  • Code Golf: Diamond Pattern

    - by LiraNuna
    The challenge The shortest code by character count to output a a pattern of diamonds according to the input. The input is composed of 3 positive numbers representing the size of the diamond and the size of the grid. A diamond is made from the ASCII characters / and \ with spaces. A diamond of size 1 is: /\ \/ The size of the grid consists from width and height of number of diamonds. Test cases Input: 1 6 2 Output: /\/\/\/\/\/\ \/\/\/\/\/\/ /\/\/\/\/\/\ \/\/\/\/\/\/ Input: 2 2 2 Output: /\ /\ / \/ \ \ /\ / \/ \/ /\ /\ / \/ \ \ /\ / \/ \/ Input 4 1 3 Output: /\ /\ /\ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \/ \/ \ \ /\ /\ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \/ \/ \/ Code count includes input/output (i.e full program).

  • Reinforcement learning And POMDP

    - by Betamoo
    I am trying to use Multi-Layer NN to implement probability function in Partially Observable Markov Process.. I thought inputs to the NN would be: current state, selected action, result state; The output is a probability in [0,1] (prob. that performing selected action on current state will lead to result state) In training, I fed the inputs stated before, into the NN, and I taught it the output=1.0 for each case that already occurred. The problem : For nearly all test case the output probability is near 0.95.. no output was under 0.9 ! Even for nearly impossible results, it gave that high prob. PS:I think this is because I taught it happened cases only, but not un-happened ones.. But I can not at each step in the episode teach it the output=0.0 for every un-happened action! Any suggestions how to over come this problem? Or may be another way to use NN or to implement prob function? Thanks

  • Delphi - COM/OLE starting example needed

    - by durumdara
    Hi! 10 years have ellapsed since I used COM/OLE, and I forget 90% of them. Now we need to make a COM object to access some data from PHP/Python (this is specific thing, the php ODBC don't access the output params of a DataBase - like stored proc output), and my idea the I realize a minimal object with one method, and PHP/Python can call this to get the output... procedure ExecSQL(Config, IP, Port, DBName, SQL, IDFieldName : variant) : output output is [IDValue, ErrorMsg, HResult] Please help me a very little example, how to start it? I need only this, but I'm confused by many ActiveX/COM in the palette. What I need to use to make a simple COM DLL, and how to register my COM object with this DLL? Thanks: dd

  • whats the diference between train, validation and test set, in neural networks?

    - by Daniel
    Im using this library http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=aMtVv4RZ to implement a learning agent. I have generated the train cases, but i dont know for sure what are the validation and test sets, the teacher says: 70% should be train cases, 10% will be test cases and the rest 20% should be validation cases. Thanks. edit i have this code, for training.. but i have no ideia when to stop training.. def train(self, train, validation, N=0.3, M=0.1): # N: learning rate # M: momentum factor accuracy = list() while(True): error = 0.0 for p in train: input, target = p self.update(input) error = error + self.backPropagate(target, N, M) print "validation" total = 0 for p in validation: input, target = p output = self.update(input) total += sum([abs(target - output) for target, output in zip(target, output)]) #calculates sum of absolute diference between target and output accuracy.append(total) print min(accuracy) print sum(accuracy[-5:])/5 #if i % 100 == 0: print 'error %-14f' % error if ? < ?: break

  • Logic differences in C and Java

    - by paragjain16
    Compile and run this code in C #include <stdio.h> int main() { int a[] = {10, 20, 30, 40, 50}; int index = 2; int i; a[index++] = index = index + 2; for(i = 0; i <= 4; i++) printf("%d\n", a[i]); } Output : 10 20 4 40 50 Now for the same logic in Java class Check { public static void main(String[] ar) { int a[] = {10, 20, 30, 40, 50}; int index = 2; a[index++] = index = index + 2; for(int i = 0; i <= 4; i++) System.out.println(a[i]); } } Output : 10 20 5 40 50 Why is there output difference in both languages, output is understandable for Java but I cannot understand output in C One more thing, if we apply the prefix ++ operator, we get the same result in both languages, why?

  • Convert args to flat list?

