  I broke my mysql and now I want to completely reinstall it. I tried: $ sudo apt-get install --reinstall mysql-server $ sudo apt-get remove --purge mysql-client mysql-server But always I see popup with proposal to change root password, I change it and got an error that I can change it.. $ sudo apt-get remove --purge mysql-client mysql-server Reading package lists... • Error installing mysql, any way to fix it?

  I was installing mysql with apt-get install mysql-server (like I always did) before that I had done an apt-get update (I am using Debian 6), and when I installed I found this problem, pretty common as I see, but Ive followed all stepts and nothing have worked, Ive tried with apt-get install -f also with apt-get remove mysql-server (and common, and mysql-server-5.1) and also with apt-get purge (every packate) and later install, but nothing... • MySQL fails to start after upgrade to 12.04?

  I'm a newbie on MySQL ground so bear with me. I've just finished upgrading 11.10 to 12.04. Everything seemed to work without any hiccups and all my software and settings are working fine. Apart from MySQL. When I try: sudo start mysql I receive an error: start: Job failed to start Where can I possibly diagnose what the problem is? And (hopefully) - how to sort it out? (I disabled automatic start following advice here if that is of some importance) Update 1: Both outputs of: cat /var/log/mysql.err cat /var/log/mysql.log are empty. The permissions of “application/logs” folder is “777”, but there is no log file (I was expecting that CodeIgniter would automatically create a log file, should I create one, if I’ve to log errors there). Ideally, I just wish all those errors, warning, and notices (with messages) that were displayed on my webpage were sent to log-file /var/log/php-scripts.log when the “Environment” is “Production”. If it’s not possible, I would also be fine, If i can log it somewhere else. Now, I’m confused as to what should be the settings in the “index.php” page or some other configuration, so as to supress all the errors and warnings on the webpage when environment is "Production", and send all those errors, warnings, and notices to php-scripts.log. Once the user selects a record, the JavaScript pulls the packed data apart and populates the other data elements on the FORM. It all works wonderfully in IE, but in FF the fields do not populate with data.   I have a DB with a table that is named "victim". The form that dumps the info into the table has room for two victims and therefore there is vic1_fname, vic1_lname, vic2_fname, vic2_lname, etc.. (business name, person first, person last, address, city, state, zip) a "1" and "2" of each. Now I want to search the DB and locate listed victims. • PHP crashing during oAuth scripts

  I just installed Nginx 1.2.4 and PHP 5.4.0 (from svn) (php fpm). CentOs 5.8 64 The problem I have is that PHP crashes the moment I run any social oAuth scripts. I have tried to log into Facebook, Twitter and Google with various scripts that I know work on my other servers. When I load the scripts I get a 502 error from Nginx. And I find these errors in the log: in php-fpm log: WARNING: [pool www] child 23821 exited on signal 11 (SIGSEGV) after 1132.862984 seconds from start in nginx log: ERROR: recv() failed (104: Connection reset by peer) while reading response header from upstream From what I can see, it goes wrong when PHP tries to make a request to any of the oAuth servers. https://github.com/mahmudahsan/PHP-SDK-3.0---Graph-API-base-Facebook-Connect-Tutorial-Source for example is one of the scripts that works perfectly on my other machines, but causes PHP to crash. I found: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3616191/nginx-php-fpm-502-bad-gateway which seems to be a similar problem, but I cannot find a way to solve it. +++ UPDATE +++ Now I have been doing some debugging in 1 of the scripts that is playing up. If you go to line 808 http://pastebin.com/gSnzRtXb it runs the curl_exec() command. When that is ran, it crashes. If i echo'test';exit; just above that line, it echo's correctly, if i do it below that line, php crashes. Which means it's that line 808 which causes the crash. So I made a very simple script to do some testing: http://pastebin.com/Rshnyhcm which also uses curl_exec, but that runs just fine. So I started to dig deeper into that query from the facebook script to see what values the $opts array contains from line 806. • WAMP Installation - Multiple PHP Version Issues

  I have installed WAMP because I am attempting to modify an an application which uses Zend Optimizer (I cannot use Z.O. with PHP5.3+, which is why I decided to install WAMP). I downloaded the latest version - Wamp Server 2.1 - which comes bundled with PHP5.3.5. I then downloaded a PHP version that would be compatible with Z.O. - 5.2.9. - and a compatible Apache version, 2.0.63. My problem: PHP scripts run fine, but anything with MySQL does not work. Running the testmysql.php script returns the fatal error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect() in C:\wamp\www\testmysql.php on line 2". I have looked in the PHP INI files inside both PHP versions, and I'm fairly sure the relevant information is there. At least, there are parts inside that mention MySQL! Perhaps somebody could clarify exactly what information should be present? Also, when visiting a page that called phpinfo(), I noticed that the 'Loaded Configuration File' was pointing to C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.5\php.ini, even though I have enabled the older PHP version. I've stopped and started Apache, too, and that hasn't made a difference. Is anybody able to offer any assistance? Anything at all would be great; I'm not very good at messing around with Apache/

