• Why doesn't my viewmodel properties get populated

  Hi. I've looked all over and I can't figure out why my viewmodel doesn't get populated. I have this code: Followers = new ObservableCollection<aspnet_User>(_followersRepo.aspnet_Users); _followersRepo.Load(_followersRepo.GetUsersFollowingIDQuery(CurrentUserId)); Following = new ObservableCollection<aspnet_User>(_followingRepo.aspnet_Users); _followingRepo.Load(_followingRepo.GetUsersFollowedByIDQuery(CurrentUserId)); CurrentUser = _fullUserRepo.FullUsers.SingleOrDefault(); _fullUserRepo.Load(_fullUserRepo.GetFullUserByIDQuery(CurrentUserId)); But when I debug, there is no data loaded to the Followers, Following and CurrentUser objects. I know that data should be returned because I'm trying to implement the MVVM pattern in my app, and haven't changed the domainservice. Also I can se debugging the CurrentUserId has a value.

• Validating an e-mail field based on a specific domain

  I have a site that will require a login by the users. The client will only only users from their company's domain to gain access. I need to validate the field based on an e-mail domain address. ie. only allow email addresses from @mycompany.com to go through. Can this be done with the jquery.validate plugin? I see where you can check to see if it's a valid e-mail, but I'd like to make sure it matches a specific pattern (@mycompany.com). Any help would be appreciated!

  If I am writing up a class with more than 1 constructor parameter like: class A{ public A(Dependency1 d1, Dependency2 d2, ...){} } I usually create a "argument holder"-type of class like: class AArgs{ public Dependency1 d1 { get; private set; } public Dependency2 d2 { get; private set; } ... } and then: class A{ public A(AArgs args){} } Typically, using a DI-container I can configure the constructor for dependencies & resolve them & so there is minimum impact when the constructors need to change. Is this considered an anti-pattern and/or any arguments against doing this?

  I am using a custom route handler for a webforms application. I am using routes to determine localization. ie: if the url has es or fr in the route it will load either spanish or french resources. for example: www.someroute/es/checkstuff/checkstuff.aspx will load: www.someroute/checkstuff/checkstuff.aspx with the spanish resources. I am configuring the custom routes in global.asax via: protected void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) { RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); } public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { foreach (var value in _customRoutes) { routes.Add(value.RouteName, new Route(value.Route, new CustomRouteHandler(value.ResolvedRoute))); } } where _customroutes is a list of routes. Is there a way to do this with some kind of pattern matching so I can avoid adding a specific route for each page in the application. While I know I could use a t4 template to generate the routes, I guess I am looking for a dynamic way to create the list

This means that BaseVisited::accept() takes a template class as a parameter and since it uses 'this' and i need 'this' to point to the correct runtime instance of the object, it also needs to be virtual. The substrings that start with '+[0-9]' followed by '[A-z]{n}.' need to be replaced with simply '+' where the variable n is the digit from earlier in the substring. Can that n be back referenced?   Hello, gcc 4.4.4 c89 I am writing a client/server application. I have finished and now I want to implement some logging feature that will display log messages on the screen as well as log to a file. However, I don't want to display all log messages (warning, error, critical, unrecoverable, debug, etc). Maybe I can set so that it will display, just errors and debug messages and nothing else. For example, the user might not be interested in the debug messages. Is there any design-pattern that I can follow? What do you normally for for logging? Any tutorials out there that address logging? many thanks for any suggestions,