    - by Mark
    I know this is very similar to a few other questions, but I can't quite get this function to work correctly. def flatten(*args): return list(item for iterable in args for item in iterable) The output I'm looking for is: flatten(1) -> [1] flatten(1,[2]) -> [1, 2] flatten([1,[2]]) -> [1, 2] The current function, which I from another SO answer doesn't seem to produce correct results at all: >>> flatten([1,[2]]) [1, [2]] I wrote the following function which seems to work for 0 or 1 levels of nesting, but not deeper: def flatten(*args): output = [] for arg in args: if hasattr(arg, '__iter__'): output += arg else: output += [arg] return output

  • Using Stored Procedures in SSIS

    - by dataintegration
    The SSIS Data Flow components: the source task and the destination task are the easiest way to transfer data in SSIS. Some data transactions do not fit this model, they are procedural tasks modeled as stored procedures. In this article we show how you can call stored procedures available in RSSBus ADO.NET Providers from SSIS. In this article we will use the CreateJob and the CreateBatch stored procedures available in RSSBus ADO.NET Provider for Salesforce, but the same steps can be used to call a stored procedure in any of our data providers. Step 1: Open Visual Studio and create a new Integration Services Project. Step 2: Add a new Data Flow Task to the Control Flow window. Step 3: Open the Data Flow Task and add a Script Component to the data flow pane. A dialog box will pop-up allowing you to select the Script Component Type: pick the source type as we will be outputting columns from our stored procedure. Step 4: Double click the Script Component to open the editor. Step 5: In the "Inputs and Outputs" settings, enter all the columns you want to output to the data flow. Ensure the correct data type has been set for each output. You can check the data type by selecting the output and then changing the "DataType" property from the property editor. In our example, we'll add the column JobID of type String. Step 6: Select the "Script" option in the left-hand pane and click the "Edit Script" button. This will open a new Visual Studio window with some boiler plate code in it. Step 7: In the CreateOutputRows() function you can add code that executes the stored procedures included with the Salesforce Component. In this example we will be using the CreateJob and CreateBatch stored procedures. You can find a list of the available stored procedures along with their inputs and outputs in the product help. //Configure the connection string to your credentials String connectionString = "Offline=False;user=myusername;password=mypassword;access token=mytoken;"; using (SalesforceConnection conn = new SalesforceConnection(connectionString)) { //Create the command to call the stored procedure CreateJob SalesforceCommand cmd = new SalesforceCommand("CreateJob", conn); cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; cmd.Parameters.Add(new SalesforceParameter("ObjectName", "Contact")); cmd.Parameters.Add(new SalesforceParameter("Action", "insert")); //Execute CreateJob //CreateBatch requires JobID as input so we store this value for later SalesforceDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader(); String JobID = ""; while (rdr.Read()) { JobID = (String)rdr["JobID"]; } //Create the command for CreateBatch, for this example we are adding two new rows SalesforceCommand batCmd = new SalesforceCommand("CreateBatch", conn); batCmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; batCmd.Parameters.Add(new SalesforceParameter("JobID", JobID)); batCmd.Parameters.Add(new SalesforceParameter("Aggregate", "<Contact><Row><FirstName>Bill</FirstName>" + "<LastName>White</LastName></Row><Row><FirstName>Bob</FirstName><LastName>Black</LastName></Row></Contact>")); //Execute CreateBatch SalesforceDataReader batRdr = batCmd.ExecuteReader(); } Step 7b: If you had specified output columns earlier, you can now add data into them using the UserComponent Output0Buffer. For example, we had set an output column called JobID of type String so now we can set a value for it. We will modify the DataReader that contains the output of CreateJob like so:. while (rdr.Read()) { Output0Buffer.AddRow(); JobID = (String)rdr["JobID"]; Output0Buffer.JobID = JobID; } Step 8: Note: You will need to modify the connection string to include your credentials. Also ensure that the System.Data.RSSBus.Salesforce assembly is referenced and include the following using statements to the top of the class: using System.Data; using System.Data.RSSBus.Salesforce; Step 9: Once you are done editing your script, save it, and close the window. Click OK in the Script Transformation window to go back to the main pane. Step 10: If had any outputs from the Script Component you can use them in your data flow. For example we will use a Flat File Destination. Configure the Flat File Destination to output the results to a file, and you should see the JobId in the file. Step 11: Your project should be ready to run.

  • CTE and last known date processing

    - by stackoverflowuser
    Input @StartDate = '01/25/2010' @EndDate = '02/06/2010' I have 2 CTEs in a stored procedure as follows: with CTE_A as ( [gives output A..Shown below] ), with CTE_B as ( Here, I want to check if @StartDate is NOT in output A then replace it with the last known date. In this case, since @startdate is less than any date in output A hence @StartDate will become 02/01/2010. Also to check if @EndDate is NOT in output A then replace it with the last known date. In this case, since @enddate is 02/06/2010 hence it will be replace with 02/05/2010. // Here there is a query using @startDate and @EndDate. ) output A Name Date A 02/01/2010 B 02/01/2010 C 02/05/2010 D 02/10/2010

  • read subprocess stdout line by line

    - by Caspin
    My python script uses subprocess to call a linux utility that is very noisy. I want to store all of the output to a log file, but only show some of it to the user. I thought the following would work, but the output does show up in my application until the utility has produced a significant amount of output. #fake_utility.py, just generates lots of output over time import time i = 0 while True: print hex(i)*512 i += 1 time.sleep(0.5) #filters output import subprocess proc = subprocess.Popen(['python','fake_utility.py'],stdout.subprocess.PIPE) for line in proc.stdout: #the real code does filtering here print "test:", line.rstrip() The behavior I really want is for the filter script to print each line as it is received from the subprocess. Sorta like what tee does but with python code. What am I missing? Is this even possible?

