  • apache eats up too much ram per child

    - by mrc4r7m4n
    Hello to everyone. I've got fallowing problem: Apache eat to many ram per child. The fallowing comments shows: cat /etc/redhat-release -- Fedora release 8 (Werewolf) free -m: total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 3566 3136 429 0 339 1907 -/+ buffers/cache: 889 2676 Swap: 4322 0 4322 I know that you will say that there is nothing to worry about because swap is not use, but i think it's not use for now. 3.httpd -v: Server version: Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) 4.httpd -l: Compiled in modules: core.c mod_authn_file.c mod_authn_default.c mod_authz_host.c mod_authz_groupfile.c mod_authz_user.c mod_authz_default.c mod_auth_basic.c mod_include.c mod_filter.c mod_log_config.c mod_env.c mod_setenvif.c mod_version.c mod_ssl.c prefork.c http_core.c mod_mime.c mod_status.c mod_autoindex.c mod_asis.c mod_cgi.c mod_negotiation.c mod_dir.c mod_actions.c mod_userdir.c mod_alias.c mod_rewrite.c mod_so.c 5.List of loaded dynamic modules: LoadModule authz_host_module modules/mod_authz_host.so LoadModule include_module modules/mod_include.so LoadModule log_config_module modules/mod_log_config.so LoadModule setenvif_module modules/mod_setenvif.so LoadModule mime_module modules/mod_mime.so LoadModule autoindex_module modules/mod_autoindex.so LoadModule vhost_alias_module modules/mod_vhost_alias.so LoadModule negotiation_module modules/mod_negotiation.so LoadModule dir_module modules/mod_dir.so LoadModule alias_module modules/mod_alias.so LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so LoadModule proxy_module modules/mod_proxy.so LoadModule cgi_module modules/mod_cgi.so 6.My prefrok directive <IfModule prefork.c> StartServers 8 MinSpareServers 5 MaxSpareServers 25 ServerLimit 80 MaxClients 80 MaxRequestsPerChild 4000 </IfModule> KeepAliveTimeout 6 MaxKeepAliveRequests 100 KeepAlive On 7.top -u apache: ctrl+ M top - 09:19:42 up 2 days, 19 min, 2 users, load average: 0.85, 0.87, 0.80 Tasks: 113 total, 1 running, 112 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie Cpu(s): 7.3%us, 15.7%sy, 0.0%ni, 75.7%id, 0.0%wa, 0.7%hi, 0.7%si, 0.0%st Mem: 3652120k total, 3149964k used, 502156k free, 348048k buffers Swap: 4425896k total, 0k used, 4425896k free, 1944952k cached PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 16956 apache 20 0 700m 135m 100m S 0.0 3.8 2:16.78 httpd 16953 apache 20 0 565m 130m 96m S 0.0 3.7 1:57.26 httpd 16957 apache 20 0 587m 129m 102m S 0.0 3.6 1:47.41 httpd 16955 apache 20 0 567m 126m 93m S 0.0 3.6 1:43.60 httpd 17494 apache 20 0 626m 125m 96m S 0.0 3.5 1:58.77 httpd 17515 apache 20 0 540m 120m 88m S 0.0 3.4 1:45.57 httpd 17516 apache 20 0 573m 120m 88m S 0.0 3.4 1:50.51 httpd 16954 apache 20 0 551m 120m 88m S 0.0 3.4 1:52.47 httpd 17493 apache 20 0 586m 120m 94m S 0.0 3.4 1:51.02 httpd 17279 apache 20 0 568m 117m 87m S 16.0 3.3 1:51.87 httpd 17302 apache 20 0 560m 116m 90m S 0.3 3.3 1:59.06 httpd 17495 apache 20 0 551m 116m 89m S 0.0 3.3 1:47.51 httpd 17277 apache 20 0 476m 114m 81m S 0.0 3.2 1:37.14 httpd 30097 apache 20 0 536m 113m 83m S 0.0 3.2 1:47.38 httpd 30112 apache 20 0 530m 112m 81m S 0.0 3.2 1:40.15 httpd 17513 apache 20 0 516m 112m 85m S 0.0 3.1 1:43.92 httpd 16958 apache 20 0 554m 111m 82m S 0.0 3.1 1:44.18 httpd 1617 apache 20 0 487m 111m 85m S 0.0 3.1 1:31.67 httpd 16952 apache 20 0 461m 107m 75m S 0.0 3.0 1:13.71 httpd 16951 apache 20 0 462m 103m 76m S 0.0 2.9 1:28.05 httpd 17278 apache 20 0 497m 103m 76m S 0.0 2.9 1:31.25 httpd 17403 apache 20 0 537m 102m 79m S 0.0 2.9 1:52.24 httpd 25081 apache 20 0 412m 101m 70m S 0.0 2.8 1:01.74 httpd I guess thats all information needed to help me solve this problem. • Bad disk performance on HP DL360 with Smarty Array P400i RAID controller

