• performance issue with a website.

  Hi, I have a website .. [SPAM LINK REMOVED]. When you see pages like [SPAM LINK REMOVED] and [SPAM LINK REMOVED]. These pages load a bit slowly in FF. Please see if the speed is reasonable or speed needs to improve and in IE 6 it takes ages to load the website. Please let me know what all should i do to increase the performance of website. I tried all the options given by firebug. But nothing much helped. If any1 can let me know where all i should take care to increase the performance it will be very helpful.

  Hello, A trick to avoiding filtering by nullable parameters in SQL was something like the following: select * from customers where (@CustomerName is null or CustomerName = @CustomerName) This worked well for me in LINQ to SQL: string customerName = "XYZ"; var results = (from c in ctx.Customers where (customerName == null || (customerName != null && c.CustomerName == customerName)) select c); But that above query, when in ADO.NET EF, doesn't work for me; it should filter by customer name because it exists, but it doesn't. Instead, it's querying all the customer records. Now, this is a simplified example, because I have many fields that I'm utilizing this kind of logic with. But it never actually filters, queries all the records, and causes a timeout exception. But the wierd thing is another query does something similarly, with no issues. Any ideas why? Seems like a bug to me, or is there a workaround for this? I've since switched to extension methods which works. Thanks.

  I'm working on a small sketch in processing where I am making a "clock" using the time functions and drawing ellipses across the canvas based on milliseconds, seconds and minutes. I'm using a for loop to draw all of the ellipses and each for loop is inside its own method. I'm calling each of these methods in the draw function. • String generator issue

  I want to write a method which returns a string. So far so good. The creation of the string however is quite complicated. I have 3 string lists - the first one has 155 entries, the second one - 9, the third one 21. I want my method if called enough times(155*9*21) to return all the possible combinations of values from the 3 lists (basically this method should keep count on how many times it was called and return only one combination each time). Any ideas how to accomplish that? I have 155*9*22 possible combinations. The first time the method is called it should take List1(0), List2(0), List3(0). After that in the next 21 iterations, the index of the third list is only changed. Once all the elements from the third list have been used increment the index of the second list and so on. Once the method has produced all the possible combinations (155*9*22) I want it to start from the beginning.

• Jquery image slider window resize scaling issue

  Hi, I have created image gallery slider, the images of which scale with the window size. My problem is I can't seem to create the right formula to ensure that the slider is at the right position when the window is scaled. If I am at the first image and the slider 'left' offset is 0 then the scaling works fine and my offset is correct, however when I am on image two and my slider is offset by say -1500 and then the window is resized, the slider is then at the wrong offset. Taking this into account I figured I could just add / subtract the new window size difference from the slider offset and therefore have everything in the right position. I was wrong. It works for the first two images but then If I am at the end of my slider on the last image I get a nice big gap between the end of the last image and the border of the page. Can someone please show my where I am going wrong please?   I am trying to use openFire + jsjac for my application as chat option. I have installed openfire in my local machine and it is running fine on http://127.0.0.1:4040/ and i have downloaded jsjac version 1-3-4. 1) when I run sampleClient.html file directly [URL: C:\tomcat\webapps\jsjac\examples\simpleclient.html] I am able to connect sampleClient with openFire. Select Http Binding http Base : http://127.0.0.1:7070/http-bind/ jabber server : 127.0.0.1 username : admin password : ** 2) But when I put jsjac folder in tomcat/webapps/ directory, I access sampleClient through http://127.0.0.1:8080/jsjac/examples/sampleClient.html, at that time using above setting (which i have used in step 1) it is giving error "Service unavailable". In step 1 when though I am connected with openFire, when I send a message it displays only "message received from admin@localhost", but it does not display the actual message.. • Possibly simple PHP/MYSQL issue with retrieving and showing data

  I have been racking my brains over this for a while now. Here is the data i have in the sql data base as an example: ID | TYPE | DATA 1 | TXT | TEST 2 | PHP | php 3 | JS | JAVASCRIPT That is just an example, there are multiple listing for TXT, PHP and JS throughout the table. What I want to do is retrive all the data and display it all into separate drop down/select boxes. Meaning, select box one would list all data with type TXT, select box two would list all data with type PHP and select box 3 would list all data with type JS. The only way I have came about doing this is doing individual sql queries for each different type. I know there is a way to do it all in 1 query and then display it the way I want to but I just can't seem to figure out how and I know its going to drive me nuts when someone helps and I see just how they did it. In the success() function though console.log (globalTitle); constantly gives me "a". It's like the variable is assigned but is then cached every time success() is called. Happens in FF 4 and Chrome 8. Any thoughts?

I've tried various solutions on the web, but nothing seems to work. I've verified that the html header specifies utf8. Any ideas on how I can get the entire db back to normal characters?

• VB.Net Memory Issue

  We have an application that has some interesting memory usage issues. When it first opens, the program uses aroun 50-60MB of memory. This stays consistent on 32-bit machines. On 64-bit machines, however, re-activating the form in any way (clicking, dragging, alt-tabbing, etc.) adds around another 50MB to it's memory usage. It repeats this process several times before resetting back to around 45MB, at which point the cycle begins again. I've done some research and a lot of people have said that VB in general has pretty poor garbage collection, which could be affecting the software in some way. However, I've yet to find a solution. There are no events fired when the application is activated (as shown by 32-bit usage) - the applications is merely sitting awaiting the user's actions. At load, the system pulls some data into a tree view, but that's the only external connection, and it only re-fires the routine when the user makes a change to something and saves the change. Has anyone else experienced anything this strange, and if so, does anyone know of what might fix it? It seems strange that it only occurs under x64 systems. Thanks
