• Why do all my sites randomly stop in iis?

  I have a GoDaddy Account with a virtual hosting environment. For some reason every few weeks, all of our sites (both websites and FTP sites) are stopped. I restart them and they start normally, but I would like to prevent this from happening in the future. It is an iis thing. When you open up iis you can see that each of the sites has been stopped in iis. Also, I have tried looking at the event viewer and I don't see anything, but I am not sure what I am looking for.

• Host not visible in ECC after pushing master agent on server

  Hi all!! ECC master Agent has been pushed to one of the servers.. Once a Master Agent installed the host should appear within ECC.However, I am unable to see the host. I asked the Server team to stop and start the master agent ,and to check whether required port is enabled, so that server can talk with ECC server. After restarting the service I get an error.I even checked if the port is used by any other service ,it is not.. Somebody plz help what should done here..it’s a Windows server. Here's the error:- "The EMC control Center Master agent service on local computer atrted and the stopped.Some services stopped automatically if they 've no work to do,for example prformance logs and alert services" Thanks in advance!!

• Is it my motherboard?

  Early this week my home server (a Linux machine) threw a kernel panic. Yesterday is happened a couple of times. Then all of a sudden, when I plugged a USB stick in to run a memory test, the monitor stopped coming on. Now whenever I turn it on, the system gets power...I heard the drives spin, I see the processor fan spin, and the hard drive light comes on...but nothing happens. I put a video card in the AGP slot, but still nothing. The light on the power button that usually comes on stopped coming on. I took the memory out to see if it would beep, but nothing beeped. It's like it's getting power, but it's not coming on. Does this sound like a motherboard problem to anyone else? I think it is, but a second opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

• "Directory index forbidden by Options directive" when deleting or renaming folders through webdav

  I am trying to delete folders through webdav but all I get is 403 on the client and "Directory index forbidden by Options directive" in the Apache error log. I enabled "options indexes" for the folder and I stopped getting the errors in either the client or the log, but I still can't rename or delete folders through webdav. Any ideas why I'm unable to edit folders through webdav? I am running WAMP, default installation with Apache 2.2.17. I can connect, create files, delete files, rename them, etc. I can create folders but not delete them or rename them, once they're created. On the access log, whenever I try to delete, I get this: "DELETE /uploads/shahs HTTP/1.1" 301 243 On the error log, I get: Directory index forbidden by Options directive: The Webdav client gives a 403 when trying to delete or rename folders. Once, I added "options indexes," I stopped getting the error message in the Apache error log and the 403 on the webdav client, but now, deleting or renaming does nothing. No error messages, but nothing happens, at all.

• Dell Latitude E6400 power button and wireless not working or only working intermittently

  The power button on the laptop stopped working randomly as of a day or two ago. I can only power the laptop on if its attached to a docking station, on which I can use the power button to turn on/off the laptop. Today the wireless card stopped working (the wifi light does not turn on, even after I turn on the wireless switch). What is the problem and how can I fix it? The laptop is about 1 year old. I have not dropped it, but do carry it around a good amount, including docking it/undocking it frequently.

• Win Server 2008: Task Scheduler runs programs twice or late

  Hi, I need to restart a service every day. I have logon hours restricted at 3:00 am, and the server will logout existing TS connections. I have two tasks scheduled: "Daily At 3:20 am every day" "start a program" "c:\windows\system32\sc.exe stop myservice" "Daily At 3:22 am every day" "start a program" "c:\windows\system32\sc.exe start myservice" I came in today to notice that the service wasn't running. I've been digging in logs, and found these entries: For stop task, history: a) 3:29:35 am: Action Completed (sc result code 0) b) 3:20:00 am: Action Completed (sc result code 0) For start task, history: a) 3:29:35 am: Action Completed (sc result code ERROR_SERVICE_ALREADY_RUNNING 1056 (0x420)) b) 3:22:01 am: Action Completed (sc result code 0) Checking event logs shows me: a) 3:29:35 am, Application log, Source myservice, "The service was stopped" b) 3:29:25 am, System log, Source Service Control Manager, "The myservice service entered the stopped state" So, What would have caused both tasks to run at 3:29 am? Why don't I see a message from the SCM saying that the service entered the running state? Is this the preferred way to do this? Thanks!

