  • How to pass a Lambda Expression as method parameter with EF

    How do I pass an EF expression as a method argument? To illustrate my question I have created a pseudo code example: The first example is my method today. The example utilizes EF and a Fancy Retry Logic. What I need to do is to encapsulate the Fancy Retry Logic so that it becomes more generic and does not duplicate. In the second example is how I want it to be, with a helper method that accepts the EF expression as an argument. This would be a trivial thing to do with SQL, but I want to do it with EF so that I can benefit from the strongly typed objects.     What is a good approach for credential checks for windows mobile app. Knowing that it is an occasionally connected device. Should I keep the user credential into the local database? If the credential doesn't exist in the db, try to see if it has internet access and do the check through a web service? If both fails then display an error message ? If logins is successful then store the credential to the local database store then upon next login go against the database first? Is this a good approach?

    Hi there I need to create something like this: select name from table where active = 1 AND (name LIKE 'bla' OR description LIKE 'bla') The first part is easy: $sqlcmd = $db->select() ->from("table", "name") ->where("active = ?", 1) Now comes the tricky part. How can I nest? I know that I can just write ->orWhere("name LIKE ? OR description LIKE ?", "bla") But thats wron, because I need to dynamically change all the parts. The query will be built all the time the script runs. Some parts get deleted, some altered. In this example I need to add those OR-s because sometimes I need to search wider. "My Zend Logic" tells me that the correct way is like this: $sqlcmd = $db->select() ->from("table", "name") ->where("active = ?", 1) ->where(array( $db->select->where("name LIKE ?", "bla"), $db->select->orWhere("description LIKE ?", "bla") )) But that doesn't work (atleast I dont remember it working). To do this, I need a pointer to some free memory to that process in order to put the values there (and then read them from my process). This can be done in normal Windows or Win32 with the VirtualAllocEx function. However, this function is not supported in windows mobile ! Can you recommend me a way to allocate that memory?

    I'm guessing this is impossible, but I'll throw it out there anyway. Is it possible to use CreateSourceQuery when programming with the EF4 CodeFirst API, in CTP4? I'd like to eagerly load properties attached to a collection of properties, like this: var sourceQuery = this.CurrentInvoice.PropertyInvoices.CreateSourceQuery(); sourceQuery.Include("Property").ToList(); But of course CreateSourceQuery is defined on EntityCollection<T>, whereas CodeFirst uses plain old ICollection (obviously). Is there some way to convert? I've gotten the below to work, but it's not quite what I'm looking for. Anyone know how to go from what's below to what's above (code below is from a class that inherits DbContext)?     Hello, can anyone tell me if you know to be a problem with Bitmap and steganography for WM 6? I am working on a project and i have to hide a digital signature in a bitmap. The algorithm works perfect, as in untill i have the image on the memory the bitmap contains the modified bytes. But after i save the image (Bitmap.Save()) and I reopen the image, than those bytes are lost. When i say lost i mean they are the orriginal bytes from when the picture was taken. Thank you.

  • Stopping Filter Display in Dynamic Data Entity Web App

    I'm currently experimenting with the Dynamic Data Entity Web App Project type in VS2008 SP1 and after reading many tutorials which offer helpful advice for problems I so far have no need of a solution to I have fallen at the first hurdle. In the DB I have made my entity model from I decided to start small with a table called "Companies" just to see if I could tweak the display into a satisfactory shape for this small table. The Companies table has a column called "contactid" which leads to a record filled with various contact information in a "contacts" table. The default created Entity Data Model has guessed that One companies could have many contact records. So it tries to be helpful and add a "Contact" filter onto the page that allows you to see all the Companies that share a particular set of contact info indexed by the "Contact Name" field. Unfortunately the contact table is a multi-purpose one that also stores contact info for customers and there are about 1000 times more customers than there are companies. So the Dropdown makes the page load time increase exponentially and produces no benefit. So I'd like to just stop the filter from appearing. Only problem is I don't have a clue how to switch it off. Google is so far proving recalcitrant on the matter so I wondered if anyone in here knew how to get rid of a useless filter.

