• Sending an anonymous email to my own address

  I want to send an anonymous email to my own gmail/hotmail/yahoo/any other mail service address (Im not trying to spam or something like that). Why? I have a .NET application and I want to add a "Send log to the developer" feature (attaching the log) using SmtpClient. The fact is I've read like 30+ pages, and found out, i.e. gmail's smtp client doesn't allow anonymous connections, and many other things. The idea is to receive a mail message like this: From: [email protected] (non-existent email really) To: [email protected] (this would be my real address which will recieve the logs attachments) Subject: Issue report nºX (auto-generated) Body: From a textbox Attachments: logs attached Is this possible? If so, how do I achieve it?

• SSRS run SQL/DataSet conditionally

  Hello.... I have an SSRS report that contains several subreports. The user has the ability to select/deselect which subreports they want to produce using several Boolean parameters. If a subreport is deselected then it is not rendered by setting the Visibility property. However, the DataSet associated with the de-selected subreport still executes causing the execution time to take longer than expected. Is there any way to tell a dataset on a subreport or Tablix not to execute based on a Parameter selection? Thanks

• Why can't i call Contains method from my array?

  Arrrg!I am running into what i feel is a dumb issue with a simple script i'm writing in powershell. I am invoking a sql command that is calling a stored proc, with the results i put it a array. The results look something like this: Status ProcessStartTime ProcessEndTime ------ ---------------- -------------- Expired May 22 2010 8:31PM May 22 2010 8:32PM What i'm trying to do is if($s.Contains("Expired")) , report failed. Simple...? :( Problem i'm running into is it looks like Contains method is not being loaded as i get an error like this: Method invocation failed because [System.Object[]] doesn't contain a method named 'Contains'. • Catch all javascript errors and send them to server

  Hi everyone, i wandered if anyone had experience in handling javascript errors globally and send them from the client browser to a server. I think my point is quite clear, i want to know every exceptions, errors, compilation errors, ... that happens on the client side and send them to the server to report them. • Is pthread_spin_trylock safe inside of sigsegv handler of multithreaded application?

  I am trying to implement a handler that on SIGSEGV will collect some information such as process-id, thread-id and a backtrace and write this information to a file/pipe/socket. The problem lies in that there is the (probably pretty high) possibility that if one thread experienced a SIGSEGV that the others will shortly follow. If two threads happen to make it to the bit of code where they're writing their report out at the same time then they'll interleave their writing (to the same file). I know that I should only be using async-signal-safe functions as detailed in signal(7) I also have seen at least two cases here and video linked in top answer here where others have used pthread_spin_trylock to get around this problem. Is this a safe way to prevent the above problem?

• Catching uncaught exceptions

  Hi everybody. In my workplace we are mantaining a lot of ecommerce websites, some coded better than others. On some of those, sometimes uncaught exceptions are thrown, and showed by the alertbox from the flash player debug (If you have it installed). To rise the average user experience I'd like to report all those exceptions throught a in house tool we already have. Is there a way to catch those exceptions? Maybe the flash player debug exposes them to javascript, or in some other way.

• Iterating through a range of dates in Python

  This is working fine, but I'm looking for any feedback on how to do it better. Right now I think it's better than nested loops, but it starts to get Perl-one-linerish when you have a generator in a list comprehension. Any suggestions are welcome. day_count = (end_date - start_date).days + 1 for single_date in [d for d in (start_date + timedelta(n) for n in range(day_count)) if d <= end_date]: print strftime("%Y-%m-%d", single_date.timetuple()) Notes: I'm not actually using this to print; that's just for demo purposes. The variables start_date and end_date are datetime.date objects, because I don't need the timestamps (they're going to be used to generate a report). I checked the StackOverflow questions which were similar before posting this, but none were exactly the same. • Save information from MS crash reporter?

  On Windows XP when a process crashes, we get a dialog box with a link: "To view technical information about the error report, click here." The "click here" link brings up a whole lot of information in a window, but no obvious way to save it to a file. Is there a way? It would be very nice to be able to send that data to several different external vendors we're working with. The only other option I see in the dialog box is to send it to Microsoft, but this crash is likely not Microsoft's fault and there is no reason to send it to them.

I tried doing this by passing $flag as a parameter to the sub which generates the report. However, the last defined FORMAT seems to always take precedence and the final write when it happens, applies the last format no matter what the condition is. Is it possible to also add/hide fields using the same process. e.g. If $flag2 is defined, then add an additional field Field4 to the list?

