  • Monitor torrent user in network [closed]

    I am using active directory in windows server 2008 R2 having IP address is 10.10.10.10 and my DSL modem Ip is 10.10.10.101. All clients are using 10.10.10.101 default gw to access the Internet. I don't know who is using Torrent in network or downloading something via IDM or something else. I just want to Monitor my clients for who are download via torrent or whatever. Is there anything in Windows Server 2008r2 that would allow me to do this monitoring, or do I need something else?

  • Design best practice - best way to handle user selection

    I'm an experienced developer (WPF) moving over to Android development. My question: an app I am developing allows the user to browse their local storage (such as SDCARD) and select a file. Now, should I simply create a new Activity (after the user has made a selection) to handle what I want to have the app do with that chosen file, -or- is the better approach to pass the path/name of the selected file back to the main Activity and let IT launch the next Activity? In other words, is the better practice to have the main Activity launch other (support) activities, or is it perfectly ok and normal to have one activity chain to another and on and on? Thanks!

    Hi, Whats the best way to ensure the user has entered a valid time string such as: 5:24 5.4 102:30 102.5 It will be entered into a UITextField therefore will be in a NSString. I want to allow the user to enter the time in either hours and minutes (hh:mm) or hours and decimal minutes (hh.m). In the hours minutes example they should be able to enter as many hours as the like but only between 0 - 59 minutes. With the hours decimal minutes I want them to only be able to enter again as many hours as the like but decimal minutes can only be 0 - 9. Many Thanks

  • Debian/Linux backup files changed by user

    I would like to backup my server that is hosting a few websites in such a way that I can restore everything to the way it was from a fresh format. I know that I should backup all the home folders and then probably my /etc/ folders. Is there a way to figure out all the folders that are relevant for backup in that they were not automatically generated or installed from apt-get? It would ideally restore all the users with their current passwords as well. Basically, enough to clone the system but only copying configuration files.

  • How to rename the original file before sending it to user

    Actually I have some download link on my website something like "http://www.example.com/somesong.mp3". Now when user click on this link they get somesong.mp3 but I want to change it before they download. I found many scripts that made it possible but didn't get exact right script. Because I want that when the user clicks on download link the file downloading should be started just after the click with the new file name as I want to use. But in all the scripts which I downloaded, first the php processing starts for a few minute (I think it depends on the file size) and then rename it. Is there a way to direct force the file in header with new file name. Thanks.

    I'm learning about PHP sessions for user authentication on my website. I know how to restrict the viewing of a complete page using sessions (simply check if the 'uid' session variable is set and if it is, show content, if not redirect to an error). However I'm trying to figure out the best way to selectively show and hide different objects (div, text, images) based on if a user is logged in or not. Is it as simple as checking for the 'uid' session variable and displaying based on if it set or not? Is there a more efficient way of doing this id there are a lot of conditional elements on a page?

  • What approach should be suitable for user authentification in simle client/server app

    My previous question was closed so I will be more specific. I need to create an application, desktop one written in C#, that will ask for user credentials and after verification opens the GUI allowing to work with DB (black box for users). It should be used from everywhere, not LAN or SQL domain. I assume I would need to do the following: Create a client and a server applications that will deal with authentification. That would mean a lot of socketing stuff.. Once the user is verified, the client queries would be sent to database (client-server-DB). The server would need to send the DB data sets back to the client. As you can see, this is just my guess but I have no idea whether its too complicated or completely wrong. The main thing is that it must be desktop app (not web based one) and accessible from everywhere. I am interested in main points how to design the system and will be extremely grateful for that.

  • Limiting user access to local Gitorious repository

    I have installed and configured in private server a local git repository using Gitorious. The problem I am facing is that when I set up a new Gitorious project and limit read access permissions to specific users, the repositories inside the project are not visible any more. This happens even though the access permissions of those repositories grant access to these users. Any idea on how to solve this problem? Thanks a lot in advance!

  • SharePoint Returning a 401.1 for a Specific User/Computer

    We have a SharePoint Services 3.0 site set up supporting about 300 users right now. This report is isolated and has never been duplicated. We have one AD user who cannot log into the SharePoint site with his account from his machine and is subsequently returned a 401.1 error. If any other user tries to log on with their account from his machine, it works okay. If he moves to another machine and logs on, it works okay. The only solution to this point has been to install FireFox on the machine. When he authenticates with FF, everything is okay. Remedies tried so far: Cleared cookies/cache Turned off/on Integrated Windows Authentication in IE Downgraded IE 8 to IE 6 Removed site from Intranet Sites zone Renamed the machine Disjoined/Rejoined Domain

  • MVC Pages that require the user to be logged in

    I'm working on a little MVC framework and I'm wondering what the "best way" is to structure things so secure pages/controllers always ensure the user is logged in (and thus automatically redirects to a login page--or elsewhere--if not). Obviously, there are a lot of ways to do it, but I'm wondering what solution(s) are the most common or are considered the best practice. Some ideas I had: Explicitly call user->isLoggedIn() at the beginning of your controller action method? (Seems far too easy to forget and leave an important page unsecure on accident) Make your controller extend a secureController that always checks for login in the constructor? Do this check in the model when secure information is requested? (Seems like redundant calls would be made) Something else entirely? Note: I'm working in PHP, though the question is not language-dependent.

