I am trying to optimise the way that I work (I am a terrible procrastinator), and am curious what other programmers' desks look like. What do you have on your desk? I want to make GetLastInputInfo() return that I've just used keyboard/mouse all the time - as I've been actively using the computer so that whoever relies on GetLastInputInfo() thinks I'm actively using the computer.     Hello I have Motorola MC55 with Windows Mobile 6.5 on-board. This nice palm contains also an embedded bar-code scanner. My question is - Will I need anything special in .NET CF in order to use the bar-code scanner? I would expect that the bar-code are read as normal strings and delivered as keyboard events?   • Unfamiliar notation found in a computer science book

    I'm reading through this computer science book and throughout the book I see a number of things written like so: and then there's this: and then this: What kind of notation is the "Boolean Expression" in example 1 written in? I've never seen anything like it before and I'm tempted to assume that whoever wrote and/or scanned this book in fell asleep at the keyboard, and assuming that it's even valid, what about the 3rd example? I'm pretty sure that's not C++ or VB.NET they're showing there.

  • Hotkeys no longer work in Visual C# 2010 Express

    Suddenly none of hotkeys in C# Express work (like F5, F6 etc.). I don't know what I've done, but no doubt its something stupid. Does anyone know how to fixed this? I have tried the Keyboard settings in Options, but it won;t even let me add hotkeys for some reason, even once I've removed the old ones. So re-adding them does not work.

I created this because I have to switch to iTunes to change the volume of the music because I am using the digital-out audio and the keyboard keys do not work in digital-out mode.     I implemented an as-you-type-searching (text search on single attribute) by fetching with performFetch: after each given character by the user. The performFetch: is running in a background thread to avoid keyboard freezes. But while typing many useless fetches are started. A NSOperationQueue might be an option, but I wonder if there are other approaches for this quite usual search behavior. What's best practice to notice when fetching is done and the table view is updated with the previous fetch to start a new fetch?

  • Which GUI toolkit would you use for a touchscreen interface?

    The only experience I have so far with a touchscreen interface was one where everything was custom drawn, and I get the feeling it's not the most efficient way of doing it (even the most basic layout change is hell to make). I know plenty of GUI toolkits intended at keyboard & mouse interfaces, but can you advise something suited for touchscreens? Target platform is Windows, but cross-platform would be nice.

    I'm designing a protocol (in C) to implement the layered OSI network structure, using cnet (http://www.csse.uwa.edu.au/cnet/). I'm getting a SIGSEGV error at runtime, however cnet compiles my source code files itself (I can't compile it through gcc) so I can't easily use any debugging tools such as gdb to find the error.   • How do I associate the Enter key with a button on an aspx page?

    I have an asp.net ascx control file and I have put the control on an aspx page. The aspx page has a button in which when I press enter on the keyboard, I want it to fire the event handler for the button. Is there a way to set this? I am using a master page with a button already on it, so now when I press the enter key, the event handler for that button fires.
