  • Firefox not using Kerberos despite being configured to

    I am deploying Linux/Firefox on a corporate Kerberos network. I followed this Kerberos-on-Firefox procedure but still Firefox does not connect via the company's Kerberos. I am using Firefox 3.0.18 on RedHat EL Server 5.5 Here is what I did: Run kinit on the command line to create a Kerberos ticket Check with klist: the ticket is valid until tomorrow, service principal is krbtgt/[email protected]. In Firefox, set network.negotiate-auth.trusted-uris and network.negotiate-auth.delegation-uris to .dc.thecompany.com. Load the company's portal page via its full hostname: http://server37.thecompany.com/alfresco. (note: server37 is actually the machine I am running Firefox on, but that should not be a problem I guess) PROBLEM: the company's intranet portal still serves me the login/password page. The same portal correctly uses Kerberos on Internet Explorer/Windows 7 machines, same settings, and shows the user's personal page. The server does not see any Kerberos request coming. Did I do something wrong? I enabled NSPR_LOG_MODULES=negotiateauth:5 as explained here, but the log file stays empty.

And we already have one virtual lan adapter in guest os, (say adapter 3) . adapter 1 is connected to internet with defaulty gateway say, 192.168.0.254 and uses class C IP. By con configuring adapter 2 and 3, I need to acheive two purpose - Access internet in guest os. seemlessly share files & folders between guest and host OS. Please, suggest, What is the best way to configure IP of these three adapters ?

    I am working on a simple Firefox Extension, and I need a list of the user's bookmarks. I have found the nsINavBookmarksService class which appears to be the recommended way of manipulating bookmarks since Firefox 3.0. Strangely I don't see a method that I could use to get a list of all the bookmarks in a folder. I need some way of creating a flat list of all the Bookmark URIs, but without any methods that return information about more than one bookmark I don't see a way to do it.

    When you’re sharing stuff back and forth between your computers, the names of those computers actually start to matter — in my case, I upgraded to a new MacBook Air because my old one has a dead screen and is out of warranty, so I made it into a desktop with an external monitor. That’s when I got an error that my two Macs had the same name. Oops! Luckily it’s an extremely easy fix. Just open up System Preferences, go to Sharing, and change the computer name. Done! You can also change it from the Terminal using this command, though obviously it’s much simpler to just change it under Sharing.

With Pale Moon when I hover over a link URL is shown in the status bar URL is shown instantly Entire width of status bar is allowed for URL, if necessary With Firefox when I hover over a link URL is shown in a tooltip in lower left corner URL is shown after intentional delay Only half the browser window width is allowed for URL Is there a way to make Firefox behave more like Pale Moon? No Status-4-Evar answers I realize Status-4-Evar might be the best solution here but I wish to see what, if any other options are out there. I will also accept well thought out and referenced answers as to why the Firefox way is "better".

  • Sync iCloud bookmarks with Firefox in Windows 7

    I have four devices that I want to sync my bookmarks across: a Mac Mini, a Macbook Air, an iPad2, and a Windows 7 PC. I use Safari on the three Apple products and Firefox 8 on the Windows 7 PC. I use iCloud to sync my bookmarks with the three Apple devices, but this obviously leaves my Windows PC out of the loop. I realize that I can sync the bookmarks to IE and then constantly export them and import them into Firefox, but this is both clunky and not really a "sync" since things that I bookmark on my PC in Firefox won't show up on my other devices. What is the best way to sync my bookmarks from iCloud with a PC running Firefox 8?

    Win7 Home Prem 32bit Firefox 3.6.2 I noticed whilst typing a hotmail email in Firefox that the default language seems to be English/United States. As i am from the UK i thought i would add in the English/United Kingdom dictionary Addon which i have done. I have set this as the default Language. Is there anyway to remove the English/United States Dictionary? It is not an Addon so i'm guessing it's the built in Firefox default language and may be unremovable?

    How do I remove the English (United States) dictionary from Firefox? It's not an add-on so I'm guessing it's built into Firefox by default. Maybe that makes it unremovable? I noticed whilst typing a Hotmail email in Firefox that the default language seems to be English/United States. As I am from the UK I thought I would add in the English/United Kingdom dictionary, which I have. This is now the default language and I don't need the US dictionary. Firefox 3.6.2 on Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit.

    What is the "box mode" (for a lack of a better word) in Firefox? How can I exit it again? If I hold down the Ctrl key and left click while the cursor is over some element on a page it becomes boxed: Firefox seems to go into some special mode. What is this mode for? How can I go back to normal mode? Installed add-ons in Firefox: BetterPrivacy 1.29, NoScript 1.9.0.6 and SQLite Manager 0.4.7. (Microsoft .NET Framework Assistent 1.0 is disabled.) Platform: Firefox 3.0.6, Windows XP 64 bit SP2, 8 GB RAM.