  • Calling back a functions value

    I need your help, I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out. I've had my head wrapped around it only to no avail. Ideally, i'd like to setup two functions. 1 function: select_date() to interact with the user to select a date from the jQuery Date picker. If the dialog is closed then return as null. Then a second function: test() to check wether or not a date was picked/selected.'   • Windows Mobile 6.5 GPS Device - WaitForMultipleObjects returns 258 (timeout)

    I’ve created a GPS program that track positions in realtime in the background for Windows mobile 6.1 in 2008-2009. It ran fine on these devices for many years. For some reason, the same code never worked perfectly on Windows Mobile 6.5. After many hour of operations (mostly when nobody use the device), I receive a “Timeout” (code 258) from the function "WaitForMultipleObjects": this.GPSEvent_WaitValue = WaitForMultipleObjects(2, this.GPSEvent_Handles, 0, 45000); Again, this can work for hours and suddenly, it's just impossible to get another position without : UPDATE: - Restarting the device (GoogleMap confirms that there's no GPS device present!) It has something to do with Windows Mobile going to sleep and slowing up my thread.   • Problem with using Jquery.ajax over .load on Zend

    Right now, what i'm trying to do is to replace a label on the front page with a block of html. Right now, the page basically has: <label id="replace"></label> the js currently has: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#replace").load('/test'); }); the Zend class function has: public function indexAction(){ $this->_helper->layout()->disableLayout(); $this->_view->message = "This is from TestController index"; } and finally the index.phtml template simply has: <?php echo $this->message;?> Right now, I want to change the code around so that instead of just replacing that label with the same message, it would do a POST where the function will pull out a parameter, do something (like for instance, go to the database and pull something out with the POST parameter) and then return the message. I've tried editing the js so that it would look like: $.post('/test', {param : "test_param"}, function(data) {$("#replace").html(data);}); or $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: '/test', data: "{param:test_param}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(data) {$("#replace").html(data);} }); and neither worked. I took a step back and tried to replicate the .load functionality and do: $.ajax({ url: '/test', success: function(data) { $('#replace').html(data); alert('Load was performed.'); } }); and it doesn't work either. Anyone have any tips on how to go about doing this?

    i know this sounds really common and so trivial but , am having a challenge here. I have a web site with Zend/Doctrine and i use ckeditor for the backend management. after uploading the site i've realized that during edit testing the look and feel of the site is messed up. with the help of firebug, i've seen that there are slashes all over the html. after inline edition, the look and feel came back to normal. There are so many files , i can't think of doing other decoding before outputting data from mysql. What options do i have to solve this problem. the site is up already and i feel a bit unconfortable about this. Can anyone give a hint? thanks

    Using a three-tier architecture, I have a list of objects List<object> careerList = new List<object>(); ModuleDTO module = new ModuleDTO(); careerList = module.getDegreeCodeByQualification(qualificationCode); which I then add to a gridview like so: gridViewMaster.DataSource = careerList; gridViewMaster.DataBind(); What I'd like to do is then enable paging on the gridview. In breakpoint, the Lic_LicenseTypeID and Lic_LicenseStatusID are getting correctly the ID's from the selected item in the dropdown but the LicenseStatus and LicenseStatus properties are null. What an I missing?

  • Zend autloading different namespaces from the same directory?

    Hey guys, I have a models directory in my project, and I would like to save/files classes there with different namespaces. Example: models/User.php with classname Model_User models/Table_User.php with classname Model_Table_User For the first namespace I have this in bootstrap.php $resourceLoader->addResourceTypes(array( 'model' => array( 'namespace' => 'Model', 'path' => 'models' ) )); I can't figure out how to add the second namespace so it detects files starting with Table_ Any ideas? For now I've added a second directory named 'tables' but it's getting confusing because I have each model name twice (once in the models diretory and once in the tables directory)
