  Hello, I'm using a Objective-C Scripting Bridge to communicate with InDesign CS3/CS4. Unfortunately I'm stuck on Save command which appears to be existing only as a part of the standard suite and not defined again in InDesign. Because of that it looks like I can Save, Save as but not Save Copy a document. Does anyone have any idea how to proceed? Just to shortly explain the difference between Save and Save Copy - using Save Copy the current doc doesn't change which is opposite to Save or Save as.

• Why does ASP.Net locks when I update code with TortoiseSVN

  Hi, when I update Adobe Flash/Flex code that is not related to ASP.Net with TortoiseSVN (latest) on a Windows Server 2008, the complete website locks and stop responding. Is it ASP.Net recompiling my code, is it IIS 7 or is it Tortoise locking the file system? How can I prevent or minimize this if I need to do an update when 1000 users are using the ASP.Net website? UPDATE: Thanks to Aito and Bryan, I learned more about AppDomain. I found these two links where I discover that folder creation/deletion recycle the AppDomain in ASP.Net 2. --If TortoiseSVN creates folders in it's hidden .svn folders hierarchy, I guess it will lock the app! Right now I'm using the code below, but there are weird side effects (e.g. it seems to steal the starting focus that I've set to another INPUT text box; it doesn't seem to play real well with the jQueryUI Resizeable class; etc.) <embed src="abc.pdf" type="application/pdf" /> Could I even do the same thing with the OBJECT tag?   I am using Flex builder 3, BlazeDS, and Java with Spring and Hibernate framework. I using the remote object to load a string from spring's configuration files. • FLEX: Make LineChart DATATIP constrain to vertical axis.

  When making a line chart, Lets say its for business sales for different depts and horizontally is days and vertically is dollars. When you hover over a line it tells a dataTip tells you the sales for that dept. on that day. I want it to show all the depts at the same time, so say you hover over day 3, I want the dataTips for all depts on day 3 to display so you can compare the values for all the sales on the same day. I set the mouseSensitivity for the dataTips to display all the lines at once but I end up getting day 2 for one dept and day 3 for another which is not wanted.   I've written a couple of tests for a small web app, but I get an error when I try to run the page specific tests that makes use of WicketTester. Google sends me to a mailing list for Apache Wicket, where a user experienced the same exception. He/she said the problem was that AnnotApplicationContextMock was initialized before the Wicket Application. I've pasted my WicketApplication class as well. • Communicating with the PC via USB connection in Android

  I'm fairly new to android programming and need some information for a 4th year forensics course project. Basically I am trying to create a suite of tools for live analysis of an android phone. I know how to get the information I need on the phone, but I was wondering if there was a way to communicate that information back to the PC? I want to be able to run a program from a PC, which, when the phone is docked, will allow the user to access information about the phone (ie currently running services/processes, bluetooth/wifi connections, etc). I have a bunch of methods that will run on the phone and get all the information, but I want to be able to call those methods from the PC, execute on the phone, then have the information sent back to the PC to display to the user instead of just displaying it on the phone. • Will html5 change everything for designers?

  What impact do you think html5 will have on the workflow/way graphic design is done for the web? Right now most designers stay in an Adobe tool, doing most of the design work there, and implement some elements with graphics and some with code. Checking out http://www.apple.com/html5/ it seems that almost everything done in a graphic can be done in code. Will designers have to learn very advanced levels of html5 and do the actual design work in the browser or do you see a more "designer friendly" gui being made for html/graphics work? Will tools like photoshop evolve in a way that handles this new lack of image files?

• ruby / rails / mysql performance degraded on Snow Leopard

  I've burned a bunch of hours on this. I'm not having problems getting things to build, but I am seeing that my test suite runs about 2x slower than when I was on OS X 10.5.x . I've spent a lot of time playing around with different optimization settings (learning to avoid homebrew's llvm-gcc compilation). I've just learned that I needed to tweaks /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist in order to get the kernel to boot in 64 bit mode. However, my rails app is still running a bit slower than before, even after warming up the mysql server. So what performance tweaks might i need to look into? Right now the stock ruby 1.8.7 runs faster than 1.9.1 for some things, and I'd really like to know if there is anything I should be looking for. All my dev software has been compiled for x86_64, mysql with -O2 optimization, using regular gcc (not llvm-gcc).

