  • IIRF - Redirecting all traffic to the http equivalent

    - by GordonB
I'm using IIRF and having some trouble getting it to redirect all traffic to the secure version of my sites. So... I have a website with about 20 apps in virtual directories in IIS6. The website takes 80 and 443 traffic. I want to use IIRF to redirect all port 80 traffic EG; http://myserver/app1/page1/param1 http://myserver/app2/ http://myserver To the secure equivalent (https). Here's my config so far; # Iirf.ini # # ini file for IIRF # RewriteLogLevel 1 RewriteLog D:\Websites\Apptemetry\IirfLogs RewriteEngine ON StatusInquiry ON IterationLimit 5 RewriteLogLevel 3 RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} ^80$ RedirectRule ^http(.*)$ https$1 Can anyone advise the correct configuration to use, to redirect all traffic?

  • Restrict Apache to only allow access using SSL for some directories

    - by DrStalker
I have an Apache 2.2 server with an SSL certificate hosting several services that should be only access using SSL. ie: https://myserver.com/topsecret/ should be allowed while http://myserver.com/topsecret/ should be either denied or, ideally, redirected to https. http://myserver.com/public should not have this restriction, and should work using either http or https. The decision to allow/deny http is made at the top level directory, and affects all content underneath it. Is there a directive that can be placed in the Apache config to retrict access in this manner?

  • Apache works on http and https, SVN only on http

    - by user27880
I asked a question about this before, and got most of it fixed. If I switch off https redirect and go to http://mydomain.com/svn/test0, I get the authentication window popping up, and I can enter my AD credentials, and bingo. Switching https redirect back on, if I go to http://mydomain.com I am automatically redirected to https, which is what I want, and the 'CerntOS test page' pops up. Perfect. The problem occurs when I want to go to one of my test repos via https. Here is my httpd.conf file, with confidential information suitably hosed... === NameVirtualHost *:80 <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName svn.mycompany.com ErrorLog logs/subversion-error_log CustomLog logs/subversion-access_log common Redirect permanent / https://svn.mycompany.com </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost svn.mycompany.com:443> SSLEngine On SSLCertificateFile /etc/httpd/ssl/wildcard.mycompany.com.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/httpd/ssl/wildcard.mycompany.com.key SSLCertificateChainFile /etc/httpd/ssl/intermediate.crt ServerName svn.mycompany.com ServerAdmin [email protected] ErrorLog logs/subversion-error_log CustomLog logs/subversion-access_log common <Location /svn> DAV svn SVNParentPath /usr/local/subversion SVNListParentPath off AuthName "Subversion Repositories" # NT Logon Details Require valid-user AuthBasicProvider file ldap AuthType Basic AuthzLDAPAuthoritative off AuthUserFile /etc/httpd/conf/svnpasswd AuthName "Subversion Server II" AuthLDAPURL "ldap://our-pdc:389/OU=Company Name,DC=com,DC=co,DC=uk?sAMAccountName?sub?(objectClass=*)" AuthLDAPBindDN "DOMAIN\subversion" AuthLDAPBindPassword XXXXXXX AuthzSVNAccessFile /etc/httpd/conf/svnaccessfile </Location> </VirtualHost> === Now, in ssl_error_log, I get === ==> /etc/httpd/logs/ssl_error_log <== [Fri Nov 01 16:07:55 2013] [error] [client XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX] File does not exist: /var/www/html/svn === This comes from the DocumentRoot directive further up the httpd.conf file, which of course points to /var/www/html. I know that this location is wrong, but how can I get SVN to serve the repo? I tried an Alias directive as so .. Alias /svn /usr/local/subversion .. but this didn't work. I tried to alter the Location directive. That didn't work either. Can someone help? I sense that this is so close to being solved ... Thanks. • nginx proxypath https redirects to http

