Trying to parse xml, but xmldocument.loadxml() is trying to download?

I have a string input that i do not know whether or not is valid xml. I think the simplest aprroach is to wrap new XmlDocument().LoadXml(strINPUT); In a try/catch. The problem im facing is, sometimes strINPUT is an html file, if the header of this file contains <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC ""-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"" ""http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd""> <html xml:lang=""en-GB"" xmlns=""http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"" lang=""en-GB""> ...like many do, it actually tries to make a connection to the w3.org url, which i really dont want it doing. Anyone know if its possible to just parse the string without trying to be clever and checking external urls? Failing that is there an alternative to xmldocument?

Reading chunked data from HttpEntity

I have the following code: HttpClient FETCHER HttpResponse response = FETCHER.execute(host, httpMethod); Im trying to read its contents to a string like this: HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); InputStream st = entity.getContent(); StringWriter writer = new StringWriter(); IOUtils.copy(st, writer); String content = writer.toString(); The problem is, when i fetch http://www.google.co.in/ page, the transfer encoding is chunked, and i get only the first chunk. It fetches till first "". How do i get all the chunks at once so i can dump the complete output and do some processing on it ?

iphone's nsxmlparser parsing RSS causes encoding problems

Hi, Im working on simle RSS reader. This reader loads data from internet via this code: NSXMLParser *rss = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/50405236.rss"]]; My problem is with encoding. RSS 2.0 file is supposed to be UTF8 encoded according to encoding attribute in XML file. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> So when I download URLs content I get text truncated after first occurance of char with diacritics, example: l š c t ž ý á í é, etc. I tried to solve the problem by downloading URL as UTF8 string, I used this code: NSString *rssXmlString = [NSString stringWithContentsOfURL: [NSURL URLWithString: @"http://www.macblog.sk/rss.xml"] encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error: nil]; NSData *rssXmlData = [rssXmlString dataUsingEncoding: NSUTF8StringEncoding]; Did not help. htaccess - Redirects with more than 1 slash not working

Hey everyone, Just moved to shared hosting on GoDaddy and Im trying to get my .htaccess rules working. Using multiple SWF Object - Flash doesn't focus on rollover

I've got a page with multiple embeds of Flash objects, including dynamically created graphs. I'm including them all with SWF Object JS declared in the header. It works fine in the fact that all are loaded. But, for some reason when you move down on the page (so they're out of view) and back, or click on another object it no longer has focus when you're rolling over. I.e. I have a flash menu that moves on rollover. When you go down the page, click on something, then go back up it no longer response to rollover. I've seen bits on here and elsewhere about losing focus in Firefox (which is the browser Im using - i havent managed to find this bug in IE) but it's talking about literally not being able to type or whatever, when you click on it. This is on rollover. Has anyone got any advice or thoughts on this subject?

Hi, I know theres hundred of questions and answers out there, but cant find one to specifically answer this. I need a web editor that will let me choose a dark themed editor. I understand gvim is one, but im not totally ready to let go of my mouse. I would like something like sublime text editor for windows, but open to other suggestions. The less bloat the best. I dont need a full IDE like eclipse, but willing to compromise, as long as the themes can easily be added. I've tried bluefish, kompozer and not happy with them. Just need a basic text editor that will highlight php syntax on a dark background.

I'm having real difficulty with a query involving 3 tables. I need to get the 3 newest users per department grouped by department names. The groups should be sorted by the users.dateadded so the department with the newest activity is first. The users can exist in multiple departments so Im using a lookup table that just contains the userID and deptID. My tables are as follows. Setting up a SQL server outside the domain

Hi, im very new to this. I've set up an account "SQLBOX" thats on the a network, but not connected to the domain. I have installed an instance of SQL Server 2008 and am trying to connect to it from another machine on the network but am getting "Cannot connect to "SQLBOX"". From the "SQLBOX" i can connect to sqlservers on the domain, but not vice-versa. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if the description isn't great. EDIT I can ping the box from a machine on the domain

GIS: When and why to use ArcObjects over GDAL programming to work with ArcGIS rasters and vectors?

Im just starting off with GDAL + python to support operations that cannot be done with ArcGIS python geoprocessing scripting. Mainly I am doing spatial modeling/analysis/editing of raster and vector data. I am a bit confused when ArcObject development is required versus when GDAL can be used? Is there functionality of ArcObjects that GDAL does not do? Is the opposite true too? I am assuming that ArcObjects are more useful in developing online tools versus Desktop analysis and modeling where the difference is more to do with preference? In my case i prefer GDAL because of python support, which I believe ArcObjects lack. thanks!

apache mod_rewrite redirection problem

ok i am having a problem with redirection on apache, i have a domain configured on my hosting account but the domain needs to be redirected to a folder. eg: / is root of server where the mysite.com answers /mysite is where the files are so i got this htaccess code to do the job: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?mysite.com$ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/mysite/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /mysite/$1 RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?mysite.com$ RewriteRule ^(/)?$ mysite/index.php [L] plus i made an index.php to redirect to mysite folder. everything seems to be working good the only problem is i added a forum on /mysite/forums/ and for some reason instead of getting mysite.com/forums/ in the browser im getting mysite.com/mysite/forums/ could anyone help me solve this problem? How do people handle working with Code Names for their projects?