• One user sometimes gets an unknown certificate error opening Outlook

  Let me clarify a little. This isn't an unknown certificate error it's an unknown certificate error in so much as I can't figure out where the certificate comes from. This happens on a Win 7 Enterprise machine connecting to Exchange 2010 with Outlook 2010. The error he gets is that the root is not trusted because it's a self-signed cert. Take a look at this screenshot because even if I had generated this myself I wouldn't have put "SomeOrganizationalUnit" or "SomeCity" or "SomeState", etc. (Red block covers our domain name.) I'm a little concerned this is a symptom of a security breach. Exchange 2010 has three certificates installed but none of them are this certificate. They all have different expiration dates (one is expired) and different meta-data. edit: There are two scenarios that I see the certificate warning and one of them I can reliably repeat. When the user leaves his computer on over night Outlook pops the Security Warning window. I don't know what time this happens. Using Outlook Anywhere if I connect to Exchange externally via a cellular USB modem the Security Warning window will appear every time I close and reopen Outlook. Whether I say Yes or No does not make a difference on whether or not I can connect to Exchange and send/receive email. In other words, I can always connect to Exchange. I've checked my two Exchange servers and my Cisco router for a certificate that matches this one and I can't find it. edit 2: Here is a screenshot of the Security Alert window. (I've been calling it Security Warning... My mistake.) edit 3: I stopped seeing this error several weeks ago but I can't tie it to any single event (because I just sort of realized that warning had stopped showing up) but I think I found the source of the certificate. Last week I found out that the certificate on our website DomainA.com was invalid. I knew that our web admin had installed a valid certificate so when I look into the problem I found out I was being presented with the invalid certificate that this posting is in regards to. The Exchange server's domain is mail.DomainA.com so I can only guess that Outlook was passing this invalid certificate through as it did some kind of check on DomainA.com. This issue is still a mystery because the certificate warning stopped appearing several weeks ago whereas the invalid certificate issue on the website was only fixed last week. It ended up being a problem with the website control panel. The valid certificate was installed but not being served for some reason and instead the self-signed cert was being served.

• wifi connection turns off oll the time

  Hello! I realy need help with one strange problem. I have a wifi network in my appartment with wireless N home router Trendnet tew-652BRP. Everething work fine for three of my laptops, but I have one PC with D-Link DWA-140 adapter. It looses connection 2-3 times in 5 minutes. There is following messages in my system log when it does so: The browser has forced an election on network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{9537A5C1-3B43-4C56-B94C-CE69A257C3AD} because a master browser was stopped. The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service was successfully sent a stop control. The reason specified was: 0x40030011 [Operating System: Network Connectivity (Planned)] Comment: None The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service entered the stopped state. in order of appearence. How can I stop it? I have the latest driver installed.

  Related to my older question: Get xp product key from boot Thanks for the help on that one. So, in the end, i couldn't get into my harddrive because i didn't have the available hardware to hook it up to another computer to get the old activation key. So, instead, i entered another activation key (i know, naughty) in hopes that there would be a way to retrieve the old one, restore point or something afterwords. What legal ways can I get xp re-activated after a repair when I don't have any record of my activation key? for those who think im just trying to crack it, your wrong: Got a virus, which stopped me from getting into windows Got AVG Anti Virus, which stopped me from getting into safe mode Got a 2 year old, who decided to rip-off and chew my activation sticker on my computer (nice one). • Sound card issues (High Definition Audio Controller)

  I have a 5-year-old Acer Aspire 4520. Until a month back it was working beautifully on Windows 7 32bit. But then out of the blue, the sound stopped working. I've tried reinstalling the OS 3-4 times. The sound came back a couple of times, but it stopped working after a reboot. Even after installing the sound drivers, I don't see any entry in the Playback tab of the Sound applet in Control Panel. I see a High Definition Audio Controller entry in Device Manager. I disabled and uninstalled it, but Windows reinstalls it automatically. I'll share specific hardware details if anybody here needs to know. The processor is "AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55". Any help would be appreciated.

• Remotely start VNC server on computer with no Admin password

  I'm trying to remotely access a particular computer of mine and it seems that VNC has stopped. I can tell that the computer is still running because I can VNC into another machine on the same network and can see my target machine under the Network section in Windows Explorer and can also ping it succesfully. To summarize: I own the target computer I am currently too far to physically access it Remote Desktop Connection feature of Windows is not enabled The computer normally runs a VNC server, but it seems to have stopped The computer is definitely on and connected to the network The computer has no password on the Admin account I can VNC into other computers on the same LAN Given these conditions how can I get into the target to open VNC server, or even just reboot the target (VNC should open on startup)?   I have set up several servers with IIS and connected them to the load balancer - server with installed IIS Application Request Routing. I have created a server farm and added two servers. Then I stopped IIS on the first server and tried to open my web site. It returned me an error: 502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server. But if instead of stopping IIS I shut down the first server, I'm getting a response from the next server which is online. The question is, what the expected behaviour should be for failover with ARR, should it switch me to the next server if IIS is stopped and server is online?

