• Wamp website stop responding till restarting services [on hold]

  My first message here after many non conclusive research about my problem. So I'm administering a drupal website and I have migrate all application to new version: PHP 5.3.5 - 5.4.16 Apache 2.2.17 - 2.4.4 MySQL 5.1.36 - 5.6.12 With the new Wamp version. Also update Drupal from 6.19 to 6.30. I have update it by uninstalling everything in the server and reinstalling the new version. Since this update the website sometimes become unresponsive till we restart wamp. No warrning and no error in event log. Can somebody help me with this problem? I also cannot enable SSL, after configuring it wamp won't start. I have do many research and test but I still have many issue. • How to stop Windows 7 from automatically connecting to unsecure wifi network

  One of my neighbors has an unsecure wifi network called WLAN. At one point in the past, I accidentally connected to it, and disconnected immediately when I noticed. Now, when I open my laptop at home, it sometimes connects to the WLAN network first, before trying my (secured) home wifi network. The information I've found regarding this issue seems to suggest this network should have a profile on the "Manage wireless networks" screen - but it does not. How do I tell Windows 7 to never connect to networks with SSIDs called WLAN? Or to never connect to unsecured networks without confirming with me first?

• What program is making this sound and how can I make it stop

  Some program is intermittently making this weird "chook ... chick" sound, no more than every 5 minutes, but sometimes hours or days between making it. There seems to be no pattern as to when it happens, but the sound is definitely coming from the speakers, and is always the same, so I'm pretty confident some piece of software I'm running is playing the sound. Today, I managed to record it, and I've posted it here: http://tristanhavelick.com/chook-chick.mp3 Short of closing my programs one by one, and seeing if the sound continues, are there any tricks for tracking down a problem like this? Is there any software that can trace what sounds come from what programs (something like tcpview with waveforms)? I am running windows xp.

• Stop a particular key getting captured by rdesktop

  Hello, I want F12 to be not capture by my rdesktop while in fullscreen, so that I can do whatever stuff I'm doing on my remote Windows computer, but pressing F12 would bring down yakuake, and I can type down my commands, or use vim etc for whatever I'm doing. Is there any possible way to do this? I tried playing with keymaps, but that didn't help. I set F12 to inhibit, but that seems to have stopped sending F12 altogether, rather than let gnome catch it and let yakuake pop up. Would be really grateful for answers. I am ready to do my homework, if someone could please just give me pointers etc. Thanks :). Sidenote: My current arranement stems from my large monitor in lab, and small personal laptop monitor, and the laptop has Windows 7. My lab computer has Linux, on which I do my coding work.

  I've got some issues with a new system. It's rebooting constantly. The system consists of a: brand new: Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3V with F9 BIOS (latest) Intel Core i5-3470 Ivy Bridge 2x 8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 1600MHz memory (mem-tested x-86) coming from a stable system: Creative Soundcard X-FI Titanium Asus Radeon HD4850 OCZ Vertex 3 120G SSD Sata 3 Hard disk 1TB Sata 2 ASUS Blu-ray Drive PSU 400w Connected peripherals : Toshiba tv (displayport on dvi of MB or HD4850) Wired mouse, wireless keyboard (logitech) Bluetooth usb key Azio main problem : it's not possible to read the errors from the MB. nothing on the manual neither on internet. At the beginning, I received a MB with graphic problems and the problem of rebooting. I RMA'd it. The new one doesn't have any graphic problems. but it's still constantly rebooting. I removed everything except the HD, the sound-card, the blu-ray drive and the wireless keyboard. It's still unexpectdly rebooting. I'm running a test with just the motherboard and the HD. I will update this text after the test. I've got some questions : Somebody have an idea of a test? The PSU could cause that problem? I used it a lot of years with the stable system. Update 1: BTW, if anyone has the same problem, the manual won't say it but you'll need to reset the bios between two tests (the screwdriver on the two pins) if you suspect a problem of compatibility .