  I have a list or set of values that I would like to know which ones do not currently exist in a table. I know I can find out which ones do exist with: SELECT * FROM Table WHERE column1 IN (x,x,x,x,x) The set is the values I am checking against. Is there a way to find out which values in that set do not exist in column1? Basically, I'm looking for the inverse of the sql statement above. This is for a report, so all I need is the values that don't exist to be returned back. I have and could do this with a left join and putting the values in another table, but the values I check are always different and was hoping to find a solution that didn't involve clearing a table and inserting data first. Trying to find a better solution for me if one exists.

Each bottom of the table (Table Footer), I have something called: "Total: " which is a sum of Total field. I called these textboxes are txtbxCurrent and txtbxProposed and the format is in currency already. This thing is running well. But now I need to get a total of these txtbxCurrent and txtbxProposed. How do I do this? Can I take the value of this or not? BTW .. • How can I define the search scope by "this week" meaning Monday - Friday in Ruby on Rails?

  This is an extension of an earlier question. I realized, what I really want is to go to a URL /report/thisweek and it will do a .find (or named_scope) across contact_emails.date_sent where date_sent is between MONDAY and FRIDAY of the week to which Date.today belongs. In other words, if today is THURSDAY, it will do a search for all emails MONDAY through THURSDAY of this week. Not sure if this is doable or makes sense, but I think that's what I'd ultimately am trying to do. Thanks!

• Datepicker (1.8rc3) not transferring date in IE6

  Using jquery-1.4.2 and jquery-UI 1.8rc3, I instantiated a datepicker on a text input with showOn: 'focus'. The datepicker appears correctly. However when I click on a date, the datepicker doesn't disappear and the dateStr doesn't get transferred to the text input. I tried adding an onClose: handler that calls alert(dateStr). The event fires but no dateStr has been set. Everything works fine in Firefox. I have Microsoft Script Debugger installed but no script errors were detected.   We are using the old urchin.js and are tracking 2 subdomains under the same profile. We have a “track subdomains” advanced filter defined (as per http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55524) as well as 2 segments for presenting data in the reports: hostname matches exactly subdomain1.domain-name.com and hostname matches exactly subdomain2.domain-name.com When I apply these segments to our Top Content Overview report, the All Visits total for PageViews does not correspond to the # of visits reported for each subdomain. For example: All Visits = 53 subdomain1 = 24 subdomain2 = 32 Is there any reason as to why we would be seeing this discrepancy in numbers?

• Easiest way to keep SSRS child elements in the same relative position when the parent is re-positioned?

  I am trying to revise the layout of an SSRS report where I have several textboxes that are child elements of a rectangle. When I reposition the parent rectangle down by x, all of the child textboxes maintain the same absolute position. Their "Location" (defined relative to the parent) decreases by x. I then need to reposition the child textboxes. Additionally, if any of these ever has a negative "Location" then the parent rectangle is then repositioned back up by x. What is the easiest way to move everything in unison? I can Control-click everything and then drag them or use the arrow keys, but I want to position everything with precision and the "Location" field in the Properties window disappears when selecting more than one item. Is there a way I can avoid individually computing and typing in every "Location" value every time I have a small layout change? I am using SSRS (11.0.3360.12) within the Visual Studio 2012 Shell. • When should methods be made private?

  There are lots of times where i'm not sure whether a particular method should be made private or not. For example, i'm building a class right now, which, is responsible for generating a report. This class has a buildReport method and several methods which collect the necessary data for buildReport. // single public method // uses a set of helper methods public buildReport() // helper methods private avgSurveyTime() private fetchVendors() private fetchSendCounts() private ... Im debating whether i should make these helper methods public. The only method i really plan on calling outside at the moment is buildReport. However, it might be useful to get just a list of the vendors with fetchVendors etc. I see two schools of thought on this: You can always expose as little as possible. (In which case, many of my classes would only have one public method) OR you can expose all you can that might be useful to the user of the class. Is there a good rule of thumb to use for deciding when methods should be made public/private?

• Server 2012 DFS New Member Issue

  I am trying to add a new member to our DFS topology. We have 3 DCs (VMs - VMware) running Windows server 2012, two servers are located in or Primary site and the third at our DR site. Currently the two servers at our primary site are currently replicating DFS (full mesh) and are working fine. I have tried several times to add the third DC to our DFS topology, every time i configure the replication path e.g E:\MSI and click ok the MMC snap in crashes.