  I moved my images directory to a different folder, and now I want to redirect all images requests from that folder to the new one. I do not have access to the main configuraion file, so I'm doing this in a .htaccess. I tried this, and it works:     RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} old_dir/.+.(jpg|png|gif)$     RewriteRule old_dir/(.+[^/]+..+)$ $1 [L,PT] But since they have permanently moved, I want to do a proper redirect, so I added the [R] flag, like this:      %{REQUEST_URI} old_dir/.+.(jpg|png|gif)$     RewriteRule old_dir/(.+[^/]+..+)$ $1 [L,PT,R] But the server gets confused, and returns a 400, so I looked at the log file, and this is what happens:     strip per-dir prefix: C:/wamp/www/natrazyle/old_dir/images/banner.jpg - old_dir/images/banner.jpg     applying pattern 'old_dir/(.+[^/]+..+)$' to uri 'old_dir/images/banner.jpg'     rewrite 'old_dir/images/banner.jpg' - 'images/banner.jpg'     add per-dir prefix: images/banner.jpg - C:/wamp/www/natrazyle/images/banner.jpg     explicitly forcing redirect with http://localhost/C:/wamp/www/natrazyle/images/banner.jpg As you can see, the full local path gets added after localhost I know I'm doing something wrong, I just can't figure it out myself. • How to do simultaneous builds in two Git branches?

  I've looked at git-new-workdir, but I don't want the history to be shared because the branches have a release-main relationship. That is, changes in the release branch I want to propagate to the main line, but changes in the main line I don't want in the release line. A common pattern for me is to fix a bug in the release line, integrate it to the main line, then start builds in both branches at the same time. Is there a way to do this with git-new-workdir, do I need to clone, or is there a better solution? Thanks

• Do fields need to be explicitly final to have a "proper" immutable object?

  You often read about immutable objects requiring final fields to be immutable in Java. Is this in fact the case, or is it simply enough to have no public mutability and not actually mutate the state? For example, if you have an immutable object built by the builder pattern, you could do it by having the builder assign the individual fields as it builds, or having the builder hold the fields itself and ultimately return the immutable object by passing the values to its (private) constructor. Having the fields final has the obvious advantage of preventing implementation errors (such as allowing code to retain a reference to the builder and "building" the object multiple times while in fact mutating an existing object), but having the Builder store its data inside the object as it is built would seem to be DRYer. So the question is: Assuming the Builder does not leak the Object early and stops itself from modifying the object once built (say by setting its reference to the object as null) is there actually anything gained (such as improved thread safety) in the "immutability" of the object if the object's fields were made final instead?

  Hi! I'm having quite a problem here, and I think it is because I don't understand very much how I should use the API provided by Java. I need to write an int and a byte[] into a byte[] I thought of using a DataOutputStream to solve the data writing with writeInt(int i) and write(byte[] b), and to be able to put that into a byte array, I should use ByteArrayOutputStream's method toByteArray(). I understand that this classes use the Wrapper pattern, so I had two options: DataOutputStream w = new DataOutputStream(new ByteArrayOutputStream()); or ByteArrayOutputStream w = new ByteArrayOutputStream(new DataOutputStream()); but in both cases, I "loose" a method. in the first case, I can't access the toByteArray method, and in the second, I can't access the writeInt method. How should I use this classes together?

• StructureMap DI on Model Assembly

  I’m new to Dependency Injection and had a question/need guidance. I had an application that used the repository pattern for data access. I used StructureMap to get the correct repository and all worked well. I have since broken out my model (including the repository logic) into its own assembly and added a service layer. In the interest of DI the service layer class takes an IRepository in its constructor. This seems wrong to me as now all consumers of my model need to know about the repository (at least configure their DI to know which one to use). I feel like that is getting into the guts of the model. What sounds wrong with this?

  Hi! I'm doing a conversion between two software which both use XML so the actual conversion part is fairly straightforward - adding text here, removing others here, converting a few information. I'm using VBSCript WSH. The only issue I'm still having is the darn &#13; character - that's my problem! I've tried both strText = Replace(strText, "&#13;", "") and using a regex with Regex.pattern = "&#13;" ... neither works. I also tried replacing char(13), VBCR... nothing seems to detect the actual string itself and not the character it's creating. Can anyone help me?