• Comunicate NodeJS and PHP

  i need ideas to solve this: I have a entire website in PHP (5.2) in a PHP "shared server", only i can use apache+PHP, CGI & NodeJS, no memcached, redis or another software. And i need to comunicate the PHP and the NodeJS Script. My first approach is using socket connection, creating in NodeJS a socket listener and connect to it witch PHP, and then, send commands, whait for response, and close connection (and end PHP Script). To the other side, i can call PHP script via ¿httprequest? ¿or using sockets again? The problem of using sockets fron Node to PHP, i CANT leave PHP script runing with set_time_limit(0) because the fuc... server, need to "call" PHP for another way. The NodeJS and Apache + PHP are in the same machine, i need to make the code for the fast response time (sockets better than web-calls). Better ideas or other solutions? thanks!

• PHP shared extensions on Linux

  I am running Ubuntu Server 12.04 and prefer to compile PHP myself as opposed to installing it using apt-get. PHP is running as PHP-FPM. When compiling extensions, I can set it to be compiled as a shared extension using something like --with-bcmath=shared and so on. Are there any benefits to compiling the extensions as shared? I also noticed that the extensions are compiled into a pretty convoluted folder. On my system (my php prefix is /usr/local/php-5.4.9) the extensions end up in /usr/local/php-5.4.9/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20100525. Is there a global way to set a folder so that all shared extensions will be compiled in there? I understand that I can do something like --with-foobar=shared,/usr/local/foobar/ but having to set the extension folder for each shared extension is inefficient and error-prone.

  We're running a fairly large site using nginx and PHP-FPM and we're getting a lot of errors as the site load is quite high. We're getting "connect() failed (110: Connection timed out) while connecting to upstream"...upstream: "fastcgi://127.0.0.1:9000" Here's my config file for PHP-FPM. PHP-FPM: [www] listen = 127.0.0.1:9000 listen.allowed_clients = 127.0.0.1 user = nginx group = nginx pm = dynamic pm.max_children = 100 pm.start_servers = 20 pm.min_spare_servers = 5 pm.max_spare_servers = 35 pm.max_requests = 100 slowlog = /var/log/php-fpm/www-slow.log php_admin_value[error_log] = /var/log/php-fpm/www-error.log php_admin_flag[log_errors] = on What's the recommended config/number of servers/children for a high traffic site? We tried using Unix Sockets instead of TCP and got no noticeable improvements. Right now the errors are: connect() to unix:/var/run/php-fcgi.sock failed (11: Resource temporarily unavailable) while connecting to upstream...upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/php-fcgi.sock:"... • apache 2.4 php-fpm proxypassmatch for pretty urls

  I have a URL like http://newsymfony.dev/app_dev.php/_profiler/5080653d965eb. I would like to send this script to PHP-FPM. I currently have this as my vhost: VirtualHost *:80> ServerName newsymfony.dev DocumentRoot /home/COMPANY/nwalke/www/newsymfony.dev/web/ ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error_log LogLevel info CustomLog /var/log/apache2/access_log combined <Directory /home/COMPANY/nwalke/www/newsymfony.dev/web/> AllowOverride All Require all granted DirectoryIndex app.php </Directory> ProxyPassMatch ^/(.*\.php)$ fcgi://127.0.0.1:9003/home/COMPANY/nwalke/www/newsymfony.dev/web/$1 </VirtualHost> If I browse to app_dev.php it works just fine. But if I do app_dev.php/_profiler/5080653d965eb I get a 404 and the request never gets sent to FPM. How can I alter my ProxyPassMatch to pass anything with .php in the URL? I'm trying to do this with Symfony, but I'm pretty sure it applies to everything.

• php processes owned by ppid 1 after X amount of time

  I have a CentOS server running WHM that uses FastCGI (mod_fcgid) running PHP 5.2.17 on Apache 2.0 with SuExec. When I start Apache it begins fine and serving requests. If I run ps on the terminal as root I see the php processes and they are owned by their httpd parent processes. After X amount of time - different from time to time, not much longer than a few hours typically - the server will begin spawning PHP jobs owned by the init process ID (1) Example of good listing: 12918 18254 /usr/bin/php 12918 18257 /usr/bin/php 12918 18293 /usr/bin/php 12918 18545 /usr/bin/php 12918 18546 /usr/bin/php 12918 19016 /usr/bin/php 12918 19948 /usr/bin/php Then later something like: 1 6800 /usr/bin/php 1 6801 /usr/bin/php 1 7036 /usr/bin/php 1 8788 /usr/bin/php 1 10488 /usr/bin/php 1 10571 /usr/bin/php 1 10572 /usr/bin/php The php processes running owned by (1) never get cleaned up. Why would these processes be running? We don't use setsid or anything beyond basic PHP in the code this server is running. Cheers & Thanks