    - by Thermionix
    I'm trying to setup Nginx to forward requests to several backend services using proxy_pass however several pages load with 404s The links on the pages have https:// in front, but result in a http request - which ends in a 404 - I only want these services to be available through https. I've tried with varied trailing forward slashes appended to the proxypath and location in proxy.conf, I've also tried commenting out www.conf (just incase its location blocks could have caused any conflicts) to no effect. So if a link is too https://example.com/sickbeard/errorlogs in a browser when loaded https://example.com/sickbeard/errorlogs gives a 404 in a browser https://example.com/sickbeard/errorlogs/ loads nginx error log; 2011/11/23 14:21:58 [error] 28882#0: *6 "/var/www/sickbeard/errorlogs/recent.html" is not found (2: No such file or directory), client: 192.168.1.99, server: example.com, request: "GET /sickbeard/errorlogs/ HTTP/1.1", host: "example.com" Config files; proxy.conf location /sickbeard { proxy_pass http://localhost:8081/sickbeard; include proxy.inc; } .... more entries .... sites-enabled/main server { listen 80; include www.conf; } server { listen 443; include proxy.conf; include www.conf; ssl on; } www.conf root /var/www; server_name example.com; location / { autoindex off; allow all; rewrite ^/$ /mainsite last; location ~* \.(jpg|jpeg|gif|css|png|js|ico)$ { expires max; } location ~ \.php$ { fastcgi_index index.php; include fastcgi_params; if (-f $request_filename) { fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; } } } proxy.inc proxy_connect_timeout 59s; proxy_send_timeout 600; proxy_read_timeout 600; proxy_buffer_size 64k; proxy_buffers 16 32k; proxy_pass_header Set-Cookie; proxy_redirect off; proxy_hide_header Vary; proxy_busy_buffers_size 64k; proxy_temp_file_write_size 64k; proxy_set_header Accept-Encoding ''; proxy_ignore_headers Cache-Control Expires; proxy_set_header Referer $http_referer; proxy_set_header Host $host; proxy_set_header Cookie $http_cookie; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Host $host; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Server $host; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;

  • How to verify the SSL connection when calling an URI?

    - by robertokl
Hello, I am developing an web application that is authenticated using CAS (A single-sign-on solution: http://www.ja-sig.org/wiki/display/CAS/Home). For security reasons, I need two things to work: The communication between CAS and my application needs to be secure My application needs to accept the certification coming with CAS, so that I can guarantee that the CAS responding is the real CAS Server. This is what I got so far: uri = URI.parse("https://www.google.com/accounts") https = Net::HTTP.new(uri.host, uri.port) https.use_ssl = (uri.scheme == 'https') https.verify_mode = (OpenSSL::SSL::VERIFY_PEER) raw_res = https.start do |conn| conn.get("#{uri.path}?#{uri.query}") end This works just great in my Mac OSX. When I try to reach an insecure uri, it raises an exception, and when I try to reach a secure uri, it allow me normally, just like expected. The problem starts when I deploy my application on my Linux server. I tried in both Ubuntu and Red Hat. Independing of what uri I try to reach, it always raises me this exception: OpenSSL::SSL::SSLError: SSL_connect returned=1 errno=0 state=SSLv3 read server certificate B: certificate verify failed from /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:586:in `connect' from /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:586:in `connect' from /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:553:in `do_start' from /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:542:in `start' from (irb):7 I think this have something to do with my installed OpenSSL package, but I can't be sure. This are my installed OpenSSL packages: openssl.x86_64 0.9.8e-12.el5 installed openssl-devel.x86_64 0.9.8e-12.el5 installed I tried using HTTParty as well, but it just ignores the SSL certificated. I hope someone can help me, either by telling me a gem that works the way I need. Thanks.

  • Jquery 'permission denied' error for JSON call between HTTP and HTTPS

    - by Murali B
Hi, I have a login control on my homepage (http://www.xyz.com) which makes a JSON login request over HTTPS (https://www.xyz.com/json.ashx). This seems to work fine in Firefox and IE7. But IE8 gives a 'permission denied' error for jquery.min.js I have verified that this call works fine if its solely over http or https. Is the call considered 'cross-domain' if it is between the http and https sections of the site? How can I resolve this problem? Thanks, Murali

  • Disable Google Chrome warning if security certificate is not trusted

    - by sippa
Hi, I want to know if it's possible to disable the warning you get in Chrome when you try to go to some HTTPS site that doesn't have a trusted certificate. I have a few sites in my bookmarks that use HTTPS but none of them have trusted certificates, so each time I visit them I manually have to click "Proceed anyway" in the warning and it's getting kind of annoying. Is there any way to disable the warning or somehow add these sites to some kind of safe list? Thanks

  • How to run VisualSVN Server on port 443 running IIS on same server?

