  • Javascript not working in IE but works in Firefox chrome

    - by user1290528
    So i have the following php page with a java script that gets the total of items based on their quatity, then inputs the total into a text box for each item. In ie the text boxes are being filled with $NaN. While in firefox, chrome the text boxes are filled with the correct values. Any help would be graatly appreciated. <?php echo $_SESSION['SESS_MEMBER_ID']; require_once('auth.php'); ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <meta content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" http-equiv="Content-Type"> <title>Breakfast Menu</title> <link href="loginmodule.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> <script type='text/javascript'> var totalarray=new Array(); var totalarray2= new Array(); var runningtotal = 0; var runningtotal2 = 0; var discount = .2; var discounttotal = 0; var discount1 = 0; runningtotal = runningtotal * 1; runningtotal2 = runningtotal2 * 1; function displayResult(price,init) { var newstring = "quantity"+init; var totstring = "total"+init; var quantity = document.getElementById(newstring).value; var quantity = parseFloat(quantity); var test = price * quantity; var test = test.toFixed(2); document.getElementById(newstring).value = quantity; document.getElementById(totstring).value = "$" + test; totalarray[init] = test; getTotal(); } function getTotal(){ runningtotal = 0; var i=0; for (i=0;i<totalarray.length;i++){ totalarray[i] = totalarray[i] *1; runningtotal = runningtotal + totalarray[i]; discounttotal = totalarray[i] * discount; discounttotal = totalarray[i] - discounttotal; This line is where IE shows its first error document.getElementById('totalcost').value="$" + runningtotal.toFixed(2); } var orderpart1 = document.getElementById('totalcost').value; var orderpart1 = orderpart1.substr(1); var orderpart1 = orderpart1 * 1; var orderpart2 = document.getElementById('totalcost2').value; var orderpart2 = orderpart2.substr(1); var orderpart2 = orderpart2 * 1; var ordertot = orderpart1 + orderpart2; document.getElementById('ordertotal').value ="$"+ ordertot.toFixed(2) } function displayResult2(price2,init2) { var newstring2 = "quantity2"+init2; var totstring2 = "total2"+init2; var quantity2 = document.getElementById(newstring2).value; var quantity2 = parseFloat(quantity2); var test2 = price2 * quantity2; var test2 = test2.toFixed(2); document.getElementById(newstring2).value = quantity2; document.getElementById(totstring2).value = "$" + test2; totalarray2[init2] = test2; getTotal2(); } function getTotal2(){ runningtotal2 = 0; var i=0; for (i=0;i<totalarray2.length;i++){ totalarray2[i] = totalarray2[i] *1; runningtotal2 = runningtotal2+ totalarray2[i]; This is where IE shows its second error document.getElementById('totalcost2').value="$" + runningtotal2.toFixed(2); }//IE Shows Second error here var orderpart1 = document.getElementById('totalcost').value; var orderpart1 = orderpart1.substr(1); var orderpart1 = orderpart1 * 1; var orderpart2 = document.getElementById('totalcost2').value; var orderpart2 = orderpart2.substr(1); var orderpart2 = orderpart2 * 1; var ordertot = orderpart1 + orderpart2; document.getElementById('ordertotal').value ="$"+ ordertot.toFixed(2); } </script> </head> <body> <?php include("newnew.php"); ?> <td style="vertical-align: top; width: 80%; height:80%;"><br> <div style="text-align: center;"> <form action="testplaceorder.php" method="post" onSubmit="return confirm('Are you sure?');"> <h4>Employee Breakfast Order Form</h4> <h1 align="left">Breakfest Foods</h1> <table border='0' cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0'> <tr> <td> <table width="100%" border="1"> <tr> <th>Item&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp</th> <th>Price&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp </th> <th>Quantity&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp</th> <th>Total&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp</th> </tr> <?php mysql_connect("localhost", "seniorproject", "farmingdale123") or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db("fsenior") or die(mysql_error()); $result = mysql_query("SELECT name, price,foodid FROM Food where foodtype='br'") or die(mysql_error()); $init = 0; while(list($name, $price, $brId) = mysql_fetch_row($result)) { echo "<tr> <td>$name</td> <td>\$$price</td> <td><select name='quantity$init' id='quantity$init' onchange='displayResult($price,$init)'><option>0</option><option>1</option><option>2</option><option>3</option><option>4</option><option>5</option><option>6</option><option>7</option><option>8</option><option>9</option></td> <td><input name='total$init' type='text' id='total$init' readonly='readonly' value='\$0.00'></td> </tr>" ; echo "<script type='text/javascript'>displayResult($price,$init);</script>"; $foodname = "'SESS_FOODNAME_" . $init .   • Make IE stop asking me to install adobe flash player

