• Retrieve E-mail from server (pop3) by date for filtering on subject or body in C#

  I have a piece of monitoring software I am writing which needs to retrieve e-mails sent to an address for a certain day so that I can filter them by a regex in the subject or body. I don't need to retrieve the entire message, only the subject and body for all messages on a given day so that I can evaluate them with a regular expression for a token. I looked at EAGetMail as a solution, but their implementation doesn't do what I need to to do. I can only get all information on mail, which only has the size and index. I would need it by subject, but even then I don't want to get everything in inbox. If I went with this solution I have to get all mail, and then retrieve each mail message individually to evaluate the subject and body. This is not ideal. I also looked at OpenPop.Net, but it too does not have a targeted retrieval for today's messages only. Can I even do what I want without looping through every single email on the server until I find a match? What is the best way to accomplish what I am trying to do? Am I going to have to build a custom web request to get the data I want? Also, I looked at Chilkat, but I am looking for a free solution, even if it means building the http request myself.

Email is one of the most important communications mediums today, but even with all of the advances in Outlook over the years it can still be difficult to keep track of conversations, files, and contacts.  Xobni makes it easy by indexing your emails and organizing them by sender.  You can use its powerful search to quickly find any email, find related messages, and then view more information about that contact with information from social networks.  And, to top it off, it even lets you view your Yahoo! emails directly in Outlook without upgrading to a Yahoo! Plus account.  Xobni runs in Outlook 2003, 2007, and 2010, including the 64 bit version of Outlook 2010, and users of older versions will especially enjoy the new features Xobni brings for free. Getting started Download the Xobni Free installer (link below), and run to start the installation.  Make sure to exit Outlook before installing.  Xobni may need to download additional files which may take a few moments. When the download is finished, proceed with the install as normal.  You can opt out of the Product Improvement Program at the end of the installation by unchecking the box.  Additionally, you are asked to share Xobni with your friends on social networks, but this is not required.   Next time you open Outlook, you’ll notice the new Xobni sidebar in Outlook.  You can choose to watch an introduction video that will help you quickly get up to speed on how Xobni works. While this is playing, Xobni is working at indexing your email in the background.  Once the first indexing is finished, click Let’s Go! to start using Xobni. If the information isn’t correct, you can edit it and add your own information.  Click the Edit button, and the add any information you want.   You can also remove a network you don’t wish to see.  Right-click on the network tabs, select Manage Extensions, and uncheck any you don’t want to see. But sometimes online contact just doesn’t cut it.  For these times, click on the orange folder button to request a contact’s phone number or schedule a time with them. This will open a new email message ready to send with the information you want.  Edit as you please, and send. Add Yahoo! Email to Outlook for Free One of Xobni’s neatest features is that it let’s you add your Yahoo! email account to Outlook for free.  Click the gear icon in the bottom of the Xobni sidebar and select Options to set it up. Select the Integration tab, and click Enable to add Yahoo! mail to Xobni. Sign in with your Yahoo! account, and make sure to check the Keep me signed in box. Note that you may have to re-signin every two weeks to keep your Yahoo! account connected.  Select I agree to finish setting it up. Xobni will now download and index your recent Yahoo! mail. Your Yahoo! messages will only show up in the Xobni sidebar.  Whenever you select a contact, you will see related messages from your Yahoo! account as well.  Or, you can search from the sidebar to find individual messages from your Yahoo! account.  Note the Y! logo beside Yahoo! messages.   Select a message to read it in the Sidebar.  You can open the email in Yahoo! in your browser, or can reply to it using your default Outlook email account. If you have many older messages in your Yahoo! account, make sure to go back to the Integration tab and select Index Yahoo! Mail to index all of your emails. • How can I display eth0's IP address at the login screen on Precise Server?

  The server I administrate, inconveniently enough, has a dynamic IP address assigned by DHCP. The convenient counterbalance, though, is that it happens to be set up about two feet from where I sit. I know how to edit /etc/issue to show different values before the login prompt is delivered to the display, but I'd like to know if it's possible for /etc/issue to display the current IP address of eth0 (re-evaluated at boot time) so that I can see it and then ssh in without having to log in to run ifconfig.

