• jquery li with image fade in background (fade in class)

    - by steve
I'm currently using this code: var gallery = $('ul#gallery').children(); $(gallery).filter(':even').not(':last').hover(function () {$(this).toggleClass('next')}); I'm trying to make it fade this new class in. Currently, there's an
with an image in it, no background. When the 'next' class is added, it gives it a background image when hovered over. Is there a way to just fade in the new class without making the image blink/fade at all? Thanks.

  • Anchor bug on IE9, anchor hitbox overlapped

    - by user1456399
The menu below works just fine in Firefox and Chrome, but in IE9, but hitbox for the "HOME" anchor is being covered partially by the list item behind it except for the actual test, and a single horizontal pixel line at the top and bottom of the button. Can anyone see what I'm missing? Code to follow: index.html

Navigation

This is a link

This is a link

Not a link

Not a link

Not a link

EDIT: Alright, I've changed the code to isolate the issue, and narrowed down the problem CSS. Simply adding a background image fixes the issue. The code is set up so it styles so the hit boxes for all the menu items are the same regardless if there's a link in them or not to facilitate an "onClick" drop down on those menu items without anchors. Refer to lines 81 - 86. Remove those lines (just a background image), and the hit box issue is seen in the menu items "NOT A LINK" as well. Further, the act of adding a background image fixes the hit box issue of "THIS IS A LINK" menu items. Simply add the following snippet to the CSS: .menu-navigation > li > span > a { background:url("../img/down.png") no-repeat right center; } Adding a background image, even if there is no actual image, is changing something with regards to the hit box... I'm just not sure what...

What is happening though is that when I move onto the language list, and I go past Germany (~50% down the list?), the hover() loses focus and closes the original menu, which closes the language menu. Any idea's what is causing the issue? Any ideas how to fix the issue? I have tried the hoverIntent() plugin as well to no avail.

  • I just don't know what it is, tried everything, IE 7 bug

    - by Emmy
Has anyone seen this bug? I have a sidebar with a ul nav background image for the hover state, floated right, looks great in all browsers. Then...I added another div underneath it for ad space. inside, there's an anchored image. That image tucks underneath the background image of the nav, but only in IE7 (i abandoned trying to please ie6). So I took it out of the sidebar, played with float, display, height hacks, but nothing works I can declare a large top margin with some more top padding do get it to clear but it breaks the design. i even tried creating a div called clear and put a top margin there. so it displays with this huge gap in chrome, FF, safari but this tiny space between in IE. i even tried creating a div called clear and put a top margin there. I have spent hours trying to find someone with the same problem but to no avail. Any suggestions? Here's a code snippet:

expat lifestyle

travel tips

bts/mrt

bus system

vans/taxis

boats/klong

boats/klong

tuk-tuks

trains

int'l airport

dangers

fun places

shopping

<a href="astore.amazon.com/ten044-20"; title="Shop WIB store">
the corresponding CSS: #leftsidebar { float:right; width: 210px; margin: 40px 0 0 0; padding: 0; height:1%; } #store { margin: 20px 0px 0 0px; padding: 0 10px 0 0; float: right; height: 1%; display: inline; } And an image:

  • jquery select problem

    - by codedude
Say I have an unordered list like so:

Some Text

Some Text

Some Text

Some Text

I want to use jquery so that when I click a "li", the background changes to blue. So I do this: $('li').click(function() { $(this).addClass('active'); }); And the "active" class has as background of blue. However, I can't figure out how to make it so that when I click another "li", the other "li" that has a background of blue stops having a background of blue. I guess what I'm trying to say is how to make only one "li" have a background of blue at a time--using jquery.

  • Put text directly to the left of an

    - by Horace Loeb
I have a list of songs, and I want to put the word "New!" to the left of the new songs like this: How can I do this so that all the songs line up? I.e., I want the names of songs that aren't new to line up with the names of songs that are new, not with the start of the word "New" Note that this is trivial if "New!" is an image. I.e., I set the image as the background-image of the
and give it some padding-left

  • Checking for length of ul and removing an li element

    - by Legend
I am trying to remove the last
element from a
element only if it exceeds a particular length. For this, I am doing something like this: var selector = "#ulelement" if($(selector).children().length > threshold) { $(selector + " >:last").remove(); } I don't like the fact that I have to use the selector twice. Is there a shorter way to do this? Something like a "remove-if-length-greater-than-threshold" idea. I was thinking that maybe there is a way to do this using the live() function but I have no idea how.

