  • Rename Devices in Device Manager

    This is mostly just for the USB ports, as I recognize everything else in computers.... Anyways, is there a way to rename, or otherwise, identify which USB port (or other hardware for that matter) is which device in Device Manager? I know I can plug in a flash drive, then see what port it is connected with, and find out that way. What I would like though, is to find out that a certain plug is always a certain device in Device Manager. If I can then have a system in mind that always has the same order, I can look and see if a USB port is not being detected or not working properly, and as I uninstall/reinstall USB devices, I know I won't lose my keyboard or mouse, for example.   • Custom layout/group switching keys in Linux

    I'm using Ubuntu (Karmic) and 2 keyboard layouts. Using the gnome settings, I managed to set it to switch with Alt+Shift (windows style), but I really want to limit it to Right Alt + Right Shift, but that option isn't available in the gnome wizard. I've opened gconf-editor and found the kbd configuration, but trying to add 'r' or 'right_' prefixes to the keys didn't help. Is this possible?

    I have this query SELECT articles.*, users.username AS `user` FROM `articles` LEFT JOIN `users` ON articles.user_id = users.id ORDER BY articles.timestamp Basically it returns the list of articles and the username that the article is associated to. Now if there is no entry in the users table for a particular user id, the users var is NULL. Is there anyway to make it that if its null it returns something like "User Not Found"? or would i have to do this using php?

    I know constructors don't "return" anything but for instance if I call CMyClass *object = new CMyClass() is there any way to make object to be NULL if the constructor fails? In my case I have some images that have to be loaded and if the file reading fails I'd like it to return null. Is there any way to do that? Thanks in advance.

  • Why does my layout repeats in device but looks fine on emulator when an image is added in a Relative Layout?

    let me try to explain clearly with what I want here. I have a RelativeLayout that contains a header image and the content below it. Now, when i have a header image and a list view below it, the page fits the screen in the device properly, the layout does not repeat. But when I place an image below the header image, the layout repeats in the device. Meaning i could see 2 header images in the device. Some page, I could see half of the header image that is not supposed to be there (repeated header image). However, in emulator, all the pages looks fine and fit the screen nicely. I tried changing to LinearLayout, RelativeLayout inside LinearLayout, Relative Layout, it gave me the same outcome. I hope someone could tell me why this happened. Thanks.     I would like to make a LinearLayout that was created from xml invisible, and another LinearLayout visible to replace it. The replacement layout starts out as invisible. When I make the originally visible layout invisible, it still leaves space for it on the screen. How can I refresh the screen so that space is gone?

    Hello, I need to create a map with items on it (the map consists of a drawable object, which represents a room) and I thought about using buttons with background images for the items so that they are clickable. I guess the AbsoluteLayout fits here the best, but unfortunately it's deprecated. What layout would you recommend me for this kind of application ? Is there another layout which supports X/Y coordinates ?
