  • Computer generated files - how do they work ?

    Hello, .... ‹BÿЃÀ‰D$Ç„$  ....... that's what happens when you open (notepad) such a file that I'm talking about How do algorithms decode that information and when does a program use/generate it ? Does some notepad-like application exist that open such files and transform them to readable code/data ? Any more information which will clarify about these files will be very helpful.   • Getting rid of unused php files

    I'm looking into removing php files that are no longer used on my site. I can use something like get_included_files to show the included files, but that would mean I would have to put it on every child page. If I put it on a parent page, it won't show me the child page that called it. Has anybody else run into a similar situation? If so, what did you do to remove unused php files?

How do I transfer the data files from my current working environment to the devices?

    Consider the following little piece of code: // all of these include other headers, lots of code: #include "myheader1.h" #include "myheader2.h" #include <string> void foo() { string s("hello world"); // oh no, why does this compile?? } This compiles, so obviously some of the recursively included header files has a using namespace std; somewhere. How would you go about finding out where that offending line of code is? Just using grep on all header files won't really work because that statement is often used inside a function, where it is safe and won't pollute the rest of the code.

  • nginx php-fpm uploaded files have nginx ownership after executing move uploaded file

    I have a problem with php 5.3.6 using PHP-FPM and file uploads. My Nginx runs as user nginx PHP-FPM uses pools configured for each vhost. For example a user: test group : test runs one pool. When the php file uploads to temp file it is owned by user test. After move_uploaded_file is executed by php script it is owned by nginx :/. The reason for this could be the fact that the original upload file script does an exec('/usr/bin/php do_uploadedfiles.php') which does the actual moving. I do not know if the change in ownership to web server is the correct behaviour. Is there a way in PHP to change the ownership back to the user I want? Maybe make exec "run as"?

    Let's say I have 50 GiB of files that weights around 500 KiB each. My guess is that having, for example, 5 large files of 10 GiB each with the same content archived in them would be better for hard drive performance. Am I correct? Will there be a noticeable gain on an NTFS filesystem? ===================================================================== Finally, which tool could I use to group the files together while retaining the ability to modify the content of the archive with zero or minor performance loss? For example, I like TrueCrypt archiving because after mounting an archive file, it creates a drive which I can use seamlessly as if it was a normal drive. The only thing with TrueCrypt is that I don't need encryption/compression, only archiving.

  • Can access website but images, css stylesheets and javascript files do not download

    i have this problem, not sure about the source of it, Basically the title describes the issue, I can access the webpage and see the html structure, but no resources are being donwloaded nor I have access to them using the browser that means, no javascript, no css styles and no images., any solutions?, Im using tomcat by the way. EDIT 1 If I access the tomcat manager from within the server it also blocks the images. I'm running on windows server 2008 R2.

  • Problem deleting folder and files from "Program Files" folder in Win 7

    How do you delete folders and files from the "Program Files" folder in Win 7? I am trying to do this on someone else's computer and I don't know what rights their user account is. It says that I don't have permission to delete the folder. I thought it was an administrator account because when I do "Run as Administrator" for other things it doesn't ask for a password, so it must be an administrator account. Should I be able to delete a folder out of "Program Files" if the account has administrator rights? Or do I need to do something else, such as "Take Ownership" of the folder.

  • SQL Server plus small files

    I have a MSSQL server, 3 volumes, that runs some processes that seem to take way too long. One of these processes reads in a zip file, then writes to a database based on what's in the zip file.... for each record. I have 2 volumes in use and am creating the third- so I am trying to plan how to do this. OS has to remain on vol. 1. The TLogs should probably go on the new volume and the mdf's on the existing vol.2.. Do I put the file store on the volume with the MDF's so they don't interfere with the TLog writes, or with the TLogs so they don't interfere with the TLog flush to the MDFs? I know it's best to have more servers / volumes but I have to make do with whats on hand for now. I appreciate any suggestions.

  • How to version large binary files?

    I run Windows XP inside a virtual machine for some tasks. I attempted to use git to version the image for virtual box; however, it is about 6GB after all the service packs. I only have 6GB of ram and git bombs out saying it is out of memory. I would basically like to have snapshots of Windows so that I can simply blow away an image and start anew when I want to. I like to have something I can rollback to in the event that an upgrade doesn't work so I would prefer to use version control or snapshots if the filesystem supports it. Any ideas on what tools I can use to do that?

