  I really love this video converter called total video converter. But there's one thing that it annoys me about it. The video player which is installed along with it. And the installer doesnt even allow you to customize. The video converter is installed along with the video player. And if you search for the total video player in the uninstaller. Nothing is there except for total video converter. What do I do?Can I go into the registry and delete something there so that I can rid of this video player installed along with total video converter?

• How can I prevent Ask.com Toolbar from being installed every time Java is updated?

  As many are painfully aware of, Oracle continues to not only bundle the Java installation with the useless Internet browser toolbar from Ask.com, but also enable its installation by default. In addition to the toolbar, Ask also replaces your favourite search engine in your browser with Ask. Furthermore, the Java installation goes as far as to actually recommend installing this useless junk, meaning that any non IT-savvy person is more than likely to leave it checked and install it (after all, it was enabled by default and the friendly Java installer did recommend it, right?). To add insult to injury, even if you remove the Ask Toolbar, you can be sure to see it again soon, when the next Java update hits you (which seem to happen quite often lately, due to loads of security fixes for Java, but that's another story). I'll duly remove the check-mark to install Ask Toolbar, whenever I update Java, but when supporting my family and friends, it's obvious they don't. How can I prevent the pesky Ask.com Toolbar from being installed in the first place?

However, I'm missing some key features in the "Server Farm" panel in IIS. This is how my setup looks like However, just like in the tutorial, I want it like this How can I enable ALL the things, like Load Balancer, Health Test, Server Affinity etc? Thanks. • apache requests failing

  I'm trying to figure out why sometimes the client fails to load objects/requests from a dynamic page served from Apache/MySql/Debian machine. Let's say 13 objects are to be loaded for a total of 185.3 KB load, with no external objects (no DNS lookups) and no other traffic at the same time, randomly some of those object do not load. However, if I perform a refresh, sometimes all of them load or some might fail again. I only have 1Mbps/up and my DNS is been hosted externally (everydns). What could be the reason of this issue? Any comments will be appreciated.

  Is there a way to change the desktop wallpaper in Windows 7 Starter Edition? I wanted to do that on my new netbook, just to find out that there is no "Customize" option in the control panel. Microsoft obviously wants to keep the netbook users rather rigidly from customizing their machines. It isn't even possible to edit the picture itself in the C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows\ directory, due to lack of rights. From what I can tell only the user "Trusted Installer" would have enough rights to do so... • Apt getting wrong nginx source

  I'm working on updating Nginx on my server from 0.7.65 (Ubuntu 10.04 repo) to 1.0.2 (from the PPA). I installed it just fine, but I would like to add/activate some modules. I found this tutorial for doing it with dpkg, which works well for ensuring that it maintains the defaults that apt-get uses for things like install location, and would like to use it to do the same for 1.0.2. However, when I run apt-get source nginx, it downloads the 0.7 source from the main repo, and when I run apt-get source nginx-full or apt-get source nginx-common, it selects nginx instead. Is there any way I can force it to get the source from the PPA, so that I can use dpkg and not have to deal with hacking in the Debian folder that dpkg requires?

• Belkin Wireless G router not working on Windows 7

  I have a Belkin F5D7230-4 Wireless G router which used to work on XP. I have a clean Windows 7 install (on the same desktop PC), and it just won't work. Device Manager lists the adapter as a USB device, but it says "The drivers for this device are not installed", even though the driver installer said the installation was OK. Manage Wiresless Networks says "wireless is not currently enabled". The WLAN AutoConfig service is running. My specific question is which of the two symptoms above should I go for first? Should I try to fix the driver installation somehow, or should I try to enable wireless? Is one caused by the other, or is this two independent problems? Any other thoughs that could help me are also appreciated.

  I've heard that MariaDB has better performance than MySQL-Server. I'm running software that makes an intensive use of MySQL, thats why I want to try upgrading to MariaDB. Please tell me your experiences doing this conversion, and instructions or tips. Also, which files I should take care of for making a backup of MySQL-Server, so if something goes wrong with MariaDB, I could rollback to MySQL without issues? • Routing application traffic through specific interface

  Hello All! First question here, so please go easy: I have a debian linux 5.0 server with two public interfaces. I would like to route outbound traffic from one instance of an application via one interface and the second instance through the second interface. There are some challenges: both instances of the application use the same protocol both instances of the application can access the entire internet (can't route based on dest network) I can't change the code of the application I don't think a typical approach to load balancing all traffic is going to work well, because there are relatively few destination servers being accessed in the outbound traffic, and all traffic would really need to be distributed pretty evenly across these relatively few servers. I could probably run two virtualized servers on the box and bind each of them to a different external ip, but I'm looking for a simpler solution, maybe using iproute or iptables? Any ideas for me?   Hi, I'm on process to migrate ntp server to another server. I already setup the ntp server on the new PC, reconfigure clients for the new server, but want to know nobody refers the older ntp server before shutting down the older ntp server. But as long as seeing the log files, there is no log about which client accessed the server, besides the log how the ntp-server synced with the public ntp-server. • Live streaming external FLV files

  I want to broadcast live video from a playlist created by me, but the actual video files (.flv's) are stored in some external file hosting which I can't admin, but it's currently allowing the use of flash players for playing its contents (progressively). Which is the best solution for this? Can I use my current web server (Debian w/Apache) or should I use some specific server software? I've read some names such as Red5 and Wowza but I can't tell if those are solutions to my actual problem or how should I use them. Also, costs should be as low as possible for this project.

