• Force close when starting new activity

  I'm trying to launch a new activity from my main activity, but I just get error codes all the time. • JavaScript Node.replaceChild() doesn't count new child's innerHtml

  While creating a Firefox addon, I've run into a weird problem. I have an array of nodes, returned by some iterator. Iterator returns only nodes, containing Node.TEXT_NODE as one or more of it's children. The script runs on page load. I have to find some text in that nodes by regexp and surround it with a SPAN tag. //beginning skipped var node = nodeList[i]; var node_html = node.innerHTML; var node_content = node.textContent; if(node_content.length > 1){ var new_str = "<SPAN class='bar'>" + foo + "</SPAN>"; var regexp = new RegExp( foo , 'g' ); node_html = node_html.replace(regexp, new_str); node.innerHTML = node_html; } Basic version looked like this, and it worked except one issue - node.innerHTML could contain attributes, event handlers, that could also contain foo, that should not be surrounded with <span> tags. So I decided to make replacements in text nodes only. But text nodes can't contain a HTML tag, so I had to wrap them with <div>. Like this: var node = nodeList[i]; for(var j=0; j<node.childNodes.length; j++){ var child = node.childNodes[j]; var child_content = child.textContent; if(child.nodeType == Node.TEXT_NODE && child_content.length >1){ var newChild = document.createElement('div'); // var newTextNode = document.createTextNode(child_content); // newChild.appendChild(newTextNode); var new_html = child_content; var new_str = "<SPAN class='bar'>" + foo + "</SPAN>"; var regexp = new RegExp( foo , 'g' ); new_html = new_html.replace(regexp, new_str); newChild.innerHTML = new_html; alert(newChild.innerHTML); node.replaceChild(newChild, child); } } In this case, alert(newChild.innerHTML); shows right html. But after the page is rendered, all <div>s created are empty! I'm puzzled. If I uncomment this code: // var newTextNode = document.createTextNode(child_content); // newChild.appendChild(newTextNode); alert also shows things right, and <div>s are filled with text (textNode adding works ok) , but again without <span>s. And another funny thing is that I can't highlight that new <div>s' content with a mouse in browser. Looks like it doesn't take new innerHTML into account, and I can't understand why. Do I do something wrong? (I certainly do, but what? Or, is that a FF bug/feature?)

  I've just looked at the health status of my old 2,5 inch 500 Gb Fujitsu drive with a popular "HD Tune" utility. It shows a warning for the "Reallocated Event Count" property. How serious is that? The thing is that the drive is practically new. I pulled it out of a new laptop over a year ago and never used it since. Right now it only has 53 "Power On" hours which sounds about right since I only had it running a few evenings overnight before switching it for something more performant. Does this warning indicate that the drive is likely to fail some time in the future? I'm somewhat perplexed since the drive is effectively unused. What is more, I have arranged with somebody to buy off this drive since I don't really need. It is 12,5 mm thick (with 3 plates) meaning it doesn't fit into an external enclosure which makes it quite useless to me. Can I give away the drive without having it on my conscience or better cancel the deal? In other words, can the drive be used safely for years to come or better throw it away? I'm running a sector test now to see if there are any real problems. Will post the results as soon as they're available.

• IDE framework for a dynamic language?

  Let's say I have a super-wonderful new programming language, and I want there to be an IDE for it. What IDE platform/framework could I use to get this done efficiently? I mean things like: Collection of files in a project, searching them, tabbed/split editors etc. — the basics. Syntax highlighting and auto-indent/reformatting. Providing the user interface for code completion — hit tab, get a list (I'll have to implement the necessary partial evaluation myself (it's a dynamic language)). This is the feature I'm most wishing for. Built-in parser framework which is good at recovering from the sort of syntax errors occurring in code that is in the middle of being edited would be helpful. In-editor annotation of syntax/runtime error locations fed back from the language runtime. REPL (interactive evaluator) interaction with the same completion as in the editor. This system should be Linux/Mac/Windows cross-platform (in that priority order). Being implemented in Java (or rather, accepting language plugins written in Java) is possibly useful, but anything else is worth a try too.

• Android Notepadv1 Tutorial - Persistent mNoteNumber?