  • IE7 CSS bug aligning with text in a

    - by Artem Russakovskii
I've been banging my ahead on this IE7 bug for the last few days and it's time to resort to the mind of the crowd. I have the following HTML and CSS: http://beerpla.net/for_www/ie7_test/test.html The goal is to have a
, with each
containing a small icon and some text. Multiline text would be aligned to itself and not wrap under the image. I've tried using float:left on the image and a bunch of other things, and finally I thought the position:absolute would work for sure but in IE7 I consistently see the text pop off to the next line and get misaligned with the image: This is what I expect it to look like: I even tried to make the div display:inline which kind of worked but then started wrapping under the image for long lines, so it was no good. zoom:1 also produced a similar effect. I'm at a loss at the moment. This code works fine in all other browsers. IE7 is a special, very special child. Any ideas? Thank you. Edit: If you have IE8, you can emulate IE7 by pressing F12 and then Alt-7.

Thanks in advance!

  • li + float crashes IE6

    - by DMin
I know. The dreaded ugly browser we don't want to support, but, it seems it couldn't be simpler to crash this thing. The URL The images gallery is a Joomla Plugin(Sigplus) and works fine with all other standard browsers. In IE it was not showing correctly, all the images were showing in one line vertically one below the other. But the browser would not hang or crash and the gallery worked as well. This is a Joomla plugin and I didn't want to mess with how it works, so, for IE I added a simple rule in the header : This fixed the issue and the gallery shows up as it should. But, as you scroll down, as you reach the last row of images IE hangs and crashes. I tried deleting the last 5 images thinking it was something to do with the images themselves. But now it hangs on the current last row and crashes. Know what it could be?

Ok, I've looked all over for a solution for this but so far I'm unable to find anything related to what I need to accomplish. What I need is very simple as far as logic goes. I have a nav bar like this one:

Download

Documentation

Contact

About

And the URLs of the site are straightforward: http://domain.net/download.shtml http://domain.net/documentation.shtml http://domain.net/contact.shtml http://domain.net/about.shtml Question: How can I detect which page/URL I'm on and add a class of .active to the corresponding nav item? The end result would be, for example if I'm in the Download page:

Download

Documentation

Contact

About

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

  • jQuery Grouping Similar Items w/ Object Literal

    - by NessDan
So I have this structure setup:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dw1Vh9Yzryo
(Vid1)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOF3o8B292U
(Vid2)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAY4vNJd7A8
(Vid3)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAY4vNJd7A8

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dw1Vh9Yzryo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOF3o8B292U

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAY4vNJd7A8

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dw1Vh9Yzryo

Vid1 is repeated 3 times, Vid2 is repeated 3 times, and Vid3 is repeated 2 times. I want to put them into a structure where I can reference them like this: youtube[0][repeated] = 3; youtube[0][download] = "http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=dw1Vh9Yzryo&fmt=36" youtube[1][repeated] = 3; youtube[1][download] = "http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=bOF3o8B292U&fmt=36" youtube[2][repeated] = 3; youtube[2][download] = "http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=yAY4vNJd7A8&fmt=36" "This video was repeated " + youtube[0][repeated] + " times and you can download it here: " + youtube[0][download]; How can I set this multidimensional array up? Been Googling for hours and I don't know how to set it up. Can anyone help me out?

  • drop down menu will not display outside containing div in IE7..