  • Open MS Office templates with Firefox ?

    Hello Guys; I've a problem with Firefox or MS Office maybe both of them. Our firm has an Intranet and publishes some documents via Intra. MS Office 2007 is used to create document templates and stored as "file://depo/ISO9001//Form/_Form.xlt, _Form.dot" in the server. Unfortunately Firefox can't open these templates or downloads over Intra. Is there any solution to this issue? I don't want to use Firefox after IE after Firefox. Many thanks and any help will be appreciated.

  • Start multiple instances of Firefox; Xephyr rootless mode

    How can I have multiple independent instances of Mozilla Firefox 3.5 on the same X server, but started from different user accounts (consequently, different profiles)? Limited success was only with Xephyr :1, DISPLAY=:1 /usr/local/bin/firefox, but Xephyr has no Cygwin/X's "rootless" mode so it's not comfortable. The idea is to have one Firefox instance for various "Serious Business" things and the other for regular browsing with dozens of add-ons securely isolated.

  • Firefox 4 refreshes all tabs although no internet connection exists

    I have a problem since I updated to Firefox 4. With Firefox 3.x I could start it without a internet connection and almost all of my open tabs were still loaded. With this I was able to read my open sites in the train where I have no internet connection. This does not work in Firefox 4. If I launch Firefox 4 I see all my open tabs but the content is not available. It seems that the new version tries to refresh all tabs on startup. Is there a possibility to disable this behaviour?     I use the master password feature of Firefox, and I also use SSH keys to login to a bunch of UNIX machines. For SSH, there is a very useful application called ssh-agent that runs in the background knowing the required information about unlocking the key so you don't have to type the question every single time you want to connect. I open and close Firefox a lot, so I was curious, is there a way to have Firefox run in the background (preferrably doing nothing, but the whole process would be fine I guess as well) so that I don't have to type my master password every single time I open Firefox?     I've had a Dell Latitude laptop since about 2000 without managing to destroy it. A month ago the Windows 2000 system on it did something stupid to its file system and Windows was completely lost. No point in reinstalling Windows 2000, so I installed an Ubuntu Linux on the laptop. Everything seems normal (installed, rebooted, I can log in, run GnuChess, poke about). ... but ... when I attempt to launch Firefox from the top bar menu icon, I get a bunch of disk activity, the whirling cursor icon goes round a bit and then everything stops: disk, icon, mouse. Literally nothing happens for 5 minutes. Ubuntu is dead, as far as I can tell. A reboot, and I can repeat this reliably. So on the face of it, everything works but Firefox. That seems really strange. The only odd thing about this system when Firefox is booting is that while it has an Ethernet port (that worked fine under Windows), it isn't actually plugged into an Ethernet. As this is the first Firefox boot since the Ubuntu install, maybe Firefox mishandles Internet access? Why would that crash Ubuntu? (I need to go try the obvious experiment of plugging it in).

    hi all, i've been struggling with this for a while now: i can't install greasemonkey on my firefox portable 3.5.5 :( it must be something with the latest update to 3.5.5. (i'm having win7 x64 ultimate) upgrading greasemonkey didn't work so i completely de-installed it and then tried (no success): installing greasemonkey via addons-dialog installing .xpi manually installing with "restart firefox" button installing by quitting + restarting firefox it simply just won't install / show up under addons. of course i de-activated all other plugins and started firefox as administrator. any ideas? thx

  • Allow opening a new tab with Ctrl+T on all websites in Firefox

    In Firefox, certain websites and plugins (Adobe PDF Plugin) appear to "capture" the Control key, so that when I try to open a new tab using "Ctrl+t", nothing happens - or worse, something unexpected happens. Examples: On the Codecademy site, while editing code, Ctrl+T either does nothing, or (when Flash is disabled) switches the position of the two characters next to the cursor. When viewing PDF's with the Adobe PDF Plugin, Ctrl+T does nothing. Is there a way to disable this "feature"? I would like "Ctrl+t" to always "talk" to Firefox! Edit: After searching superuser deeper, this question is very similar to the questions: "How to prevent keystroke grabbing/hijacking by websites in Firefox?" "How do I prevent pages I visit from overriding selected Firefox shortcut keys?". The answers to these questions are interesting and relevant, but do not give a method on how to disable combinatinos such as "Ctrl+t". Maybe a modified Greasemonkey script is the easiest solultion. Edit 2 - Attempt at a solution The following UserScript (Use GreaseMonkey to install it) successfully captures Ctrl+t on some sites (Google Search site, for instance - PopUp "Gotcha" appears), but not on the Codecademy site. I found another question pertaining to this subject here: "How to forbid keyboard shortcut stealing by websites in Firefox".