  • Multi-argument decorators in 2.6

    - by wheaties
    Generally don't do OO-programming in Python. This project requires it and am running into a bit of trouble. Here's my scratch code for attempting to figure out where it went wrong: class trial(object): def output( func, x ): def ya( self, y ): return func( self, x ) + y return ya def f1( func ): return output( func, 1 ) @f1 def sum1( self, x ): return x which doesn't compile. I've attempted to add the @staticmethod tag to the "output" and "f1" functions but to no avail. Normally I'd do this def output( func, x ): def ya( y ): return func( x ) + y return ya def f1( func ): return output( func, 1 ) @f1 def sum1( x ): return x which does work. So how do I get this going in a class?

  • c++ / c confusion

    - by mrbuxley
    Im trying to make a small app in c++ that saves midifiles with this library. http://musicnote.sourceforge.net/docs/html/index.html The sample code that is given on the homepage looks like this. #include "MusicNoteLib.h" void main() { MusicNoteLib::Player player; // Create the Player Object player.Play("C D E F G A B"); // Play the Music Notes on the default MIDI output port } This piece of code won't compile in Visual studio 2008, I get many errors like MusicNoteLib.h(22) : error C4430: missing type specifier - int assumed. • Is a program compiled with -g gcc flag slower than the same program compiled without -g?

    - by e271p314
    I'm compiling a program with -O3 for performance and -g for debug symbols (in case of crash I can use the core dump). One thing bothers me a lot, does the -g option results in a performance penalty? When I look on the output of the compilation with and without -g, I see that the output without -g is 80% smaller than the output of the compilation with -g. If the extra space goes for the debug symbols, I don't care about it (I guess) since this part is not used during runtime. But if for each instruction in the compilation output without -g I need to do 4 more instructions in the compilation output with -g than I certainly prefer to stop using -g option even at the cost of not being able to process core dumps. How to know the size of the debug symbols section inside the program and in general does compilation with -g creates a program which runs slower than the same code compiled without -g?

  • Using adaptive step sizes with scipy.integrate.ode

    - by Mike
    The (brief) documentation for scipy.integrate.ode says that two methods (dopri5 and dop853) have stepsize control and dense output. Looking at the examples and the code itself, I can only see a very simple way to get output from an integrator. Namely, it looks like you just step the integrator forward by some fixed dt, get the function value(s) at that time, and repeat. My problem has pretty variable timescales, so I'd like to just get the values at whatever time steps it needs to evaluate to achieve the required tolerances. That is, early on, things are changing slowly, so the output time steps can be big. But as things get interesting, the output time steps have to be smaller. I don't actually want dense output at equal intervals, I just want the time steps the adaptive function uses.

  • How to write a cgi script in perl that accepts output (an image file) from a urlconnection in a Java applet and writes it to the server?

    - by Brad Rock
    I created a Java applet for my web page that creates an image file. I want users to be able to run the applet and create unique images, click a button, and have the image they created be saved to the web server. I think I have the code down for writing the image to a URLconnection in the Java applet itself after having successfully written a file while running the applet on my system rather than the web page and saving a file to the local disk, and then altering a few things to write to a URLConnection instead of to the local disk (although we shall see how that works too). I am now trying to write a cgi script in perl that takes the image output from the URLConnection and writes the image to a file on my web server (note: I am a newbie to perl). I have found many examples of how to do something similar with simple text coming from an applet and then writing it to a text file, but I want to know how to apply the same concept to an image. Particularly, how do I read in the image? I've seen text input get read by using read(STDIN, $some_variable)--does the same thing work with an image? Likewise, how do I write the image file? What function do I use? Thanks for your help. I know that I am rather naive about all of this.

