  • Is it possible to expose data from Oracle using OData?

    - by Michael Rosario
From my personal research, it appears that OData implementations depend extensively on MS Entity framework. It would seem possible to implement the OData producer protocol using an open ORM like NHibernate in C# or Hibernate in Java. In the best of all worlds, it would be cool to expose data using OData protocol from Oracle. I am open to other open solutions like Java, JRuby, etc. Thanks in advance for your time.

  • ffmpeg - How to determine if -movflags faststart is enabled? PHP

    - by IIIOXIII
While I am able to encode an mp4 file which I can plan on my local windows machine, I am having trouble encoding files to mp4 which are readable when streaming by safari, etc. After a bit of reading, I believe my issue is that I must move the metadata from the end of the file to the beginning in order for the converted mp4 files to be streamable. To that end, I am trying to find out if the build of ffmpeg that I am currently using is able to use the -movflags faststart option through php - as my current outputted mp4 files are not working when streamed online. This is the way I am now echoing the -help, -formats, -codecs, but I am not seeing anything about -movflags faststart in any of the lists: exec($ffmpegPath." -help", $codecArr); for($ii=0;$ii<count($codecArr);$ii++){ echo $codecArr[$ii].'</br>'; } Is there a similar method of determining if -movflags fastart is available to my ffmpeg build? Any other way? Should it be listed with any of the previously suggested commands? -help/-formats? Can someone that knows it is enabled in their version of ffmpeg check to see if it is listed under -help or -formats, etc.? TIA. • How to use will_paginate with a nested resource in Rails?

    - by Sue Petersen
I'm new to Rails, and I'm having major trouble getting will_paginate to work with a nested resource. I have two models, Statement and Invoice. will_paginate is working on Statement, but I can't get it to work on Invoice. I know I'd doing something silly, but I can't figure it out and the examples I've found on google won't work for me. statement.rb class Statement < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :invoices def self.search(search, page) paginate :per_page => 19, :page => page, :conditions => ['company like ?', "%#{search}%"], :order => 'date_due DESC, company, supplier' end end statements_controller.rb <irrelevant code clipped for readability> def index #taken from the RAILSCAST 51, will_paginate podcast @statements = Statement.search(params[:search], params[:page]) end I call this in the view like so, and it works: <%= will_paginate @statements %> But I can't figure out how to get it to work for Invoices: invoice.rb class Invoice < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :statement def self.search(search, page) paginate :per_page => 19, :page => page, :conditions => ['company like ?', "%#{search}%"], :order => 'employee' end end invoices_controller.rb class InvoicesController < ApplicationController before_filter :find_statement #TODO I can't get will_paginate to work w a nested resource def index #taken from the RAILSCAST 51, will_paginate podcast @invoices = Invoice.search(params[:search], params[:page]) end def find_statement @statement_id = params[:statement_id] return(redirect_to(statements_url)) unless @statement_id @statement = Statement.find(@statement_id) end end And I try to call it like this: <%= will_paginate (@invoices) % The most common error message, as I play with this, is: "The @statements variable appears to be empty. Did you forget to pass the collection object for will_paginate?" I don't have a clue what the problem is, or how to fix it. Thanks for any help and guidance!

