  Hello! I'm stuck on a problem and, after what seems like days of searching for a solution, I'm reaching out to Stack Overflow for help. I'm trying to replace a standard dropdown form element with a Textbox and a Div containing an unordered list. I'd prefer to have the solution be based on jQuery, but am open to alternatives. I've found a couple jQuery plugins that -almost- do what I need, but are far enough from being a real solution that I need to keep looking. Here's an image of what I'm going for: I'd like the dropdown to look as pictured, and when an element is selected (with mouse or keyboard), have just the first line handed back into the textbox (and not be editable). I'd also like to populate a hidden input field with a value that will be used on Submit. I'm pulling my hair out over this one. Any help and guidance will be most appreciated! Thanks! ~PF

  I'm starting out with MVC but not sure it's the best option. I need to create a form that is based upon a collection. Eg it might look like this: product Price Item 1 [textbox] Item 2 [textbox] [submit button] where "item" is pulled from the database and textbox allows users to update the price. essentially this is a type of datagrid but i don't want webforms style update each row one at a time i need to update the entire set of text boxes in one post. Ideally I don't want a javascript based solution as it has to work without javascript. Is this possible in MVC or should I stick to webforms (where I could do this in a repeater by iterating through he repeater items on postback)

  Hi all I have a website running on a IIS 7.5 server with ASP.NET 4.0 on a shared host, but in full trust. The site is a basic "file browser" that allows the visitors to login and have a list of files available to them displayed, and, obviously, download the files. The static files (mostly pdf files) are located in a sub folder on the site called data, e.g. http://example.com/data/... The site uses ASP.NET form authentication. My question is: How do I get the ASP.NET engine to handle the requests for the static files in the data folder, so that request for files are authenticated by ASP.NET, and users are not able to deep link to a file and grab files they are not allowed to have?   Hi! Many times we experienced after Windows 98 era that some dialogs are lost their Z-Order, and moved back to prior form. For example: Dialog1.ShowModal; Dialog1.OnClickButton() : ShowMessage('anything'); When MessageBox appears, sometimes not got focus, it is moved under Dialog1. The users confused on it, because they are say: application freezed!!! But if they are uses AltTab to move another app and back, the focus return to the MessageBox, and it will be the foreground Window. • Most efficient way to update a MySQL Database on a Linux host with that of an ASP.Net Form on Window

  My kind webhost (1and1) royally asked me to go elsewhere to do something like this. I have 2 sites. One of them was developed by a .Net programmer. Now I am contracted to implement a PHP site and fetch data from the .Net site. There is an ASP.Net form that a customer fills and when they hit submit, the data gets stored in SQL Server DB. How do I also store the same data in MySQL parallelly? I cannot directly use some database connectors with ASP.Net since MySQL connectivity is not supported on 1and1 Windows hosting (biz account, no less!). What I thought of is to publish an RSS feed of entries in ASP.Net site and routinely scrape that data into MySQL on Linux host. It is an overkill, I know. Not efficient. I thought I would pick the best brains on SOF to get a different, efficient opinion. Thanks in advance guys...

  R has a qr() function, which performs QR decomposition using either LINPACK or LAPACK (in my experience, the latter is 5% faster). The main object returned is a matrix "qr" that contains in the upper triangular matrix R (i.e. R=qr[upper.tri(qr)]). So far so good. The lower triangular part of qr contains Q "in compact form". One can extract Q from the qr decomposition by using qr.Q(). I would like to find the inverse of qr.Q(). In other word, I do have Q and R, and would like to put them in a "qr" object. R is trivial but Q is not. The goal is to apply to it qr.solve(), which is much faster than solve() on large systems.

  We've created a pretty standard issue tracking system based off of SharePoint's template with just a few extra columns. On the list view (AllItems.aspx), the first column is called "Issue ID" and has a number. Our developers and QC use that number in discussions. However, that number doesn't seem to want to show up on the detail form (DispForm.aspx) nor in the alert email. Can this field be included in at least one of these communication methods? If so, how?   I have a single form input that is for checking domains. Sometimes people type in www. before the domain or .com after the domain name. The service that i use to check availability automatically checks for all top level domains so when people add the .com at the end it becomes redundant. For example the string submitted is domainname.com.com which is clearly invalid. I understand you can do this on the server side but due to some rather weird circumstance i must use javascript for this. So is regex the solution here ? If so is there some kind of regex generator i can use for this or can someone point me in the right direction with a code snippet perhaps ? Appreciate any help thanks!

