit"><div class="grabBar grabBarBit"></div></div></div><div class="componentBorder">' + $(component).html() + '</div>'); alert($(component).attr('id')); } } EDIT 2: Another alternate method, but this one works I tried another way of doing things, and this way it works. However, the initial question still stands. Judging by how this new way works, it seems to me that the DOM is being updated, but jQuery isn't updating with it, so it loses track of the child element. $(document).ready(function () { //Add the Grab Bar to container components on the page. var componentCount = $('.component').size(); for (i = 0; i < componentCount; i++) { wrapComponentForEdit($('.component').eq(i)); } $('#contentWrapper').sortable({ handle: '.grabBarBit', tolerance: 'pointer'}); $('#contentWrapper').disableSelection(); }); var wrapComponentForEdit = function(component) { if (!$(component).hasClass('noEdit')) { $(component).html('<div class="grabBar_l grabBarBit"><div class="grabBar_r grabBarBit"><div class="grabBar grabBarBit"></div></div></div><div class="componentBorder">' + $(component).html() + '</div>'); alert($(component).attr('id')); } }

  • Dynamically Changing an img tag's onemouseover attribute with Javascript nulls it instead

    - by ?s?zs?
    I want to create an img that has four different states: State 1 over State 1 out State 2 over State 2 out Each state is a different image, and the user can toggle between states 1 and 2 by clicking on the image. To do this I change the src when the image is clicked and the onmouseover and onmouseout attributes of the img element. However when the attributes have been changed they become nulled and do nothing. How can I dynamically change these properties? Here is the code I am using: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <script> function change() { document.getElementById('image').src="http://youtube.thegoblin.net/layoutFix/hideplaylist.png"; document.getElementById('image').onmouseover="this.src='http://youtube.thegoblin.net/layoutFix/hideplaylistDark.png'"; document.getElementById('image').onmouseout="this.src='http://youtube.thegoblin.net/layoutFix/hideplaylist.png'"; } </script> </head> <body> <img id="image" src="http://youtube.thegoblin.net/layoutFix/showplaylist.png" onmouseover="this.src='http://youtube.thegoblin.net/layoutFix/showplaylistDark.png'" onmouseout="this.src='http://youtube.thegoblin.net/layoutFix/showplaylist.png'" onClick="change()"> </body> </html>

  • DRY jQuery for RESTful PUT/DELETE links

    I'm putting together PUT/DELETE links, a la Rails, which when clicked create a POST form with an hidden input labelled _method that sends the intended request type. I want to make it DRYer, but my jQuery knowledge isn't up to it. HTML: <a href="/articles/1" class="delete">Destroy Article 1</a> <a href="/articles/1/publish" class="put">Publish Article 1</a> jQuery: $(document).ready(function() { $('.delete').click(function() { if(confirm('Are you sure?')) { var f = document.createElement('form'); $(this).after($(f).attr({ method: 'post', action: $(this).attr('href') }).append('<input type="hidden" name="_method" value="DELETE" />')); $(f).submit(); } return false; }); $('.put').click(function() { var f = document.createElement('form'); $(this).after($(f).attr({ method: 'post', action: $(this).attr('href') }).append('<input type="hidden" name="_method" value="PUT" />')); $(f).submit(); return false; }); });

  • PHP Form multiple buttons

    - by Ken
    I have a form with 2 buttons, that depending on which is selected will either be deleted or edited from the database. Those are each individual pages using SQL statements (questionedit and questiondelete). However, when i press a button, nothing happens...Any Ideas Here is my javascript <script type="text/javascript"> function SelectedButton(button) { if(button == 'edit') { document.testedit_questionform.action ="testedit_questionedit.php"; } else if(button == 'delete') { document.testedit_questionform.action ="testedit_questiondelete.php"; } document.forms[].testedit_questionform.submit(); } </script> Here is my form (being echoed from a loop) <form name=\"testedit_questionform\" action=\"SelectedButton\" method=\"POST\"> <span class=\"grid_11 prefix_1\" id=\"\" > Question:<input type=\"text\" name=\"QuestionText\" style=\"width:588px; margin-left:10px;\" value=\"$row[0]\"/> <input type=\"button\" value=\"Edit\" name=\"Operation\"onclick=\"submitForm(\'edit\')\" /> <input type=\"button\" value=\"Delete\" name=\"Operation\"onclick=\"submitForm(\'delete\')\" /> <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"QId\" value=\"$row[3]\" /><br />"); </form>

  • How to deal with unknown entity references?