    - by sarge
I have a HP DL360 server with 4x 146GB SAS disks and a Smart Array P400i RAID controller with 256MB cache. The disks are in RAID 5 (3 disks + 1 hot spare). The server is running VMware ESX 3i. The disk write performance is really bad. Here are some numbers: ns1:~# hdparm -tT /dev/sda /dev/sda: Timing cached reads: 3364 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1685.69 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 18 MB in 3.79 seconds = 4.75 MB/sec ns1:~# time sh -c "dd if=/dev/zero of=ddfile bs=8k count=125000 && sync" 125000+0 records in 125000+0 records out 1024000000 bytes (1.0 GB) copied, 282.307 s, 3.6 MB/s real 4m52.003s user 0m2.160s sys 3m10.796s Compared to another server those number are terrible: Dell R200, 2x 500GB SATA disks, PERC raid controller (disks are mirrored). web4:~# hdparm -tT /dev/sda /dev/sda: Timing cached reads: 6584 MB in 2.00 seconds = 3297.79 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 316 MB in 3.02 seconds = 104.79 MB/sec web4:~# time sh -c "dd if=/dev/zero of=ddfile bs=8k count=125000 && sync" 125000+0 records in 125000+0 records out 1024000000 bytes (1.0 GB) copied, 35.2919 s, 29.0 MB/s real 0m36.570s user 0m0.476s sys 0m32.298s The server isn't very loaded and the VMware Infrastructure Client performance monitor is showing 550KBps average read and 1208KBps average write for the last 30 minutes (highest write rate: 6.6MBps). This has been a problem from the start. Any ideas?

  • How does a web server/the http protocol handle version control and compression?

    - by Sune Rasmussen
When a client browser requests a file from the web server, I know that some kind of check is performed, because the files needed to serve the web page may already be cached by the web browser. So, if a file exists in the cache, no files are sent. But if the file on the server has changed since the file was cached in the browser, the file is sent and updated anyhow. Then, if you have compression like gzipping enabled on the server, the files that are to be provided to the client must be gzipped on the way, requiring some amount of server side processing. But how is this managed? The logical approach seems to me, that the web server should have a cache as well, containing the newest version of all files that have been requested within a certain time span, thus a compressed version of these files, so that compression would not have to be done each time a files is requested. And also, how are files eventually requested? Does the browser ask for files, each time it encounters one in the HTML code and the specific file is not stored in the local cache, or does it sum all the files that are needed up and ask for the whole bunch at the same time? But that's only guessing from a programming point of view, and I don't really know. If the answers are very different among web server systems, I'm primarily interested in Apache, but other answers are appreciated, too.

I took the following meminfo captures. I don't figure out how the free memory went from 8GB to almost 25GB, when only about 4GB of slab was freed. There was no change of the proccess memory consumption on time the meminfo output was taken. • Conditionally changing MIME type in nginx

    - by Peter
I'm using nginx as a frontend to Rails. All pages are cached as .html files on disk, and nginx serves these files if they exist. I want to send the correct MIME type for feeds (application/rss+xml), but the way I have so far is quite ugly, and I'm wondering if there is a cleaner way. Here is my config: location ~ /feed/$ { types {} default_type application/rss+xml; root /var/www/cache/; if (-f request_filename/index.html) { rewrite (.*) $1/index.html break; } if (-f request_filename.html) { rewrite (.*) $1.html break; } if (-f request_filename) { break; } if (!-f request_filename) { proxy_pass http://mongrel; break; } } location / { root /var/www/cache/; if (-f request_filename/index.html) { rewrite (.*) $1/index.html break; } if (-f request_filename.html) { rewrite (.*) $1.html break; } if (-f request_filename) { break; } if (!-f request_filename) { proxy_pass http://mongrel; break; } } My questions: Is there a better way to change the MIME type? All cached files have .html extensions and I cannot change this. Is there a way to factor out the if conditions in /feed/$ and /? I understand that I can use include, but I'm hoping for a better way. Putting part of the config in a different file is not that readable. Can you spot any bugs in the if conditions? I'm using nginx 0.6.32 (Debian Lenny). I prefer to use the version in APT. Thanks.

