• Copying a lot of large files in windows 7 doesn't work

  Im trying to copy a TB worth of files to another hard drive, from a RAID5 array. I select all folders, copy, and paste to the drive. Except nothing happens. It wont do more than 50-70 folders of files at a time. Thats pretty ridiculous.

• How to update OSX when space is tight?

  Software Update has notified me of a new OSX system update (including the Mac App Store). It claims to be about 1.6GB in size. I have 4.6GB of free space on my hard drive. However, when I attempt to actually run the update, it fails because it claims to need 6.9GB of free space. Is there any particular reason Software Update needs so much space beyond the downloaded file size and are there any work arounds? Thanks.

  I want to run script when my mac is idle (for example after 5 minutes or screen saver start time is also ok) and when I resume it from idle state. I know that I can write daemon using NSDistributedNotificationCenter and com.apple.screenIsLocked and com.apple.screenIsUnlocked, but I hope that there is already solution without creating new daemon. I need this to for example turn on/off speed limit for Transmission (as it is sometimes hard to work when hashing/downloading on full speed).

• Is there a way to host email with snow leopard server on site?

  We are faced with a dilemma with using snow leopard. We want to have thr snow leopard server on site and not off site because it makes sense to have the server in the network physically for other services (file sharing, VPN, wiki etc) but our office does not have a very reliable Internet connection so it'd hard to host the email with it. We don't want to factor out the email as a separate server because we want to enjoy a single user login across everything. How do we get around this dilemma?

  I have been backing up a MacBook Pro to an external hard disk with Time Machine. I got a new laptop, used the firewire connector to pull the universe across to it, and started it up. It does not want to just pick up where I left off with the backups; it wants to start a new backup sequence and thus I need a ton of additional disk space. • Can I mount a volume at /Users on OS X?

On a Linux system, I would mount the second drive at /home. Given that OS X is Unix, I'm thinking it should be possible to do the same thing. Has anyone done this before?   I occasionally notice in Resource Monitor hard disk activity related to ETL files in the folder C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\WMI\RtBackup. Which process/service creates these ETL files and what is their purpose? Resource Monitor shows "System" as the process which is correct since ETW traces (that is what ETL files are) are created by the kernel. But I am interested in the process that causes the traces to be created. This happens on Windows 7, by the way.

  It's a HP ProLiant DL380 Generation 7, that has four hard drives, one is dead, I suppose that another one is dead too, but is there any way to force the array to rebuild again? The server has restarted while it was rebuilding an array. My windows server(2008) that is on it won't boot, it goes directly to system recovery screen. I have an image backup, would restoring it be my only option?If I restore, it will get back to regular automatically or will I have to configure something?
