• PHP mySQL database check

  Hi guys, I am having endless troubles with duplicate entries, so I need to check the database, and if a user has already entered that day, their entry will not be submitted and they will be redirected to a landing page that tells them they have already entered that day, and that they may only enter again tomorrow. The field I would like to check is the id_number field in the database, since each user has a unique id number, so basically, if a user with the same id number submitted on the same date they should be redirected to a landing page, how would I go about doing this? I am still new to a lot of this, so please be forgiving. Thanx in advance.

• Open an attachment for editing and save changes made to it

  My Lotus Notes document has a rich text item that stores an attachment. I want to edit the attachment and after this to save the attachment back to the Lotus Notes document. This is the script that launches the attachment: @Command([EditGotoField];"Attachment"); @Command([EditSelectAll]); @Command([AttachmentLaunch]); @Command([EditDeselectAll]) This script opens the attachment, but the changes made are not reflected to the Lotus Document. One way of solving this is to add AttachmentActionDefault=2 as an entry to the notes.ini. This enables to edit the attachment when double clicking on attachment. Also using the right click on the attachment, and then choosing edit action, produces the same result. In both cases, after saving, the changes are reflected back to the Lotus Notes document. The problem is that I want to use a button for opening the attachment.

• Import and Export for CSV are both broken in Mathematica

  Consider the following 2 by 2 array: x = {{"a b c", "1,2,3"}, {"i \"comma-heart\" you", "i \",heart\" u, too"}} If we Export that to CSV and then Import it again we don't get the same thing back: Import[Export["tmp.csv", d]] Looking at tmp.csv it's clear that the Export didn't work, since the quotes are not escaped properly. According to the RFC which I presume is summarized correctly on Wikipedia's entry on CSV, the right way to export the above array is as follows: a b c, "1,2,3" "i ""heart"" you", "i "",heart"" u, too" Importing the above does not yield the original array either. So Import is broken as well. I've reported these bugs to [email protected] but I'm wondering if others have workarounds in the meantime. One workaround is to just use TSV instead of CSV. I tested the above with TSV and it seems to work (even with tabs embedded in the entries of the array).

• How to create custom get and set methods for Linq2SQL object

  I have some objects which have been created automatically by linq2SQL. I would like to write some code which should be run whenever the properties on these objects are read or changed. Can I use typical get { //code } and set {//code } in my partial class file to add this functionality? Currently I get an error about this member already being defined. This all makes sense. Is it correct that I will have to create a method to function as the entry point for this functionality, as I cannot redefine the get and set methods for this property. I was hoping to just update the get and set, as this would mean I wouldn't have to change all the reference points in my app. But I think I may just have to update it everywhere.

• How do you draw a line from one corner of the stage to the other?

  I am completely perplexed. I asked this question and it (any mentioned solution) doesn't seem to be working at all. All I want is to draw a line from one corner to the other. I have a ASP.NET Website, where, in a GridView item template, automatically populated by a LinqDataSource, there is a LinkButton defined as follows: <asp:LinkButton ID="RemoveLinkButton" runat="server" CommandName="Remove" CommandArgument='<%# DataBinder.GetPropertyValue(GetDataItem(), "Id")%>' OnCommand="removeVeto_OnClick" OnClientClick='return confirm("Are you sure?");' Text="Remove Entry" /> This works fine. Whenever the Button is Clicked, a confirmation dialog is displayed. What I am trying to do now, is to allow the user to enter a reason for the removal, and pass this on the the OnClick event handler. How would I do this? I tried OnClientClick='return prompt("Enter your reason!");', but, of course, that did not work =)

• How do I pre-empt IIS StaticFileHandler with my own HttpHandler

  Hi there, I'm building a website referencing an assembly that contains several js scripts as embedded resources, some controls which use those scripts and a 'HttpResourcesHandler' that knows how to retrieve those embedded scripts when asked for them. In web.config I have an entry in the section that reads <add verb="*" path="/embedded/controlscripts/*" validate="false" type="CWeb.Controls.Web.HttpResourcesHandler, CWeb.Controls.EditBox" /> This control adn the website work absolutely fine when debugging with the Visual Studio web development server, but if I then switch the website to run under IIS (v7 - I'm running Vista and there appears to be no problem with debugging the site using IIS 5 or 6), the control can no longer access the scripts. I get a HTTP 404.0 error screen indicating the StaticFileHandler cannot find the file. I know that - it's embedded. So the StaticFileHandler appears to be grabbing the request for the script before my own and returning a 404. How do I tell IIS to use my own resource handler for the embedded/controlscripts directory rather than the staticfilehandler? I'm running the website in classic mode by the way.

  I am trying to send special characters like spanish chars from my page to a JSP page as a form parameter. When I try get the parameter which I sent, it shows that as "?" (Question mark). • Problem authenticating with shiro in grails app

  I have a grails 1.2 app and I want to use declarative security in order to restrict accesses based on roles. I decided to try shiro, installed the plugin, but when I try to authenticate, the message "Invalid username and/or password" shows up in the header. I check the db entry and the user is there with the sha'ed password. No messages are shown neither in the console nor in the stacktrace file. I added "warn 'org.jsecurity'" to Config.groovy with no results. Any hints/tricks to troubleshoot this ?

• Why use Oracle Application Express for web app?