  • Stop Windows Domain Environment Caching Old Passwords?

    - by Daryl Gill

The client machines have cached the old password and have the ability to bypass the new password by entering the old one..? I have noticed on my domain environment; the old Administrator password (before password expire).. The client machines have cached the old password and have the ability to bypass the new password by entering the old one..? Basically; I'm running a UAC enabled domain, which needs the administrator password to continue basic stuff; installations and such. The password for the administrator account has been changed due to expiration of said accounts password. By accident a fellow administrator typed the old password and still bypassed the UAC with what should have been the incorrect password. Is this a bug with the environment? or something that needs to be tweaked in the server sided settings? • Large mailbox in Outlook 2007 takes ages to index

    - by Reado
In our company each user has a single mailbox and all email they have ever sent/received is in that mailbox. We don't do archiving to PST and we thought that was the way forward. The problem we now have is if someone switches to another PC for the day and opens Outlook, it has to download all emails first to that PC (cached mode) but even then when they try to search for something, Outlook says items are still being indexed. One user has over 100,000 items to be indexed and it's been saying that for about a week! As a temporary workaround I have turned off instant searching which allows them to search for anything, but it takes time to filter through, and Outlook doesn't exactly indicate if it's still searching for something, so in most cases the user thinks the search isn't working when really it is and it's just taking time to populate the results. I need a solution that allows the mailbox to be indexed really quickly if the user has to login to another PC. Are we best using Online Mode instead of Cached Mode or is there another way around this? Thanks in advance.

  • APC not caching many files

    - by tetranz
Hello I have a Drupal site running on a VPS at Linode with PHP 5.2.10 and APC 3.1.6. It never caches more than about 25 files and barely uses any of its available memory. Drupal has hundreds of php files. I have another server where APC seems to work well and does indeed cache hundreds of files. The only difference with that site is that it runs Ubuntu 10.04 and php 5.3.2. The config settings are the same. What could be wrong? I'll paste the config from apc.php below. This is after hitting multiple parts of Drupal. • ajax.googleapis.com stopping my Firefox

    - by Oscar Reyes
Today for some strange reason, Firefox stops working properly because it is trying to fetch something from ajax.googleapis.com. Is there something I can do to avoid this? Safari and Chrome work just fine. I tried uninstalling Firebug and clearing the cache. The only thing that worked was disabling the JavaScript altogether. This seems to be the culprit link: http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js What can I do? EDIT I think I have found where the problem is. My proxy is serving one byte at a time the file, so firefox consume it at that peace. What I don't understand is why Safari and Chrome takes it right away. What I did last night was, leave the FF open all the night to give him change to load the file, my hope was that I got cached and the next time there was no need to go for it. Today in the morning, the page load successfully but the page was not cached, because the next request failed the same. Here's a video showing the problem:

  • SSD cache to minimize HDD spin-up time?

    - by sirprize
short version first: I'm looking for Linux compatible software which is able to transparently cache HDD writes using an SSD. However, I only want to spin up the HDD once or twice a day (to write the cached data to the HDD). The rest of the time, the HDD should not be spinning due to noise concerns. Now the longer version: I have built a completely silent computer running Xubuntu. It has a A10-6700T APU, huge fanless cooler, fanless PSU, SSD. The problem is: it also has (and needs) a noisy HDD and I want to forbid spinning it up during the night. All writes should be cached on the SSD, reads are not needed in the night. Throughout every day, this computer will automatically download about 5 GB of data which will be retained for about a year, giving a total needed disk capacity of slightly less than 2 TB. This data is currently stored on a 3 TB noisy hard disk drive which is spinning day and night. Sometimes, I'll need to access some data from several months ago. However, most times I'll only need data from the last 14 days, which would fit on the SSD. Ideally, I'd like a transparent solution (all data on one filesystem) which caches all writes to the SSD, writing to the HDD only once a day. Reads would be served by the cache if they were still on the SDD, else the HDD would have to spin up. I have tried bcache without much success (using cache_mode=writeback, writeback_running=0, writeback_delay=86400, sequential_cutoff=0, congested_write_threshold_us=0 - anything missing?) and I read about ZFS ZIL/L2ARC but I'm not sure I can achieve my goal with ZFS. Any pointers? If all else fails, I will simply use some scripts to automatically copy files over to the big drive while deleting the oldest files from the SSD.

