• Checkbox alignment in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome

  Checkbox alignment with its label (i.e., vertical centering) cross different web browsers makes me crazy. Pasted below is standard html code: <label for="ch"><input id="ch" type="checkbox">My Checkbox</label> I tested different CSS tricks (e.g., link 1, link 2); most solutions works fine in FF, but are completely off in Chrome or IE8. I'm looking for any references or pointers to solve this issue. Thanks in advance. EDIT According to Elq suggestion I modified the HTML <div class="row"> <input type="checkbox" id="ch1" /> <label for="ch1">Test</label> </div> and CSS .row{ display: table-row; } label{ display: table-cell; vertical-align: middle; } Works now in Firefox, Internet Explorer 8, and Chrome on Windows. Fails on Firefox and Chrome on Linux. Also works in Firefox and Safari on Mac, but fails on Chrome.

I think the comments explain the issue. It doesn't need to be a macro but to me it just sounds like a classical "macro-needed" case. By the way, there's the BOOST_FOREACH macro/library and I think it does the exact same thing I'm trying to achieve but it's too complex for me to find the essence of what I need. • Am I using the getch() function from the ncurses library incorrectly?

  I am writing a Pacman game in c++ using the ncurses library, but I am not able to move the Pacman properly. I have used getch() to move it it up, down, left and right, but it only moves right and does not move anywhere else when I press any other key. This is a code snippet for moving up.   Say I have the following XML schema: <root> <version>2.0</version> <type>fiction</type> <chapters> <chapter>1</chapter> <title>blah blah</title> </chapter> <chapters> <chapter>2</chapter> <title>blah blah</title> </chapters> </root> Would it be possibly to parse the elements which I know will not be repeated in the XML and store them directly into the struct using LINQ?   I need to remove some malware from my computer. It is a trojan, and very annoying. It blocks access to Google and search sites.   I have programmed Qt a couple of times already and I really like the signals and slots feature. But now, I guess I'm having a problem when a signal is emitted from one thread, the corresponding slot from another thread is not fired. The connection was made in the main program. This is also my first time to use Qt for ROS which uses CMake. The signal fired by the QThread triggered their corresponding slots but the emitted signal of my class UserInput did not trigger the slot in tflistener where it supposed to. I have tried everything I can. Any help? The code is provided below. • How should I store Dynamically Changing Data into Server Cache?

  Hey all, EDIT: Purpose of this Website: Its called Utopiapimp.com. It is a third party utility for a game called utopia-game.com. The site currently has over 12k users to it an I run the site. The game is fully text based and will always remain that. Users copy and paste full pages of text from the game and paste the copied information into my site. I run a series of regular expressions against the pasted data and break it down. I then insert anywhere from 5 values to over 30 values into the DB based on that one paste. I then take those values and run queries against them to display the information back in a VERY simple and easy to understand way. The game is team based and each team has 25 users to it. So each team is a group and each row is ONE users information. The users can update all 25 rows or just one row at a time. I require storing things into cache because the site is very slow doing over 1,000 queries almost every minute. So here is the deal. Imagine I have an excel spreadsheet with 100 columns and 5000 rows. Each row has two unique identifiers. One for the row it self and one to group together 25 rows a piece. There are about 10 columns in the row that will almost never change and the other 90 columns will always be changing. We can say some will even change in a matter of seconds depending on how fast the row is updated. Rows can also be added and deleted from the group, but not from the database. The rows are taken from about 4 queries from the database to show the most recent and updated data from the database. So every time something in the database is updated, I would also like the row to be updated. If a row or a group has not been updated in 12 or so hours, it will be taken out of Cache. Once the user calls the group again via the DB queries. They will be placed into Cache. The above is what I would like. That is the wish. In Reality, I still have all the rows, but the way I store them in Cache is currently broken. I store each row in a class and the class is stored in the Server Cache via a HUGE list. When I go to update/Delete/Insert items in the list or rows, most the time it works, but sometimes it throws errors because the cache has changed. I want to be able to lock down the cache like the database throws a lock on a row more or less. I have DateTime stamps to remove things after 12 hours, but this almost always breaks because other users are updating the same 25 rows in the group or just the cache has changed. This is an example of how I add items to Cache, this one shows I only pull the 10 or so columns that very rarely change. Our intention is to use this to cover users in both Portugal AND Brazil. ie, we are not going to do separate folders mydomain.com/pt/ and mydomain.com/br/ Can I use 2 hreflang attributes for this language version to tell Google it covers Brazil AND Portugal? What country code to use for this subfolder? 2/Switzerland Does anyone have best practice advice how to do this? One one hand, the subfolder should be mydomain.com/ch/ but as Switzerland covers 2 language possibilities (French AND German) - what to do? thanks

  I already bought a domain name .com on godaddy for my company. I would like to reserve the same name with country specific domain extention, but not sure where to buy them and how to do it. Here are the ones that I would like to buy: Europe: fr, co.uk, de, ch, es, it, nl, se, no, ru australia: com.au asia: sg Godaddy has all except 1 in europe, australia and singapore. Should I find a website that sell all of them or should I buy some of them in godaddy and others elsewhere? Any suggestions where to buy them?   Hi. We are a company that is distributed in several places over Europe (real offices). Each office has its own domain. company.de company.co.uk company.ch And so. Our website servers are located in one place. We can't distribute our site to different locations. How can we create a local IP in each location to show our main server. so google will see us as local ip. Explanation: Google has decided to increase your PR if you have a local IP, they think that if you bought a server in a local market means that you are very serious about your business. We have 8 employees in each office, we cant have a separate server, is that mean that we are not serious about our business? no, this is y i need to create this illusion. Thanks

• USC gives "failed to download package files" message - how to fix?

  Trying to download a program (Advanced Settings aka Gnome Tweak tool) from USC and getting this error "Failed to Download Package Files: check your internet connection". Under details is info: Failed to fetch http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/n/network-manager/gir1.2-networkmanager-1.0_0.9.1.90-0ubuntu4_i386.deb 404 Not Found Question: how to fix? Note: I tried downloading another program from USC (GnuCash) and it worked fine. And my internet connect is working fine (able to surf the web, etc) and Ubuntu is fully up to date and is able to download updates. It seems to be a problem just getting the "Advanced Settings" program. (Ubuntu 11.10).

• Default Location of Web Site Content

  I am looking to install mediawiki on a production server (after doing a test on a development one). I could not really understand why the default location for the mediawiki files is /var/lib/mediawiki. I would have thought /var/www would've made more sense. I did some research and in http://people.canonical.com/~cjwatson/ubuntu-policy/policy.html/ch-customized-programs.html#s-web-appl it says the following Web Document Root Web Applications should try to avoid storing files in the Web Document Root. Instead they should use the /usr/share/doc/package directory for documents and register the Web Application via the doc-base package. If access to the web document root is unavoidable then use /var/www Can anyone explain why this is please?