• Opening up a link in a new tab in Firefox doesn't show address

  Sometimes for some reason, connection to a new link/address takes a long time to establish. In Firefox 11.0, the address bar will keep showing "about:blank". I take this as normal, and let me know if it isn't. If the connection is stopped for some reason, I will not be able to find out the address that I was trying to connect to. I wonder how to find out that address, both before and after the connection is stopped at "about:blank"? Thanks and regards!

Then I tried the same external HDD on my Ubuntu and it detected it just fine. Ubuntu and Windows 7 are on the same laptop. I have dual boot. Can someone tell me why is it happening? Am I missing a driver in Windows 7? Additional info: 1. This drive has worked perfectly fine in the past. 2. I did not format this drive ever. 3. It just stopped working yesterday in windows.

  I have a running ubuntu server 10.04.1. When I tried to login to the server via ssh, I could not. Instead, I got connection refused error. I tried to ping the machine and I got reply! So, the clear reason is that SSH daemon is stopped. After reboot, I was able to login to my server via ssh.   I try to open an AVI file. The first software I tried is VLC media player. It reports some error about AVI index: This AVI file is broken. Seeking will not work correctly. Do you want to try to fix it? This might take a long time. I chose yes, and it began fixing AVI index and existed when the repair progress bar reaches 20% or so. Then the video started playing and stopped much earlier than when it is supposed to finish. Next I tried to open it in Totem Movie Player, which also stopped earlier at the same place as in VLC player. I tried to play it in GMplayer. Now the entire AVI file can be played from start to finish, but it is impossible to drag playing progress bar while it was possible in VLC player and Totem player. I heard that Avidemux can fix AVI index error, but later discovered it failed to open the AVI file. So I was wondering how I can fix the AVI index error, or at least drag the playing progress bar in GMplayer? Thanks and regards!

• Missing /dev/xconsole causes rsyslog to stop as well as all other services

  We are running Ubuntu-10.04.04LTS in Hyper-V environments. We found that the services ssh http or anything else stopped because the rsyslog daemon had died with the message unable to find the /dev/xconsole file. I fixed it temporarily with the following. FILE=/dev/xconsole if [ -e $FILE ]; then echo "$FILE exists Carry on!" else mknod -m 640 /dev/xconsole c 1 3 chown syslog:adm /dev/xconsole echo "Created $FILE." fi The problem is that I can not get rsyslog daemon to process these 8 lines when I restart the daemon. Also restarting the daemon removes the /dev/xconsole file and we are back to all service stopped. In addressing this problem I have inserted the if--fi lines after the start and restart conditions in the rsyslog script. The problem is I do not get an echo to stdio. Does someone have an idea on how to make the rsyslog report to stdio when it creates the /dev/xconsole device. Thanks George Van Tuyl

  Ubuntu 12.04 has problem with Intel GM45 Chipset, featuring the the Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD I have a COMPAQ Presario CQ70 laptop with an Intel GM45 chipset that features the Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD. I was using the second HDMI video port to drive both a projector or a second monitor. Everything was working fine under Ubuntu 8.04, 9.04, 10.04 and 11.04, however, when I upgraded to 12.04 the second monitor stopped working. What I mean when I say stopped working is: boot with monitor plugged in. Blank screen! Power off, unplug monitor and power on everything works. Plug in monitor (only mode that works in Mirror mode) two monitors that look same. Close laptop lid. screen goes blank only option for useful system is power off and unplug monitor. If I attempt to Adjust the monitor to maximum resolution that the monitor will handle and turn off mirror mode nothing can be moved onto that screen. This all worked fine with earlier versions of Ubuntu, is there a notes about the changes to the graphics management system in 12.04, like there is for the resolver change?

• Which programming language should i choose? (much more info inside) [closed]

  I am not completely sure if this is the right place to put this question, but since it's the programming thread I guessed that there's many experienced programmers here. :) Ok, hello! My name is Andreas and I am a 16 years old guy from Norway. For some time now I've wanted to learn a programming language. Six months ago I started learning C++, but quit withing a week due to lack of motivation. The same thing happend only 2 months ago when I tried to learn Lua. I wanted to program mods to the game Garry's mod, and was really motivated. Then I stopped playing the game, and the programming stopped with it. Today though I am ready again. The only difference is that I am not completely sure what I want to do with the language. I only want to create something, and I miss the progress of failing and enduring hard work until I finally solve the problem I've worked on for hours. What I am trying to say is; Is there any program out there that allows me, a complete noob (I didn't learn that much in a week, so I like to call myself a beginner), to create apps, mods or something similar but at the same time being qualified as a first time language? I was thinking of Java, because Android, Minecraft and many other applications and games use it. But I've heard that it is going to be replaced by a program called HTML 5 (whatever that is), is this true? I certainly don't want to spend many hours of my life on something that is useless in a year or two. Hopefully I didn't make this too complicated. I know that it is hard to recommend something when I don't have a goal, but I really don't know what to say.