    - by Metro Smurf
Server 2008 R2 SP1 VisualSVN Server 2.1.6 The IIS server has about 10 sites. One of them uses https over port 443 with the following bindings: http x.x.x.39:80 site.com http x.x.x.39:80 www.site.com https x.x.x.39:443 VisualSVN Server Properties server name: svn.SomeSite.com server port: 443 Server Binding: x.x.x.40 No sites on IIS are listening to x.x.x.40. When starting up VisualSVN server, the following errors are thrown: make_sock: could not bind to address x.x.x.40:443 (OS 10013) An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions. no listening sockets available, shutting down When I stop Site.com on IIS, then VisualSVN Server starts up without a problem. When I bind VisualSVN server to port 8443 and start Site.com, then VisualSVN Server starts without a problem. My goal is to be able to access the VisualSvn Server with a normal url, i.e., one that does't use a port number in the address: https://svn.site.com vs https://svn.site.com:8443 What needs to be configured to allow VisualSVN Server to run on port 443 with IIS running on the same server? Edit / Answer The answer provided by Ivan did point me in the right direction. For anyone else running into this, here is a bit more information. Even though my IIS had no bindings set to the IP address I am using for VisualSvn, IIS will still take the IP address hostage unless IIS is explicitly told which IP addresses to listen to. There is no GUI in Win Server 2k8 to configure the IP addresses for IIS to listen; by default, IIS listens to all IP addresses assigned to the server. The following will help configure IIS to only listen to the IP addresses you want: open a command prompt enter: netsh enter: http enter: show iplisten -- this will show a table of the IP addresses IIS is listening to. By default, the table will be empty (I guess this means IIS listens to all IP's) For each IP address IIS should listen to, enter: add iplisten ipaddress=x.x.x.x enter: show iplisten -- you should now see all the IP addresses added to the listening table. Exit and then reset IIS. Each of these commands can also be run directly, i.e., netsh http show iplisten If you need to delete an IP address from the listening table: open a command prompt enter: netsh enter: http enter: delete iplisten ipaddress=x.x.x.x Exit and then reset IIS.

  • Save Remote SSL Certificate via Linux Command Line

    - by Jim
Can you think of any linux command-line method for saving the certificate presented by a HTTPS server? Something along the lines of having curl/wget/openssl make a SSL connection and save the cert rather than the HTTP response content. The gui equivalent to what I'm looking for would be to browse to the HTTPS site, double-click on the browser "secure site" icon, and export the cert. Except the goal here is to do it non-interactively. Thanks, Jim

  • How do you set up SSL and Nginx Proxying?

    - by Jason Christa
I have Nginx listening to traffic on port 80 and proxying certain request to Apache over port 8080. I am going to set up Nginx to listen to port 443 for https traffic, but my question is how should the proxying be done now? Does the proxy to Apache need to be https or has Nginx already decoded it so I can keep sending it to Apache over port 8080. BTW, Apache is running with the least amount of modules installed possible and has currently has no SSL related modules, would I need to install any?

  • SSL certificate selection based on host-header: is it possible?

    - by DrStalker
Is it possible for a web server to select an SSL certificate to use based on the host-header of the incoming connection, or is that information that is only available after the SSL connection is established? That is, can my webserver listed on port 443 and use the foo.com certificate if https://foo.com is requested, and the bar.com certificate if https://bar.com is requested or am I trying to do something impossible because the server has to establish an SSL connection before it knows what the client wants?

In other words, I want my connection from my web browser to my forward proxy to be encrypted even though I'm just surfing normal http website through that proxy. Can it be done?

  • How can I download a cryptographically signed version the Java JDK from Oracle?

    - by user53352
When going to Oracle's download site (https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_SMI-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewProductDetail-Start?ProductRef=java_ee_sdk-6u1u21-wjdk-oth-JPR@CDS-CDS_SMI) to download JDK for EE the download is over HTTP (not HTTPS) and the executable isn't signed. As far as I can tell, there are also no SHA1 hashes published so I have no way to verify that the code hasn't been altered. Does anybody know of a way to verify this or has Oracle not given any way to make sure this is secure?

