    Hi folks, Is it possible to step through the official ASP.NET MVC 2 code via using the Symbol Server thingy in visual studio 2010? I know I can download the full open source MVC code from codeplex, build it and then get my code to reference THAT codebase dll's... But i'm wondering if this could be achieved by using the Symbol Server stuff instead? If so, can someone go through some steps please, about how to achieve this?

    How do I make extra initializations on a modal dialog before calling DoModal(); ? I have a main Dialog (the one that is created automatically when I select new MFC Application in Visual Studio 2008 Professional). When I click a button on this dialog I want to open another dialog and set a CString value into a CEdit control. my code: ... void OnClickedButtonX(){ SecondDialogClass Dlg2; Dlg2.asocVar2Cedit.SetWindowTextW(L"my text"); Dlg2.DoModal(); } //asocVar2Cedit is the associeted control variable to the //CEdit control on the second Dialog (Right Click > Add Variable.. in VSC++) ... this code generates a "Debug Assertion" error in winocc...     I have a windows app (app.exe) build with visual studio 2008, for which I have created a custom installer class. When I run installutil.exe on app.exe, the custom installer is executed OK. I then added a setup & deployment project to create the windows installer file app.msi - this works fine but it does not run the custom installer. How is my custom installer class supposed to get linked to the setup MSI file?

    I am working on a large C++ project in Visual Studio 2008, and there are a lot of files with unnecessary #include's. Sometimes the #include's are just artifacts and everything will compile fine with them removed, and in other cases classes could be forward declared and the #include could be moved to the .cpp file. Are there any good tools for detecting both of these cases?

  • Deploying application with ClickOnce to network share while being offsite

    I have application written in Visual Studio 2008 which I deploy with ClickOnce to network share while at work. Sometimes I work from home and I don't have VPN that allows access of shares to deploy application from outside of company. Is there a way that I could simple pack it, send thru FTP and unpack it on the server so that ClickOnce never notices it's been delivered differently and so it doesn't loose numeration and everything associated with normal network deployment? It's C#, .NET 3.5 application.

I can get the IVsTextView of the output window, like so: IVsTextView view = GetService(typeof(SVsOutputWindow)) as IVsTextView; // grab text from the view and process it However, if a different panel other than the "Debug" panel is currently active, then this IVsTextView will have text from that panel, and not the "Debug" panel. Is it possible to get an IVsTextView for a specific output window panel, without calling OutputWindowPanel.Activate() prior to getting the IVsTextView of the output window?

  • Expression Studio 4 Premium & SketchFlow question; WTH

    Through work I have an Visual Studio Premium with MSDN subscription that I love. However, my biggest disappointment of the last 12 months was discovering that our 2nd from the top level subscription was not enough to get me Sketchflow! This is, most decidedly, NOT SHINY, and I am borderline distraught! What are my options? Upgrading to an Ultimate subscription for Sketchflow is out of the question. Am I forced, then, to stay with Blend 3 or Purchase Blend 4 seperately? If this is not a question I should ask here please inform and I'll delete. I just tend to default to SO for all questions that Google can't answer and Google did not answer this one.

    i have this configuration a visual studio running inside virtual machine. the host machine has xp on it and so does the virtual machine. i have to run remote debug on the third machine which is connected to the host machine. i m currently facing this problem i m not able to ping my virtual machine from my host machine, however reverse is possible. how to resolve that? both my machine are on same workgroup (not domain, arent they both same?)

    A few months ago, I was working on a PHP project in Aptana Studio. It was version 1.5 or something. Later I installed Aptana 2.0 and created a new project with the same files. Back then it was UTF-8 so I chose UTF-8 for the project's text file encoding. When I make changes in any PHP file using Aptana, it gives the error: Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent... I know it's a problem related to encoding. What can I do?

    I have a property inside a class that is getting changed by something. The only place I change the value of this code is a line that looks like this: pushpin.Position.Altitude = -31; During visual studio debugging, is there a way to watch .Altitude for any changes made, preferably it breaks at the assignment statement that changes the value. I have a strange situation that's occurred with both the DataSet designer and also the L2S DBML designer where it's ignoring the DataSet.Designer.cs and has created and used a DataSet.Designer1.cs instead.
