• C# - Sending keyboard events to (last) selected window

  Hi guys, I want to use virtual keyboard assembly found here http://www.codeproject.com/KB/miscctrl/touchscreenkeyboard.aspx like on screen keyboard (OSK.exe) in Windows. Can someone please tell me how can I use it so that it always stays on top and yet for user to be able to select other windows on dekstop for keyboard input, just like "on screen keyboard" in Windows, specifically I don't know how to select last selected window (can't use GetForegroundWindow or GetFocus only, because when user clicks on virtual keyboard it gets focused and I get handle of keyboard window itself)? This is very urgent to me so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  Hi all, I have a aspx webpage which uses an assembly mine (which mades a custom authentification). I would like to modify MSIL code (so just with ILDASM/ILASM tools) of my assembly in order to log something in a file. I have tried to add this at the end of the authentification method of my assembly : IL_0034: ldstr "C:\\path_to_my_website\\log.txt" IL_0039: newobj instance void [mscorlib]System.IO.StreamWriter::.ctor(string) IL_003e: stloc.1 IL_003f: ldloc.1 IL_0040: ldstr "test" IL_0045: callvirt instance void [mscorlib]System.IO.TextWriter::Write(string) IL_004a: nop IL_004b: ldloc.1 IL_004c: callvirt instance void [mscorlib]System.IO.TextWriter::Close() IL_0051: nop ILASM does not find any error, and the CLR does not throw any exception at runtime, but the file is not created or modified ! :( Any idea ?

• Calling DLL functions from VB6.

  I've got a Windows DLL that I wrote, written in C/C++ (all exported functions are 'C'). The DLL works fine for me in VC++. I've given the DLL to another company who do all their development in VB. They seem to be having a problem linking to the functions. I haven't used VB in ten years and I don't even have it installed. What could be the problem? I've declared all my public functions as follows: define MYDCC_API __declspec(dllexport) MYDCCL_API unsigned long MYDCC_GetVer( void); . . . Any ideas? Finally got back to this today and have it working.   I have 3 sites : media.lmenaria.com - Hosting Images webservice.lmenaria.com - Sending images url from database. www.lmenaria.com - Host Silverlight application and display images. • Opening Large (24 GB) File In C

  I'm trying to read in a 24 GB XML file in C, but it won't work. I'm printing out the current position using ftell() as I read it in, but once it gets to a big enough number, it goes back to a small number and starts over, never even getting 20% through the file. I assume this is a problem with the range of the variable that's used to store the position (long), which can go up to about 4,000,000,000 according to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/s3f49ktz%28VS.80%29.aspx, while my file is 25,000,000,000 bytes in size. A long long should work, but how would I change what my compiler(Cygwin/mingw32) uses or get it to have fopen64?

• How to analyse contents of binary serialization stream?

  I'm using binary serialization (BinaryFormatter) as a temporary mechanism to store state information in a file for a relatively complex (game) object structure; the files are coming out much larger than I expect, and my data structure includes recursive references - so I'm wondering whether the BinaryFormatter is actually storing multiple copies of the same objects, or whether my basic "number of objects and values I should have" arithmentic is way off-base, or where else the excessive size is coming from. Searching on stack overflow I was able to find the specification for Microsoft's binary remoting format: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc236844(PROT.10).aspx What I can't find is any existing viewer that enables you to "peek" into the contents of a binaryformatter output file - get object counts and total bytes for different object types in the file, etc; I feel like this must be my "google-fu" failing me (what little I have) - can anyone help? This must have been done before, right??

  Can Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Web Edition be used in "closed" websites, which are hosted on the Internet, but require users to log in? We are developing a web application for banks. This is a website for clients of the bank; it allows clients to log in and view information on their personal banking accounts, stock portfolios, etc. Can this web app use SQL Server 2008 Web Edition? Here is information on this edition of SQL Server: http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2008/en/us/web.aspx It is said on this page that Web Edition can be used only on "public and Internet accessible ... Web applications". Technically, the web app we are developing is public and Internet accessible - although it requires authentication.   Hi All, I have downloaded cruisecontrol.net setup and have installed it in "C:\Program Files\CruiseControl.NET". It contains a folder called "webdashboard" which has aspx page and some other stuff as well. I want to configure this in my IIS so that I can access it , I tried but it doesn't work , every time I get error that page you requested is not found. I created web site, created virtual directory but none is working. I have not put anything in inetpub/wwwroot. Can anyone please guide me how can I configure this to work.

• Microsoft sublanguage string to locale identifier

  I can't seem to find a way to convert, or find, a local identifier from a sublanguage string. This site shows the mappings: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd318693(v=VS.85).aspx I want the user to enter a sublanguage string, such as "France (FR)" and to get the local identifier from this, which in this case would be 0x0484. Or the other way around, if a user enters 0x0480 then to return French (FR). Has anyone encountered this problem before and can point me in the right direction? Otherwise I'm going to be writing a few mapping statements to hard code it and maintain future releases if anything changes. BTW, I'm coding in C++ for Windows platform. Cheers

  I am deploying a public ASP.NET website on an IIS7 web farm. The application runs on 3 web servers and is behind a firewall. We want to create a single page on the website that is accessible only to internal users. It is primarily used for diagnostics, trigger cache expiry, etc. /admin/somepage.aspx What is the best way to control access to this page? We need to: Prevent all external (public) users from accessing the URL. Permit specific internal users to access the page, only from certain IPs or networks. Should this access control be done at the (a) network level, (b) application level, etc.?

