• How to enable i18n from within setup_app in websetup.py ? (formatted resend)

  From within the setup_app function (websetup.py) of a pylons i18n application, which is making use of a db, I was trying to initiate multilingual content to be inserted into the db. To do so the idea was something like: #necessary imports here def setup_app(command, conf, vars): .... for lang in langs: set_lang(lang) content=model.Content() content.content=_('content') Session.add(content) Session.commit() Unfortunately it seems that it doesn't work. the set_lang code line is firing an exception as follows: File ".. i18n/translation.py", line 179, in set_lang translator = _get_translator(lang, **kwargs) File ".. i18n/translation.py", line 160, in _get_translator localedir = os.path.join(rootdir, 'i18n') File ".. /posixpath.py", line 67, in join elif path == '' or path.endswith('/'): AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'endswith' Actually I'm even not sure it could be possible launching i18n mechanisms from within this setup_app function without an active request object. Anyone has tried some trick on a similar story ?

• How to fire off a asych thread in a web application, and gaurantee only 1 thread fires?

  I want to cache a object in memory. Regenerating the object when the cache expires is fairly expensive, so I want to do the following: When the cache is "about" to expire, I want to fire off a asychronous thread that will go and rebuild the object and then reset the cache. One thing I am worry about is multiple threads firing to fetch the object to cache, I only want a single thread doing this, realizing many people will be hitting the website. This might not be the best use case to do this, but I want to know how to do this sort of thing.

• How can I tell what events fire from GXT?

  I cannot seem to find any documentation of what events fire and when in GXT. The API docs have lists of all the events that could fire (in Events). And it describes how to handle events that you catch. But I'm interested in the opposite side, which events are fired when I take a certain action. I can set some listeners for various different components, or I can use addListener with a specific event code to catch individual events. That's spotty, and I seem to be using trial-and-error to guess what I might want to catch. Is there a way to log all the events that are firing? Or catch all of them so I could look at them in a debugger? Or is there some documentation I am missing that has the information? Something along the lines of "when you click on a widget, a ButtonEvent is fired. Events.x is fired on the hover, Events.y on the click."

• jQuery .toggle() called by window.setInterval() not functioning

  I am trying to alternate between two logos every 5 seconds using the following code: window.setInterval( function () { //breakpoint 1 $("#logo").toggle( function() { //breakpoint 2 $(this).attr('src', '/Images/logo1.png'); }, function() { //breakpoint 3 $(this).attr('src', '/Images/logo2.png'); } ); }, 5000 ); I can get a simple toggle to work, but when I introduce the toggle within window.setInterval(), the toggle's two handlers won't fire. I set breakpoints on the lines directly beneath the comments in the code above. Breakpoint 1 hits every 5 seconds. However, Breakpoint 2 and 3 never hit. Why are neither of the toggle function's handlers firing?

  UPDATE: My model going into the save method is PartialViewModel, which in the save method, is pushed into the index's ContactViewModel and sent back. This wasn't clear. I am playing around with MVC3, and have a contact controller with a SaveDetails action. The index cshtml has a partial with a form whose action is pointing to this controller. When I submit the form not having completed it fully, thereby firing the validation, the url now contains the SaveDetails action name (http://localhost:7401/Contact/SaveDetails). The form code is: @using (Html.BeginForm("SaveDetails", "Contact")) { ... } The controller action looks like this: public ActionResult SaveDetails(Models.PartialsViewModel pvm) { return View("Index", new ContactViewModel{ PartialsViewModel = pvm } ); } What am I doing wrong?

• messages stuck permanently in session

  I am getting Drupal messages stuck permanently in session, so that after being displayed they are not cleared. The unsetting code in function drupal_get_messages in bootstrap.inc is firing - It's as if the session is sleeping (i.e. serializing to disk) before the messages array is cleared. Have you witnessed such a thing? UPDATE The call that commits the session starts from drupal_page_footer at the bottom of index.php - for some reason this is executing twice per request! once with the emptied messages and then again with the messages back in the array.

Is this an issue with Twisted or does this make sense in some way?

  OK 1ST SOME BACKGROUND - I have a page showing the number of hits(or views) of any selected item. The hit counter procedure that is called at every page load i.e if (Request.QueryString.HasKeys()) { // get item id from icoming url e.g details.aspx?itemid=26 string itemid = Request.Params["itemid"]; if (!Page.IsPostBack) { countHit(itemid); } } THE PROBLEM - My expectation was that the counter would be increased by 1 on every page load but the counters on my datalist and formview are always behind and stepped by 2 i.e instead of 1, 2, 3, 4 its - 0, 2 , 4, 6 It seems that the page load is firing twice. Later I discovered that this only happens when you are using Mozilla Firefox. The page behaves fine with other browsers like IE This becoming quite frustrating. CAN ANY1 HELP :-(