  Hey there, Haven't been able to find a solution to this around the net or these forums - apologise if I've missed something! My .htaccess RewriteRules are working well - have search-engine and user -friendly links in my web pages, and unfriendly database URLs running hidden in the background. Except when I added a RewriteRule to add "www." to the front of URLs if the user didn't enter it - to ensure only one appears in search engines. Here's what now happening, and I can't figure out why! • "Hello, WebView" tutorial opens the requested address in Android browser and not in my webview

  Hi everyone, I am using Android emulator with AVD of Android 2.1 and I have the following problem: Trying to load a URL in a WebView using webView.loadUrl causes it to open in the browser instead. Note: I am talking about the initial opening, not the issue in which links from the WebView open in a browser, though, perhaps it is somehow connected. I've tried several things: I've removed <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" /> from the manifest. That actually made it work correctly, i.e, load the html into the webview. However, as one would expect, the only thing it loaded is "unable to connect the internet" error page. I've tried downloading a real sample project ("Hello Android" book source files, project - BrowserView). However, it didn't work just the same. I've created a new project and followed the directions at Google's official tutorial of using WebView and got the same result. I haven't find anyone else complaining about it. Why does it happen? I am trying to write an NSData object to a directory like so; [myData writeToFile:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/%@.txt", path, filename] atomically:YES]; I receive no errors or warnings but I am assuming the write fails because the path variable has the format of afp://10.0.0.20/username/Desktop. I am connected to the networked share. Do I need to modify the string or take a different approach here? TIA, Ricky.

  Hi, I am using a small java smtp library (http://code.google.com/p/subethasmtp/), by this I need to parse the incoming emails in separate components viz body, attachments etc. I am trying to use mime4j , but the documentation suggests that mime4j can only give event notification or token notification and nothing else. For stripping out body and attachments etc I had to use my own custom logic inside the event handlers. Is my observation correct? If yes then how can I use mime4j to use for my requirement. Please suggest. I badly need an approach that takes in the smtp data stream and returns me with an array of attachment references or streams in fully parsed out form in java. Please help. • SOLVED mwfeedparser integrating in my app gives EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=1, address=0xa0040008)

  SOLVED- Got it! The problem was that since I am creating the DoParsingStuff *parseThisUrl object in the viewDidLoad method, it's scope was only within that method. So after the method finished, the object got deallocated. I changed it to an instance variable instead and now it works. It gives a different error but that it an entirely different issue. Issue was: I have been struggling with trying to integrate the mwfeedparser library in my app for parsing RSS and ATOM feeds. The current plan is to delegate the sending to delegate to sendmail (on the local unix server). From our testing sendmail is sending a maximum of 5 emails per second. • Is it possible to setup an internal test email server to keep all mail sent to it?

  We have a need at my work to setup a test email server that will take all mail sent to it for delivery and instead just dump it into an account for later retrieval. I've been out of the email server configuration game long enough that I think that's possible but I don't know for sure. As a more specific example of what we need: We have code that sends emails to outside clients in certain cases. We want to point our code to a test server that will accept those emails, but not let them get to the outside world (yes, it's happened before, oops). We then need to be able to verify that Email X would have gotten sent to Client Y if we had sent to the real server. As a bonus, we have a error email alias on our real server that goes to the programmers that we would like to keep getting email from. So anything sent to that alias on the test server would forward to our real server for delivery. My preference is for postfix but our IT staff seems set on using sendmail (or Exchange) for everything so hints/pointers for either server would be helpful. Thanks a lot.

• What keeps you from changing your public IP address and wreak havok?

  An interesting question was asked to me and I did not know what to answer.. So I'll ask here. Let's say I subscribed to an ISP and I'm using cable internet access. ISP gives me a public IP address of 60.61.62.63. What keeps me from changing this IP address to, let's say, 60.61.62.75 and mess with another consumer's internet access? For the sake of this argument, let's say that this other IP address is also owned by the same ISP. Also, let's assume that it's possible for me to go into the cable modem settings and manually change the IP address. Under a business contract where you are allocated static addresses, you are also assigned a default gaetway, a network address and a broadcast address. So that's 3 addresses the ISP "loses" to you. That seems very wastefull for dynamically assigned IP addresses where the majority of customers are.. Could they simply be using static arps? ACLs? Other simple mechanisms? Anyone who worked at an ISP would be willing to explain this a bit?

• Delphi Unicode String Type Stored Directly at its Address

  I want a string type that is Unicode and that stores the string directly at the adress of the variable, as is the case of the (Ansi-only) ShortString type. I mean, if I declare a S: ShortString and let S := 'My String', then, at @S, I will find the length of the string (as one byte, so the string cannot contain more than 255 characters) followed by the ANSI-encoded string itself. What I would like is a Unicode variant of this. That is, I want a string type such that, at @S, I will find a unsigned 32-bit integer containing the length of the string in bytes (or in characters, which is half the number of bytes) followed by the Unicode representation of the string. I have tried WideString, UnicodeString, and RawByteString, but they all appear only to store an adress at @S, and the actual string somewhere else (I guess this has do do with reference counting and such). I suspect that there is no built-in type to use, and that I have to come up with my own way of storing text the way I want (which actually is fun). Am I right?