  Hi all. I believe we're moving to Oracle Apex for future development. I've read about Oracle Apex on wikipedia and it's pro and con. It seem to me the con outweigh the pro but maybe I'm wrong. I get the sense that Oracle Apex is for DBA with little or no programing knowledge to setup a web app quickly sort like MS Access for none programmer. If you have Oracle Apex working experience, can you share your though? From wikipedia's entry, it doesn't seem like you need to know any programming language at all but just the PL/SQL? edit: Is Oracle Apex scalable? Can it handle traffic like Facebook's size? Thank.   Hi , I know exe and dlls are almost same in pe format ,i have a problem in insert a new section in a (user32)dll ,while run a application exe ,it produces Unable to locate component error .i.e ^*#%&@$<.dll(junk) was not found ,reinstatallation may fix the problem. whenever do the samething in exe ,it was work fine,but dll does not give desired output ,i cannot understand ,its behaviour.both exe &dll's are same structure ,then whats the problem ,is there may be a entry point problem ? or what is the problem ,pleasse help towards the error ? thanks...

• Windows XP Home Edition SP3 cant recognise PCMIA SD Card

  System Specifications: Laptop : Dell Inspiron 6000 OS: Windows Home Edition SP3 SD Adapter: Hagiwara Smart Media Adapter I inserted the card into the slot, windows xp recognises the device, lists the pcmia controller on the device manager list, an entry appears under the IDE ATA/ATAPI category on the device manager as well. However, the device does not show under my computer and the driver does not get assigned a letter number. I checked the system logs from the device manager and there were no logged errors. Checking the Hagiwara support website, the manufacturer indicates that the adapter driver is the same as the windows xp pcmia controller. Checking Dell's website, no specific drivers were listed for that either. General Search on the web indicates that multiple people face similar problems with their SD cards, yet none actually spell out the route issue that causes this. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for further debugging. Thanks in advance

  Hi, I have the following line of code: <%= Html.Label((string) GetLocalResourceObject("Label_Email")) %> This generates a label within an HTML page. In the local resource file I have the following entry: Name: Label_Email Value:Email For some very strange reason when I load the page in the browser, it generates an HTML label with a value of "Email Address" instead of "Email". This is a serious problem for me because I need to localize the application and not have english word "address". When I replace Value in the local resouce file with "Email " (notice extra space), everything works fine, but this is a hack and I need to understand why my application is behaving this way.   I've got 3 tables that are something like this (simplified here ofc): users user_id user_name info info_id user_id rate contacts contact_id user_id contact_data users has a one-to-one relationship with info, although info doesn't always have a related entry. users has a one-to-many relationship with contacts, although contacts doesn't always have related entries. I know I can grab the proper 'users' + 'info' with a left join, is there a way to get all the data I want at once? For example, one returned record might be: user_id: 5 user_name: tom info_id: 1 rate: 25.00 contact_id: 7 contact_data: 555-1212 contact_id: 8 contact_data: 555-1315 contact_id: 9 contact_data: 555-5511 Is this possible with a single query? Or must I use multiple?

However, I am unclear as to a valid use case which would exclude this mechanism from always being used. I guess this would fall into several sub-questions: When is referential integrity not appropriate? Is it appropriate to have fields containing multiple and/or possibly incomplete subsets of a foreign key's list? Typically, should this be a schema structure design decision or an interface design decision? (Or possibly neither or both) Thoughts?

  I've tried searching but couldn't come up with a defined way on how to add your own packages to a GWT project. My tree structure looks like this: -com.mycompany -public MyApplication.html MyApplication.gwt.xml -com.mycompany.client MyApp.java -com.mycompany.gui TableLayout.java The answer I've seen out there says to add the packages relative to the root directory of the gwt.xml file, like so: <module> <inherits name="com.google.gwt.user.User" /> <entry-point class="com.mycompany.client.MyApp" /> <source path="client" /> <source path="gui" /> </module> It then complains: Unable to find type 'com.technicon.client.MyApp' Hint: Previous compiler errors may have made this type unavailable Hint: Check the inheritance chain from your module; it may not be inheriting a required module or a module may not be adding its source path entries properly Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to fix this?

• Client/JS Framework for "Unsaved Data" Protection?

  Hey all- we have a typical web application that is essentially a data entry application with lots of screens some of which have some degree of complexity. We need to provide that standard capability on making sure if the user forgets to click the "Save" button before navigating away or closing their browser they get a warning and can cancel (but only when there is unsaved or dirty data). I know the basics of what I've got to do-- in fact I'm sure I've done it all before over the years (tie in to onbeforeunload, track the "dirty" state of the page, etc...) but before I embark on coding this YET AGAIN, does anyone have some suggestions for libraries already out there (free or otherwise) that will help out? • Global variable life in Javascript - destroyed on a reload?

  (I am learning Javascript) Problem: A page I am working on has 2 views, a data entry view with a textbox and a data rendering view. There is a a href src="currentpage#" link that switches between the 2 views. In order to transmit data from view to view, the javascript parses it from the current HTML and pushes it into the correct form for the other view. This is ugly and I want to refactor it out, ideally into some sort of global where it can be neatly rendered down into the view on command (I'm refactoring the code base to a point where I can AJAX it from a server). However, I am not certain about scoping rules and variable life in JS.

• sql server 2005 indexes and low cardinality

  How does SQL Server determine whether a table column has low cardinality? The reason I ask is because query optimizer would most probably not use an index on a gender column (values 'm' and 'f'). However how would it determine the cardinality of the gender column to come to that decision? On top of this, if in the unlikely event that I had a million entries in my table and only one entry in the gender column was 'm', would SQL server be able to determine this and use the index to retrieve that single row? Or would it just know there are only 2 distinct values in the column and not use the index? I appreciate the above discusses some poor db design, but I'm just trying to understand how query optimizer comes to its decisions. Many thanks.