    Hi, guys! I am working on some old Flex project (Flex 2.0.1 hotfix 2) and I am rookie in Flex programming. So, I wrote code for accessing some ASP.NET web service: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> [Bindable] public var users:ArrayOfUser; private function buttonClicked():void { mx.controls.Alert.show(dataService.wsdl); dataService.UserGetAll.send();/ } public function dataHandler(event:ResultEvent):void { Alert.show("alo"); var response:ResponseUsers = event.result as ResponseUsers; if (response.responseCode != ResponseCodes.SUCCESS) { mx.controls.Alert.show("Error: " + response.responseCode.toString()); return; } users = response.users; } ]]> <mx:Button label="Click me!" click="buttonClicked()"/> And this is what I get from debugger: WSDL loaded Invoking SOAP operation UserGetAll Encoding SOAP request envelope Encoding SOAP request body 'A97A2DC1-AEDA-C594-45D2-1BA2B0F3B223' producer sending message '10681130-43E7-3DA7-34DD-1BA2B85545E3' 'direct_http_channel' channel sending message: (mx.messaging.messages::SOAPMessage)#0 body = "<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:s="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <SOAP-ENV:Body> <tns:UserGetAll xmlns:tns="http://tempuri.org/"/> </SOAP-ENV:Body> </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>" clientId = "DirectHTTPChannel0" contentType = "text/xml; charset=utf-8" destination = "DefaultHTTP" headers = (Object)#1 httpHeaders = (Object)#2 SOAPAction = ""http://tempuri.org/UserGetAll"" messageId = "10681130-43E7-3DA7-34DD-1BA2B85545E3" method = "POST" recordHeaders = false timestamp = 0 timeToLive = 0 url = "http://192.168.0.201:8123/Service.asmx" 'A97A2DC1-AEDA-C594-45D2-1BA2B0F3B223' producer acknowledge of '10681130-43E7-3DA7-34DD-1BA2B85545E3'.   • Concepts: Channel vs. Stream

    - by hotzen
Hello, is there a conceptual difference between the terms "Channel" and "Stream"? Do the terms require/determine, for example, the allowed number of concurrent Consumers or Producers? I'm currently developing a Channel/Stream of DataFlowVariables, which may be written by one producer and read by one consumer as the implementation is destructive/mutable. Would this be a Channel or Stream, is there any difference at all? Thanks

  • Encryption messages in a queue between 2 dlls.

    - by scope-creep
Hi, I'm sending messages between 1 dll and another, effectively posting messages onto the dll input queue and receiving a messages back from the dll output queue. These two dlls are very tightly integrated. DLL 1 is a producer, and DLL2 is the consumer. I want to encrypt the messages before they are sent. What would be the best approach? Any help would be appreciated.

  • HTML5 audio with PHP script does not work on iPad/Iphone

    - by saulob
Ok, I'm trying to play an HTML audio code on iPad but does not work. I created one PHP script to send to the MP3 request to the HTML5 audio code mp3_file_player.php?n=mp3file.mp3 The player is here: http://www.avault.com/news/podcast-news/john-romero-podcast-episode-80/ You will see that works on every HTML5 supported browser even on my iPod Touch. But does not work on iPad/iPhone, even on Safari on Mac OSX (I tried on Safari/Windows, worked fine) This is my PHP code: header("X-Powered-By: "); header("Accept-Ranges: bytes"); header("Content-Length: ". (string)(filesize($episode_filename)) .""); header("Content-type: audio/mpeg"); readfile($episode_filename); exit(); Everything works fine, the MP3 has the same headers like reading the mp3 directly. HTTP Headers from direct file access: (Status-Line) HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date Mon, 31 May 2010 20:27:31 GMT Server Apache/2.2.9 Last-Modified Wed, 26 May 2010 13:39:19 GMT Etag "dac0039-41d91f8-4877f669cefc0" Accept-Ranges bytes Content-Length 50656162 Content-Range bytes 18390614-69046775/69046776 Keep-Alive timeout=15, max=100 Connection Keep-Alive Content-Type audio/mpeg HTTP Header from my PHP script: (Status-Line) HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date Mon, 31 May 2010 20:27:08 GMT Server Apache/2.2.9 Accept-Ranges bytes Content-Length 69046776 Keep-Alive timeout=15, max=100 Connection Keep-Alive Content-Type audio/mpeg The only thing different it's the Content-Range, I even tried to add it, but if I use it the player will not work on my Ipod Touch. So I removed. Thank you very much.

  • Carrot (Python) [errno 10054] An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

    - by Meditation
Hi all, We are using Carrot in our Python project. I wrote a Python script acting as the consumer of the message queue. I invoked this Python script using command line shell in Windows 7 as python consumer.py However, after a while, the running session was aborted and the error is: [errno 10054] An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host The producer session is still running fine on the Linux server. Just wondering how can I fix this and have a long running consumer session on Windows Thanks in advance.