  • [C++] Boost test: catch user defined exceptions

    If I have user defined exceptions in my code, I can't get Boost test to consider them as failures. For example, BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE_EXPECTED_FAILURES(MyTest,1) BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE(MyTest) { // code which throws user defined exception, not derived from std::exception. } I get a generic message: Caught exception: .... unknown location(0):.... It does not recognize this error as a failure since it is not a std::exception. So it does not honor the expected_failures clause. How do I enforce that the piece of code should always throw an exception? THis seems to be a useful thing to want. In case future code changes cause the code to pass and the exception is not thrown, I want to know that.

    Hi, I have a windows server 2008 r2 with 3 hyper-v vm's IIS server Sql server 3 - Mail server I'm new to networking/server configuration. I have created a Virtual Network and can see each of the 3 VMs as well as the host on the network. I can connect from each VM to the host using the admin account. However, what would be the best (secure) way to create connections/accounts between the VMs, presumabely this shouldn't be done with an admin account but one with lesser priveledges. For example, to be able to access the SQL Server VM from the IIS server VM?

    The documentation on Core Data entities says: You might implement a custom class, for example, to provide custom accessor or validation methods, to use non-standard attributes, to specify dependent keys, to calculate derived values, or to implement any other custom logic. I stumbled over the non-standard attributes claim. It's just a guess: If my attribute is anything other than NSString, NSNumber or NSDate I will want to have a non-standard Attribute with special setter and getter methods? So, for example, if I wanted to store an image, this would be a non-standard Attribute with type NSData and a special method, say -(void)setImageWithFileURL:(NSURL*)url which then pulls the image data from the file, puts in in an NSData and assigns it to core data? Or did I get that wrong?

  • Identifying if a user is in the local administrators group

    My Problem I'm using PInvoked Windows API functions to verify if a user is part of the local administrators group. I'm utilizing GetCurrentProcess, OpenProcessToken, GetTokenInformationand LookupAccountSid to verify if the user is a local admin. GetTokenInformation returns a TOKEN_GROUPS struct with an array of SID_AND_ATTRIBUTES structs. I iterate over the collection and compare the user names returned by LookupAccountSid. My problem is that, locally (or more generally on our in-house domain), this works as expected. The builtin\Administrators is located within the group membership of the current process token and my method returns true. On another domain of another developer the function returns false. The LookupAccountSid functions properly for the first 2 iterations of the TOKEN_GROUPS struct, returning None and Everyone, and then craps out complaining that "A Parameter is incorrect." What would cause only two groups to work correctly? The TOKEN_GROUPS struct indicates that there are 14 groups. I'm assuming it's the SID that is invalid. Everything that I have PInvoked I have taken from an example on the PInvoke website. The only difference is that with the LookupAccountSid I have changed the Sid parameter from a byte[] to a IntPtr because SID_AND_ATTRIBUTESis also defined with an IntPtr. Is this ok since LookupAccountSid is defined with a PSID? What is the best way to create a User object that contains all of the users details, and persist it across the entire site for the duration of their visit?   • Script to restart server when no user is remotely connected

    I'm looking for something special : here is a windows server that is used for development by 4/5 people remotely working on it through remote control. I'm installing Visual Studio 2010 on it, and the installation won't continue until the server has been restarted. I'm looking for a way to reboot when the server is idle (when nobody is connected through remote desktop on it) so that the reboot doesn't bug anyone. Is there some software that can do that ? There are few things I need to have working though: Each repository should have its own ACL, with different users allowed to push/pull It shouldn't be ssh-based (it shouldn't require users to have shell accounts on that machine) So, I guess that leaves me with some https with basic authentication, right?   • Disabling the shell of user "daemon" (/bin/false)

    on a Linux system there are lot's of users by default: daemon, bin, sys, games, etc. According to my /etc/passwd most of these users have a shell assigned (/bin/sh) which seems some kind of insecure to me. My naive thinking would say: Only give those users a shell that may login to the server. Is my thinking wrong? If not completely wrong: Can I disable the shell for "daemon" and "www-data" without having side effects (e.g. the system wont start or the Apache PHP cannot excute system calls)? Basically, the current setup involves me needing to manually go in after first boot and set the newly installed JRE as the default using the alternatives --config command. Is there a way for me to pass arguments to alternatives so I don't have to manually pick the correct JRE?