• Restoring Sharepoint content database

  Hi, My WSS_Content database had got corrupt. And my pc was infected by virus. I had no backup of my WSS_Content database. So, I copied the corrupt database to a separete disk, formatted and reinstalled Sharepoint, with SQL Server 2005 as before (I'm using sharepoint 2007 ). I used Sytools Sharepoint Recovery tool, that i found on the net, which helped me restore my corrupt WSS_Content database. Now i want to set this content database as my "The content database" for my newly installed sharepoint. I tried the steps that i found in the link :- http://www.stationcomputing.com/scblogspace/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=40 I get stuck at step 3. Can anybody help me. I am really in a big mess. The architecture is currently like this: Web Application -- calls a class that does the upload For example, in default.aspx, I call : FileHelper fh = new FileHelper() fh.MoveFiles(file) I have an Ajax control that fires when the above is called. This is a control that resides on the website class/project. How do I update the progress counter from the Filehelper class?   I have a Windows Forms app that, unfortunately, must make calls to controls from a second thread. I've been using the thread-safe pattern described on the http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms171728.aspx. Which has worked great in the past. The specific problem I am having now: I have a WebBrowser control and I'm attempting to invoke the WebBrowser.Navigate() method using this Thread-Safe pattern and as a result I am getting StackOverflow exceptions. • Clean install of IIS 6 on Windows Server 2003 ignoring 'web.config'?

  Hi, Any help with this would be really appreciated! As the title suggests, I'm running a brand new install of Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6 and I'm basically attempting to mirror a live web server onto a new internal development server, which runs the same setup. It's an ASP.NET site that relies heavily on URL rewriting (using Intelligencia). ASP.NET is set to run on v2.0.50727 on both servers. I've tried intentionally introduce syntax errors into the web.config and it just appears to be ignoring them completely, so given IIS 6 doesn't read the web.config, the rest of the site doesn't work at all (I get a 404 error, as a 'Default.aspx' doesn't exist since the web.config handles the default page rewriting). Having looked at the Application Mapping, '.config' files are set to use the default 'c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll' which exists. Is there anything else I may be missing? Thanks in advance.

But the problem is : That my setup ALWAYS installs it even if my computer already has Office2007PIA. How can I configure my setup project that it will first check if Office2007PIA is installed and continue the installation of my project without installing Office2007PIA? Thanks!

Here is what it looks like (simplified) public class S3FileStore { public void PutFile(string ID, Stream content) { //do stuff } } In my client app, I want to be able to call: var s3 = new() S3FileStore(); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile1")); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile2")); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile3")); I want this to be an asynchronous operation - I want the S3FileStore to handle this (i don't want my caller to have to execute PutFile asynchronously so to speak) but, i want to be able to trap exceptions / tell if the operation completed for each file. I've looked at event based async calls, especially this: http://blogs.windowsclient.net/rendle/archive/2008/11/04/functional-shortcuts-2-event-based-asynchronous-pattern.aspx However, I can't see how to call my PutFile (void) method? Are there any better examples?

  Hi! I have a aspx file that suppose to write to a file in the server while loading. On the local machine it works fine, but when i deploy it to a live server it gives me an exception "Access to the path 'd:\DZHosts\LocalUser\asafz83\www.asafz83.somee.com\lala.htm' is denied." WHen i asked my serverAdmin for the reason - he told me to remove any impersonation from my web.config file. Well, my web.config file doesn't contain any impersonation, so i'm really confused: What can i do in order for this sealy-stupid application to work? thanks!

• How to rewrite to a virtual directory with a different application

  Hi, I have a CMS application that manages multiple websites, today whenever i change the codebehind of one of these websites - i have to rebuild the dll for all websites, deploy it - this disconnects all current sessions and is really bad. The iis is configured to listen to all domain requests, if the request is to one of the websites' domain , the application rewrites it, or example, if someone requests for http://www.example.com, and example.com is configured in the application to be website 12, it is rewritten to http://www.example.com/websites/12/default.aspx. This is done for all websites. We want to seperate the dlls of the websites from each other, and from the main CMS, we have a virtual directory to each websites, but when trying to rewrite to it, we discover that IIS support this (we get an "Could not load type '_12._Default'". error). How can we perform this rewrite so it does rewrite to virtual directories, or if anyone has any other solution for the initial dll seperation problem. Thanks in advance

  I downloaded: Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2010 and Team Foundation Server® 2010 Beta 2 for Microsoft® Virtual PC 2007 SP1 Image When I go into the default installation of TFS project site in Sharepoint ( http://vs2010beta2/sites/DefaultCollection/IBuySpy/Dashboards/ProjectDashboard_wss.aspx ) I get this error on the webparts. There are no accessible team projects in this Team Project Collection. Contact your Team Foundation Server administrator. In the Team Server Admin Console - Team Project Collection - Team Projects tab the projects are there. This is the default installation. Any suggestions???

  I have a drop down menu in an ASPX page along the lines of: <form> <select name="cars"> <option value="volvo">Volvo</option> <option value="saab">Saab</option> <option value="fiat" selected="selected">Fiat</option> <option value="audi">Audi</option> </select> </form> That is dynamically generated from another controller (value and label). After the user selects one of the options I need to find out what the selected value/label (will be the same) is so I can hit an update button and retrieve the data on that option. What would be the easiest way to find out the value of the user "selected" option?