    - by Sam
I don't have adobe flash player installed, and don't miss the flashing ads a bit. The only thing that annoys me: IE8 keeps asking me "this web site wants to install Adobe Flash Player", and I want to get rid of this question. I don't want to install it, not now, not ever. So how do I make IE stop asking me about it?

  • IE 7 opens .zip files as XML documents

    - by EdmundG
When I try clicking on a zip file link on a web page, IE 7 tries to open it as an XML document and displays: The XML page cannot be displayed Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again. I get around this by right-clicking and using Save Target As... Double clicking on a .zip in the file system opens my zip program without problems. How do I fix this problem?

  • GPO IE Favorites Adds Unwanted Folders

    - by Kyle Brandt
I created a AD 2003 GPO to add a couple of the company's links to everyone's IE. I have the following: Checked: Place Favorites and Links at the Top of the List... Unchecked: Everything else Then: Favorites |-Company Link One |-Company Link Two Links However, the GPO seems to add Favorites Bar, Microsoft Websites, MSN Websites, and Windows Live folders. If they are deleted it seems to make them come back. Anyone know how to fix this?

  • Will not supporting IE or older browsers drive away potential visitors/users of my site? [closed]

    - by XToro
Normally a SO browser but this question doesn't fit there, hopefully it fits here. I just want to ask from web designers' point of view if it's wrong to not care about supporting Internet Explorer or older browsers. The site I'm designing looks great in all browsers except IE9-. There are certain things that IE doesn't support or behave like other browsers; webkit stuff, some CSS styles, drop-and-drop files from OS etc etc, but it all works great in Safari, FireFox, Chrome etc. Should I be that concerned? I know there are several people that use IE, but it's limitations have just been causing me more work by having to come up with workarounds. From what I've read, many of the issues I've been having should be solved with IE10, but not everybody keeps up to date. I know of several people who are still using IE6! Again, I'm hoping this is the right place to ask a question like this, and if not, please point me to the right stack exchange site instead of just downvoting me. Thanks! EDIT: Upon further research.... So far this year, IE(all versions) and Chrome have been neck and neck as the top, with IE only squeaking by Chrome, and FireFox a close 3rd. But looking at the top 10 browsers, IE6 doesn't even show up on this list in which the lowest percentage is 1.92%. Source : http://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php?year=2012&month=7 Having a look at this other site, IE6 shows up in 11th place out of 12, just before "Other" http://www.sitepoint.com/browser-trends-february-2012/ This makes me a little more wary of not spending more time on IE compatibility. However, my site will not be going to a live beta until October or November, and I'm hoping that IE10 will have more features coded into it. Currently, I've written my upload page which is a "drag-and-drop files from the OS" type to simply display "IE is not supported", leaving no other option for IE users to upload pictures because I've spent so much time writing the uploader which does many things other than just upload the files. I will be changing this kinda cold "Access Denied" to a suggestion to upgrade, or install other browsers, with download links for each. Big thanks for the posts here and the interesting links!

