  • How to set which IP to use for a HTTP request?

    This is probably a silly question. I'm doing some http requests using wget from the command line, and I want those connections to be made through one specific IP of the 4 IPs my server has. Those http requests go to one specific range of IPs so I only want those to be routed differently. The 4 interfaces in my server are eth0, eth0:0, eth0:1, eth0:2. I tried with the following command: route add -net 192.164.10.0/24 dev eth0:0 But when I see the routing table it says: Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window irtt Iface 192.164.10.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0 The interface is set to eth0 not eth0:0 as my command says. What am I doing wrong?

  • Resources for creating a turn-by-turn navigation system

    I'm trying to create a kind of turn-by-turn satellite navigation system using the iOS SDK. I get the directions from the server and draw them on the map, then I keep getting location updates from the iPhone's GPS chip. Currently I start by finding the nearest turning point then, each time the user comes within a certain distance of the next turning point, a verbal cue is given and the turning point index is incremented. This is a delicate system and I'd like to make it more robust so I can tell when the user is going the wrong direction etc. Basically I'm looking for some literature about turn-by-turn navigation, in terms of tracking the user's progress and whether they're going the right direction. I'd have thought there's a lot of research out there but I can't seem to find anything apart from simple tutorials on how to use a given SDK or directions API. Can anyone direct me to a good run-through of the various techniques used in software such as TomTom or Google Maps Navigation?

  • How should I handle a redirect to an identity provider during a web api data request

    Scenario I have a single-page web app consisting purely of html, css, and javascript. After initial load and during use, it updates various views with data from one or more RESTful apis via ajax calls. The api calls return data in a json format. Each web api may be hosted on independent domains. Question During the ajax callout, if my authorization token is not deemed valid by the web api, the web api will redirect me (302) to the identity provider for that particular api. Since this is an ajax callout for data and not necessarily for display, i need to find a way to display the identity provider's authentication page. It seems that I should trap that redirect, and open up another view to display the identity provider's login page. Once the oauth series of redirects is complete, i need to grab the token and retrigger my ajax data call with the token attached. Is this a valid approach, and if so are there any examples showing the ajax handling of the redirects?

  • How can I reroute a sub-domain to localhost + port number?

    I have several web applications running on my developer machine. They mimic our production web applications which are hosted on sub-domain. For example, consider: api.myserver.com - is mimicked by 127.0.0.1:8000 www.myserver.com - is mimicked by 127.0.0.1:8008 and so on... How can I make it so that, on my Windows 7 machine, HTTP calls to "api.myserver.com" (note the lack of port number) are redirected to 127.0.0.1:8000 etc? Note that this needs to apply both to client-side calls (in the browser) and server-side calls (from IIS to Python development server and vice versa). Do I need a proxy to run locally to achieve this? Can you recommend such a tool?

  • Unable to access internet if wireless enabled

    The following is my route output. eth0 is my wired network and eth1 is my wireless network. Only wired one has access to internet. If I enable wireless, I am not able to access internet, it tries to access via eth1 and I get 404 page of the wireless router. Why does eth1 have higher preference though default is eth0 (link)?     Background: Home PC is Windows XP and using Cisco VPN client; home internet connection is fast (20MB) office VPN router is Cisco RV110W; work internet connection is slow (1.5MB) With VPN connected, my home PC internet surfing is very slow. I looked this up in Google and found talk about splitting, tunneling, routing tables, etc., but I'm not sure what/how to do it. Basically, I would like a persistent VPN connection with the office resources, and at the same time, utilize my home high speed internet connection to access the internet. Can someone help me the steps as how-to?

    I have a openvpn subnet 10.8.0.0/24 running one server and one client (laptop). openvpn works fine. Browsing the web over openvpn from the laptop works also fine. Now on the server there is a private subnet with 10.7.8.128/28. The subnet is set up with racoon (IPSEC s2s vpn). The s2s vpn allows me to access the subnet 10.3.5.0/24 at the other s2s vpn end. Works all fine when I'm connected with ssh to my server. From my laptop i can ping 10.7.8.129 (the servers ipsec local ip) but i cannot reach the net 10.3.5.0/24. I tried to add a static route on my laptop 10.3.5.0/24 over gw 10.7.8.129 with no success. Any ideas how i do setup the nat / routing? Thanks

  • Getting "System program problem detected" pops up regularly after dist-upgrade

    This started to happen immediately after I had rebooted the first time after doing a system upgrade to 12.04 from 11.10. It first starts with a dialogue that says "System program problem detected". Then when I try to hit 'report problem' not much happens. I am led through a dialogue that always ends up the problem cannot be solved. I am running a MacBook1,1 I am aware this is not a lot of information, however I'm not sure which information I need to publish and how should I obtain it to debug this problem. Here's a screenshot!

    i think i really need your assistance in this.I've installed ubuntu 10.10 and this mac theme and so far it works fine. This morning i upgraded to 11.04 and it also went well. i just realise some of the effects were gone. so i open compizconfig settings manager, i've tried to enable the destop cube and the expo and it prompted me of desabling somethings here and there. honestly i went fast couldn't undo what i've done and i realize the new application launcher and the system bar weren't showing properly, so i decided to restart my machine.After that 'bummer', nothing were like before.no system bar, no application launcher, not menu bar for any of my applications not even for the console. How i'm going to solve this one this time. thanks for reading this and specially for helping out.