  • Mod disk_cache permanent caching images and disabling reacurring header updates

    - by user135532
I am trying to get mod disk_cache to permantly cache images retrieved from an image server on the webserver using ProxyPass. While the image is being retrieved correctly from the server and is served from the cache on further requests, then I am still having the webserver call the image server and causing the cached header to be updated. Because of load concerns then I need to never call the image server on a specific url again after it has been cached once, or extend the refresh time for as long as possible. The webserver is IHS 7.0 The mod's are mod_disk_cache.so, mod_cache.so, mod_proxy.so Version 2.2.8.0 Following is from my httpd.conf: ProxyPass /webserver/media/images/ http://imageserver.com/ws/media/images/ # Caching pictures <IfModule mod_cache.c> <IfModule mod_disk_cache.c> CacheDefaultExpire 2628000 #CacheDisable CacheEnable disk /webserver/media/images/ CacheIgnoreCacheControl On CacheIgnoreHeaders Cookie Referer User-Agent X-Forwarded-For X-Forwarded-Host X-Forwarded-Server Accept-Language Accept Host CacheIgnoreNoLastMod On CacheIgnoreQueryString Off #CacheIgnoreURLSessionIdentifiers CacheLastModifiedFactor 10000000.1 #CacheLock on #CacheLockMaxAge 5 #CacheLockPath CacheMaxExpire 1576800 CacheStoreNoStore On CacheStorePrivate On CacheDirLength 2 CacheDirLevels 3 CacheMaxFileSize 1000000 CacheMinFileSize 1 CacheRoot c:/cacheroot2 </IfModule> </IfModule>

  • Adding new SPNs to existing service ids

    - by jmh
We have a tomcat server using spring-security kerberos to authenticate users to the webpage against active directory. There are around 25 domain controllers. The site has two CNAME based DNS aliases. The site currently has one Service ID with SPNs registered for the DNS A record as well as each of the CNAMEs. While everything is working right now, I don't know how to reliably change this configuration without possible downtime. The reason is that clients cache kerberos tickets: http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/en_US/uac4.2/topics/concept/user-role-active-directory-about.html The 'kerbtray.exe' program is helpful for viewing and deleting Kerberos tickets on the endpoint. Old tickets must be purged from the endpoint if SPNs are updated or passwords are changed (assuming the endpoint still has a cached copy of the ticket from a prior SPNEGO request to the MAG Series device. During testing, you should purge tickets before each authentication request. Description of "klist" program used to inspect/delete cached tickets: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh134826.aspx So if each of the clients (users running windows) who connect to my web server have kerberos tickets that become invalid as soon as I update the SPNs or passwords, how do I ensure changes are seamless? Are there any operations that can be done safely? I can't just ask all of the users to install klist and delete their old tickets.

