  • How do I add the Disqus comment system to a Rails application in a similar fashion to Wordpress?

    In Wordpress, the Disqus plugin allows you to choose to subscribe to a post via RSS or via email. Is there a pluign similar to the Wordpress plugin for Rails. Norman's Disqus plugin just uses the Disqus site to make it work. I was hoping to have things more stored locally. For an example of what I mean, take a look at this blog entry. I already know that since Rails (this application in particular) is using Authlogic (plus Facebook Connect), that Disqus cannot be too tightly coupled with the Authentication system. Has anyone ever done this or figured out a way to do this?

    I have Commenting system in my app. For a single video entry anyone can post a comment and someone else can post reply to that comment and replies, cannot have thier further reples, similar to StackOverflow is doing (1 Answer, and thier 1 or more replies). Now I want to know that there will be multiple comment and multiple add reply forms. So who clicks on which button and for which comment someone wants to post a reply, how will i know that?     VSDoc is an awesome way of commenting Javascript, and I particularly like the ability to make one Javascript file 'depend' on another. This paves the way for Javascript minifiers/combiners that take into account proper ordering of script includes. The only thing that might bother some is that it's VS-Doc. Are there any competing standards that are designed to be vendor-neutral? And how widely is the VSDoc standard used by non-Microsoft IDEs such as Eclipse, etc?

More explaination here. @author Reveller <me@localhost> @version 19:05 28-12-2008 I now have this: $text = preg_replace('/\r?\n *\* */', ' ', $text); It does the job partially: it only removes the * in front of each line. Who could help me so it also strips /** and the final slash /? Any help would be greatly appreciated! P.S: If, for instance, the commentlbock would contain something like /** * @foo Here's some slashes for ya: / and \ */ Then obviously the slashes after @foo may not be stripped. The reult would have to be: @foo Here's some slashes for ya: / and \ I hope there's a regex guru out there :-)

  • Stop doxygen (in some directories) for recursive input

    Hi everyone, I've used this tuto (http://www.duckrowing.com/2010/03/18/documenting-objective-c-with-doxygen-part-ii/) to create my documentation... I would like to run doxygen in some directories and not in others! The problem is that I don't want to reorganize all the directories! Is it possible to put a file in the directories I don't want doxygen to run into? Thanks in advance!

    I have been making a threaded comment system as a way to learn php and javascript/jquery properly. Ive done bits and bobs in the past but ive made a new years resolution to learn it properly. Im having trouble inserting a reply form into the comment tree below the comment being replied to. I know this is probably pretty basic but how do you insert html into a page when someone clicks a link.     For web applications under maintenance, assuming you have source control, when you need to remove part of the UI and the associated code, do you delete the code and check in, or do you comment out the old code? Arguments in favor of deleting: cleaner code, can still see deleted code in source control history, no worrying about refactoring code that might be uncommented some day. Arguments in favor of commenting: sometimes you need to add the feature back in and the developer adding it back in may not know to check source control history, sometimes the code represents unique functionality that can be a handy reference, seeing it all in one place can help provide clues to deciphering the active code.

  • Is it possible to register a user and submit a comment with one form with Wordpress?

    Is it possible to do both registering for an account and submit a comment at the same time? I want the user to be able to do this all on one page to ecourage the registration rather than be discouraged about typing something, not realizing they had to be registered and thus having to leave the page. I think that this could be done by adding register user action to the submit comment action, but not sure how to do it with the prebuilt wordpress add_action or do_action functions. Has anyone tried this, or know of any plug-ins that do this already? I searched but couldn't find anything helpful. Thanks.

The problem is when i submit this form to the same url that the view render the template, i have to re render the template with previusly data and then show the errors (if they are) in the form with the new renderd data, so i have to re render all the time the previusly information. I've view a lot of examples, but ALL examples have the form in an externar html(separated) How can avoid this ?