• Debugging problems in Visual Studio 2005 - No source code available for the current location

  Hi all I've searched up and down Google for others with a similar problem, and while I can find the error I don't think that other people have the same base problem that I do. Basically, I had to create a project for a unit-testing environment in order to run this test suite. First, I add my original C file, compile, and then a test file (C++) is generated. I then exclude my original source from the project, include this test script (which includes the original source at the top), and then run. I can debug the test file fine, but when it jumps to the original C file I get the dreaded 'no source code available for the current location' error. Both files are located within the same location, and I compiled the original file without any issue. Anybody have any thoughts about this? Its driving me crazy!

• Developing ASP.NET MVC UI Extensions - best approach

  What are the best practices in developing rich UI extensions for ASP.NET MVC (I mean asynchronous / partial loading, slick effects, skinning etc) ? I saw that Telerik has an MVC suite of extensions, but haven't tried them yet, so I cannot comment on them. My biggest concern as of the moment is how to structure the code of my extensions so that C#, ASP markup, and JQuery remain separate from each other, yet encapsulated in a way that the extension must be easy to distribute and reuse. I know that the user control approach had many flaws, yet it sort of allowed application developers to just reference a control, set some parameters and get it going in a few minutes. I'd like to achieve the same kind of portability/reusability as I still keep the code easy to extend and build upon. Now, some ideas that come to mind as topics for discussion are: template helpers vs. extension method helpers or a possible integration efficient use of jQuery - naming conventions - - asynchronous action loading - etc you can add whatever comes to your mind

• is it possible to issue dynamic include in asp-classic?

  I mean, like php'h include... something like my_file_to_be_included = "include_me.asp" -- for what I've seen so far, there are a couple of alternatives, but every one of them has some sort of shortcoming... what I'm trying to figure out is how to make a flexible template system... without having to statically include the whole thing in a single file with a loooooong case statement... here there are a couple of links a solution using FileSysmemObject, just lets you include static pages idem yet another one same thing from adobe this approach uses Server.Execute but it has some shortcomings I'd like to avoid... seems like (haven't tried yet) Server.Execute code runs in another context, so you can't use it to load a functions your are planning to use in the caller code... nasty... same thing I think this one is the same this looks promising!!! I'm not sure about it (couldn't test it yet) but it seems like this one dinamycally handles the page to a SSDI component... any idea???

  From the tools menu I have done right clickchoose itemCOM (tab) and ticked adobe pdf reader. From here I simply dragged the pdf tool onto my form. That's all I've done. Now on form load it throws a bug. "InvalidOperationException was unhandled" hovering over the message it says the following, An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)) Any ideas anyone? • TLFTextfield broken after upgrading from CS5 to CS5.5

  For my project I am using the following: FlashDevelop 3.3.4 RTM Flash Pro CS 5 (libraries only, no code) Some time ago we started using TLFTextfields. One of the things I had to do was include the tlfruntime.swc file from the Adobe Flash CS 5 folder in the FlashDevelop project. Note that I copied this file to the project folder and included it, I didn't just include the file straight from the CS5 path. I have since been given a new computer that has Flash CS 5.5. I recompiled one of my swf libraries in CS 5.5, and now when I run the program, I get: Illegal override of createTextLine in flashx.textLayout.compose.ComposeState I figure the tlfruntime.swc being included in the FlashDevelop project is out of date and needs to be updated with the one from CS 5.5. So I copied the tlfruntime.swc from the CS 5.5 path, include it in the FlashDevelop project (instead of the older file), but now I get this: Illegal override of softKeyboardActivatingHandler in fl.text.container.TLFContainerController. Can anyone assist with what else I need to do to get TLFTextfields working again in CS 5.5?