  • BlockingQueue decorator that logs removed objects

    - by scompt.com
I have a BlockingQueue that's being used in a producer-consumer situation. I would like to decorate this queue so that every object that's taken from it is logged. I know what the straightforward implementation would look like: simply implement BlockingQueue and accept a BlockingQueue in the constructor to which all of the methods would delegate. Is there another way that I'm missing? A library perhaps? Something with a callback interface?

  • Making a Wrapper class for ActiveMQ

    - by DarthVader
I want to make a Wrapper class for ActiveMQ which will have only send and get functions. I want to wrap them in a static class. Users can use this client and send, get messages to the activemq instance. I want this process to be transparent. There are two classes in this link My only handicap is, i need to this in c++ and not sure where to start. I havent used c++ for ages and now not sure how I can create this wrapper class. I m giving it a try as follows: // .h file #include <stdlib.h> #include <iostream> using namespace std; class ActiveMQWrapper { public: static void send(std::string message); static std::string get(); }; // .cpp file #include<string> #include<iostream> #include "ActiveMQWrapper.h" void ActiveMQWrapper::send(std::string message){ std::cout<<message; } std::string ActiveMQWrapper::get(){ return "test"; } // test file #include <string> #include <iostream> #include "ActiveMQWrapper.h" int main() { std::string foo ="test"; ActiveMQWrapper::send(foo); std::cout<<ActiveMQWrapper::get(); return 1; } When I added the following to .h file, hell breaks loose. Do you think I should seperate this impl to a factory and initialize and instance and return to the wrapper above? How do i deal with all the dependencies? private: Connection* connection; Session* session; Destination* destination; MessageProducer* producer; int numMessages; bool useTopic; bool sessionTransacted; std::string brokerURI; and the header files, i get several messages as errors, which complains about the path. How can i get this correct? I eventually want to build a Factory, get an instance and send or get the messages to the queue. is there a code sample i can look into to get this right? essential i want to use the functionality of only this producer and consumer. Edit: I understand there is no such thing as static class in C++ . This is my reference.

  • Can't sync iphone when sync podcasts selected

    - by spacecadet
I've gone through the following steps: Loaded up iTunes 10 on a Windows7 machine Went to iTunes store and subscribed to a podcast Selected sync podcasts Clicked sync However, it always hangs on step 1 of 3 - it just gives a status of 'Backing up' and never progresses past that. I've waited over an hour 3 times now. I'm getting so infuriated with this iTunes software; I'm afraid I might damage my PC in frustration ;-) Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Writing ~ 630 MBs of MP3 to a Regular Audio CD

    - by Maxim Z.
I have around 630 MBs of an MP3 podcast that I want to burn to a CD so that a friend can listen to it while driving. I understand that MP3 is very different from the normal audio CD format, but would it be possible to fit this amount onto a typical 700mb CD in the correct (non-MP3) format? I don't really care if some quality is lost. Thanks in advance!

  • Save a view in Windows Media Player

    - by Charles Roper
I like to view my library in various ways in WMP. For example, I usually search for Podcast and order the result by date added. This gives me a list of my podcasts by date order, newest to oldest. Is there a way of saving this view so that I don't have recreate it each time I open WMP? If it's not possible to do this, can anyone suggest an app that does do it, and that handles syncing as well as WMP.

  • iTunes video black screen until select computer output

    - by Daniel Huckstep
I don't remember this happening before, but now whenever I play any video in iTunes (podcast video, movie, TV show, iTunes extras stuff but the menus work) it just shows a black screen with the sound playing. If I stop it, select "Computer" in the little output control on the iTunes video control panel that pops up, then play again, it works fine. What the heck? Tried rebooting, updating, with and without external monitor. OSX 10.6.6

  • How to use "Automatically Add to iTunes" for podcasts

    - by user62037
I am trying to get old episodes of podcasts accessible through iTunes and on my iPod. However, when I add these episodes to the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder, they get automatically added, but to the wrong place - they are not getting classified as podcasts (despite their detailed info showing that they belong to the podcast genre). How can I get around this such that they get classified / filed as podcasts?

  • Automatically copy files to USB drive when connected

    - by Daphna
I am looking for a solution for copying all the files from a specific directory on the hard drive, to a specific directory on a USB memory device, once this device is connected. I have a program that downloads podcast episodes for me. I would like these files to be automatically moved (or at least copied) to my mp3 player once I connect it to the computer. I have both windows xp and linux machines, so a solution for any of them will work for me.