  • Delphi hook to redirect to different ip

    - by Chris
    What is the best way to redirect ANY browser to a different ip for specific sites? For example if the user will type www.facebook.com in any browser he will be redirected to 127.0.0.1. Also the same should happen if he will type 66.220.146.11. What I have until now is this: using the winpkfilter I am able to intercept all the traffic on port 80, with type(in or out), source ip, destination ip and packet. My problem is to modify somehow the packet so the browser will be redirected. This is the code that i have right now: program Pass; {$APPTYPE CONSOLE} uses SysUtils, Windows, Winsock, winpkf, iphlp; var iIndex, counter : DWORD; hFilt : THANDLE; Adapts : TCP_AdapterList; AdapterMode : ADAPTER_MODE; Buffer, ParsedBuffer : INTERMEDIATE_BUFFER; ReadRequest : ETH_REQUEST; hEvent : THANDLE; hAdapter : THANDLE; pEtherHeader : TEtherHeaderPtr; pIPHeader : TIPHeaderPtr; pTcpHeader : TTCPHeaderPtr; pUdpHeader : TUDPHeaderPtr; SourceIP, DestIP : TInAddr; thePacket : PChar; f : TextFile; SourceIpString, DestinationIpString : string; SourceName, DestinationName : string; function IPAddrToName(IPAddr : string) : string; var SockAddrIn : TSockAddrIn; HostEnt : PHostEnt; WSAData : TWSAData; begin WSAStartup($101, WSAData); SockAddrIn.sin_addr.s_addr := inet_addr(PChar(IPAddr)); HostEnt := gethostbyaddr(@SockAddrIn.sin_addr.S_addr, 4, AF_INET); if HostEnt < nil then begin result := StrPas(Hostent^.h_name) end else begin result := ''; end; end; procedure ReleaseInterface(); begin // Restore default mode AdapterMode.dwFlags := 0; AdapterMode.hAdapterHandle := hAdapter; SetAdapterMode(hFilt, @AdapterMode); // Set NULL event to release previously set event object SetPacketEvent(hFilt, hAdapter, 0); // Close Event if hEvent < 0 then CloseHandle(hEvent); // Close driver object CloseFilterDriver(hFilt); // Release NDISAPI FreeNDISAPI(); end; begin // Check the number of parameters if ParamCount() < 2 then begin Writeln('Command line syntax:'); Writeln(' PassThru.exe index num'); Writeln(' index - network interface index.'); Writeln(' num - number or packets to filter'); Writeln('You can use ListAdapters to determine correct index.'); Exit; end; // Initialize NDISAPI InitNDISAPI(); // Create driver object hFilt := OpenFilterDriver('NDISRD'); if IsDriverLoaded(hFilt) then begin // Get parameters from command line iIndex := StrToInt(ParamStr(1)); counter := StrToInt(ParamStr(2)); // Set exit procedure ExitProcessProc := ReleaseInterface; // Get TCP/IP bound interfaces GetTcpipBoundAdaptersInfo(hFilt, @Adapts); // Check paramer values if iIndex > Adapts.m_nAdapterCount then begin Writeln('There is no network interface with such index on this system.'); Exit; end; hAdapter := Adapts.m_nAdapterHandle[iIndex]; AdapterMode.dwFlags := MSTCP_FLAG_SENT_TUNNEL or MSTCP_FLAG_RECV_TUNNEL; AdapterMode.hAdapterHandle := hAdapter; // Create notification event hEvent := CreateEvent(nil, TRUE, FALSE, nil); if hEvent <> 0 then if SetPacketEvent(hFilt, hAdapter, hEvent) <> 0 then begin // Initialize request ReadRequest.EthPacket.Buffer := @Buffer; ReadRequest.hAdapterHandle := hAdapter; SetAdapterMode(hFilt, @AdapterMode); counter := 0; //while counter <> 0 do while true do begin WaitForSingleObject(hEvent, INFINITE); while ReadPacket(hFilt, @ReadRequest) <> 0 do begin //dec(counter); pEtherHeader := TEtherHeaderPtr(@Buffer.m_IBuffer); if ntohs(pEtherHeader.h_proto) = ETH_P_IP then begin pIPHeader := TIPHeaderPtr(Integer(pEtherHeader) + SizeOf(TEtherHeader)); SourceIP.S_addr := pIPHeader.SourceIp; DestIP.S_addr := pIPHeader.DestIp; if pIPHeader.Protocol = IPPROTO_TCP then begin pTcpHeader := TTCPHeaderPtr(Integer(pIPHeader) + (pIPHeader.VerLen and $F) * 4); if (pTcpHeader.SourcePort = htons(80)) or (pTcpHeader.DestPort = htons(80)) then begin inc(counter); if Buffer.m_dwDeviceFlags = PACKET_FLAG_ON_SEND then Writeln(counter, ') - MSTCP --> Interface') else Writeln(counter, ') - Interface --> MSTCP'); Writeln(' Packet size = ', Buffer.m_Length); Writeln(Format(' IP %.3u.%.3u.%.3u.%.3u --> %.3u.%.3u.%.3u.%.3u PROTOCOL: %u', [byte(SourceIP.S_un_b.s_b1), byte(SourceIP.S_un_b.s_b2), byte(SourceIP.S_un_b.s_b3), byte(SourceIP.S_un_b.s_b4), byte(DestIP.S_un_b.s_b1), byte(DestIP.S_un_b.s_b2), byte(DestIP.S_un_b.s_b3), byte(DestIP.S_un_b.s_b4), byte(pIPHeader.Protocol)] )); Writeln(Format(' TCP SRC PORT: %d DST PORT: %d', [ntohs(pTcpHeader.SourcePort), ntohs(pTcpHeader.DestPort)])); //get the data thePacket := pchar(pEtherHeader) + (sizeof(TEtherHeaderPtr) + pIpHeader.VerLen * 4 + pTcpHeader.Offset * 4); { SourceIpString := IntToStr(byte(SourceIP.S_un_b.s_b1)) + '.' + IntToStr(byte(SourceIP.S_un_b.s_b2)) + '.' + IntToStr(byte(SourceIP.S_un_b.s_b3)) + '.' + IntToStr(byte(SourceIP.S_un_b.s_b4)); DestinationIpString := IntToStr(byte(DestIP.S_un_b.s_b1)) + '.' + IntToStr(byte(DestIP.S_un_b.s_b2)) + '.' + IntToStr(byte(DestIP.S_un_b.s_b3)) + '.' + IntToStr(byte(DestIP.S_un_b.s_b4)); } end; end; end; // if ntohs(pEtherHeader.h_proto) = ETH_P_RARP then // Writeln(' Reverse Addr Res packet'); // if ntohs(pEtherHeader.h_proto) = ETH_P_ARP then // Writeln(' Address Resolution packet'); //Writeln('__'); if Buffer.m_dwDeviceFlags = PACKET_FLAG_ON_SEND then // Place packet on the network interface SendPacketToAdapter(hFilt, @ReadRequest) else // Indicate packet to MSTCP SendPacketToMstcp(hFilt, @ReadRequest); { if counter = 0 then begin Writeln('Filtering complete'); readln; break; end; } end; ResetEvent(hEvent); end; end; end; end.