• Embedding PDF documents into websites

  I need to embed some PDF documents into a website. The last time I did this, I used a jQuery lightbox to popup an iFrame with the PDF document as the URL. The client's PDF viewer would then take care of the rest. Apparently though, that was a bit buggy on some other peoples browsers. I guess it was due to the large PDF file sizes and the effort it took for their computers to fire up Adobe. So I'm after ideas on how to go about this. How do you guys embed your PDF's into websites? Or do you just stick to adding a download link?

• WinForm PDF viewer with programatic search functionality

  We are currently using PDFTron's PDFView WinForm control to view PDF's in a WinForm application. I can load the file and search the file to highlight a certain text value. We have run into an issue where we have expired our trial license period and do not wish to shell out the $900/seat licensing on 15-20 computers. Does anybody know if the ActiveX Adobe Reader control can support the searching functionality programatically? I've tried that and the FoxIt Reader OCX control and neither seem to have this feature exposed (unless it's hidden really well) Does anybody have any suggestions for other freeware/open source viewers, or less-expensive viewers?   There is some editor of latex that managed the labels for a multifile document?. I tried with TexMaker and LED, and they offers me suggestions about the labels present in the actual document and in the "Master" document but not the labels present in other files of the structure. I made a script to find those other labels but it will be real good that the suggestions covers all the file structure automatically. Finally i tried with Vim and Latex-Suite, this extension has that posibility but i have problem configuring the grep program despite having followed all the instructions found in their website and in the help files, :(. the structure is like this: document.tex mystyle.sty mybibliography.bib tex/file1.tex tex/file2.tex tex/... img/img1.png img/img2.png . . .

• Global WH_CBT hook DLL is loaded into some processes only

  The main program calls the function SetHook in the wi.dll to install global WH_CBT hook. bool WI_API SetHook() { if (!g_hHook) { g_hHook = SetWindowsHookEx(WH_CBT, (HOOKPROC) CBTProc, g_hInstDll, 0); } return g_hHook != NULL; } I presume after installing global hook, wi.dll should be loaded into each process' address space. However wi.dll is loaded in to some processes only. For example, if I start Skype, MS Word I can see that wi.dll is loaded into these processes as well (using Process Explorer), however if I run Firefox, uTorrent, Adobe Reader then wi.dll is not loaded into these processes. I'm using W7 64-bit, main program and wi.dll is 32-bit, all programs mentioned here is 32-bit programs as well. Any ideas why that happens? Thanks in advance.

• Determine fonts used in postscript (.ps) file

  Given a postscript file that has the following header %!PS-Adobe-3.0 I would like to list all fonts used in the file. The output does not have to be perfect, but I need to make sure I get all references to any font being used. I am aware there are different types of fonts, and that a font may or may not be embedded in the postscript file. My current best idea is to grep/search for the word Font case insensitively and go from there. Will this get me all the font references? Any better way to achieve this? I tend to use .NET/C# for development purposes, but any solution is appreciated. Thanks, Bernard

  I have been asked to teach an online programming course, and I am looking for a test harness especially geared to education. Some students will have significant coding experience, but others will be total newbies. The course is an introduction to software development, mostly taught in C with some C++ and Java thrown in. In any case, I would like to read their source code only after a test suite has made sure that it compiles and executes properly. The students will also benefit from having a tool they can check their code against before submitting it. However, the Learning Management System my employer is using doesn't have such a system.   Hello, I am primarily a developer and dont know to use Adobe Flash CS4. Is there a simple way to add link to flash banner. I have .flv file with some items in Library and two layers. Please, give me step by step instructions. Thanks. Edit: I find simple solution, by steps: Go to File - Publish settings and set ActionScript version to ActionScript 2.0 Insert new layer Create a square with Rectangle tool, that is larger than banner Right click on square and chose Convert to symbol... In popup windows chose Type: Button Double click on new button from Library panel and move select from Up to Hit and than go back to main scene Right click on new blue square and chose Actions and paste this code in soruce editor: on (release) { getURL("http://www.example.com/", "_blank"); } Close source editor and export file as movie (File-Export-Export Movie).