  On my Windows Vista PC, there is always an instance of "GoogleUpdate.exe" running. I find this annoying, so I'd like to make sure it doesn't start automatically. This proves to be not so easy, as I have tried these solutions: I disabled the "Google updateservice" service I removed the registry section "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Google Update" None of these worked. The registry section is simply re-added. Does anyone know the trick to avoid GoogleUpdate.exe to be started after booting the system?

• How to stop mouse "pausing".

  My Microsoft mouse recently stopped working, so I purchased an AOpen O-35G, plug and play. No software came with it and I was advised to "just plug it in". I did this, and it worked, although some of the more advanced features do not work. My problem is that now the mouse cursor hesitates occasionally, and then over shoots the target I selected. This never happened before. It seems to happen when I am using the mouse and a browser window reloads. Does anyone know how to change this? It is very annoying. XP Pro SP3 Thanks. EDIT: It is not a problem of dust or a hair. I have contacted the Manufacturere and they are not responding. I have the mouse attached to my computer via a powered USB hub. I am going to try plugging it in directly to see if that makes a difference.

  I have a CentOS 5.8 machine (with regular syslog) that for some reason is listening to port 514, even though it is not started with "-r" (to receive remote syslog messages). # netstat -tulpn | grep 514 udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:514 0.0.0.0:* 2698/syslogd Syslog is started with only "-m 0": ps -ef | grep syslogd root 2698 1 0 15:55 ? 00:00:00 syslogd -m 0 I have tried starting it with "-m 0 -r", just to check if there was any difference, but there is not. This machine is a client and should only log to a central log server - it should not be listening itself. What am I missing?

While this is useful if you're trying to check if your mic is working, it's annoying when you're trying to have a conversion. Constantly trying to filter out your own voice.   I'm using the EXPORT feature in Hyper-V to move a large Virtual Machine (VM) over a 1GB network from a Windows 2008 to a Windows 2008 R2 box (200GB) and its so intense that I get the following icon on my destination Hyper-V manager: Is this expected? Is there another way to get large file across the network and minimize this intense I/O effect? Anyones else ever seen that Do Not Enter sign? The other VMs are functional but slow, but I'm guessing that is expected.

• How do I stop VLC from stealing my volume buttons

  when I press the volume buttons on my laptop, usually the system volume is changed. However, when I do this with VLC it "steals" the presses and adjusts it's own "volume" instead. The system volume is also changed. I can't find any way to turn this off in VLC. Does anyone know? Update: Sorry, some more details I should have included originally: VLC VERSION: 1.1.4 (and a few previous releases, back to about 1.1.0 or so, I think) OS: Win Vista Pro 32 HARDWARE: Dell 1720 laptop (the volume buttons are little buttons on the front of the unit, they may work something like "media" keyboard volume buttons) Update: The buttons seem to map to Ctrl+Alt+b and Ctrl+Alt+c (according to the shortcut key box in windows shortcut properties) but the VLC advanced preferences hotkeys screen doesn't list these as the keys it uses for volume. I changed it so there are no volume hotkeys in VLC settings - no luck it still steals the presses and adjusts the volume. Also, pressing Ctrl+Alt+b or c doesn't change my system volume, so who knows what windows or VLC are doing to recognise those volume buttons. :(

So after each reboot I have to click "Don't send" countless times, for crashes that happened weeks before. How can the display of these error messages be stopped? • DFS - Stop sync of large folder that has since been removed

  We have a site to site DFSR on Windows Server 2008 R2 that has been running perfectly between site A to site B until someone dumped a 20GB folder. This has overwhelmed the upload and make the internet almost useless at site A (the upload is low at the branch office). We have removed this folder from the DFS share on site A, however the internet is still really slow. Is there any way to cancel this sync or other way to get DFSR back in to a happy state?