  • mod_cache not working

    - by Pistos
I have a PHP site that has many dynamically generated pages. I'm trying to turn to mod_cache to help boost performance, because in most cases, content does not change in a given day. I have configured mod_cache as best I could, following examples around the web, including the mod_cache page on apache.org. When I set LogLevel debug, I see a bit of information about the caching that is [not] happening. There are plenty of pairs of lines like this: [Fri Jun 01 17:28:18 2012] [debug] mod_cache.c(141): Adding CACHE_SAVE filter for /foo/bar [Fri Jun 01 17:28:18 2012] [debug] mod_cache.c(148): Adding CACHE_REMOVE_URL filter for /foo/bar Which is fine, because I've set CacheEnable disk /foo, to indicate that I want everything under /foo cached. I'm new to mod_cache, but my understanding about these lines is that it just means that mod_cache has acknowledged that the URL is supposed to be cached, but there are supposed to be more lines indicating that it is saving the data to cache, and then later retrieving them on subsequent hits to the same URL. I can hit the same URL till I'm blue in the face, whether with F5 refreshing, or not, or with different browsers, or different computers. It's always that pair of lines that shows in the logs, and nothing else. When I set CacheEnable disk /, then I see more activity. But I don't want to cache the entire site, and there are many, many different subpaths to the site, so I don't want to have to modify code to set no-cache headers in all the necessary places. I'll mention that mod_rewrite is in use here, rewriting /foo/bar to something like index.php?baz=/foo/bar, but my understanding is that mod_cache uses the pre-rewrite URL, not the post-rewrite URL. As far as I can tell, I have the response headers not getting in the way of caching. Here's an example from one hit: Cache-Control:must-revalidate, max-age=3600 Connection:Keep-Alive Content-Encoding:gzip Content-Length:16790 Content-Type:text/html Date:Fri, 01 Jun 2012 21:43:09 GMT Expires:Fri, 1 Jun 2012 18:43:09 -0400 Keep-Alive:timeout=15, max=100 Pragma: Server:Apache Vary:Accept-Encoding mod_cache config is as follows: CacheRoot /var/cache/apache2/ CacheDirLevels 3 CacheDirLength 2 CacheEnable disk /foo What is getting in the way of mod_cache doing its job of caching?

  • BIND9 server types

    - by aGr
I was configuring DNS on my server using BIND9, everything seems to work, but I have a question regarding my config file. I've ended up with this configuration in /etc/bind/named.conf.local zone "example.com" { type master; file "/etc/bind/db.example.com"; allow-transfer { 192.168.1.1; }; }; zone "1.168.192.in-addr.arpa" { type master; notify no; file "/etc/bind/db.192"; allow-transfer { 192.168.1.1; }; }; forwarders { 10.253.22.140; 10.253.22.141; }; I've read about the different type of dns server, like primary master etc. The first two parts (zone and zone) corresponds to primary dns server configuration. First record for "classic" lookup, second one for reverse. The last part (forwarders) is configuration of cache-server and contains the ISP's IP of DNS server. So all names resolved thanks to this server will be cached. Simple question: am I right? Does my description make sense? Or one server can be only either master or either cached?

  • Nginx > Varnish > Gunicorn Error Too many Redirections

    - by kollo
    I have the following config: Nginx Varnish Gunicorn Django I want to cache 2 versions of same site (mobile & web) with Varnish. Gunicorn : WEB: gunicorn_django --bind 127.0.0.1:8181 MOBILE: gunicorn_django --bind 127.0.0.1:8182 Nginx: WEB: server { listen 80; server_name www.mysite.com; location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8282; # pass to Varnish proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header Host $host; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; } } MOBILE: server { listen 80; server_name m.mysite.com; location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8282; # pass to Varnish proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header Host $host; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; } } Varnish: default.vcl backend mobile_mysite { .host = "127.0.0.1"; .port = "8182"; } backend mysite { .host = "127.0.0.1"; .port = "8181"; } sub vcl_recv { if (req.http.host ~ "(?i)^(m.)?mysite.com$") { set req.http.host = "m.mysite.com"; set req.backend = mobile_mysite; }elsif (req.http.host ~ "(?i)^(www.)?mysite.com$") { set req.http.host = "mysite.com"; set req.backend = mysite; } if (req.url ~ ".*/static") { /* do not cache static content */ return (pass); } } The problem: On Nginx if I setup Mobile version with Varnish (port 8282) and let WEB version with Gunicorn( port 8181), MOBILE is cached by varnish, both WEB & MOBILE works but WEB is not cached. If I set the proxy_pass of WEB version to Varnish (port 8282) and restart Nginx I got an error when accessing web version (www.mysite.com) "Too many redirections" . I Think my problem come from the Varnish config file, as the site works well if I setup Nginx proxy_pass to Gunicorn ports (MOBILE & WEB).