  • Splitting Multiple Files in Windows

    We have a 21TB LUN full of images that are approx 600K in size in multiple sub folders on the disk. We are trying to split the 21TB LUN into 8 smaller LUNs that are about 2.6TB a piece in order to process the images more effectively. My question is how we can determine what 2.6TB is on the drive? What is the best tool to mark this data so we can copy it to the new smaller LUNs with robocopy or emcopy without overfilling the smaller LUNs? Is there a third-party tool that would be better suited for this task? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

    In my Asterisk log file, I have a line like this (truncated): Executing [123@mycontext:1] Set("SIP/myhost-b7111840", "__INCOMINGCLI=4711") Now I want to do the following filtering while looking at the log file with tail -f: Match lines with a specific value for "INCOMINGCLI", storing the call ID (the "SIP/myhost-b7111840" part) Output all subsequent lines that contain the call ID. As a bonus, having a grep-like option like -A would be nice. I could do that easily in various programming languages, but how would I do it with standard UNIX commands like sed or awk? Can it be done with these commands?

    I'm looking for a way to copy photos that are uploaded to one folder to many other folders and visa versa. Example: a photo is uploaded to folder 1, it is then copied to folders 2-5. And if a photo is uploaded to folder 2 it is copied to folders 1 and 3-5. I'm running CentOS 5. All of these folders are on the same server. I came across another post on here that talked about incron, but that type of programming is over my head.

VNC seems to be logging some large updates I'm doing in mysql and taking up my whole hard drive space. Today we show how to get each version to be share files and printers with one another. In a perfect world, getting your computers with different Microsoft operating systems to network would be as easy as clicking a button. With the Windows 7 Homegroup feature, it’s almost that easy. However, getting all three of them to communicate with each other can be a bit of a challenge. Today we’ve put together a guide that will help you share files and printers in whatever scenario of the three versions you might encounter on your home network. Sharing Between Windows 7 and XP The most common scenario you’re probably going to run into is sharing between Windows 7 and XP.  Essentially you’ll want to make sure both machines are part of the same workgroup, set up the correct sharing settings, and making sure network discovery is enabled on Windows 7. The biggest problem you may run into is finding the correct printer drivers for both versions of Windows. Share Files and Printers Between Windows 7 & XP  Map a Network Drive Another method of sharing data between XP and Windows 7 is mapping a network drive. If you don’t need to share a printer and only want to share a drive, then you can just map an XP drive to Windows 7. Although it might sound complicated, the process is not bad. The trickiest part is making sure you add the appropriate local user. This will allow you to share the contents of an XP drive to your Windows 7 computer. Map a Network Drive from XP to Windows 7 Sharing between Vista and Windows 7 Another scenario you might run into is having to share files and printers between a Vista and Windows 7 machine. The process is a bit easier than sharing between XP and Windows 7, but takes a bit of work. The Homegroup feature isn’t compatible with Vista, so we need to go through a few different steps. Depending on what your printer is, sharing it should be easier as Vista and Windows 7 do a much better job of automatically locating the drivers. How to Share Files and Printers Between Windows 7 and Vista Sharing between Vista and XP When Windows Vista came out, hardware requirements were intensive, drivers weren’t ready, and sharing between them was complicated due to the new Vista structure. The sharing process is pretty straight-forward if you’re not using password protection…as you just need to drop what you want to share into the Vista Public folder. On the other hand, sharing with password protection becomes a bit more difficult. Basically you need to add a user and set up sharing on the XP machine. But once again, we have a complete tutorial for that situation. Share Files and Folders Between Vista and XP Machines Sharing Between Windows 7 with Homegroup If you have one or more Windows 7 machine, sharing files and devices becomes extremely easy with the Homegroup feature. It’s as simple as creating a Homegroup on on machine then joining the other to it. It allows you to stream media, control what data is shared, and can also be password protected. If you don’t want to make your Windows 7 machines part of the same Homegroup, you can still share files through the Public Folder, and setup a printer to be shared as well.   Use the Homegroup Feature in Windows 7 to Share Printers and Files Create a Homegroup & Join a New Computer To It Change which Files are Shared in a Homegroup Windows Home Server If you want an ultimate setup that creates a centralized location to share files between all systems on your home network, regardless of the operating system, then set up a Windows Home Server. It allows you to centralize your important documents and digital media files on one box and provides easy access to data and the ability to stream media to other machines on your network. Not only that, but it provides easy backup of all your machines to the server, in case disaster strikes. How to Install and Setup Windows Home Server How to Manage Shared Folders on Windows Home Server Conclusion The biggest annoyance is dealing with printers that have a different set of drivers for each OS. There is no real easy way to solve this problem. Our best advice is to try to connect it to one machine, and if the drivers won’t work, hook it up to the other computer and see if that works. Each printer manufacturer is different, and Windows doesn’t always automatically install the correct drivers for the device. We hope this guide helps you share your data between whichever Microsoft OS scenario you might run into!     I was tempted to throw in another Dora the Explorer Map reference here, but I came to my senses.Having trouble finding something? Maybe you’re just getting older? I know I am. But still, it’d be nice if my favorite database tool could help me out a bit. Hmmm, what’s this ‘Find Database Object‘ thing over here…sounds like a search mechanism of some sort? You can access this panel from the ‘View‘ menu. It’s a good bit down the screen, so I don’t blame you if you haven’t seen it before. It makes finding ‘stuff’ in your database so much easier. Let’s say I want to find my ‘beer’ objects. I simply need to type my search string and the context (in this case I want it to search EVERYTHING), and hit enter. The search results are listed below and clicking on an object automatically opens it! I know it seems very simple, but I get asked this question a LOT. It will even search through your PL/SQL code! Finding too much? Be sure to toggle off the ‘%’ wildcard check box before doing a search. Working on a Project? I bet you use common column names, or codes, throughout your tables. You could take advantage of this knowledge and use the Find Database Object panel as a substitute connection tree or schema browser. Working on your HR project and want to look at your employee objects? Do a column search for your column ID/key. Sometimes thinking outside the box actually works! Don’t be afraid to tackle a problem from a weird angle, or re-purpose your tools. I do it all the time And I drive the developers nuts trying to do things with the tools they were never designed to do. But I digress. Back to your coding!