I added a unique class to the labels before applying the button set and have set a click event on it. It fires fine, however it is firing before the jqueryui has processed the click so the result is out of date.   Hello, we have application where database contains large parts of business logic in triggers, with a update subsequently firing triggers on several other tables. I want to refactor the mess and wanted to start by extracting procedures from triggers, but can't find any reliable tool to do this. Using "Extract procedure" in both SQL Developer and Toad failed to properly handle :new and :old trigger variables. If you had similar problem with triggers, did you find a way around it? EDIT: Ideally, only columns that are referenced by extracted code would be sent as in/out parameters, like: Example of original code to be extracted from trigger: ..... if :new.col1 = some_var then :new.col1 := :old.col1 end if ..... would become : procedure proc(in old_col1 varchar2, in out new_col1 varchar2, some_var varchar2) is begin if new_col1 = some_var then new_col1 := old_col1 end if; end; ...... proc(:old.col1,:new.col1, some_var);

• Neo4j+Gremlin : Trouble with T.gte and floating point node attributes

  For a type of nodes in my graph, attribute values for an attribute(named 'some_count') is either missing or an integer or a float. I'm trying to write gremlin to filter these nodes based on minimum value for this attribute. I first verified that the values are indeed present by firing the following gremlin g.v(XXX)._().in('category').hasNot('some_count', T.eq, null).back(1).some_count Next, I tried filtering by exact value and that works and show me the matching nodes or gives an empty array if there is no match g.v(XXX)._().in('category').hasNot('some_count', T.eq, null).back(1).has('some_count', T.eq, 120000.0d) But the following query that uses the 'greater than or equal to' comparator doesn't work. g.v(XXX)._().in('category').hasNot('some_count', T.eq, null).back(1).has('some_count', T.gte, 1.0d) this returns nil (I'm querying via ruby/rails using Neo4j AR Adapter ) Instead of returning an empty array for no match, it returns a nil, which tells me something could be wrong with the query itself. I'm running neo4j community server 1.8. Is there a way I can ask Neo4j to log errors/queries, to see what could be going wrong ?

• How do I generate optimized SQL with my (added) partial methods on LINQ entities

  Let's say I have a Person table with a FirstName and LastName column. I extended the Person LINQ entity class with a get property "FullName", that concatenates the first and last names. A LINQ query like: from person... select fullName where id = x generates SQL selecting all Patient columns, since FullName is evaluated after firing the query. I would like to limit the select clause to only the 2 columns required. This is a simple example, but the limitation it shows is that I cannot isolate my business/formatting rules but have to embed them in the LINQ query, so they're not reusable (since it is in the select part) or I need select both columns separately, and then concatenate them higher up in the data or business layer with static helper methods. Any ideas for a clean design using the entity partial classes or extensions? Thanks

• LoadViewState not fired on my user control

  I have a user control nested in a repeater. Inside my user control I have another repeater and in that I have a panel. I am trying to override the LoadViewState event of my user control and dynamically add controls to the panel. I want to do it in the LoadViewState so that the dynamic controls get added before the viewstate gets loaded, so they retain their values after post backs. For some reason the LoadViewState event on the user control (ascx) is not firing. Is there some way to force it to fire, or is there another method I could use? I have ruled out the user controls repeater databind event, because I need it to work even if data binding isn't happening and I can't do it on the repeaters item created event either because the child panel and inner html doesn't exist yet.

• Transform LINQ Dataset into a Matrix for export

  Hi folks, I've got a data table with columns in which include Item, Category and Value (and others, but those are the only relevant ones for this problem) that I access via LINQ in a C# ASP.Net MVC app. I want to transform these into a matrix and output that as a CSV file to pull into Excel as matrix with the items down the side, the categories across the top and the values in the row cells. However, I don't know how many, or what, categories there will be in this table, nor will there always be a record for each item/category combination. I've written this by looping round, getting my "master category" list, then looking again for each item, filling in either blank or Value, depending on whether the item/category record exists, but as there are currently 27000 records in the table, this isn't as fast as I'd like. Is there a slicker and faster way I can do this, maybe via LINQ (firing into a quicker SQL statement so the DB server can do the leg-work), or will any method essentially come back to what I am doing?   From a M$ development perspective, using things like vs.net/c#/asp.net/asp.net mvc/sql server, things are pretty much smooth. (Obviously for someone coming from a microsoft background like me). Now I love the idea of open source, linux and terminal servering into the computer and doing things via the command line, no license issues really, etc. I've tried firing up eclipse etc., but I always seem to get stuck on some configuration issue or another. Does it get easier or is it just the territory when you are dealing with the java stack?

  I am using this library that allows you to create a more elegant alert box (you can even use images!); I used it with a click function and it works! A nice container opens with a close button, GREAT! I noticed if you happen to click more than once on the link you assigned, it keeps firing. So multiple images begin to propagate. I used the unbind method, but it cancels the link permanently (until refresh etc.). I was surprised to see the library doesn't compensate for this little problem, so I am wondering if you could rebind the click when you close the image window so it starts from the beginning. $(".shopFrag").click(function(){ Messi.img("_images/wishlist.jpg"); $(".shopFrag").unbind('click'); });

  Does anyone know of a good online compiler/runtime (for C++, Java, Python, ObjC etc.) that I can access on the web? What I'm looking for is something that would allow me to type in a program in a web form and to run the program and see the results online. (Let's not get into the why for now. Suffice it to say for the moment that I don't always have access to a compiler/runtime, and firing up an IDE is just overkill for testing out some code snippets) I know of codepad.org -- but I'm looking for something better.