• rails didnt install correclty, specificly the uninstaller

  ive just installed rails using railsinstaller.org for osx, rails and ruby seem to be working ok (checked by running rails -v and ruby --version). But when it installed i got an error saying that not there were errors and the uninstaller didnt install correctly. Somthing odd i saw was that when i load terminal i get this showing up Last login: Fri Nov 30 13:12:09 on ttys000 unknown5c969d7cc475:~ Sam$ specificly the "unknon5c96..." part im not sure if its related ? I think i might have got the install error as xcode wasnt installed first, for peice of mind id like to unistall it and load it back on, but when i try and run the installer from the application folder it just asks for my password and then dose nothing.. any ideas how i can fix this ?

They do work in 'dd' so I am wondering if I am specifying them incorrectly, or if sdd didn't implement them, or something else. • Intel Rapid Start Driver Reinstallation doesn't work?

  I recently had to reformat my entire drive and reinstall Windows 7. Something that bothers me is that when I was downloading the Intel Rapid Start driver (I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y480, and it comes standard with the Rapid Start) and tried to install it, the installer claimed that my system did not meet the requirements in order to install, when it was previously installed by the OEM. My startup times have increased from 21 seconds to log-in screen to 50 seconds. Please help...   This may sound as a stupid question, but I am really interested whether Ubuntu Desktop i386 will be able to use all my available RAM. I want to use the latest, non-LTS version, 10.10. It says on the website that it's (i386) the Recommended version. I also recall that Flash Player had issues with 64 bit Linux. Also, the 64 bit version is listed in the Universal USB Installer as amd64. Does this mean that it's using instruction sets specific to AMD CPUs? (I have an Intel) Will it work fine with Intel? So which one to download and install? What to do to be able to use 8Gb of RAM?

• Cannot access any remote resource after connecting to Cisco VPN on Vista

  I have installed Cisco vpn client version 5.0.07.0290 on Vista Business SP2. I am able to successfully connnect to the vpn. But after connecting I am not able to access any resource in the vpn (like database, other computers in the network etc.). I have tried the following without any success : Older versions of the client Other vpn clients like Shrewsoft : same issue as the cisco vpn client Disabled Internet Connection Sharing service Installed the client in the root administrator account Run the installer as administrator Run the vpngui and ipsecdialer in XP compatibility mode and as administrator I am not sure how to troubleshoot this issue. Can somebody please help me in troubleshooting this issue? P.S : I've Zonealarm firewall, can that be an issue?

  On my Debian Linux machine Ctrl+Alt+F1 is bound to a virtual terminal. I can see the corresponding entry by running xmodmap -pke keycode 67 = F1 XF86_Switch_VT_1 F1 XF86_Switch_VT_1 Per this thread, which I might add is consistent with what I've read elsewhere, the columns on the right hand side of = correspond to key, Shift+key, AltGr+key and Shift+AltGr+key. Given that, I don't understand how the keycode mapping for F1 (above) works for Ctrl+Alt+F1. It seems it should really be either Shift+F1 or Shift+AltGr+F1?   I need to use this utility to change one of the parameters of my new WD hard drive: http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=609&sid=113&lang=en It has truly unreadable instructions: Extract wdidle3.exe onto a bootable medium (floppy, CD-RW, network drive, etc.). Boot the system with the hard drive to be updated to the medium where the update file was extracted to. Run the file by typing wdidle3.exe at the command prompt and press enter. I understand that this bootable medium should be some version of DOS? How can I make my USB stick a bootable medium compatible with this utility (I don't have a diskette drive)? I have Windows 7 and Debian Linux installed.

  Hi, I'm about to set up a server upon which a friend and I will be hosting web sites, and I'll be using Debian. I've set up a LAMP solution many times just to using for local testing purposes, but never for actual production use. I was wondering what are the best practices are in terms of setting the server up, in reference specifically to accessing the web root directory. A couple of the options I have seen: Set up a single user account on the server for us both to use and use a virtual host to point to the somewhere in the home directory, e.g. /home/webdev/www. Set each of us up a user account, and grant permissions in some way to /var/www (What would be the best way? Set up a new group?) I want to get this right when I first set this up as there won't be any going back for a while once our first site is up and running. Appreciate any guidance in advance.

  I am having issues with the columns_priv table in the mysql system database. I cannot add new users currently. I have tried repairing it using mysqlcheck --auto-repair --all-databases --password but I get the following output: mysql.columns_priv Error : Incorrect file format 'columns_priv' error : Corrupt Is there any other way to repair this table, or how do I go about replacing it with a blank table?