    - by playahabana
    I am tearing my hair out over this, I have a dropdown menu using CSS and jQuery (thanks to Soh Tanaka) and it works perfectly in Firefox, Safari, Google chrome and I.E. 8, but in IE 7 it will not drop down outside the 'Banner div'. It drops below the nav div however. I have moved the nav div higher in the banner the result is the same, menu drops until it reaches the border of the banner div and then vanishes.... Below is the css. This is my first website and I have some limited understanding of what I am doing. The drop down menu includes transparent png's as links (I know, I know...but it's what the Boss wants...) please could someone take a quick scan at the below CSS and let me know what is wroong? Is this some form of the IE z-index bug? i have tried all different combinations of z-index and still I can't get a different result. . The html is below as well. Thankyou in advance #banner { position: relative; width: 62.5em; height: 12em; background-color: #46280A; background-image: url('images/includes/banner2.jpg'); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: center; -moz-box-shadow: -4px 6px 8px #000; -webkit-box-shadow: -4px 6px 8px #000; box-shadow: -4px 6px 8px #000; /* For IE 8 */ -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Shadow(Strength=8, Direction=225, Color='#000000')"; /* For IE 5.5 - 7 */ filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Shadow(Strength=8, Direction=225, Color='#000000'); z-index: 1; } /*------------------------------------SCROLLER---------------------------------------------*/ #headlines{ position: absolute; top: 1.3em; right: 2.75em; overflow: hidden; height: 2.5em; width: 24em; background-color: #000000; display: block; z-index: 3; } #news{ position: relative; height: 3.1em; line-height: 2.5em; font-size: 0.8em color: #FFFF99; white-space: nowrap; overflow: hidden; font-family: Georgia,Arial; } #scrollerglass{ position: absolute; top: 0.95em; right: 2em; height: 52px; width: 410px; border: none; padding: 0.2em 0em 0em 0em; line-height: 0.7em; text-align: center; background-image: url('images/includes/scrollerglass.png'); background-color: transparent; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: center; opacity: 20; z-index: 10; } #scrollerglass a i { visibility: hiddn ; } /-------------------------------------NAVIGATION-----------------------------------------/ #nav { position: absolute; top: 5.8em; left: 0.2em; font-family: trebuchet, sans-serif; font-size: 1em; line-height: 3.75em; text-align: center; color: #FFFF00; z-index: 3; } ul.navlist { list-style: none; padding: 0em; margin: 1em; float: left; width: 62.5em; background: transparent; font-size: 1em; } ul.navlist li { position: relative; /*--Declare X and Y axis base for sub navigation--*/ float: left; margin: 0em 1.4em; padding: 0em 0.7em 0em 0em; z-index: 1; } ul.navlist li a{ display: block; text-decoration: none; float: left; border: 0px solid; } ul.navlist li img{ border: 0px solid; } ul.navlist li span { trigger styles--*/ width: 1.2em; height: 5.25em; float: left; background: url(images/links/downlogo.png) no-repeat center top; } ul.navlist li span.subhover { background-position: center bottom; cursor: pointer; } ul.navlist li ul.navdrop { list-style: none; position: absolute; float: left; top: 5.3em; left: -2.4em; height: 15.0em; width: 11.25em; margin: 0; padding: 0.5em 0em 0em 0em; display: none; background-position: center; background-image: url('images/includes/slider.jpg'); background-color: transparent; background-repeat: no-repeat; -moz-box-shadow: -4px 6px 8px #000; -webkit-box-shadow: -4px 6px 8px #000; box-shadow: -4px 6px 8px #000; /* For IE 8 */ -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Shadow(Strength=8, Direction=225, Color='#000000')"; /* For IE 5.5 - 7 */ filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Shadow(Strength=8, Direction=225, Color='#000000'); z-index:1; } ul.navlist li ul.navdrop li{ margin: 0em 2.3em 0em 0em; padding: 1em 0em 0em 0em; width: 8em; clear: both; } html ul.navlist li ul.navdrop li a { border: 0px solid; width: 11.25em; } html ul.navlist li ul.navdrop li a:hover { background: transparent; }

Whatever we want to promote

  ------s-c-r-o-l-l-e-r - - - -l-i-n-k-s--------

------s-c-r-o-l-l-e-r - - - -l-i-n-k-s------

  • CSS Positioning Issues: Wordpress

    - by cam
I'm following this tutorial here http://www.kriesi.at/archives/create-a-multilevel-dropdown-menu-with-css-and-improve-it-via-jquery on adding a menu with jquery. I've created my menu, but I'm having trouble adding it to wordpress. I opened up the header.php file since I want it to appear below the banner, and I paste it in it's own div, but it always "pushes" everything below it to the right. How do I stop it from doing this? Here's the code:

1 HTML

2 CSS

3 Javascript

3.1 jQuery

3.1.1 Download

3.1.2 Tutorial

3.2 Mootools

3.3 Prototype

  • Z-index vs Accessibility

    - by MetalAdam
Here's a simplification of my code that I'm having problems with, in regards to layering.

Option 1

link

link

link

Option 2

link

link

link

My issue is that submenu2 seems to be above Option 1. I have tried to give them appropriate z-indexes, but they don't seem to work... I'm assuming because submenu2 is a child of Option 2, and has no relevance to Option 1. Any idea of any work around that would help resolve my issue? I'm using large graphics for most of these links, so the overlapping is quite obvious.

  • Help with Collapse and Expand Accordion at same time using JQuery (demo)

    - by Evan
I'm stuck on an Expand/Collapse accordion using JQuery. After the initial headline is clicked and it expands, if you click to another headline it will collapse the former headline completely FIRST then it will expand the headline you clicked. This collapse first then expand second technique is very distracting and what should happen is as the headline is expanding it should collapse the initial headline. What am I missing? You can experience a demo here: http://media.apus.edu/it/evan-testing/accordion.htm Below is all my work Javascript CSS HTML

Title 1 Goes here -