    I have a client and server, client sending file to server. When i transfer files on my computer(in local) everything is ok(try to sen file over 700mb). When i try to sent file use Internet to my friend in the end of sending appears error on server "Input string is not in correct format".This error appears in this expression fSize = Convert::ToUInt64(tokenes[0]); - and i don't mind wht it's appear. • UAT Testing for SOA 10G Clusters

    - by [email protected]
    A lot of customers ask how to verify their SOA clusters and make them production ready. Here is a list that I recommend using for 10G SOA Clusters. v\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} o\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} w\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} .shape {behavior:url(#default#VML);} Normal 0 false false false EN-CA X-NONE X-NONE /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin-top:0cm; mso-para-margin-right:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:10.0pt; mso-para-margin-left:0cm; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-language:EN-US;} Test cases for each component - Oracle Application Server 10G General Application Server test cases This section is going to cover very General test cases to make sure that the Application Server cluster has been set up correctly and if you can start and stop all the components in the server via opmnct and AS Console. Test Case 1 Check if you can see AS instances in the console Implementation 1. Log on to the AS Console --> check to see if you can see all the nodes in your AS cluster. You should be able to see all the Oracle AS instances that are part of the cluster. This means that the OPMN clustering worked and the AS instances successfully joined the AS cluster. Result You should be able to see if all the instances in the AS cluster are listed in the EM console. If the instances are not listed here are the files to check to see if OPMN joined the cluster properly: $ORACLE_HOME\opmn\logs{*}opmn.log*$ORACLE_HOME\opmn\logs{*}opmn.dbg* If OPMN did not join the cluster properly, please check the opmn.xml file to make sure the discovery multicast address and port are correct (see this link  for opmn documentation). Restart the whole instance using opmnctl stopall followed by opmnctl startall. Log on to AS console to see if instance is listed as part of the cluster. Test Case 2 Check to see if you can start/stop each component Implementation Check each OC4J component on each AS instanceStart each and every component through the AS console to see if they will start and stop.Do that for each and every instance. Result Each component should start and stop through the AS console. You can also verify if the component started by checking opmnctl status by logging onto each box associated with the cluster Test Case 3 Add/modify a datasource entry through AS console on a remote AS instance (not on the instance where EM is physically running) Implementation Pick an OC4J instanceCreate a new data-source through the AS consoleModify an existing data-source or connection pool (optional) Result Open $ORACLE_HOME\j2ee\<oc4j_name>\config\data-sources.xml to see if the new (and or the modified) connection details and data-source exist. If they do then the AS console has successfully updated a remote file and MBeans are communicating correctly. Test Case 4 Start and stop AS instances using opmnctl @cluster command Implementation 1. Go to $ORACLE_HOME\opmn\bin and use the opmnctl @cluster to start and stop the AS instances Result Use opmnctl @cluster status to check for start and stop statuses.  HTTP server test cases This section will deal with use cases to test HTTP server failover scenarios. In these examples the HTTP server will be talking to the BPEL console (or any other web application that the client wants), so the URL will be _http://hostname:port\BPELConsole Test Case 1  Shut down one of the HTTP servers while accessing the BPEL console and see the requested routed to the second HTTP server in the cluster Implementation Access the BPELConsoleCheck $ORACLE_HOME\Apache\Apache\logs\access_log --> check for the timestamp and the URL that was accessed by the user. Timestamp and URL would look like this 1xx.2x.2xx.xxx [24/Mar/2009:16:04:38 -0500] "GET /BPELConsole=System HTTP/1.1" 200 15 After you have figured out which HTTP server this is running on, shut down this HTTP server by using opmnctl stopproc --> this is a graceful shutdown.Access the BPELConsole again (please note that you should have a LoadBalancer in front of the HTTP server and configured the Apache Virtual Host, see EDG for steps)Check $ORACLE_HOME\Apache\Apache\logs\access_log --> check for the timestamp and the URL that was accessed by the user. Timestamp and URL would look like above Result Even though you are shutting down the HTTP server the request is routed to the surviving HTTP server, which is then able to route the request to the BPEL Console and you are able to access the console. By checking the access log file you can confirm that the request is being picked up by the surviving node. Test Case 2 Repeat the same test as above but instead of calling opmnctl stopproc, pull the network cord of one of the HTTP servers, so that the LBR routes the request to the surviving HTTP node --> this is simulating a network failure. Test Case 3 In test case 1 we have simulated a graceful shutdown, in this case we will simulate an Apache crash Implementation Use opmnctl status -l to get the PID of the HTTP server that you would like forcefully bring downOn Linux use kill -9 <PID> to kill the HTTP serverAccess the BPEL console Result As you shut down the HTTP server, OPMN will restart the HTTP server. The restart