• How to enable Line numbering in Visual Studio

  Why doesn't VS have any sort of line numbering? Is there any way to enable it, or a plugin for it? I know, the number of lines of code in a program doesn't matter, but sometimes it is nice to know how long a program is, or what line number something is for reference. I can't seem to find that as an option anywhere, to my surprise. Thanks for the help! This is Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate. (if you have read my older questions, I've been using 2008 Express until now.)

  Does anyone know how to break out of a for loop when it's typed directly into the windows command-line? I know you can use gotos and labels to break out of it when it's in a batch file, but I can't find anything about breaking out of one on the command line. Here's a simple example: C:> for /l %i in (1,0,1) do @ping -n 1 google.com || (echo ^G & msg user "Google is down!" & QUIT) This should infinitely ping google.com. If it ever fails, it beeps (echo ^G), displays a message box to the user "user" that says "Google is down!", and QUITs. I don't know how to do the quit part though. I guess I could do something like taskkill /f /im cmd.exe, but I was looking for something more elegant. Any tips?

  Why do Windows programs parse command-line switches out of their executable's path? (The latter being what is commonly known as argv[0].) Are there many users that expect to type command-line switches without a space (e.g. program/? instead of program /?), and should I try to support this, or should I just report an error and exit immediately?   I have a mixed mode C++-CLI program in Visual Studio 2005 that is set to use the /SUBSYSTEM:Windows. Generally speaking it is a graphical application that is launched from its shortcut or through the filetype registered to it. However, there is a rare occasion where a user will want to run it from the command line with arguments. I can access the arguments just fine, its when it comes to writing to the console, in response to the program being launched from the command line with arguments, where I don't see Console::WriteLine having any effect. What am I doing wrong?

  I have a line number of a Java source file and want to get the sourounding method for that line number programatically. I looked into ANTLR which didn't help me much. Janino (http://www.janino.net) seems promising, I would scan and parse (and if necessary compile) the code. Then I could use JDI and ReferenceType.locationsOfLine(int lineNumber) Still I don't know how to use JDI for doing this and didn't find a tutorial that goes anywhere in this direction. Maybe there is some other way that I am completely missing.

• Developing "Command Line" in .NET?

  Imagine a "search box" on the right top side of the UI Windows Application. When user types a desired action, a matching functionality is executed. Screen gets opened, or action gets performed. For example: user types "create" and intellisence offered next word options "client"/"product", user picks "client", and "Create New Client" screen opens up. So what I am looking for if there is a framework support for this. I assume that framework shall bind together text commands names, commands and show in intellisense. Same framework possibly could have been used in alternative "Command Line interface". I recall Microsoft had some recent framework that helps to setup "command Line Interface" environmental. It is hard to search on web for this keywords, so relying on intelligent help from you guys. Thanks in advance.

  I have a small command line tool and after running it, I'd like to display the text output in a way that's easy for someone to copy/paste and save it or email it to someone else. Copy/pasting from a command prompt is not done in the standard way, so I don't want people to have to copy/paste from there. Saving the file to disk is possible, but the folder where the tool is located may not have access rights so the user would have to configure the output file location (this may be too tricky for some users). I was thinking of launching notepad with some text in it, generated from the command line tool. Is this possible? Any other suggestions?

I have made the replace function and everything works great, but I am stumped getting it to work with command line arguments. Here is the main code: (replace function not included) main = do text <- getContents (command1:command2:_) <- getArgs putStrLn (replace (read command1) (read command2) text) So for intstance in the terminal I want to be able to type something like: "--- cat textfile.txt | ./replace oldword newword" I know this code is close since I have seen others do it this way.   I have a problem with my self-coded template system. The content is inserted by Include(). Now I need to add a meta redirect to one page. I know, meta redirect is not the safest way, but I need it because of it's delay possibility. Now i'm looking for a way to influence the wrapping page (template) by the wrapped page (content). Furthermore, I don't understand why the inclusion of the length property makes all the difference in filtering the elements. The second method does nothing, since it returns all the elements. The first method, with the only change being the addition of the length property, correctly filters the elements. I would very much like a line-by-line explanation. • how to implemet a nice scanline effect using libgdx

  I am working on an old school platformer based on libgdx. My first attempt is to make a little texture and fill a rect above the whole screen, but it seems that I am messing arround with the orthographic camera (I use two camera, one for the tilemap and one to project the scanline filter). Sometime the texture is stuck on the tilemap and sometime it is too large and cover the whole screen in black. Is my approach correct using two camera? Does someone have a solution to achieve this retro effect using libgdx (see maldita castilla)? Thanks