Hi All, Recently we started using some code names for several different types of prototype applications all following a theme. This made things a little more fun and was a great idea. The problem is that Im not too sure how people deal with migrating a codebase from "codename" state into version 1.0 state which may have a proper name... not something that a client really shouldnt see :) We are using Visual Studio at the moment, and I can see that you can change the assembly name, but there are references to the namespaces, etc... that would really be a large change to make. Do people both changing things like namespaces before the v1.0 release?

Inside logout button click action method...i had coded like this [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:NO]; but on button click nothing happening... first : parent--loginviewcontroller child--welcomescreen view controller Inside welcome screen,in account tab,on logout button click: how could i dismiss the above MVC.... can anyone give me a solution as soon as possible...its urgent...

CF - Mobile Managed Gestures

Im looking for a nice demo/sample using Windows Mobile Managed Gestures. I have a main view that contains a single panel. Every item in the panel is another panel containing pictureBox and a label. I would like to implement scrooling (finger flicking) to avoid using thin scroolers. Are the Windows Mobile Managed Gestures the right solution to get this working, if so can some one provide me with a begginers demo? I downloaded the source code from http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/gestureswm/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=3438 but i would need a simple example using this source. Also a question ... does this work only on 6.5? Even if i got this working is there a way to support this in 6.0 ? thanx!

Getting mysql row that doesn't conflict with another row

I have two tables that link together through an id one is "submit_moderate" and one is "submit_post" The "submit_moderate" table looks like this id moderated_by post 1 James 60 2 Alice 32 3 Tim 18 4 Michael 60 Im using a simple query to get data from the "submit_post" table according to the "submit_moderate" table. $get_posts = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM submit_moderate WHERE moderated_by!='$user'"); $user is the person who is signed in. Now my problem is when I run this query, with the user 'Michael' it will retrieve this 1 James 60 2 Alice 32 3 Tim 18 Now technically this is correct however I don't want to retrieve the first row because 60 is associated with Michael as well as James. Basically I don't want to retrieve that value '60'. I know why this is happening however I can't figure out how to do this. I appreciate any hints or advice I can get.

How do I execute a cmd in C#, then in the same window execute another command that follows?

Hey Guys, Right what im trying to accomplish is a program that basically sets the active partition in 1 click, saving the effort time and skill of using cmd prompt etc. I have looked into the System.Management name space but couldn't work out how to use it :( So i have resorted to using CMD, i have got a module application written in C# and basically i want to run "DISKPART" which then starts the diskpart in the cmd window, then i want to ask it to "Select disk 0" followed by "select partition 1" finally followed by "active". Doing this in CMD yourself works fine but with an application its proved to be awkward :( What ive managed to get it to do is run DiskPart fine in one window with Process.Start, then get it to open a new window and run the next piece of code but because the new window hasnt ran the diskpart cmd it doesnt work :( Any suggestions? How do I customise date/time bindings using JAXWS and APT?

Im using JAXWS 2.1.7, using some classes to run through JAXWS's 'apt' to generate the WSDL. For dates, I use @XmlSchemaType(name="time") private Date wakeupTime; and this generates a schema with xs:time, but when this all comes out in XML, the value is something like <wakeupTime>1901-01-01T01:00:00 +10</wakeupTime> I want JUST the time portion to come! I think I want to use a custom converter to say that xs:time + java.util.Date should be printed and parsed in such-and-sucha manner, but I cant see that I can pass a bindings file to the apt routine. I can't (for historical & other reasons) use XMLGregorianCalendar - it has to be a java.util.Date. How do I specify a custom binding for the apt tool in jaxb

Random Number on SQL without using NewID()

Hello I want to generate a Unique Random number with out using the follow statement : Convert(int, (CHECKSUM(NEWID()))*100000) AS [ITEM] Cause when I use joins clauses on "from" it generates double registers by using NEWID() Im using SQL Server 2000 *PD : When I use Rand() it probably repeat on probability 1 of 100000000 but this is so criticall so it have to be 0% of probability to repeat a random value generated My Query with NewID() and result on SELECT statement is duplicated (x2) My QUery without NewID() and using Rand() on SELECT statement is single (x1) but the probability of repeat the random value generated is uncertainly but exists! Eclipse: How to add an existing source folder?

ARGH Eclipse is SO frustrating I have a directory called c:\RemoteSrc . Under this there are 3 directories which are currently source folders (I think? the icon is an open folder with a little orange grid in it) in my Eclipse project. I have dropped a new directory under c:\RemoteSrc which I also want to add to my project. BUT If I right click on my project and go "Build Path..." - "Link Source" and try to add it it tells me "Folder already exists with a different case". Yes i KNOW that the folder already exists THATS WHY IM TRYING TO ADD IT.

Reading files using Windows API

Hi I'm trying to write a console program that reads characters from a file. i want it to be able to read from a Unicode file as well as an ANSI one. how should i address this issue? do i need to programatically distinguish the type of file and read acoordingly? or can i somehow use the windows API data types like TCHAR and stuff like that. The only differnce between reading from the files is that in Unicode i have to read 2 bytes for a character and in ASNSI its 1 byte? im a little lost with this windows API. would appretiate any help thanks

stuck on sliders with jquery

I am building a portfolio page of different work that has been done and im using two different jquery sliding techniques, one nested in amongst the other one. The first slider works great but the second one doesnmt work that great for the first few and then doesnt work at all.