  Can I kindly ask that we're allowed to login without the OpenID nonsense? This system is so popular that stack-overflow is the only place that I use it. If it is the policy of stack-overflow to prevent people to login, they've succeeded. I am a passive reader. For some reasons, I really don't like the idea of having one Id for all sites. To me, this system is dead in the water. Unless used within organizations I will never use it. Of course, until the government decides to reign us all in. Will you give them a hand?   I recently created a Sinatra app with a login form (no basic auth). To prevent access to the app unless the user logged in I put a before block in place before do unless request.path_info == '/login' authenticated? end end I quickly realized that this prevented me from accessing resources in the public directory like my style sheet and logo unless authenticated first as well. To get around that I changed my filter to the following: before do unless request.path_info == '/login' || request.path_info == "/stylesheets/master.css" || request.path_info == "/images/logo.png" authenticated? end end If there were lots of resources I needed to provide exceptions to this way of making them would quickly become overwhelming. What is a better way to code this so I can make exceptions for the public directory or even its specific sub-directories and files like /stylesheets, /images, /images/bg.png but not /secret or /secret/eyes-only.pdf? Or ... Is there a completely different best-practice to handle this situation of locking down everything except the stuff related to logging in (handlers, views, resources)?

  I'm writing a VB program that fills in values within a word document. I'm utilizing the Microsoft Word 12.0 Object Library as a Reference. I'd like to provide a scrollable preview pane to my user that is within the form he or she is using. It would be even cooler if the user could edit the document through this pane. I've done Interop extensively, so I'm well aware of how to write and edit a Word document. I just want to put it into a frame and preview it. I'll probably try to select around the document based on what is changing as the user provides input so they can see what's being changed and where. Thoughts? Thanks

  I have a text file with machine code in this form: B2 0A 05 B2 1A 01 B3 08 00 17 B2 09 18 where an instruction has this format: OP Mode Operand Note: Operand could be 1 or 2 bytes. Where:(example) OP = B2 Mode = 0A Operand = 05 How can I read the bytes in a variable? As shown in the above example. When i read the file I get individual characters. • Django Problem - trying to access data entered into a form and feed it through a different page

  OK, so let me give you an overview first. I have this site and in it there is a form section. When you access that section you can view or start a new project. Each project has 3-5 different forms. My problem is that I don't want viewers to have to go through all 3-5 pages to see the relevant information they need. Instead I want to give each project a main page where all the essential data entered into the forms is shown as non-editable data. I hope this makes sense. So I need to find a way to access all that data from the different forms for each project and to feed that data into the new page I'll be calling "Main". Each project will have a separate main page for itself. I'm pretty much clueless as to how I should do this, so any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks

  I have a combo box with a row source based on an SQL query about like SELECT DISTINCT Database_New.ASEC FROM Database_New WHERE Database_New.Date= DateSerial([cboYear], 1, 1) And Database_New.Date<= DateSerial([cboYear], 12, 31); the trouble is that if I change the value of cboYear, the values in the drop down cboASEC do not update. I have to open the query, save it and close it to get the thing to update while I have the form open. Is there a way to get the cboASEC to update somehow? maybe a little tidbit of code in the cboYear - afterupdate?

  So let's say at the last minute (in the view) I decide I want to specify a default for a field and make it hidden, like so: form.fields['coconut'] = forms.ModelChoiceField(label="", widget=forms.HiddenInput(), queryset=swallow.coconuts.all(), initial=some_particular_coconut) My question is this: Do I really need to specify queryset here? I mean, I already know, from initial, exactly which coconut I'm talking about. Why do I also need to specify that the universe of available coconuts is the set of coconuts which this particular swallow carried (by the husk)? Is there a way I can refrain from specifying queryset? Simply omitting causes django to raise TypeError. If indeed it is required, isn't this a bit damp?
