  I have been facing this issue from the last week after some update. Whenever my laptop wakes up from suspend state it just shows me a blank screen. Regardless of whatever I do(move my mouse, press keyboard buttons) it just refuses to wake up. I am forced to do a restart and lose all my unsaved files. Has this issue been reported for Ubuntu 12.04? I am using a Lenovo X200 with Intel Mobile 4 Series Graphics Chipset. Please let me know if any body has found a fix for this.

• D-Link wireless router losing outbound data

  I have a Linux box running the Apache web server behind a D-Link wireless router (nothing fancy, just standard kit that comes with Virgin Media broadband). My issue is that when requesting web pages (from within the network or via the web), the back end of the page seems to be being dropped. For example, I tried to display a text-only file, and all I could get was the first 40-70% of the file (it changed slightly with each refresh). The apache access logs show that only part of the data was being sent (~6000 bytes instead of the 12000+ bytes of the file). Removing my router from the equation fixes the issue and I can download any files no matter the size with no problems. My theory is that the uploaded packets are either being dropped or held up by the config of the router. Is there anything I can do to alleviate the problem? (Perhaps a way of reconfiguring the router to upload packets harder/better/faster/stronger or an option in apache that provides a workaround) As a last resort I will get a second NIC for my Linux box and turn it into a router, but that would mean the box will be on 24/7... not the most ideal of circumstances.   I am trying to configure an Ubuntu 10.04 desktop edition as a server. I currently have the DHCP server working through eth0. My problem is that I only have one Ethernet port, and am receiving Internet though a mobile hotspot on my phone through wlan0, and whenever I attempt to connect through wlan0 and eth0 I am unable to access the Internet through the server or the clients. When I disconnect from eth0 I then regain access. I have searched extensively for a solution, and have come up short. Any help is appreciated.

  Some background: I'm employed at a small, Australia-based web agency that is dipping it's toe into Mobile Application development (iOS). The project that I'm working on provides a way for users to save medication dosage information which is sync'd with a backend server. Users must agree to ToS, Disclaimer etc before using the application. This is my first iOS application, and the project is currently over budget. As a result, management is not devoting the resources to Q&A and is pushing instead for more features. I am an employee of the agency, that has been contracted by a non-for-profit. The application will probably be released under our agency's name, but we also have the option of releasing it as the not-for-profit. My question is, if there are bugs found in the application, and as a result a user takes an incorrect dosage of a medication, am I personally liable? Is there anything that I can or should do in order to protect myself personally?

  Hi, This is my first post on serverFault and my first entry in to web server configuration. The hardware and software. CPU: GenuineIntel, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz OS: Linux 2.6.18-128.el5 Memory: 2Gb Background. I am running a small database (MySQL), around 1000 records with each record containing 44 fields. At the start of each day “00:01” the tables are cleared and populated with fresh data. The are 10 remote PCs all running Winodws XP and Firefox internet browser. All remote PC’s are connected to the internet using a min 4Gb broadband connection. Each remote PC runs a URL which displays a dynamic page of data which is refreshed every 20 seconds. This is a continual process 24 hours a day. I problem I am having is on odd occasions throughout the day the PC browser error with “Server taking too long to respond error”. What I am trying to find our is if I have the correct setting in the httpd.conf file on the server. Any help or advice anyone can provide would be very helpful. • Can't load Wordpress static files on home network

  I've just installed Wordpress 3.5 on my laptop (LAMP on Ubuntu 12.10) and when I'm trying to access the site from my phone but it doesn't load static files (css and images). I tried with Opera Mobile Emulator on my laptop and it works perfectly. I also have another Drupal site on my localhost which I can load from my phone without any issues. Both directories have chmod 777 permissions. What can cause that? Just tried to open the site from my sister's laptop but it except static file I can't access any post or page.

  I already know C# and am familiar with XNA. So it would make sense to develop for the Windows Phone 7, but would it be worth while to learn Java, get familiar with Android, and instead develop for Android devices? Android has been around longer so it would probably have a larger user base. Is it really worth it to try to develop for one of the more popular mobile platforms. (Windows Phone 7 has been out for like a month?) I haven't tried either one yet though. I'm also going to buy a phone, so this decision would probably influence the phone that I buy. • How do developers find the time to stay on top of latest technologies?

  I was a freelance web developer until circa 2004 when I started going down the management route but have decided to try to get back into development again (specifically JavaScript and HTML5 web/mobile web apps) and I really get the impression to be truly good at these and similar fast moving technologies a constant amount of time is required to be set aside to invest in getting better at existing skills in addition to learning new skills. I understand right now since I am getting back into things there is a pretty steep learning curve, but seeing how good many guys are out there - the only way I see of getting up there is putting in a serious amount of time. For those working as fulltime developers, what I am trying to understand is this - on most days, how much time in the office is spent actually grinding out code compared to learning/research. I could easily spend 2-4 hours daily getting on top of the best ways to go about doing things. Do most good developers who are employed full time invest significant hours outside of work sharpening their skills? Or maybe I'm looking at all of this completely wrong?

  We have to write an administration panel for many customers. But we want to have just one administration panel, and use it in various projects. This admin panel will have basic components such as access control logic, maker-checker system in changes, user logging and etc. It will also have reporting for the customer, logs of transaction of the customer (which can vary according to the industry such as mobile banking, banking, ticket sales). These components may have to be modified according to the business. So we are thinking about the architecture here, Is it OK to use jars of every basic components, and bring them together on a glue application? Or should we build each component as WARs and make interfaces between them? If there are any more ideas, it will be appreciated.