  • Underwriting in a New Frontier: Spurring Innovation

He shared a compelling story of operating on a soldier who had suffered a head-related trauma in a field hospital.  With minimal supplies available Gupta used a Black and Decker saw to operate on the soldier's head and reduce pressure on his swelling brain. Drawing from this example, Gupta encouraged underwriters to think creatively, be innovative, and consider new tools and sources of information, such as social networking sites, during the underwriting process. So as you are looking at risk take into consideration all resources you have available.    Gupta also stressed the concept of IKIGAI - noting that individuals who believe that their life is worth living are less likely to die than are their counterparts without this belief.  How does one quantify this approach to life or thought process when evaluating risk?  Could this be something to consider as a "category" in the near future? How can this same belief in your own work spur innovation?   The role of technology was a hot topic of discussion throughout the conference.  Sessions delved into the latest in underwriting software to the rise of social media and how it is being increasingly integrated into underwriting process and solutions.  In one session a trio of panelists representing the carrier, producer and vendor communities stressed the importance to underwriters of leveraging new technology and the plethora of online information sources, which all could be used to accurately, honestly and consistently evaluate the risk throughout the underwriting process.   Another focused on the explosion of social media noting:  1.    Social media is growing exponentially - About eight percent of Americans used social media five years ago. Today about 46 percent of Americans do so, with 85 percent of financial services professionals using social media in their work.  2.    It will impact your business - Underwriters reconfirmed over and over that they are increasingly using "free" tools that are available in cyberspace in lieu of more costly solutions, such as inspection reports conducted by individuals in the field.  3.    Information is instantly available on the Web, anytime, anywhere - LinkedIn was mentioned as a way to connect to peers in the underwriting community and producers alike.  Many carriers and agents also are using Facebook to promote their company to customers - and as a point-of-entry to allow them to perform some functionality - such as accessing product marketing information versus directing users to go to the carrier's own proprietary website.  Other carriers have released their tight brand marketing to allow their producers to drive more business to their personal Facebook site where they offer innovative tools such as Application Capture or asking medical information in a more relaxed fashion.     Other key topics at the conference included the economy, ongoing industry consolidation, real-estate valuations as an asset and input into the underwriting process, and producer trends.  All stressed a "back to basics" approach for low cost, term products.   Finally, Connie Merritt, RN, PHN, entertained the large group of atttendees with audience-engaging insight on how to "Tame the Lions in Your Life - Dealing with Complainers, Bullies, Grump and Curmudgeon." Merritt noted "we are too busy for our own good." She shared how her overachieving personality had impacted her life.  Audience members then were asked to pick red, yellow, blue, or green shapes, without knowing that each one represented a specific personality trait.  For example, those who picked blue were the peacemakers. Those who choose yellow were social - the hint was to "Be Quiet Longer."  She then offered these "lion taming" steps:   1.    Admit It 2.    Accept It 3.    Let Go 4.    Be Present (which paralleled Gupta's IKIGAI concept)   When thinking about underwriting I encourage you to be present in the moment and think creatively, but don't be afraid to look ahead to the future and be an innovator.  I hope to see you at next year's AHOU Annual Conference, May 1-4, 2011 at The Mirage in Las Vegas, Nev.     Susan Keuer is the product strategy manager for new business underwriting.  She brings more than 20 years of insurance industry experience working with leading insurance carriers and technology companies to her role on the product strategy team for life/annuities solutions within the Oracle Insurance Global Business Unit

  • XNA Notes 007

    - by George Clingerman
Every week I keep wondering if there’s going to be enough activity in the community to keep doing these notes on a weekly basis and every week I’m reminded of just how awesome and active the XNA community is. There’s engines being made, tutorials being created, games being crafted. There’s information being shared, questions being answered and then there’s another whole community around the Xbox LIVE Indie Games themselves. It’s really incredibly to just watch all that’s going on and I’m glad I’m playing a small part in all of this. So here’s what I noticed happening in the XNA community last week.