  • IE 8 "Find on this page" Feature is very slow

    - by Jessie
I've tried to find a work around for this, but most of my searches end up in people who can't use the find-on-this-page feature at all in IE8. It appears for me, but for some reason takes forever to find things on a text heavy page, often making IE completely un-usable for several minutes. I thought I was the only one, but other people in my office have noticed it as well. Is anyone aware of a work around?

  • IE Display Bug, jQuery bug

    - by nute
So I built some complex ajaxy jquery module on my homepage, with the help of "scrollable" from flowplayer.org. It works fine for me on Chrome, Opera, Firefox ... but of course IE is not playing friendly (regardless of the version, from my testing). Objects are not displaying exactly where they should, some are overlaying each other, and when a click a button some divs just disappear. However, if I resize the IE browser window up and down, the display mostly fixes itself. Then if I click on one of the buttons I made, it messes it up again. Until I resize the window again and it looks fine. To see the problem: Go to makemeheal.com Visit a couple of product pages (you need a product browsing history to see the module) Go to: http://www.makemeheal.com/mmh/home.do?forceshowIE=1 Look at the "Your Recent History" module. (note the forceshowIE=1, because by default I hide it for IE people) I was thinking maybe there is a way to force IE to redraw the entire module sometimes? Or maybe someone has a better idea on how to fix the underlying problem? Source code is available here: http://www.makemeheal.com/mmh/scripts/recentHistory.js http://www.makemeheal.com/mmh/styles/recentHistory.css Thanks

  • dximagetransform.matrix, absolutely position child elements not rotating in IE 8 standards mode

    - by davydka
I've looked all over for more information on this, and would like to know why it happens. Here's the code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html> <head> </head> <body> <div style="position:absolute; top:200px; left:200px; height:200px; width:200px; border:1px solid black; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Matrix(sizingMethod='auto expand', M11=0.9886188373396114, M12=-0.15044199698646263, M21=0.15044199698646263, M22=0.9886188373396114);"> <div style="position:absolute; top:10px; left:10px; border:1px solid darkblue;"> I do not rotate in IE 8. </div> </div> </body> </html> The problem is that absolutely or relatively positioned elements within a div that has been rotated using MS's dximagetransform.matrix do not inherit the transformation in IE 8. IE 6 & 7 render correctly, and I can solve the IE8 problem by triggering compatibility mode, but I'd rather not do that. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm using css3 transform on other browsers and using dximagetransform.matrix to achieve this effect in IE. EDIT: Added the opening html tag. Problem still exists. http://i45.tinypic.com/nf4gmq.png

  • Make an image transparent in IE to show non-transparent background

    - by Select0r
Hi, I'm trying to get this thing to work in IE (any version - works in FF, Opera, Safari, Chrome ...): I have a DIV with a background-image. The DIV also contains an image that should be transparent onMouseOver. The expected behaviour now is that the DIV-background would shine through the transparent image (which it does in all browsers but IE). Instead it looks like the image is getting transparent but on a white background, I can't see the DIV's background through the image. Here's some code: <div><a href="#" class"dragItem"><img /></a></div> And some CSS: .dojoDndItemOver { cursor : pointer; filter : alpha(opacity = 50); opacity : 0.5; -moz-opacity : 0.5; -khtml-opacity : 0.5; } .dragItem:hover { filter : alpha(opacity = 30); opacity : 0.3; -moz-opacity : 0.3; -khtml-opacity : 0.3; background : none; } All of this is embedded in a Dojo Drag-n-Drop-system, so dojoDndItemOver will automatically be set to the DIV on MouseOver, dragItem is set to the href around the image (using the same class on the image directly doesn't work at all as IE doesn't support "hover" on other items that href). Any ideas? Or is it an IE-speciality to just "simulate" transparency on images by somehow just greying them out instead of providing real transparency and showing whatever is beneath?

