  • iPhone platform: endianness (detection & swapping)

    Hi all, I'm doing some endian-sensitive file manipulation on iPhone. Are there standard macros or #defines in that environment that indicate native endianness and offer swapping if necessary? I know I can check in advance and just do the right thing for this particular architecture, but wondering if there are cleaner ways of doing the right thing. (The file format is little endian; if it were big-endian, I'd probably just use the htons/htonl family.) Thanks.

    I have an old .net 2.0 windows app I need to deploy on a windows 7 machine and its not going too well. I want to build a native 64 bit version rather than a 32bit capable of running on a 64bit environment. I'm working with Visual studio 2005 My question is what settings do I need to set within each project of my solution, (both the windows app + my dll's that it references) and what settings i should set on my install project (I have a deployment project for distribution)

    How can I check if an anonymous object that was created as such: var myObj = { prop1: 'no', prop2: function () { return false; } } does indeed have a prop2 defined? prop2 will always be defined as a function, but for some objects it is not required and will not be defined. I tried what was suggested here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/595766/how-to-determine-if-native-javascript-object-has-a-property-method but I don't think it works for anonymous objects .

    I upgraded to Snow Leopard using the disc we got at WWDC. Trying to run some of my rails apps now complains about sql (in /Users/coneybeare/Projects/Ambiance/ambiance-server) !!! The bundled mysql.rb driver has been removed from Rails 2.2. Please install the mysql gem and try again: gem install mysql. So 'single spaces only' Needs to turn into 'single spaces only' The below will not work select replace('single spaces only',' ',' ') as it would result in 'single spaces only' I would really prefer to stick with native TSQL rather than a CLR based solution.     Is it possible to transfer files of a bluetooth device, lets say a digital pen (e.g. Nokia or Logitech io2) to the iPhone? I am interested if I could do a native application that could somehow get that binary file sent by the digital pen and do something with it. I am used to rfcomm and obex but I can only find inconclusive results when I search for that and the support in the iPhone SDK... Any ideas?

  • Monitor USB optical mouse activity for movement and call a program on Windows

    I'm essentially looking to monitor a USB port input for whatever happens when the optical mouse detects its own movement and turns itself on. These mice usually have a dim red light when in "standby" mode and then the red light becomes brighter once you start moving it around. I want to use Visual Basic or something else native to the Windows environment to open an exe file or play a wav sound or call a bat file when the mouse "wakes up". Any suggestions or pushes in the right direction are appreciated.

    My weird monitor's native resolution isn't recognized by Windows, so I have to set a custom resolution for it. The problem is that java doesn't recognize it since it's not on Win7's "approved" list, so full-screen mode gets "stuck". Netbeans comes out of full-screen fine, so there has to be a way around this. If I put a destructor method on my COM object, it is never called. If I put a finalizer method, it is called when the garbage collector gets around to it. If I explicitly call my Release() override it is never called. I would really like it so that when my native Bar::IFoo object goes out of scope it automatically calls my .NET object's dispose code. I would think I could do it by overriding the Release(), and if the object count = 0 then call MyDispose(). But apparently I'm not overriding Release() correctly because my Release() method is never called. Obviously, I can make this happen by putting my MyDispose() method in the interface and requiring the people using my object to call MyDispose() before Release(), but it would be slicker if Release() just cleaned up the object. Is it possible to force the .NET COM object's destructor, or some other method, to be called immediately when a COM object is released? Googling on this issue gets me a lot of hits telling me to call System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject(), but of course, that's how you tell .NET to release a COM object. I want COM Release() to Dispose of a .NET object.