  • Blocking HTTPS and P2P Traffic

    - by Genboy
I have a Debian server running at the gateway level on a LAN. This runs squid for creating block lists of websites - for eg. blocking social networking on the LAN. Also uses iptables. I am able to do a lot of things with squid & iptables, but a few things seem difficult to achieve. 1) If I block facebook through their http url, people can still access https://www.facebook.com because squid doesn't go through https traffic by default. However, if the users set the gateway IP address as proxy on their web browser, then https is also blocked. So I can do one thing - using iptables drop all outgoing 443 traffic, so that people are forced to set proxy on their browser in order to browse any HTTPS traffic. However, is there a better solution for this. 2) As the number of blocked urls increase in squid, I am planning to integrate squidguard. However, the good squidguard lists are not free for commercial use. Anyone knows of a good squidguard list which is free. 3) Block yahoo messenger, gtalk etc. There are so many ports on which these Instant Messenger softwares work. You need to drop lots of outgoing ports in iptables. However, new ports get added, so you have to keep adding them. And even if your list of ports is current, people can still use the web version of gtalk etc. 4) Blocking P2P. Haven't been able to figure out how to do this till now.

  • Http to https behavior for visits from Internet Explorer client

    - by Emile
My website has an SSL cert (example url: https://subdomain.example.com). Under Apache it's set up for both port 80 and port 443. So under the following configuration, anyone who goes to http://subdomain.example.com is sent to https://subdomain.example.com . But for visits from Internet Explorer, the redirect doesn't happen. Instead, http visits get a "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page." with a list of client-side solutions to try. Any ideas on how to fix the config so IE visits have the same behavior as the other browsers (that is, send http to https automatically)? • Sticky sessions on load balancers with HTTP and HTTPS

    - by javano
How does sticky sessions relate to HTTP and HTTPS; If I place a load balancer in front of some web app servers that run a front end that supports HTTPS, will the sessions remain "sticky" on a typical load balancer that lists "stick sessions" as one of it's supported features? I understand that question is partly open ended; To clarify, would I require a load balancer that supports sticky HTTPS session specifical or is "sticky sessions" a principal that functions agnostic of the HTTP payload, be it encrypted or not? Thank you.

  • Issue with https:// url going to an unknown location

    - by Brandon
We have a website (ASP.NET/Plesk 9.5.5) that can be accessed just fine through the regular URL (http://example.com). However when accessing the site through https://example.com the site displays the invalid security certificate warning, which is fine since we don't have an SSL certificate. If I add an exception, I'm sent to a completely separate site that is apparently hosting a malware script (I'm still on https://example.com though). Because of this Google has flagged the site as dangerous. I can't find anything in the Plesk panel that would help fix this, and as far as I can tell those files don't exist on our server. How do I tell where the https:// link is sending me? I'm not that familiar with DNS, but is that what is causing this behavior?

  • How to write a ProxyPass rule to go from HTTPS to HTTP in IIRF

    - by Keith Nicholas
I have a server which is running a web app that self serves HTTP. I'm wanting to use IIS6 (on the same server) to provide a HTTPS layer to this web app. From what I can tell doing a reverse proxy will allow me to do this. IIRF seems like the tool to do this job. There are no domain names involved.... its all ip numbers. So I think I want :- https:<ipnumber>:5001 to send all its requests to the same server but on a different port and use HTTP ( not exposed to the net ) http:<ipnumber>:5000 but not sure how to go about it with IIRF, I'm not entirely sure how to write the rules? I think I need to make a virtual web app on 5001 using HTTPS? then add a rules file.

  • Installed IE8 & SP3 on XP now I can't HTTPS from any browser

    - by Kevin
The computer is Windows XP Professional SP3 with IE8. On the Tools Options Connections the "Settings" is GRAYED OUT (I am an admin on the machine) Any browsing of https:// addresses results in IE displaying the following: "this program cannot display the web page" After installing an alternate browser and trying the same https:// address I get a similar error message.