may be so quick that the LBR may still route the request to the same server. One way to check if the HTTP server restared is to check the new PID and the timestamp in the access log for the BPEL console. BPEL test cases This section is going to cover scenarios dealing with BPEL clustering using jGroups, BPEL deployment and testing related to BPEL failover. Test Case 1 Verify that jGroups has initialized correctly. There is no real testing in this use case just a visual verification by looking at log files that jGroups has initialized correctly. Check the opmn log for the BPEL container for all nodes at $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs/<group name><container name><group name>~1.log. This logfile will contain jGroups related information during startup and steady-state operation. Soon after startup you should find log entries for UDP or TCP.Example jGroups Log Entries for UDPApr 3, 2008 6:30:37 PM org.collaxa.thirdparty.jgroups.protocols.UDP createSockets ·         INFO: sockets will use interface 144.25.142.172·          ·         Apr 3, 2008 6:30:37 PM org.collaxa.thirdparty.jgroups.protocols.UDP createSockets·          ·         INFO: socket information:·          ·         local_addr=144.25.142.172:1127, mcast_addr=228.8.15.75:45788, bind_addr=/144.25.142.172, ttl=32·         sock: bound to 144.25.142.172:1127, receive buffer size=64000, send buffer size=32000·         mcast_recv_sock: bound to 144.25.142.172:45788, send buffer size=32000, receive buffer size=64000·         mcast_send_sock: bound to 144.25.142.172:1128, send buffer size=32000, receive buffer size=64000·         Apr 3, 2008 6:30:37 PM org.collaxa.thirdparty.jgroups.protocols.TP$DiagnosticsHandler bindToInterfaces·          ·         -------------------------------------------------------·          ·         GMS: address is 144.25.142.172:1127·          ------------------------------------------------------- Example jGroups Log Entries for TCPApr 3, 2008 6:23:39 PM org.collaxa.thirdparty.jgroups.blocks.ConnectionTable start ·         INFO: server socket created on 144.25.142.172:7900·          ·         Apr 3, 2008 6:23:39 PM org.collaxa.thirdparty.jgroups.protocols.TP$DiagnosticsHandler bindToInterfaces·          ·         -------------------------------------------------------·         GMS: address is 144.25.142.172:7900------------------------------------------------------- In the log below the "socket created on" indicates that the TCP socket is established on the own node at that IP address and port the "created socket to" shows that the second node has connected to the first node, matching the logfile above with the IP address and port.Apr 3, 2008 6:25:40 PM org.collaxa.thirdparty.jgroups.blocks.ConnectionTable start ·         INFO: server socket created on 144.25.142.173:7901·          ·         Apr 3, 2008 6:25:40 PM org.collaxa.thirdparty.jgroups.protocols.TP$DiagnosticsHandler bindToInterfaces·          ·         ------------------------------------------------------·         GMS: address is 144.25.142.173:7901·         -------------------------------------------------------·         Apr 3, 2008 6:25:41 PM org.collaxa.thirdparty.jgroups.blocks.ConnectionTable getConnectionINFO: created socket to 144.25.142.172:7900  Result By reviewing the log files, you can confirm if BPEL clustering at the jGroups level is working and that the jGroup channel is communicating. Test Case 2  Test connectivity between BPEL Nodes Implementation Test connections between different cluster nodes using ping, telnet, and traceroute. The presence of firewalls and number of hops between cluster nodes can affect performance as they have a tendency to take down connections after some time or simply block them.Also reference Metalink Note 413783.1: "How to Test Whether Multicast is Enabled on the Network." Result Using the above tools you can confirm if Multicast is working  and whether BPEL nodes are commnunicating. Test Case3 Test deployment of BPEL suitcase to one BPEL node.  Implementation Deploy a HelloWorrld BPEL suitcase (or any other client specific BPEL suitcase) to only one BPEL instance using ant, or JDeveloper or via the BPEL consoleLog on to the second BPEL console to check if the BPEL suitcase has been deployed Result If jGroups has been configured and communicating correctly, BPEL clustering will allow you to deploy a suitcase to a single node, and jGroups will notify the second instance of the deployment. The second BPEL instance will go to the DB and pick up the new deployment after receiving notification. The result is that the new deployment will be "deployed" to each node, by only deploying to a single BPEL instance in the BPEL cluster. Test Case 4  Test to see if the BPEL server failsover and if all asynch processes are picked up by the secondary BPEL instance Implementation Deploy a 2 Asynch process: A ParentAsynch Process which calls a ChildAsynchProcess with a variable telling it how many times to loop or how many seconds to sleepA ChildAsynchProcess that loops or sleeps or has an onAlarmMake sure that the processes are deployed to both serversShut down one BPEL serverOn the active BPEL server call ParentAsynch a few times (use the load generation page)When you have enough ParentAsynch instances shut down this BPEL instance and start the other one. Please wait till this BPEL instance shuts down fully before starting up the second one.Log on to the BPEL console and see that the instance were picked up by the second BPEL node and completed Result The BPEL instance will failover to the secondary node and complete the flow ESB test cases This section covers the use cases involved with testing an ESB cluster. • No HDMI Audio with GeForce 9600GT and nForce board