  • XCode can't find headers in /usr/include

    Hi all, I'm trying to use standard system header files in my C++ XCode project: #include <openssl/bio.h> #include <openssl/ssl.h> #include <openssl/err.h> The build fails and it complains: "Openssl/bio.h: No such file or directory" I added /usr/include to the "Header Search Paths" in Project settings, but that doesn't fix it. I COULD fix it by adding the whole path like: #include </usr/include/openssl/bio.h> -- but the project is full of similar includes and I don't want to change all of them this way. Also, I feel I shouldn't have to do this. Another way to fix it would be as another thread mentioned, which is to add /usr/include to User Header Search Paths. But if I do that, then I'd have to change all the angle brackets < to quotes "", which again seems like a hack. I mean, these are standard system header files so I feel it should be something simple, not requiring these kinds of hacks. Any ideas? Thanks!

What I'd like to do is find all school classes belonging to a given student that meet on Monday. Now I suppose I could do something like: @student = Student.find(:student_id) @student_classes = @student.school_classes.find(:all) @student_classes_on_monday = Array.new @student_classes.each do |student_class| if student_class.day_of_week.include?("Monday") @student_classes_on_monday << student_class end end But there has to be a more elegant way. Can you help me find it?

  • UNIX find for finding file names NOT ending in specific extensions?

    Is there a simple way to recursively find all files in a directory hierarchy, that do not end in a list of extensions? E.g. all files that are not *.dll or *.exe UNIX/GNU find, powerful as it is, doesn't seem to have an exclude mode (or I'm missing it), and I've always found it hard to use regular expressions to find things that don't match a particular expression. I'm in a Windows environment (using the GnuWin32 port of most GNU tools), so I'm equally open for Windows-only solutions.

    Hi, I need to copy a /home/user folder from one hardisk to another one. It has 100000 files and around 10G size. I use cp -r /origin /destination sometines I get some errors due to broken links, permissions and so on. So I fix the error, and need to start again the copy. I wonder how could I tell the command "cp", once it tries to copy again, not to copy files again if they exist in the destination folder. Thanks

Could not find endpoint element with name 'WCFname' and contract 'WCFcontract' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. I have a VS package project that needs to connect to a WCF service that provides some functionality. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this name could be found in the client element. My guess is that it's taking the configuration file for Visual Studio (since it is running VS experimental mode). So yeah...why isn't it recognizing the app.config file and how could I make the application to recognize it? Any help would be very welcomed as I have already tried to fix this for some time.   • Java Can't Find File when Running through Eclipse

    When I run a Java application that should be reading from a file in Eclipse, I get a java.io.FileNotFoundException, even though the file is in the correct directory. I can compile and run the application from the command line just fine; the problem only occurs in Eclipse, with more than one project and application. Is there a setting I need to change in the run configurations or build paths to get it to find the file correctly?
