  • How to configure IIS authentication password?

    - by salvationishere
I am developing a C# / ASP.NET web application in VS 2008 on a 32-bit XP. I created a Login.aspx file for the user to enter a user name and password initially before seeing any data. This functionality works now from VS. I added users and roles by entering ASP.NET Configuration. However, after publishing to IIS 6.0, the password does not work there. How do I configure Directory Security in IIS for the same user name and password to work?

  • Oracle thin driver vs. OCI driver. Pros and Cons?

    - by Zwei Steinen
Hi, When you develop a Java application that talks to oracle DBs, there are 2 options right? One is oracle thin driver, and the other is OCI driver that requires its own installation (please correct if I'm misunderstanding). Now, what are the pros and cons? Obviously thin driver sounds much better in terms of installation, but is there anything that OCI can and the thin one can't? Develop environment is Tomcat6 + Spring 3.0 + JPA(Hibernate) + appache-DBCP Thanks in advance.

  • What is the difference between moveBackward: and moveLeft: when using NSResponder -interpretKeyEvent

    - by nciagra
I'm implementing a custom text box using -interpretKeyEvents: and am trying to figure out what the difference is between moveBackward: vs moveLeft: and moveForward: vs moveRight:. moveLeft: is bound to the left arrow and moveBackward: is bound to Ctrl + B. The documentation describes them almost identically and they seem to behave identically in practice. I'm assuming this is just a holdover from Vim? Does anyone know what the real difference is? Should moveBackward: just call my moveLeft: implementation? Thanks a lot, Nick

  • Show Visual Studio's Source Control Merge Wizard programmatically

    - by Mike
Hi, I'm developing a Work item Custom Control and I need to use the standard VS's Merge Wizard for items in source control from my code to allow to user choose the target branch, resolve conflicts etc. I'm pretty sure it's possible in some way (even through the reflection), but I just can't find the proper class in any of VS client assemblies (Microsoft.TeamFoundation.VersionControl.Controls.dll, Microsoft.TeamFoundation.VersionControl.Client.dll). Any help will be appreciated. Best regards, Mike

  • DShow : Enumeration sequence of IEnumMoniker

    - by KenC
Hello, This is a question about DirectShow IEnumMoniker. Out of some reason, I have to know "what kind of order" IEnumMoniker enumerates items. (I mean, it's alphabetically or...?) The following pages are documents about IEnumMoniker, however, it doesn't mention about this : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms692852(v=VS.85).aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd407292%28VS.85%29.aspx If anybody has the idea about the enumeration sequence, please let me know. Thanks a lot.

  • is versus as pl/sql

    - by sqlgrasshopper5
I thought that oracle treats both "is" and "as" same for functions and procedures.I tried googling with "pl/sql is vs as" and got the following link which says both are the same. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2338408/is-vs-as-keywords-for-pl-sql-oracle-function-or-procedure-creation But I found http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/ora/plsql/coll/declaration.html#index_by which seems to indicate there is a difference. Could somebody (list/point me to a link) the other contexts where using "is/as" makes a difference?. Thanks.

  • How can I debug a Windows service that crashes?

    - by Christopher
I have a .NET Windows service that appears to be crashing due to C00000005 (access violation--according to Dr Watson). When I attach the VS debugger to it--whether I build it with or without symbols--the VS debugger just stops when the service crashes, instead of stopping to give me a chance to do any investigation. Is that to be expected, or am I doing something wrong? Will using WinDbg let me do something more in real time (obviously, WinDbg lets me do crash dump analysis)? Thanks!

  • Can I use VS2010's Intellitrace to gather data for a Windows Service?

    - by rwmnau
I have a Windows service that I'd like to gather some debugging data on using Intellitrace - the problem is that you can't debug a Windows Service by starting it directly from inside VS. I have the service installed, and the very first statement in Service.Start is "Debug.Break", which allows me to attach VS. However, you can't use Intellitrace if a process is already started when you attach. Does anybody know of a workaround for this?

  • Experience with Coderush XPress and Visual Studio 2010?

    - by HumerGu
It is possible to use CRX with VS 2010: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1441554/can-i-use-coderush-xpress-in-visual-studio-2010 Refactor Key works. (After assigning the shortcut) What doesn't work is QuickNav and QuickFileNav. The Standard Shourtcut for QuickFileNav is CTRL+ALT+F, which is conflicted with VS View.F#Interactive. But removing this shortcut or changing the shortcuts for QuickNav and QuickFileNav doesn't bring up the nav-windows. NextReference (TABULATOR) doesn't work Any solutions? Other issues?

  • How to pull/push data from/to existing SAP system?

    - by Ahmed
I need to connect to a SAP system, to pull/push data to/from that system? I downloaded SAP PDK for .NET, build a solution using it, but this requires Portal Runtime for .NET to be installed on server, and this cannot be done, because SAP server is a Solaris one! Also, I've checked existing solutions, but all of them use VS.NET 2003, to create what is called SAP Connector Proxy? So, is there a way to connect to SAP system apart from using VS.NET 2003?

  • How do I set Environment Variables in Visual Studio 2010?

    - by xarzu
How do I set Environment Variables in Visual Studio 2010? I found this web page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee479070.aspx Which says: From the Project menu, choose Properties. In the left pane, select Configuration Properties, and then select Environment. But when I select "Configuration Properties", there is no "Enviroment" option: http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h292/Athono/microsoft/newstuff.jpg This is an example in VS 2008: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b279/GrunchCan/env.jpg But how is it done in VS 2010?

  • Webforms vs. MVC. Once you start using MVC.. Do you ever go back to webforms?

    - by punkouter
I checked out MVC months ago and didn't really get it.. but recently as I have become a better programmer I think it is making sense.. Here is my theory.. tell me if I got it Right In the 90s for Microsoft Devs we had Classic ASP. This mixed VBscript and HTML on the same page. So you needed to create all the HTML yourself and mix HTML and VBScript. This was not considered Ideal. Then .NET came along and everyone liked it because it was similiar to event driven VB 6 style programming. It created this abstraction of binding data to ASP Servier controls. It made getting Enumerated data easy to get on the screen with one line. Then recently Jquery and SOA concepts are mixed together.. Now people think.. Why create this extra layer of abstraction when I can just directly use .NET as a data provider and use jquery AJAX calls to get the data and create the HTML with it directly .. no need for the Webforms abstraction layer.. Sowe are back to creating HTML directly like we did in 1999. So MVC is all about saying Stop pretending like WEb programming is a VB6 app! Generate HTML directly! Am I missing anything? So I wonder.. for you people out there using MVC... is it the sort of things that once you get used to it you never want to go back to webforms??