    - by Bobby
    I've been trying to get HDMI with sound working for the last few days, and I'm a little bit out of ideas. (I've verified that the hardware/Setup works via Windows.) aplay does not list my HDMI device: $ aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: ALC662 rev1 Analog [ALC662 rev1 Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 1: ALC662 rev1 Digital [ALC662 rev1 Digital] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 I've already compiled the alsa drivers (1.0.24) from a snapshot (with --with-oss=no) and added the line options snd-hda-intel model=auto # Tried 3stack-dig and 6stack-dig too to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf. Still, the device does not show up. If it is important, the HDMI TV is at the moment not configured to be part of the X session (I've tried that to, at least with X restart, and it didn't change anything). • Solving Euler Project Problem Number 1 with Microsoft Axum

    - by Jeff Ferguson
    Note: The code below applies to version 0.3 of Microsoft Axum. If you are not using this version of Axum, then your code may differ from that shown here. I have just solved Problem 1 of Project Euler using Microsoft Axum. The problem statement is as follows: If we list all the natural numbers below 10 that are multiples of 3 or 5, we get 3, 5, 6 and 9. The sum of these multiples is 23. Find the sum of all the multiples of 3 or 5 below 1000. My Axum-based solution is as follows: namespace EulerProjectProblem1{ // http://projecteuler.net/index.php?section=problems&id=1 // // If we list all the natural numbers below 10 that are multiples of 3 or 5, we get 3, 5, 6 and 9. // The sum of these multiples is 23. // Find the sum of all the multiples of 3 or 5 below 1000. channel SumOfMultiples { input int Multiple1; input int Multiple2; input int UpperBound; output int Sum; } agent SumOfMultiplesAgent : channel SumOfMultiples { public SumOfMultiplesAgent() { int Multiple1 = receive(PrimaryChannel::Multiple1); int Multiple2 = receive(PrimaryChannel::Multiple2); int UpperBound = receive(PrimaryChannel::UpperBound); int Sum = 0; for(int Index = 1; Index < UpperBound; Index++) { if((Index % Multiple1 == 0) || (Index % Multiple2 == 0)) Sum += Index; } PrimaryChannel::Sum <-- Sum; } } agent MainAgent : channel Microsoft.Axum.Application { public MainAgent() { var SumOfMultiples = SumOfMultiplesAgent.CreateInNewDomain(); SumOfMultiples::Multiple1 <-- 3; SumOfMultiples::Multiple2 <-- 5; SumOfMultiples::UpperBound <-- 1000; var Sum = receive(SumOfMultiples::Sum); System.Console.WriteLine(Sum); System.Console.ReadLine(); PrimaryChannel::ExitCode <-- 0; } }} Let’s take a look at the various parts of the code. I begin by setting up a channel called SumOfMultiples that accepts three inputs and one output. The first two of the three inputs will represent the two possible multiples, which are three and five in this case. The third input will represent the upper bound of the problem scope, which is 1000 in this case. The lone output of the channel represents the sum of all of the matching multiples: channel SumOfMultiples{ input int Multiple1; input int Multiple2; input int UpperBound; output int Sum;} I then set up an agent that uses the channel. The agent, called SumOfMultiplesAgent, received the three inputs from the channel sent to the agent, stores the results in local variables, and performs the for loop that iterates from 1 to the received upper bound. The agent keeps track of the sum in a local variable and stores the sum in the output portion of the channel: agent SumOfMultiplesAgent : channel SumOfMultiples{ public SumOfMultiplesAgent() { int Multiple1 = receive(PrimaryChannel::Multiple1); int Multiple2 = receive(PrimaryChannel::Multiple2); int UpperBound = receive(PrimaryChannel::UpperBound); int Sum = 0; for(int Index = 1; Index < UpperBound; Index++) { if((Index % Multiple1 == 0) || (Index % Multiple2 == 0)) Sum += Index; } PrimaryChannel::Sum <-- Sum; }} The application’s main agent, therefore, simply creates a new SumOfMultiplesAgent in a new domain, prepares the channel with the inputs that we need, and then receives the Sum from the output portion of the channel: agent MainAgent : channel Microsoft.Axum.Application{ public MainAgent() { var SumOfMultiples = SumOfMultiplesAgent.CreateInNewDomain(); SumOfMultiples::Multiple1 <-- 3; SumOfMultiples::Multiple2 <-- 5; SumOfMultiples::UpperBound <-- 1000; var Sum = receive(SumOfMultiples::Sum); System.Console.WriteLine(Sum); System.Console.ReadLine(); PrimaryChannel::ExitCode <-- 0; }} The result of the calculation (which, by the way, is 233,168) is sent to the console using good ol’ Console.WriteLine().

  • SSIS Technique to Remove/Skip Trailer and/or Bad Data Row in a Flat File

    - by Compudicted
    I noticed that the question on how to skip or bypass a trailer record or a badly formatted/empty row in a SSIS package keeps coming back on the MSDN SSIS Forum. I tried to figure out the reason why and after an extensive search inside the forum and outside it on the entire Web (using several search engines) I indeed found that it seems even thought there is a number of posts and articles on the topic none of them are employing the simplest and the most efficient technique. When I say efficient I mean the shortest time to solution for the fellow developers. OK, enough talk. Let’s face the problem: Typically a flat file (e.g. a comma delimited/CSV) needs to be processed (loaded into a database in most cases really). Oftentimes, such an input file is produced by some sort of an out of control, 3-rd party solution and would come in with some garbage characters and/or even malformed/miss-formatted rows. One such example could be this imaginary file: As you can see several rows have no data and there is an occasional garbage character (1, in this example on row #7). Our task is to produce a clean file that will only capture the meaningful data rows. As an aside, our output/target may be a database table, but for the purpose of this exercise we will simply re-format the source. Let’s outline our course of action to start off: Will use SSIS 2005 to create a DFT; The DFT will use a Flat File Source to our input [bad] flat file; We will use a Conditional Split to process the bad input file; and finally Dump the resulting data to a new [clean] file. Well, only four steps, let’s see if it is too much of work. 1: Start the BIDS and add a DFT to the Control Flow designer (I named it Process Dirty File DFT): 2, and 3: I had added the data viewer to just see what I am getting, alas, surprisingly the data issues were not seen it:   What really is the key in the approach it is to properly set the Conditional Split Transformation. Visually it is: and specifically its SSIS Expression LEN([After CS Column 0]) > 1 The point is to employ the right Boolean expression (yes, the Conditional Split accepts only Boolean conditions). For the sake of this post I re-named the Output Name “No Empty Rows”, but by default it will be named Case 1 (remember to drag your first column into the expression area)! You can close your Conditional Split now. The next part will be crucial – consuming the output of our Conditional Split. Last step - #4: Add a Flat File Destination or any other one you need. Click on the Conditional Split and choose the green arrow to drop onto the target. When you do so make sure you choose the No Empty Rows output and NOT the Conditional Split Default Output. Make the necessary mappings. At this point your package must look like: As the last step will run our package to examine the produced output file. F5: and… it looks great!