  • Cookie not renewing/overwriting in IE

    - by deceze
I have a weird quirk with cookies in IE. When a user logs into the site, I'm generating a new session id and hence need to overwrite the cookie. The flow is basically: Client goes to https://secure.example.com/users/login page, automatically receiving a session id Client POSTs login credentials to same address Client receives the following headers together with a 302 redirect to https://secure.example.com/users/mypage: CAKEPHP=deleted; expires=Sun, 05-Apr-2009 04:50:35 GMT; path=/ CAKEPHP=98hnIO23...; expires=Mon, 12 Apr 2010 04:50:36 GMT; path=/; secure Client is supposed to visit https://secure.example.com/users/mypage, presenting the new session id. This works in all browsers, except IE (tested in 7 & 8). IE retains the old, unauthenticated session id, and is redirected back to the login page. It works on my local test environment (using a self-signed certificate at https://localhost:8443/...), but not on the live server. I'm using CakePHP and simply issue a $this->Session->renew(), which produces the above cookie headers. Any ideas how to get IE to accept the new cookie?

  • Event type property lost in IE-8

    - by Channel72
I've noticed a strange Javascript error which only seems to happen on Internet Explorer 8. Basically, on IE-8 if you have an event handler function which captures the event object in a closure, the event "type" property seems to become invalidated from within the closure. Here's a simple code snippet which reproduces the error: <html> <head> <script type = "text/javascript"> function handleClickEvent(ev) { ev = (ev || window.event); alert(ev.type); window.setTimeout(function() { alert(ev.type); // Causes error on IE-8 }, 20); } function foo() { var query = document.getElementById("query"); query.onclick = handleClickEvent; } </script> </head> <body> <input id = "query" type = "submit"> <script type = "text/javascript"> foo(); </script> </body> </html> So basically, what happens here is that within the handleClickEvent function, we have the event object ev. We call alert(ev.type) and we see the event type is "click". So far, so good. But then when we capture the event object in a closure, and then call alert(ev.type) again from within the closure, now all of a sudden Internet Explorer 8 errors, saying "Member not found" because of the expression ev.type. It seems as though the type property of the event object is mysteriously gone after we capture the event object in a closure. I tested this code snippet on Firefox, Safari and Chrome, and none of them report an error condition. But in IE-8, the event object seems to become somehow invalidated after it's captured in the closure. Question: Why is this happening in IE-8, and is there any workaround?

  • Bizarre Bug with our Rails app in IE

    - by Callmeed
We're experiencing a really bizarre bug in our Rails 2.3.4 app. This bug only happens in Internet Explorer (7 and 8). Here's what happens: A new customer creates an account at https://domain.com/signup/free (notice no subdomain) Their account is identified by a subdomain like "example.domain.com" After signing up, they get a welcome screen with a link to their account's home page They follow the link, then click the "log in" button and attempt to login Even though they provide valid credentials, the app redirects back to their account's root url ... they can never reach their admin area The only way they can login (on IE) is by quitting and re-opening IE ... then it works fine ... Something with their initial session is preventing them from logging in. If it matters, we are using restful_authentication and the ssl_requirement plugin ... I'm not sure if one or both of those has a problem with IE but we are stumped here. Also, I've read IE has an issue with subdomains that contain underscores ... this isn't what's going on.

  • Google Maps: Simple app not working on IE

    - by Peter Bridger
We have a simple Google Maps traffic application up at: http://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/newsroom/traffic/ For some reason it's recently stopped working in IE correctly. At this point in time it was using V2 of the API, so I've just upgraded it to use V3 - but it still won't work in IE. It works fine in Chrome & Firefox. But in all versions of IE I've tired (6,7,8) the Google Map doesn't load fully. The problem The Google Map DIV will generally load all the controls (Zoom, Powered by Google, map types) but the actual map tiles do not appear in IE. I can just see the grey background of the DIV What I've tried I've commented down the JavaScript code to just the following on the page, but it still has the same problem: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false"></script> <script type="text/javascript" > var map; $(document).ready(function () { initialize(); // Set-up Google map }); function initialize() { var options = { zoom: 9, center: new google.maps.LatLng(51.335759, -2.870178), mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP }; map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("googleMap"), options); } </script>
