  • Can AutoIt scripts run as a scheduled task while not logged in?

    - by muddywater
I am using Ruby/WATIR/AutoIt to automate a task via Task Scheduler which runs fine as long as I am logged in, but as soon as my account is locked (mandated 10 minute screen lock) or I logout the script stops functioning. When I log back in, it is sitting at the part where AutoIt is supposed to handle a file download dialogue by clicking save and then entering the filename and clicking to save again. The follwing is the code that works while I am logged in. Is AutoIt supposed to work when I am not logged in, and is there some other way to accomplish this? Thanks!! because search has not turned up anything (terms are too generic) prompt_message = "Do you want to save this file, or find a program online to open it?" window_title = "File Download" save_dialog = WIN32OLE.new("AutoItX3.Control") sleep 1 save_dialog_obtained = save_dialog.WinWaitActive(window_title,prompt_message, 25) save_dialog.ControlFocus(window_title, prompt_message, "&Save") sleep 1 save_dialog.Send("S") save_dialog.ControlClick(window_title, prompt_message, "&Save") save_dialog.WinSetTitle(window_title, prompt_message, "This is ForTesting" ) saveas_dialog_obtained = save_dialog.WinWait("Save As", "Save&in", 5) sleep 1 path = fileName puts " Edit the file path" save_dialog.ControlSend("Save As", "", "Edit1",path) sleep 4 puts " Save the file" save_dialog.ControlClick("Save As", "Save &in", "&Save") save_fileAlreadyExists = save_dialog.Send("Y")

  • iPhone Debugging: How to resolve 'failed to get the task for process'?

    - by unforgiven
I have just added a provisioning profile to XCode (needed to support notifications and in app purchase), setup as needed the build configuration for ad hoc distribution, and tried to run the app on the device (I have done this several times in the past, without any problem). The app is installed, but it does not start. On the console, I see the following message: Error launching remote program: failed to get the task for process 82. Error launching remote program: failed to get the task for process 82. The program being debugged is not being run. The program being debugged is not being run. However, if I start the application on the device manually, it works as expected. I have recently installed the latest XCode 3.2 for Snow Leopard. Is this a known bug of this version of XCode or am I doing something wrong? EDIT: It works fine with release distribution using the development provisioning profile. I have checked again the ad hoc provisioning profile to make sure it includes the device I am using.

  • Why thread in background is not waiting for task to complete?

    - by Haris Hasan
I am playing with async await feature of C#. Things work as expected when I use it with UI thread. But when I use it in a non-UI thread it doesn't work as expected. Consider the code below private void Click_Button(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { var bg = new BackgroundWorker(); bg.DoWork += BgDoWork; bg.RunWorkerCompleted += BgOnRunWorkerCompleted; bg.RunWorkerAsync(); } private void BgOnRunWorkerCompleted(object sender, RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs runWorkerCompletedEventArgs) { } private async void BgDoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs doWorkEventArgs) { await Method(); } private static async Task Method() { for (int i = int.MinValue; i < int.MaxValue; i++) { var http = new HttpClient(); var tsk = await http.GetAsync("http://www.ebay.com"); } } When I execute this code, background thread don't wait for long running task in Method to complete. Instead it instantly executes the BgOnRunWorkerCompleted after calling Method. Why is that so? What am I missing here? P.S: I am not interested in alternate ways or correct ways of doing this. I want to know what is actually happening behind the scene in this case? Why is it not waiting?

  • What's the vbs code to schedule a task every time Windows starts up?

    - by Wing C. Chen
I would like to know how to write up the vbs code to schedule a windows task to start a .exe program every time the Windows starts up. I found the following code online: strComputer = "." Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _ & "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2") Set objNewJob = objWMIService.Get("Win32_ScheduledJob") errJobCreated = objNewJob.Create _ ("Notepad.exe", "********123000.000000-420", _ True , 1 OR 4 OR 16, , , JobID) Wscript.Echo errJobCreated But it only tells me how to schedule the task every on some specific days and hours. I thought of creating a windows service. However the following is the story why I must look for an alternative to it. I created a windows service with RunAsService for my java program wrapped with Janel. The Service worked fine when I first installed and started it. However, after restarting my windows xp, a dialog window poped out saying that my janel generated .exe file has crashed, with my RunAsService service kept on going. The service worked fine when I terminated the service and restarted it again manually. Nevertheless, the same crash happens over and over again every time I restart my Windows.
