    Hi, I have a small problem with url rewriting on apache. I would like it that it ignores the admin/ folder from rewriting. Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteRule ^([^/]*)/([^/]*)\.html$ /index.php?cat=$1&name=$2 [L] RewriteRule ^([^/]*)/$ /index.php?cat=$1 [L] I have triend doing it myself but I can't figure it out.     my hostname is newton ...when I set "127.0.0.1 Newton" in /etc/hosts .. parallels stops working.. when I set "127.0.0.1 localhost" in /etc/hosts apache installed via ports stops working.. when I add both '"127.0.0.1 localhost", and "127.0.0.1 newton" to hosts file.. parallels network doesnt work

    I have a web application to which I want users to login only through their unique sub-domain (the sub-domain will be chosen at signup). So that I can scale the application across a number of servers, what would be the best way to set up Apache to always serve the same subdomains from the same server? For instance: matt.yyy.com, helen.yyy.com, terry.yyy.com are always served from server with ip of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx suzi.yyy.com, fred.yyy.com, tom.yyy.com are always served from server with ip of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

  • .htaccess makes php files downloadable

    I have an .htaccess file with following content: AddHandler x-httpd-php5 .php For some reason, whenever I upload it to the server, Firefox then wants to download PHP files instead of showing them, I think the Apache server has some error. What's wrong? Thanks in advance ^^

  • Redirect all requests to a subdirectory

    I have a drupal site install at example.com/drupal but now that the site is built I want to forward all requests to that directory, without it ever showing "drupal" in url. I think this can be done with .htaccess, but I didn't know if that was a hack-y answer. I'm using mediatemple's GridServer so I don't have complete control over apache settings and stuff, although I do have SSH.

  • Double request from mod-rewrite

    I've written a module that sets Apache environment variables to be used by mod-rewrite. It hooks into ap_hook_post_read_request() and that works fine, but if mod-rewrite matches a RewriteRule then it makes a second call to my request handler with the rewritten URL. This looks like a new request to me in that the environment variables are no longer set and therefore I have to execute my (expensive) code twice for each hit. What am I doing wrong, or is there a work around for this? Thanks

  • Setting up httpd.conf / mod_rewrite to redirect to codeigniter?

    I'm sorry to ask this here, as I'm sure the solution is fairly easy but for the life of my I can't setup httpd.conf on my apache server to automatically load the code_igniter files. Instead I'm having to go into the folder itself localhost/trunk/etc/etc until I get index.php - which messes with some of the relative paths (our backend coder is gone for the week so I can't ask him, but he has already setup the rewrite rules on our development server).