  • Windows 2003 - RAS service - VPN client can only connect to server, not internal network

    Here is my diagram http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/263/vpnt.png/ Server has two NIC: One connect to Internet, one connect to internal network. RAS service is configured with static IP pool on the same subnet of internal network (10.10.0.x). The problem is when a client connect to server, client can connect to server(10.10.0.10), but cannot connect to another host locate in internal network (10.10.0.11) even cannot ping to 10.10.0.50. RAS configured with IP routing enabled, client connect with options: Use default gateway on remote network. I'm messed up and can not figure out what wrong. Please help me T_T. TIA, giobuon

    I have no index.html file in my public folder. My rails routes file routes this, and it works fine when I run 'rails server' on my machine. I'm trying to deploy the app. I have passenger and nginx running When I run rails server on my local machine, it works fine. But it's just trying to access static file when I try to access it on the production server.   • Can a Linux system crash cause network issues?

    I have a Ubuntu box in my network which crashed, all the system connected to the switch in which the Ubuntu system was connected started giving problem. I removed that system from the network, since that was the last change I made in my network and everything was fine. So, to confirm this I again connected the system back to the network and the same network outage happened. When I checked the links it was fine. When I rebooted the problematic system and again connected back to the network switch everything started working. I think possibly the crash of the Ubuntu system could have caused this outage. Is there any possibility that a kernel crash can cause network issues?

    I have repeatedly convinced of the reliability of the XFS file system , and I was more than satisfied . I was happy with everything in Ubuntu 14.04 ( great software) , but there is a little "but ! " Basically, I work on OSX-Mavericks 10.9.3, which sees very Windows 8.1 and works wonders with NTFS, but Ubuntu does not see! Briefly describe the equipment: ASRock B75 Pro3-M i5 3330 GeForce GTX 650 Ti SATA 500GB running OS X Mavericks + Clover - a boot disk Toshiba 2TB running Windows 8.1 (x64) and Ubuntu 14.04 (amd64) If you boot from the Toshiba (where there is Ubuntu and boot Windows + GRAB) after restart boot from Clover, it is impossible. Tried a lot of options - as Clover installation and boot priority, and various settings Grab, but have not found an acceptable option and reinstall again Clover - no desire ( Mavericks 20 seconds reboots - excellent !) So please help on the file system - how to convert to XFS HFS + magazine . Mavericks to saw it all synced on Mac . Thank you for the sensible answer and help! Originally in Russian.

  • Web Development - How to access custom host, defined in my hosts file, from another device in the same network

    Ok, I hope i'll be able to explain the issue im experiencing. I'm working on a project, that has 2 parts: one takes all requests from usual localhost, the other handles requests from myhost.local. While trying to access both addresses from my computer, it works ok. But now i need to test myhost.local on mobile devices, connected to the same network. Usually i would just run server from my computer ip in the network: python manage.py runserver 10.0.0.8:8000 And then from any device, going to 10.0.0.8:8000 would show the project im working on. However, now accessing that ip address routes me straight to localhost. So, my question is how to access myhost.local from another device in same network? I don't want to change router settings, if that can be avoided, cos sometimes i work from places where i can't access router admin. Is there any network settings on my computer, that i can change to fix the routing to myhost.local w.o losing access to localhost as well?

    Need help according to scenario given: Client end PCs: 400 + Network : Server 1 (Linux) : 192.168.2.0/24 (For Application, Internet not working) GW: 192.168.2.1 Clients: 192.168.2.1 - 254 Server 2 (Linux) : 192.168.3.0/24 (For Internet users) GW: 192.168.3.1 Clients: 192.168.3.2 - 254 Server 2 is connected to DSL Broadband. Server 1 and Server 2 both are on same physical network i.e. Same switches. Current issue: i have to deploy a file and print server but this server will be accessed by both (192.168.2.x and 192.168.3.x) one same workgroup. as both subnets are on same switched network. Limitations: Currently there is no hardware routers and firewall. Need to complete this task with Linux / Windows / AD. Tested / Worked so far: Configured one PC with two NIC's With the IPS: NIC 1 : 192.168.3.2 GW: 192.168.3.1 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 NIC 2 : 192.168.2.2 GW: Empty Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Kindly provide any solution what should i do to get sharing enable on both Subnets.   • VPN IPsec site 2 site and static routing

    Hello everybody experts! My question is pretty simple, but I can't figure it out because I'm pretty noob with these network stuffs. I have a vpn IPsec site2site between 2 lan with different ip classes, LAN A is class C and LAN B is class A. The vpn presents the LAN A to LAN B with the 10.178.51.64/27 segment. The problem is that when I start the vpn connection I cant Ping any 10.174.0.0/24 address(LAN B remote segment) from my LAN A; I think I need some kind of static route. Could u help me out pls?   • Failed GRUB after 10.04 to 12.04 upgrade in system with LVM

    I am using Ubuntu Server as a SMB server at work and two days ago I have tried to upgrade it to 12.04. After reboot, I got this grub_xput missing grub rescue> and all attempts to start from this prompt failed (missing components, although grub directory is normally set as prefix). My system sits and boots on an LVM (soft raid-5). I have read almost all posts in many forums, tried grub rescue, boot-repair, ubuntu-secure-remix with boot-repair but without positive result. This is the log of my last (and best so far) attempt to fix this system. Any suggestions? Please help.