• Wordpress Custom Type permalink containing Taxonomy slug

  I'm trying to create a permalink pattern for a Custom Type, that includes one of its taxonomies. The taxonomy name is known from the start (so I'm not trying to add or mix all of its taxonomies, just a specific one), but the value will by dynamic, of course. Normally, the Custom Type permalink is built using the rewrite arg with the slug param, but I don't see how I could add a dynamic variable in there. http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_post_type I'm guessing a custom solution is required, but I'm not sure what the best unintrusive approach would be. Is there a known practice for this or has anyone built something similar recently? I'm using WP 3.2.1 btw.

• What is the right way to implement communication between java objects?

  I'm working on an academic project which simulates a rather large queuing procedure in java. The core of the simulator rests within one package where there exist 8 classes, each one implementing a single concept. Every class in the project follows SRP. These classes encapsulate the behavior of the simulator and inter-connect every other class in the project. The problem that has arisen is that most of these 8 classes are, as is logical i think, tightly coupled and each one has to have working knowledge of every other class in this package in order to be able to call methods from it when needed. The application needs only one instance of each class so it might be better to create static fields for each class in a new class and use that to make calls -instead of preserving a reference in each class for every other class in the package (which I'm certain that is incorrect)-, but is this considered a correct design solution? or is there a design pattern maybe that better suits my needs?

  It appears that regex (as in regular expressions) is not supported in excel, except via VBA. Is this so, and is it is, are there any "open source" custom VBA functions that support regex. In this case I'm looking to extract complex pattern within a string, but any implementation of a custom VBA function that expose support of regex within the function itself would be of use. If you know of semi-related function such as the IS function, feel feel to comment, though I'm really looking for a full regular expression implementation that is exposed via functions. • What do you name your files when using MVC?

  When using the MVC pattern, which I'm not terribly experienced with, I find myself naming things like this: /app/views/widget.php /app/models/widget.php /app/controllers/widget.php That appeals to me because it's easy to find associated classes, and I lean towards shorter names when practical. However, when I'm looking in my IDE, I see three different files called widget.php, which is confusing. I'm tempted to add "_v", "_c", "_m" or something to each name. How do you handle this? FWIW, I'm using CodeIgniter at the moment, and I don't know if there are any special benefits to using a particular convention, or any standard practices. Regardless, I'm intersted in the best-practices from various platforms.

  Hi, I have a JS date that is being converted by Dojo into RFC822 format. The function call - dojo.date.toRfc3339(jsDate), generates the following date - 2007-02-26T20:15:00+02:00. I have an application that uses a Java date SimpleDateFormat to parse in the dates generated above. I am having problems parsing this date format due to the timezone. I have attempted to use yyyy-mm-DD'T'hh:mm:ssZ This fails as the 'Z' for timezone doesn't expect a ':' character. Does anyone know how I would specify a pattern to handle a RFC822 date with the ':'?   I have the following expression which will be used as date validation in the HTML5 "pattern" attribute. ?:0[1-9]|1[0-9]|2[0-9])|(?:(?!02)(?:0[1-9]|1[0-2])-(?:30))|(?:(?:0[13578]|1[02])-31))-(?:(?:0[1-9]|1[0-2])-(?:19|20)[0-9]{2} I want it to allow only valid dates, using "-" as a separator. This means up to 29th in February if it's a leap year, and 30/31 for other months respectively. Currently, it only allows years starting with 2 (2012) and months up to 12 (December). But it limits the day to 29 regardless of which month. Can anybody help me fix it?

  Hi everyone I am new to mongo, this is my db design: product := { name: str group: ref, comments: [ ref, ref, ref, ref ] } comments := { ... a bunch of comments stuff } tag := { _id: int, #Need this for online requests tag: str, products: [ {product: ref, score: float}, ... ], comments: [ {comment: ref, score: float}, ...], } So my usage pattern is: GIVEN a product, find comments that have certain tag and sort them accordingly. My current approach involves: Look for that tag object that has tag=myTag pull all the comments out, sorted look for that product where product.name=myProduct pull all the comments out (which are dbrefs by the way) loop through the result of 2, and checking if they are in 4, (this I can do a limit 10) etc. It's pretty inefficient. Any better methods?