  • HP DL185 - very slow disk read speed

    - by fistameeny
Hi, I have a HP DL185 G6 Server (12 disk model) with the following spec: Quad Core Xeon 2.27GHz 6GB RAM HP P212 RAID controller with battery backup 2 x 128GB 15K SAS 3.5" (RAID-1 for the operating system) 4 x 750GB 7.5K SAS 3.5" (RAID-5 for the data, 2TB usable space) The operating system is Ubuntu Server 9.10. Both drives have been formatted as EXT4. We are finding that read speed of the RAID-5 array is poor. Disk test results below: sudo hdparm -tT /dev/cciss/c0d1p1 /dev/cciss/c0d1p1: Timing cached reads: 15284 MB in 2.00 seconds = 7650.18 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 74 MB in 3.02 seconds = 24.53 MB/sec For info, the RAID-1 array performs as follows: sudo hdparm -tT /dev/cciss/c0d0p1 /dev/cciss/c0d0p1: Timing cached reads: 15652 MB in 2.00 seconds = 7834.26 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 492 MB in 3.01 seconds = 163.46 MB/sec We thought this was because with no battery, read/write cache is disabled. We have bought and installed the battery backup and have used the HP bootable CD to change the cache settings to 50% read / 50% write and check cache is enabled on the drives and the controller. Is there something I'm missing?

  • memory tuning with rails/unicorn running on ubuntu

    - by user970193
I am running unicorn on Ubuntu 11, Rails 3.0, and Ruby 1.8.7. It is an 8 core ec2 box, and I am running 15 workers. CPU never seems to get pinned, and I seem to be handling requests pretty nicely. My question concerns memory usage, and what concerns I should have with what I am seeing. (if any) Here is the scenario: Under constant load (about 15 reqs/sec coming in from nginx), over the course of an hour, each server in the 3 server cluster loses about 100MB / hour. This is a linear slope for about 6 hours, then it appears to level out, but still maybe appear to lose about 10MB/hour. If I drop my page caches using the linux command echo 1 /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches, the available free memory shoots back up to what it was when I started the unicorns, and the memory loss pattern begins again over the hours. Before: total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 7130244 5005376 2124868 0 113628 422856 -/+ buffers/cache: 4468892 2661352 Swap: 33554428 0 33554428 After: total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 7130244 4467144 2663100 0 228 11172 -/+ buffers/cache: 4455744 2674500 Swap: 33554428 0 33554428 My Ruby code does use memoizations and I'm assuming Ruby/Rails/Unicorn is keeping its own caches... what I'm wondering is should I be worried about this behaviour? FWIW, my Unicorn config: worker_processes 15 listen "#{CAPISTRANO_ROOT}/shared/pids/unicorn_socket", :backlog = 1024 listen 8080, :tcp_nopush = true timeout 180 pid "#{CAPISTRANO_ROOT}/shared/pids/unicorn.pid" GC.respond_to?(:copy_on_write_friendly=) and GC.copy_on_write_friendly = true before_fork do |server, worker| STDERR.puts "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX BEFORE FORK" print_gemfile_location defined?(ActiveRecord::Base) and ActiveRecord::Base.connection.disconnect! defined?(Resque) and Resque.redis.client.disconnect old_pid = "#{CAPISTRANO_ROOT}/shared/pids/unicorn.pid.oldbin" if File.exists?(old_pid) && server.pid != old_pid begin Process.kill("QUIT", File.read(old_pid).to_i) rescue Errno::ENOENT, Errno::ESRCH # already killed end end File.open("#{CAPISTRANO_ROOT}/shared/pids/unicorn.pid.ok", "w"){|f| f.print($$.to_s)} end after_fork do |server, worker| defined?(ActiveRecord::Base) and ActiveRecord::Base.establish_connection defined?(Resque) and Resque.redis.client.connect end Is there a need to experiment enforcing more stringent garbage collection using OobGC (http://unicorn.bogomips.org/Unicorn/OobGC.html)? Or is this just normal behaviour, and when/as the system needs more memory, it will empty the caches by itself, without me manually running that cache command? Basically, is this normal, expected behaviour? tia

  • How to install 64bit version of Mongodb

    - by slownage
How can I install the 64bit (x86_64) version of MongoDB? I've specified in the 10gen.repo the 64bit: baseurl=http://downloads-distro.mongodb.org/repo/redhat/os/x86_64 But when I run: yum install mongo-10gen mongo-10gen-server It's the 32bit (see the i686) that it's set to be installed. Maybe something has been cached. Could someone help me out with this.