• MySQL won't stop doing stuff

  Sorry for the title of the question, here's my problem: I've been trying to set up some scripts that import a lot of stuff hourly from an external source. They seemed to work fine, so I set up a cronjob to run them every hour. One day later I find six or seven instances of that script just hogging the MySQL server, making it unresponsive. I killed their processes, but MySQL was still not responding. I had to kill MySQL, reboot and then MySQL started working again (who knows on what) and being unresponsive (yes, I did remove the scripts from the cronjobs). I SHOW PROCESSLISTed and killed every process I could find. Still nothing, MySQL is hogging the HDD and is at the top of top and making the server load go up in the sky. I don't know what to do, if I kill and start it again it will probably do the same thing. What should I do?

  When I'm away from my office mac I typically login via screen-sharing or VNC from home/another mac. Lately, after using screen sharing this way, my office mac will have several problems: Command+tab and Command+` no longer work Expose and other F-key functions no longer work ctrl+space to launch Google QSB no longer works Things I have tried to remedy this: Restarting the Finder process Restarting the Dock process Disabling the screensaver Unfortunately, the screensaver still runs... A connected issue? Deleting preference files for Dock/Finder/screensaver etc. The only thing that seems to work is a restart. I usually try and avoid that. System details: Macbook pro 13" OS v10.5.8

  Whenever I open an existing document in Word 2007 (on Windows XP), word turns on track changes, and changes the display mode to "Final" (that is, not "Final Showing Markup" -- so I often don't even notice track changes is on if I don't remember to pay attention. This happens for ALL existing documents, and doesn't happen for new documents. I can't find any option in the configuration that would control this behavior. I would like to restore the original/default behavior where documents are opening with Track Changes off, and in "Final showing markup" display. Steps to Reproduce Open Word 2007. Create a new document. Verify that track changes is off. Save the document and close Word. Open the document (either directly or through Word). Track changes is now on. Any ideas?

• Need to use wusa to stop endless rebooting on R2

  I installed 3 updates, which after rebooting resulted in a reboot loop, never going past the "configuring your computer for windows" stage. Last known good configuration, safe mode etc make no difference (as expected). I have no system restore images available. I used dism to uninstall one of the updates, but the other two appear to be MSP patches, and so I cannot use dism to uninstall them. From what I have been reading it appears I must use wusa, however wusa does not seem to be included in WinRE. Does anyone have a suggestion of how I can access wusa to uninstall these updates, and hopefully reverse this problem?

• Printer spooler service stop running when sent print job

  Every time i am sending a print job to the printer, i am don't get any response from the printer, and at the printer job list at the status of the job, i see that there was an Error, but it don't give me any clue on what could be the problem. After some investigation i found that every time that i send the print job to the printer the printer spooler service stops to run, then after a second or two it start again (i think that this behavior is related to the printer spooler settings to rerun it self after it stops). Things that i have tried so far: Remove and Install again the Driver. After removing the driver, i have removed the unnecessary registry keys according to this article from Microsoft, these are: Rename all files and folders in: c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 Remove anything but Drivers Print and Processors: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environment\Windows NT x86 Remove anything in here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors but: BJ Language Monitor Local Port Microsoft Document Imaging Writer Monitor Microsoft Shared Fax Monitor Standard TCP/IP Port USB Monitor WSD Port Disconnect and Reconnect the Printer. Clean the computer from Viruses & Spywares. Currently i am stuck, i have no more things to try, if anybody know about any kind of solution please let me know about it. Since i am want to keep this post as general problem that relate to the printer spooler, and not just my particular problem, i didn't included inside the windows version & the printer model, they are (although i think that it isn't relate just for that particular model): Windows 7 32bit, HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m (connect to the computer via USB). • Need a solution to stop students from rotating screen on laptops with intel graphics

  We have some students who have figured out how to rotate the screen using either the hotkey combination or right click context menu. It's easy to fix but it's time consuming because no matter how many times I tell people how to fix it there's always someone that will come up to me. Now I need two things. First, is there a way to disable screen rotation? Second, I need a script to reset the screen resolution to normal on logon and logoff. The solutions need to be able to be deployed from a Win2003 server to WinXP clients. I have way too many computers to go through by hand to uncheck enable hot keys on the intel control panel.