    - by Chris
    I'm parsing (a lot of) XML files that contain entity references which i dont know in advance (can't change that fact). For example: xml = "<tag>I'm content with &funny; &entity; &references;.</tag>" when i try to parse this using the following code: final DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); final DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder(); final InputSource is = new InputSource(new StringReader(xml)); final Document d = db.parse(is); i get the following exception: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The entity "funny" was referenced, but not declared. but, what i do want to achieve is, that the parser replaces every entity that is not declared (unknown to the parser) with an empty String ''. Or even better, is there a way to pass a map to the parser like: Map<String,String> entityMapping = ... entityMapping.put("funny","very"); entityMapping.put("entity","important"); entityMapping.put("references","stuff"); so that i could do the following: final DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); final DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder(); final InputSource is = new InputSource(new StringReader(xml)); db.setEntityResolver(entityMapping); final Document d = db.parse(is); if i would obtain the text from the document using this example code i should receive: I'm content with very important stuff. Any suggestions? Of course, i already would be happy to just replace the unknown entity's with empty strings. Thanks,

  • Password value on click is not changing the text to 'Password'

    - by Sam
    window.onload=function() { var password = document.getElementById('apassword'); var real = document.getElementById('password'); var fake = document.createElement('input'); fake.setAttribute('type', 'text'); /*fake.setAttribute('id', 'password');*/ fake.setAttribute('class', 'contact-input contact-right'); password.appendChild(fake); fake.setAttribute('value', 'Password'); fake.onfocus = function() {this.style.display='none';real.style.display=''; real.focus();}; real.style.display = 'none'; real.setAttribute('value', ''); real.onblur = function() {if(this.value==''){this.style.display='none';fake.style.display=''}}; }; AND <label id="apassword"> <input type="password" title="Password" id="password" class="contact-input contact-right" name="password" /> </label> What is supposed to happen is that when you click on the input box, it changes from 'Password' to a blank type="password" input box, however it doesn't happen. This originally worked, but then I had to change some ID's and classes etc. I'm not sure how to debug scripts, so hopefully someone can help me with that, and also with my question :). Thankyou :).

  • Reduce file size for charts pasted from excel into word

    - by Steve Clanton
    I have been creating reports by copying some charts and data from an excel document into a word document. I am pasting into a content control, so i use ChartObject.CopyPicture in excel and ContentControl.Range.Paste in word. This is done in a loop: Set ws = ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("Charts") With ws For Each cc In wordDocument.ContentControls If cc.Range.InlineShapes.Count > 0 Then scaleHeight = cc.Range.InlineShapes(1).scaleHeight scaleWidth = cc.Range.InlineShapes(1).scaleWidth cc.Range.InlineShapes(1).Delete .ChartObjects(cc.Tag).CopyPicture Appearance:=xlScreen, Format:=xlPicture cc.Range.Paste cc.Range.InlineShapes(1).scaleHeight = scaleHeight cc.Range.InlineShapes(1).scaleWidth = scaleWidth ElseIf ... Next cc End With Creating these reports using Office 2007 yielded files that were around 6MB, but creating them (using the same worksheet and document) in Office 2010 yields a file that is around 10 times as large. After unzipping the docx, I found that the extra size comes from emf files that correspond to charts that are pasted in using VBA. Where they range from 360 to 900 KB before, they are 5-18 MB. And the graphics are not visibly better. I am able to CopyPicture with the format xlBitmap, and while that is somewhat smaller, it is larger than the emf generated by Office 2007 and noticeably poorer quality. Are there any other options for reducing the file size? Ideally, I would like to produce a file with the same resolution for the charts as I did using Office 2007. Is there any way that uses VBA only (without modifying the charts in the spreadsheet)?