  So I did the Notepadv1 tutorial. It worked great. No problems. I would however like some explanation on why the mNoteNumber remembers the last number of the item I created. So the class starts as follows: public class Notepadv1 extends ListActivity { private int mNoteNumber = 1; That's fine, I understand that. The only other time the mNoteNumber variable is used is when you add an item it creates a note with that number and then increments it to the next number as follows: private void createNote() { String noteName = "Note " + mNoteNumber++; Those are the only two references to the variable mNoteNumber. When I press the Home button and then reopen the app, I add a new note but instead of adding a second "Note 1" it remembers that the last note I added as "Note 3" so it makes "Note 4". So I don't get it. Does Java/Android remember the last state of variables? If anyone could give me some explanation that would be great THANKS!

  I'm writing an ASP.net application that uses Windows Identity Foundation. My ASP.net application uses claims-based authentication with passive redirection to a security token service. This means that when a user accesses the application, they are automatically redirected to the Security Token Service where they receive a security token which identifies them to the application. In ASP.net, security tokens are stored as cookies. I want to have something the user can click on in my application that will delete the cookie and redirect them to the Security Token Service to get a new token. In short, make it easy to log out and log in as another user. I try to delete the token-containing cookie in code, but it persists somehow. How do I remove the token so that the user can log in again and get a new token?

• [WordPress] Hide Custom Fields in New Post?

  I just started out with WordPress and I'm having some problems with the custom fields. Is there any way to hide the fields to only show the "Add new custom field:" part? Thank you!

It seems to be related to the projections, but I am unsure about the best way to resolve. • Rails: savage_beast forum plugin and tinymce - new post works but edit doesn't use tinymce properly

  Hi all. I'm using the savage_beast forum plugin and tinymce (via the tinymce_hammer plugin) in my rails app. When posting a new post, tinymce works fine. However, when i go to edit a post i get the tinymce editor, but the content in the edit box has all been converted into html. Can anyone tell me how i get it so that what appears in the tinymce edit box is the original text i posted, rather than the converted-to-html version? Does it need to get converted back from html into a format tinymce will use? Savage_beast saves the original given text in a body field, and the converted-to-html text in a body_html field. After tinymce does its work in the first instance (ie when posting a new post) the body field gets text that's already been converted to html. So i guess i need to convert it back to whatever tinymce expects? I'd expect tinymce to be happy with getting html, and to just handle it, though. grateful for any advice - max

  So I've been working on trying to figure this out, oddly when I ran it one machine I got a generic Axis Fault with no description, but now on another machine I'm getting a different error message, but I'm still stuck. Basically I'm just trying to do what I thought would be a fairly trivial task of creating a new incident in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 via a web services call. I started by downloading the XML from http://hostname/MSCrmServices/2007/CrmService.asmx and generating code from it using Axis2. • TFS - Rebinding solution to new TFS when prior TFS no longer available

  The prior instance of TFS I was using is no longer available and I have a test project I want to bind to the new instance of TFS. However, when I try to add the solution to source control, the error message tells me that the collection is not available on the server. I have deleted all old source control files, and it still has the old bindings somewhere. Does anyone know how to remove ALL bindings so I can just simply start over again with a new instance of TFS?   I just started out with WordPress and I'm having some problems with the custom fields.   Hi Everyone, I am using jQGrid in my ASP.NET MVC application with add row feature. My problem is I have to save XML data in some of the row fields. But while posting the new row with some fields having plain xml, to server I get Internal server error. By default jqGrid perhaps expects json or text data to be posted on server while adding a new row. I used beforeSubmit method for workaround to convert xml first to json and then send to server, but while converting json back to xml I lose the orginal structure of the xml. FYI: I used JsonReaderWriterFactory on server to convert it back. Your help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

• Why is LOGON_USER Server Variable is blank on New Windows / New Tab?

  We are noticing some very strange behavior on an installation of a .NET2-based webapp on Server 2008. Our app uses "old school" Integrated Windows Authentication and simply reads the LOGIN_USER server variable from the request collection. There's a good reason for this, but that's somewhat irrelevant to the question, since the underlying WindowsAuthentication code from ASP.NET does the same thing. Anyway... When you enter the URL in the browser, it loads up just fine and displays the username (from LOGIN_USER) no problem. When you click on a link within the web app, it loads the page just fine and authenticates without any problems. When you "hard refresh" (Ctrl-F5) it also works just fine. However, when you click "open in a new window" or "open in a new tab", the LOGON_USER variable is blank Any ideas? Am I missing some IIS7 setting somewhere? Tested clients are Windows 7 with IE8 or Windows XP with IE6.
